My wife and I went to Café Soule tonight in the French Quarter. We both walked away unimpressed. The food was passable, but nothing that I could not have made on my own. We started with a salad, in which the majority of the ingrediates were not fresh. We finished with crabcakes and crawfish etouffe. Again, the flavors and the presentation of the meals were less than impressive. The décor of the restaurant was terrible. When we initially walked in we thought we were walking onto a construction site. They are doing some work on the place(to their credit) and it shows. Also the mismatched furniture was in bad shape. I get the sense that this resaurant is on its way down. Whether it was the paper napkins or the fact that they had no steak dishes to offer, something gave me sense that they were barely holding on. I would not recommend dining at Café Soule.

Quaint little place with some outstanding food. After eating at many of the same places we stopped in here on our last night and we’re glad we did. Our waiter was great, the food was outstanding, we loved everything about this place.

This was a fantastic spot for brunch. We arrived and were shocked to find it practically empty on a Sunday morning. We were immediately seated and served by Suzanne(Suzannah?) who was funny and charming the whole time. My fiancé and I split the bananas foster French toast and eggs Sardou. Plus, we got a bottle of champagne and orange juice for mimosas. Our friends had a few of the other dishes and we all loved everything. It was the perfect amount of food and drinks and a great time. The whole staff was entertaining and they were even king enough to take our photo on the Paris Room stairs. Highly recommend if you want brunch in New Orleans. Great food, including vegetarian options, and a great time.

I came in on a Monday for a late lunch. There were only two other customers there. The place is really cute I love the atmosphere. I was told to sit wherever I chose a table by open doors the table was dirty no one ever cleaned it. I ordered a champagne cocktail the Soulè cocktail and it was ok served in a flute for $ 10 I thought it was overpriced for such a small size and I suspect the sparkling wine used was very cheap. I ordered gumbo and it was meh at best very disappointed in the gumbo no flavor at all. I had to ask for silverware and napkin. Then I ordered a Moscow mule to go very blah was bitter and did not have that fresh ginger beer flavor.

Me and my boyfriend were Unilocaling a crêpe place to go to in New Orleans and we decided to eat here based on the reviews, and boy I am glad that we decided to come here. First off, the view outside from our table was gorgeous! Who doesn’t love dinner with a view of gorgeous and colorful architecture of New Orleans? The staff were very friendly, attentive, and knowledgable and that made the experience much more enjoyable. On top of that, the food was AMAZING. From the savory crepes to the sweet crepes. We had the duck crêpe and I didn’t expect much from it at all, but it exceeded my expectations. My boyfriend got the Nutella crêpe and I loved it because it didn’t have an overbearing sweetness to it. It was just right. It is a MUST to try this place.

We stumbled upon this place last night. We would have walked right by, but the waiter, Harvey B, pulled us in — Wow! He was fantastic! So fun and made our dining experience memorable. It’s a cute little place and the food was awesome! I did not get that this was a dinner place by reading the description and the name — but the entrees were great, beer selection, cocktail selection, perfect — I want to go back next time we’re in New Orleans for sure!

LOVEDTHISPLACE. The staff was so friendly and the food and wine was delicious. We had stopped in here after a long hot day of walking the city. We received a tour of the old upstairs part because the staff was entertaining us as it was 4 in the afternoon on a Sunday. We were given lots of information on all the menus items and Nathan our waiter was just above and beyond great. We had the mozzarella salad and it was so refreshing after the heavy soul food we’ve been eating. I loved this place.

My friend and I came here for dessert. We had gone to a restaurant earlier and wanted to walk the calories a half and make room for dessert and so that is what we did and we ended up here. She ordered a banana foster bread pudding. She thought that the bread pudding itself wasn’t all that great but the banana foster sauce was very good. I ordered the crêpe with Nutella and banana and it was very good but it was a lot! We both ordered Chickory coffee and we’re disappointed as it was not very good in comparison to somewhere like ‘Café du Monde’ which makes it in a café au lait style. The restaurant itself is tiny but very nice inside and the service is very good. The prices are extremely reasonable. It is in a very good location of the French quarter and very close to Bourbon street. This restaurant for us is ‘meh, I have had better’. What makes it cool is the nice service and the fact it is very cute inside.

We really only came here for drinks. My husband said the coffee is «fine.» Our waitress Amandabwas really nice even when she realized we weren’t eating. I have 4 stars instead of five because they have delicious unsweet tea, but no *sweet* tea. This is still the South. C’mon!

This place is a gem. The service was just slow enough to really get a good look at the place and the interesting menu, but it was a busy night and our server was very friendly with a great sense of humor. No complaints. The food was absolutely delicious. The chicken/sausage jambalaya and shrimp and grits were highlights, the strawberry salad and crêpe rounded the meal out perfectly. I’d happily go back to eat here every night. The building is absolutely charming and the prices are very fair for the quality and the location.

Food was good — but service was terrible! I had the snapper with vegetables and spinach and it was very good. Also tried the crab cake appetizer and it was very tasty. We were a party of 9 girls with a reservation. The waiter was super rude! He would just say things like«you drinkin’?» instead of «what would you like to drink ma’am?». Beware if you are a big group because they won’t split your bill more then 3 ways. When we asked for separate checks at the end, the waiter started cursing and was pissed at us! What?!? Then he couldn’t even remember who had ordered what items. The rest of the staff seamed unprofessional also. One waiter was sitting in a chair right by the front door eating a plate of food and didn’t give a damn! In the end, our waiter gave us 3 bottles of champagne ‘on the house’…but probably only because there was already 20% gratuity included on the check — so he was getting paid no matter what.

We easily made a reservation online for this place the day that we wanted to go. It’s a small little place near Bourbon Street and we were greeted by a friendly host at the door. He told us that our table was just getting up and he would seat us in a few. Our waiter was really friendly and made great recommendations for things to get on the menu. The 5 of us all got different things, I tried the steak and was very happy with it. It was a little under cooked for my liking but that’s better than over cooked. The waiter told us that the Louisiana trio was pretty cliché to order but my friend ordered it anyway because, when in NOLA! She was really happy with hers as well. We ordered some beignets for dessert as it was suggested on Unilocal.I will say they were good, but not as good as Café Beignet! Our waiter also told us that depending on the night they will open it up as a bar at night as well!

Directly across from Antoine’s, the ambiance of Café Soule itself was quintessential French Quarter. The building itself has an interesting history and we enjoyed our meal here. My chicken florentine crêpe($ 9.25) was large and flavorful. I would certainly order it again. My sister said her shrimp creole($ 12.75) was only so-so, and she didn’t enjoy it too much. She’s never had it before, so she didn’t have much to compare it to. My mom said her crab cakes($ 11.50) were quite good and full of lump crab and a zesty remoulade sauce. My dad was underwhelmed by his barbeque shrimp and grits($ 14.00). Overall, the items were hit or miss. Our server was very sociable and adequately took care of our needs. The prices and portions were very fare, especially for the location and ambiance. Café Soule is a solid option in the french quarter.

I found this little side-street restaurant by accident when I visited NOLA in December of 2013. I had some really excellent gumbo and a mojito there. when I was visiting again last week with my cousin, we stopped in. she had never been to Louisiana at all and wanted to experience the best variety of local food we could get our hands on. we ordered the New Orlearns Trio(Shrimp Creole, Crawfish Étouffée, and Jambalaya) to split between us, along with some sweet tea. each of the three was absolutely delicious. prices were very reasonable, presentation and atmosphere were pretty classy but we didn’t feel out of place in our blue jeans. the service was excellent and the ambience was cozy.

From the outside, it looks cute. The windowed doors were open, some outside seating, crown molding inside, high ceilings, candles, chalkboard writing etc. But this places needs a deep cleaning and upgrade. It’s a little dingy inside and the roof was leaking water in some spots. Service was friendly and the menu is your standard New Orleans offering. I had the crawfish etoufee which was a bit disappointing because it did not have a lot of crawfish and what was there was super tiny. However, the flavor was really good — spicy but overwhelming. It came with rice and bread. Cheap pricing but there are other better options.

Headed here for a late solo lunch on a Saturday. The place was packed but it seems as though it’s always that way. I ended up being seated outside, which as a northerner visiting in winter warms my heart — except that they also make all their waiting patrons stand outside… right next to me. The meal itself was just okay — a recommendation from Unilocal and the waitress herself, I went with the crab cake benedict dish. I highly advise adding on the optional fried green tomatoes, as these were the tastiest part of the dish.

Harvey B was awesome! Sat in the friendly«drinking» section, next to the window with a view of the goings on outside. The French Dip was amazing(but the au jus was a tad salty). One of our party had the shrimp and eggplant stack. It was a work of art. Ambiance was nice and the place filled quickly. One of our great stops in Nawlins. And ended the night with a sincere and heartfelt handshake from Harvey. You can tell he really cares and enjoys his work!

We were having a great time in New Orleans, and then we came here… It was Valentine’s Day, and we were looking to end our last night in NOLA with some dessert And cocktails. We had eaten a big dinner a few hours before, so we weren’t looking for a full meal. First, our Open Table reservation didn’t go through or something, so the host mildly gave us some grief, sat us in waiting for a couple of minutes, then seated us(there were a few empty tables). Then it starts to be a suckfest. We ordered our drinks, those were pretty good. The pear cocktail they have is delicious. The French 75 was ok. Then our waiter cAme back and took our order. We were sort of hungry again, so we ordered two of their appetizers. This did not go over well with our waiter. He asked«just the 2 things?». We said yes and then he rushed off and I saw him shake his head in annoyance as he walked away. So to continue his ass-holery, we finished our drinks a few minutes after ordering and our waiter never came by to check on us for about 10 minutes or more. We flagged down another waiter and let him know we wanted some more of their 10 dollar cocktails. Why our waiter wouldn’t be quick to try and feed us drinks, a dingleberry would know better… Got our new drinks, our waiter comes over and tries to be apologetic and fake friendly, whatever. All the food is overcooked. Shrimp was tough, fried green tomatoes bland, crab cakes burnt. At that point, we were over it and weren’t spending any more money there. Asked for the check and jetted. We went and had dessert at a place that knows decent service, Café du Monde. For a place trying to pawn of as an authentic French café, it’s all fake. There was 90s alternative rock music playing in the place the whole time and basketball on the tv at the bar… I didn’t have to go 3 doors down to hear 3 Doors Down. All the wait staff seemed annoyed and fake friendly, and the food was subpar. Never doing it again.

This place was so delightful. We had Harvey as our waiter, and he was incredibly personable and made sure to take care of us. I went there tonight with a group of friends. The four of us were realistic about trying to find an open restaurant on Valentine’s Day evening, so we expected that we’d most likely hit an hour wait anywhere, but we called around and Café Soule found a way to fit us in within 10 minutes of our call. When we got there, the waitstaff greeted us like we were friends, sat us as early as possible, joked with us and put us at ease immediately. It was such a wonderful experience. The food was great, and the Moscow Mules were on point. We had so much fun, and Harvey was«a gangsta.»(His words, not mine.) Thank you for all your Southern Hospitality and for Common Courtesy. We sincerely appreciated it all.

Just came here for desserts and to chill after a long day of walking. I had the bread pudding with ice cream. Pretty delicious and since I’ve never had it prior to dining here, I have nothing to compare it to. Read reviews that their beignets were better than Café Du Monde, my companions and I had to try it out. I personally didn’t like how it was made here. It’s not as messy(the confectioner sugar sticks to the bun more), but it’s crispy and not as soft as Café Du Monde. Otherwise our service and the ambiance was great!

Is it possible to give this place more than 5 stars? Because… It. Was. Amazing. The food was the best meal we had in Nola, the service was excellent. Suzanne was AMAZING(and adorably sassy). She took our group of six in on Fat Tueaday, which is a time that it probably super stressful for most of the service industry, and treated us like queens. The food was just… incredible. Crawfish étouffée was to die for, cocktails were stout and delicious. I can’t say enough great things about this place. Definitely recommend!!!

Service 3⁄5 Food 4⁄5 Atmosphere 3.5÷5 The good: Probably the best breakfast I had in New Orleans. Partially because it was a new place to me and I hadn’t had crab cakes on the entire trip yet. We got there around 12:30pm, which I was hoping for their lunch menu that I browsed back in the hotel room for some crab cake sliders. Instead, their breakfast menu had a couple options I was interested in and decided on the Eggs Soule. GETIT. It’s like eggs benedicts meets crab cakes and they fall in love. Several people at our table ordered this and all loved it. The café opens up to the street on good weather days and it’s really cute. Bathrooms are clean. Also, they take online reservations so it was easy to put our names down before we headed over! The bad: Café Soule was able to accommodate two large parties but was a pretty snug space. Another waitress was trying to squeeze through and rain into two chairs in between. Our waitress did some pretty strange things, like offer the rest of the table some pancakes my MIL couldn’t finish. She actually said«Does anybody else want this?» as she was cleaning up her area. In addition, she pointed out things like«you didn’t finish this» or «you finished it». Felt weird to have commentary on people’s amount of food left. Cucumber-infused Bloody Mary: okay, nothing special and was pushed by our waitress. Husband felt like it was an up charge and probably would have preferred a normal bloody mary. Mimosa was good, for $ 5 it was pretty light on the champagne but yummy.

With a 1+ hour wait for Stanley, we decided to walk over here instead. Glad we did! Food was delicious, and though, as some have said, service was slow, it was not because they were just slacking. Everyone was hustling, but. more importantly, everything was yummy. For drinks– Cucumber Bloody Mary was outrageously good, so was the Soule Aulait. Started with some beignets while we were waiting for our meals, they were piping hot and really just as good as Café du Monde. My crawfish omelette was great, so was the French dip and crawfish étouffée(which appeared to be closely related to the omelette). Only complaint was the rub on the blackened shrimp and fried green tomato po’boy. It was way too salty. The monte cristo was decadent but delicious. Picture a sandwich wrapped in a beignet, with a side of jelly. OMG! We were back in the hotel before Stanley rang to let us know our table was ready– oh well, maybe next time. Meanwhile, we had a great brunch anyway.

On a christmas day, we are looking for a place to have our brunch. We also wanted the place to have no queues. I know we are asking for a lot. We tried our luck on Café Beignet and the line was out on the streets. Using the same ideology as those grapes are sour, we took a chance on Café Soule. Surpisingly this place was not as crowded as we would expect. We had our first foray at the much acclaimed beignets. We ordered the regular beignets over their banana foster specialty beignets. The café au lait complemented the beignets well. I ordered the crawfish omelette off the today’s special menu. It was good but not really great. The staff were courteous and gracious enough to find us a high chair for our toddler from the restaurant across the road. They have a lot of varieties ini the menu, maybe some other time Bottomline: Good food coupled with courteous service.

When hunting for brunch spots in the French Quarter, most places have long wait lines. Traveling with a toddler, waiting to be seated can be stressful. So if you want to skip the lines, this is where you should head! Tucked away in a cozy corner, this old mansion turned restaurant serves some great breakfast. We tried our first beignets here. The café au lait was great, but after eating my share of fried food at NC state fair for years, the beignets didn’t blow my mind. After reading great reviews about their café soule benedict, I decided to go for it even though I don’t usually prefer my eggs runny. It turned out that I actually ended liking it :) The biscuits weren’t great(Nola’s biscuits kinda disappointed me!) However the combination of eggs, crab cakes & fried green tomatoes was great. Their menu looked great too. So next time I’m hungry, I know I can head here straight for good food & service

They have happy hour from 3 to 8PM everyday! This was our first meal upon our arrival in New Orleans and I’m so glad we stopped by here. We started off with the fried green tomatoes, it sounded so yummy and like the dish to try on their appetizer menu. I wasn’t too hungry when we arrived, so I only ordered the strawberry salad, but added fresh crab on top. My hubby had their special of the day that was red fish on a bed of rice, crawfish and some other goodness. I ended up having three martinis here and shouldn’t have had the third one since I was finding myself in my happy place, fast. I poured the third martini in a ‘to go’ cup, so I was able to sip on it more as we wandered through the rest of the French Quarter. Would we go back? Most definitely! Food was great, service was excellent and they have an awesome happy hour worth checking out!

Hands down, BBQ shrimp and grits was the best I tried on the menu. We stopped by for a late lunch and ended up staying in this cute little restaurant for about 3 hours, eating and drinking. Like I said, BBQ shrimp and grits is a must, you will not be disappointed. We also grabbed the fried green tomatoes(good, but could have used a bit more sauce), the tomato and mozzarella salad and a bowl of French onion soup. The French onion soup was my only complaint, the broth was a little too herby. The waitress was great and gave us some fabulous ideas from food to drinks.

This could be filed under«Almost a great dinner». As me and friends were looking for a place to eat, Café Soule was our destination. It has an overall great review on Unilocal and from briefly looking at the menu, they offered some entrees that we would have liked to try. However, there was a wait for a table and hence this was only an «almost a great dinner». The wait for a table for six was approximately 40 minutes. There’s a little wait area behind the hostess desk to sit down and wait. While we waited, one of the bartenders/waitress came out and took our drink orders. Super cool and friendly(and cute as well!) The drinks came and we drank and we waited. The manager(I assume) would periodically came by to tell us that it’s only going to be a few more minutes, etc. The staff who would walk by would smile and greet us. Overall, a whole bunch of friendly people. The manager came back and told us that it was going to another five minutes until we would be seated and that’s when disaster struck. One of my friends lost the battle against alcohol and threw up in the wait area. Oh well, that’s that. We figured that we would have to(A) leave or(B) get kicked out. We opted to graciously leave. We got our super awesome and cute waitress and closed our tab, apologized profusely for making a mess, and left her a hefty tip for taking such good care of us. So, although we didn’t get the opportunity to try any food that Café Soule had to offer, the level of service given to us by the entire staff was exceptional. I couldn’t have asked for more smiling faces. Thank you Café Soule for not kicking us out immediately after our friend made a mess(or even awhile after) and sorry for making a big mess. We know that the restroom was only a few steps away and had we known that he was going to make such a mess, one of us would have taken him to the restroom. Keep up the great work with the service and I will definitely be back in the future.
