A must when you’re in New Orleans. Great drinks, and even better food. Also, the service is outstanding. The brussel sprouts are a must. Do yourself a favor and give this place a try. You won’t be disappointed.

This is a great bar that’s a bit hidden. The cocktails are amazing but a bit pricey for the size. The staff is friendly and the place is clean. They play great music. It’s definitely worth it to drop in for a spirt forward beverage.

I can sum this place up in 3 words: bland, pretentious and overpriced. While the drinks were pretty good, the food was not, nor was the service. I got the crusted yellowtail and it was just that, no flavor or spices at all. My sister in law got the ribs and they were about the same – not much flavor. My wife got the Cuban/Puerto Rican style shredded beef and out of everything we ordered, it was the best dish, which really isn’t saying much. The servers were as bland and impersonal as the food. For the prices here, I expected a whole lot more. They need to do a lot better.

Went last night for Krewe du Vieux. Website says«reservations accepted for parties of 8 or more». Okay, so we had 3 and just showed up. Every table was empty and the host basically says they’re booked up until 10pm. Doesn’t offer us to hang out by the bar until the bar opens up– nothing. Basically told«sorry, we don’t want your business». One bartender was super nice and made us feel welcome. She fixed us drinks in plastic cups in case we weren’t able to get a seat, we were free to leave with our drinks. Seats opened up at the end of the bar a few minutes later. We take our drinks and have a seat. We are greeted by this hipster bar back who proceeds to tell us we have to shoot our drinks because«they don’t allow outside beverages.» Dude, we just paid for these here. Spent $ 120 on apps and drinks. Then went outside for parade. When the parade was over, we came back in for more food and drinks. Host greets us like he’s never seen us before(um, really?). We sit at bar, get a different, snobby bartender who could care less if you need anything, drop another $ 190 and feel less than appreciated. Food and cocktails= super. Service(especially when dropping over $ 300 w/tips)= embarrassing

Cocktails? Yes. Yes especially to the happy hour menu cocktails. Food was very heavy, very fried, no chip up to the task of supporting a dip. Price all right but.

My son searched for some unique restaurants to try in New Orleans and this was at the top of his list. The dishes and drinks were definitely unique. Our meals weren’t bad but they weren’t good either. The service was the reason we will NEVER return though. Our server was sweet and helpful but the male bartender we had to deal with was pretentious and arrogant. Service is a huge part of the dining experience. Perhaps when that bartender is gone we will try another visit.

Some of the best food and cocktails in New orleans. So classy and beautiful inside. Perfect for an intimate dinner or eating with a group of friends. Try and save room for every section of their menu including dessert. You don’t want to miss any bit of it.

Great and unique cocktails. My party sat at the bar waiting for our table and we were sad when they called us… They have expanded menu since first opening which is a welcomed addition since the food had always been good… now there is more of it. They do accept reservations which I suggest you do since it can get crowded.

Great speakeasy type bar in the Marigny. They offer plenty of fancy cocktails, most of them featuring a fruity base. I enjoyed my grapefruit cocktail the most and it’s fun to watch the bar tenders make them. I didn’t try any of the food, but hopefully will the next time. It’s a nice ambiance for a date, so don’t hesitate to take a special someone there and sit at the bar.

Went here for my fiancé’s birthday at his request. The drinks were great the service was not. Our female server seemed less than enthused to be serving us even though we were one of the few tables in the place. With the amazing reviews that this place received and was listed as a best new restaurant my expectations were high but what I received was subpar. The appetizers were great but my meal was less than great. Bland and tasteless is one way to describe it. My fiancé and my drinks sat empty and was never asked if we wanted another drink. The bottle of water we received for the table was also lukewarm and far from thirst quenching. If you are looking for artisan cocktails come here. There is better food and better service in other places around New Orleans.

Excellent food & drinks. Our waiter was attentive and very helpful assisting my group of friends and I as we poured over the intense drink menu. Highly recommend the Class of 1898(drink) — it’s a winner. The Ropa Vieja was tasty and well-cooked, but the tostones completely stole the show. Best I’ve ever eaten.

Not bad… After landing in NOLA for our long weekend, my friend picked us up from the airport, we dropped off our bags at the hotel, and then we headed straight to Cane & Table for our inaugural New Orleans meal. We chose this place because they do a bottomless booze brunch(as long as you pick your cocktails from a set list). Us three girls all went for the bottomless booze while the three guys opted to choose from the«proto-tiki» collection of drinks. Between the girls, we ended up ordering at least one of each drink on offer and we all agreed that the ‘Paloma’ was the favorite(made with tequila, lime, and grapefruit juice). As far as food goes, H and I had purposely semi-starved ourselves so that we could pig out once we arrived in this food-rich city so we ordered three dishes to share: the yucca and duck hash, the poached egg with pork, and the red beans and rice. The yucca and duck hash was good, though I wish the fried egg on top had a runny yolk(but that’s just my preference). The yucca was cut into gigantic chunks and was pillowy and delicious. There wasn’t too much duck in the hash, but what few pieces we got were smoky and tender. The poached egg with pork was served on a piece of coconut bread, which ended up soggy thanks to the pile of tomato-based sauce, but it was still pretty good. And the yolk was runny so bonus points for that. The red beans and rice were probably my favorite, though, there was only like, one tablespoon of rice mounded in the center of a pile of beans, which seemed really unbalanced to me. But, the beans were full of giant chunks of chorizo and they definitely tasted slow-cooked and complex. Even though I left this place feeling happy and satisfied, compared to the other dining experiences we had later on that weekend, it was definitely subpar. One big negative was that the waitress was really slow and requests had to be repeated on multiple occasions. There was one gentleman helping us out who was super prompt and we all got excited when he walked out the door(we were seated at a big picnic table outside) because he was so much more helpful and responsive so he gets a thumbs up but it didn’t make up for our main server’s lack of attention. Also, the portion sizes of the food were definitely on the smaller side, which was disappointing to all of us.

Oh, cocktails. They do some of their own spiced rums here. We worked through a number of small plates here. Squid. Tasty kale salad(it’s huge). Another dish. Hoecake? Avocado salad? I can’t recall. Get the non-benets benet dessert. You can’t expect me to go on a cocktail crawl and remember all the dishes I ate, do you? Trinidad Green Swizzle. Fascinating. Get a swizzle. Really lovely staff. Not much of a sign on the outside so your average wooo-hooo tourists walk on by.

THE $ 18, 3-COURSE STEAKLUNCHIS A GREATDEAL! A generously portioned juicy top sirloin; paired with light curried cream spinach; preceded by a summery crisp ceviche; ending with their unique tangy bay leaf beignets. And a rum based sour mash cocktail is included! BUT I PROBABLYWON’T BEBACK… I compare every lunch dining experience to Commander’s Palace or Mr. Bs. Their $ 1.50 martini 2 – 3 course prix-fixes are the local gold standard. Cane & Table is not in their league yet competes at a similar price point. A few glaring differences: 1. The lax«rustic» décor draws a lower class NOKD diner. When I was there an 8-top of obviously drunk loud no-collar flip-floppers took over a nearby table. Ti Martin would never let that happen. 2. Where are the greatest hits? While I loved my steak and spinach I could get that at Outback. The stand outs at C&T are supposedly their unique small-plates like tostones, cebollitas, hoppin’ john and spoon bread. It’s a wasted opportunity that those aren’t on the prix fixe. 3. No transparency. The $ 18 special isn’t listed on the lunch menu and was never offered by my server. The tourists next to me thought that was«sneaky». …and no bread!(yet an empty bread/salad plate mocked me throughout my meal — see pic)

As good as my first visit was to Cane and Table, I guess I was disappointed when I returned with a group of 11 people and was given a list of rules which eventually made us leave and choose another place. Clearly Cane and Table doesn’t need any business for on this night, I was told the following things: Cannot combine tables on the patio(okay we said, we’ll sit at two different tables) Next hurdle? Cannot sit until entire patio has arrived(okay, just sit the people who are here and the other people can fend for themselves as they will be at another table) Next hurdle? Cannot sit at all unless you are ordering food(Really? I was just there a few nights ago at the same late hour of 11pm and I was able to sit on the patio and just have drinks) Since we had just come from dinner this was the straw that broke the camel’s back and we took our business elsewhere. Too bad Cane and Table. Your rules cost you my business tonight and in the future. But I guess you don’t need my business anyway.

Cane and Table gets a lot of press and a lot of hype, and you know what? They’re all right about it. We stopped in for a few drinks at the bar after dinner, and upon arriving, I was immediately concerned with the fact that there was a HUGE gathering of people in front of the restaurant. I can’t tell you how happy I was to find out that those people were in line for jello shots at the bar next door and not for Cane and Table. If you want jello shots and Hand Grenades, don’t even bother stepping in the door. Cane and Table’s cocktails are works of art, and deserve the right amount of attention and appreciation that goes into making them. The two drinks we had were outstanding, particularly the mezcal sour that was on the menu that night. I hear good things about the food too, and definitely want to make a stop here for dinner or daytime festivities when I come back!

I haven’t been to Cane & Table since my 2013 review, and we ended up popping in there post Easter festivities yesterday. We filled up half the bar with half of us already flailing two sheets to the wind. The dimly lit ambiance inside to escape the evening drizzle and fading beautiful weather was just what the afternoon ordered. My amigos had enjoyed mai tais in these incredibly amazing Killer Whale tiki cups(I may be buying them offline this week) with copious amounts of fresh mint. Happy Hour(on a Sunday, wahoo) had just kicked in(3 – 6, 7 days a week), and David, our bartender couldn’t have been more patient with our krewe. I enjoyed a Manhattan cocktail off the Happy Hour menu, while my friend sipped an orange-y/raspberry gin cocktail(very tasty, and I’m not a big gin gal). I decided to get off the hard liquor, and enjoy a Tecate Michelada-style with a lime and salt rim.(One of the few places in town that knows what a Michelada is, yay!). My gal pal turned her interest to the main menu with a Smoak & Plank made with Mezcal, Caribbean spices, and«Cherry Bounce.» This is where David comes into play. We’re like, «what’s Cherry Bounce?!» thinking maybe Big Freedia or Nicky Da B had some influence on this libation. We were dead wrong… Apparently Cherry Bounce is a «colonial-style» infusion of cherry, sugar, and spirit(in this case, rum) and the name dates back to ol’ Martha Washington’s day when she wrote down a recipe on the president’s stationary. Who knew Martha kicked back somer serious cocktails! We thought David was pulling our leg, so we Googled, and he was telling the God’s honest truth. Way to know your stuff, David. To quell the inevitable hangover, we dined on a pu pu platter that came in an über-cool wooden Lazy Susan. They were plum out of fried avocado, and subbed in fritters, but I think the avocado was definitely missed. My favorite part of the platter was the cracklin’ that you dipped in maple syrup! I’m not even a big fan of cracklin’ but dipped in the syrup made it all worth while. Thank you David for putting up with us, and I will definitely be back sooner than later for what sounds like a great brunch! Hello, bottomless cocktails!

Cane and Table is a tasty addition that breaks the mold of the French Quarter food scene. My friends and I met there for dinner and sat in the beautiful courtyard that made it seem like we were in Havana or San Juan instead of the FQ. Since we were a group we decided to share several of the small plates. Our favorites were the Brussels sprouts, avocado salad, grill octopus and the the amazing crispy rum ribs. The only disappointing plate was the corn meal spoonbread that just lacked execution. If you’re in the FQ and need a break from ALL the creole/Cajun cooking stop by Cane and Table you won’t regret it!

Had my first trip to NOLA last week and in preparation, I watched as many travel shows about the city as I could. I found about this place through an Esquire TV travel show. This place is right in the thick of things, but both time I went, it was pretty slow. That said, I thought they had great cocktails and very tasty snacks. I went during happy hour and had the Bourbon Manhattan and the Mexican Firing Squad. The Manhattan was a solid version and the firing squad was like a cousin of the Margarita without the foofy glass. The MFS is great on a hot day. I also had the crispy avocados(tempura style) and the pork cracklin’s. I am not a fan of avocados, but this dish was freaking good. I went back again just get more. The cracklin’s were good, but a bit over seasoned with curry powder. That said: I ended up eating them all over the course of few days. Long story short, a great find. Happy to pass along to the next person walking down Decatur looking for a place to rest there feet and put a few down in a douche-free environment.
