We were there with a group and happened upon Vixen’s & Vinyl with GoGo MacGregor on a Wednesday. The«free» Burlesque was hilarious and if you don’t put $ in the jar, you’re a real bitch/jerk. Sara was an awesome bartender. Love this joint. Definitely one of if not THE best in the FQ.

Spitfire is a «new-ish»(opened in the last few years, to my recollection) bar along the Decatur/North Peters corridor on the river side of the French Quarter. I don’t know if it still is, but the previous bar here was well-known by locals to be a place that was lesbian-friendly and a local gathering place. Of course, people of all persuasions have come and gone through the doors, but just wanted to make note of that for people seeking such establishments. Product: Mainly, alcoholic beverages. The prices are pretty fair, especially for this neighborhood, and the drinks are decent. I’ve only ever had drinks there, so I’m not sure about a food menu. 3 stars Service: I’ve only ever been during the afternoon, and there has only ever been one bartender(the same woman) working at the time. She was quite congenial with me each visit, and service was good. 4 stars Facilities: Like a number of other places along this corridor, Spitfire occupies the first floor of an older building. There is only(very limited) street parking, but, hey, it’s the FQ. Go park along Esplanade or in the Marigny if you’re driving. I don’t recall any specific bike parking here, but I’m sure you can lock up to one of the nearby balcony supports. It’s always worked for me in the past. The signage and interior have a definitive avionic theme here, something you really don’t see every day in New Orleans, which is more of a nautical town. The decorations are quite nice. The interior has been spotless each time I’ve frequented the establishment. 3 stars Bonus: Pretty much daily afternoon/early evening happy hour. Ask the tender about details when you go in. Overall: This is an average bar for the area. The only real standout is the theme. I would suggest it for those looking for a drink in the area, without having to deal with much more busy places, such as Molly’s at the Market. 3 stars

Incredibly rude management/bartender. I’m usually pretty compassionate towards service industry people but I can’t really muster an excuse for this particular experience.

Had the eggs dauphine. It was great. Pulled pork on jalapeño cornbread topped with a poached egg. Delicious. Nice sitting outside. Service was great and very friendly. Did not wait long at all for our food or drinks. Recommend for a no stress place to eat.

Really love this place for burlesque night people are generally nice. It doesn’t get too busy too often probably because of the heavy saturation of bars on Decateur. Some of the bartenders have been rude in the past but whatever it’s a bar. Still fun to dance

Sightglass coffee and nice folks. This small shop serves up some mighty fine coffee drinks, and we were very happy to stumble upon it today. I will definitely be back!

My go to bar in the Quarter. Cheap booze, good jukebox. Not crazy, and the perfect place to see real New Orleans attitude & culture.

Good selection of beers. More importantly, an honest owner and staff. My buddy and I drank a bit and forgot our bags. Sarah, the owner, not only put them aside, she contacted us to come back and get them. Simply put: solid bar operated by honest people. Go here!

Awesome little bar! We were looking to go somewhere that wasn’t touristy or where they try to get you to buy a hand grenade. This place was great! Seemed like somewhere the locals themselves hang out. I would highly recommend it.

Don’t know why I’ve waited so long to write a review of this place, it’s certainly my go to spot whenever I’m in New Orleans, which is frequently. I’ve never been a fan of the bars on Decatur, or bars in the French Quarter in general, but there’s something about this place. The ambiance is great and the staff is better. Everyone is always very welcoming and accommodating, so much so that more often than not I’ve gone in intending to have 1 beer, and have found myself there hours later. The clientele is usually local, and if you can’t find a good conversation with someone, it may be a personal problem. I’m glad I found this place and look forward to it being around for many years.

I was in here a few times when they were videotaping scenes for«Drunk History». There is a pool table in the back, and a Skee-ball game. Not mush else to recommend it, though.

I am not a big Decatur girl but this bar wasn’t half bad. I came here for a private event and was a bit disappointed on the beer selection(no blue moon, no Abita, no Covington…) and the champagne cocktail that was made for me was downright awful(we asked for more champagne in the cocktail). We didn’t get an itemized receipt which I thought was super sketchy. The bill was $ 54 for 3 beers, 2 champagne cocktails, 2 extra champagne, and tip. If needed, I would visit again.

This is a bar with a WW2 Spitfire airplane theme. Decent atmosphere here with an interior setup that reminds me of Molly’s at the Market with front bar and back area with pool tables. Add it to your Decatur Street pub crawl and see how you like it.

Yay! I feel like this little spot on Decatur has finally found the bar that it’s supposed to be. Other bars that have moved into 1135 Decatur haven’t seemed to last, but I love Spitfire. First of all, the bar itself is really cool. There’s a propeller behind the bar that actually spins! Second of all, the staff is friendly and the music is good, with various tunes from the 80’s and 90’s. It doesn’t have the«dirty» feel that other bars on Decatur seem to have, and although it’s dark, you don’t feel like you are going to run into a bad element here. There are pool tables in the back, if that’s your thing and you are bound to have a good time.

Mardi Gras was rainy this year. I left my umbrella here after a few drinks and when I went to pick it up, I heard from a guest that the bartender had thrown it out into the street. He himself was too cool to make any other statement than that he’d seen it ‘flying.’ Rude dude. The bar itself is pretty nice, decent atmosphere and interior. 2 stars for shitty service.

On vacation in Nawlins, wandering around the French quarter, my wife and I stumble across Spitfire. They were blasting the clash on the juke, and had a pinup girl logo, so I figured we might as well go inside. It was a shotgun design on the inside, bar to the side, bathrooms in the rear. The drinks were averagely priced, they had family guy on one tv, and a WWII doc on the other. The thing that ended up being serendipitous about out visit, is that they just happened to have free burlesque on Thursday nights. All in all, it was a good place, with a fun vibe, and a good alcohol selection. It’s a younger crowd, mainly. Definitely worth a stop if you’re strolling down Decatur.
