This place has such a relaxed vibe. My latte was good and I had the egg quinoa breakfast bowl. The bowl was nothing exciting but it felt like a clean fresh breakfast.

Loved this place. We tried so many dishes — the blue cheese crêpe, Nutella crêpe, caprese sandwich, egg and ham sandwich, horchata chia pudding. EVERYTHING was amazing! We went back three times over the course of two days because we kept wanting to try more. You seriously cannot go wrong going here for any meal of the day!

Very unique, stylish creperie/café in the heart of downtown New Orleans. If you are tired of crab cake benedicts, crawfish omelettes, and other New Orleans-ish type food(which I dearly LOVE btw), Merchant is a nice change of pace. Beautifully made sweet or savory crêpe creations, among other things. Staff is very friendly and enthusiastic. The food and drinks are handmade just behind the counter. Had a green tea matcha with almond milk, a lemon curd crêpe, and a sandwich with lox, cream cheese, capers on baguette. DELICIOUS. A nice change of pace in a city full of oysters and shrimp. Loved it!

We wandered into this little gem whilst looking for some caffeine one morning. What we found was a great spot for both beverage and study. Great vibe with limited seating and some great décor. The place is super modern — so much so it feels like you’ve walked into the coffee section of IKEA! The gals working at the counter were very friendly and walked us through a couple drinks very nicely. I ended up with a Chicory latte and it was amazing. Great flavor and, as I’d been told, Chicory chunks that show up near the bottom and provide a little cud of shorts to chew on — while not previously digested, it was very soft and gave off just a little more flavor. Very close to the French Quarter and quick block walk from the Roosevelt — probably where we’ll be heading tomorrow as well! Well worth checking out.

Ahhhhh freakin mazing… Absolutely blown away by the service, the friendliness, and the food. I had«The Cure» with egg and OMG. It was delicious. We also had the Loxsmith which is great for those whom are lovers of Salmon, and the prosciutto — they have GLUTENFREE options! Winter(one of the lovely host) is wonderful, and recommended everything that we are and turned out to be wonderful. She is also extremely friendly and def a valuable asset to this place! Her coffee making skills are on point and its def made with love!

Having tried the latte at Merchant a few weeks ago, I have been successfully ruined. I think it is some of the best coffee in town, as Italian as it gets. I’ve had one meal: a load of raw spinach with a bit of quinoa topped with an egg and light olive oil. Simple, but great with the high quality oil.

I stayed at an Airbnb near Merchant and came here for breakfast a couple mornings and everything was great. The figamajig on ciabatta was as delicious as it sounds — the runny egg yolk paired very well with the fig jam, turkey, and goat cheese. I ordered it to go and ate it on a shuttle bus and must have made all the other passengers jealous. I also got to try the green tea matcha latte and the acia+chia pudding and both were also very well executed. I highly recommend Merchant if you’re in the mood for a slightly nicer coffee shop/breakfast!

Came here on a weekday morning while on a work trip in NO. It’s a small location with counter only ordering. The menu is simple and healthy. They serve illy coffee. They was popular crepes and a variety of yogurt bowls. I had the ham and cheese crêpe and a parfait. I was hungry. Both were very tasty and fresh. Overall, the food was good and all my co workers enjoyed their meals.

Looking for available and interesting breakfast stops in New Orleans would seem rather easy at first glance to ones maps on their phone, not so mon ami. During a long weekend visit we tried many places that are recommended, Du Monde(horribly over long lines, over an hour long), Café Beignet(waaaaaay overrated, crowded and understaffed). Even tried both Ruby Slipper cafes. Over an hour wait at both. In our morning despair looking for at least a place that offered eggs, we discovered by chance, The Merchant. A great looking find! Modern, sleek white interior, generous sized bar, very clean and well staffed. Taking residence in what appeared to be a former bank, the high Spartan ceilings and marble surfaces gave it a cool almost European flair that differs from the brick and rustic beam look generally found in the city. Seating was limited however, and the community table in the center of the dining room was overtaken by only a handful of people apparently not versed in the concept of sharing a space. They were sprawled all over the table making the other seating side non usable. Not the proprietors problem directly, but with limited space, better planning for groups of 4 or more would be helpful. They specialize in crepes, coffee, and breakfast sandwiches. I ordered a lemon curd crêpe and latte. Members in my gathering ordered the banana and Nutella crêpe, fig and turkey sandwich, and lox crêpe. My latte was good and hot and had a nice balance of milk to espresso. The arriving food items were of a simple, minimalist concept. Sandwiches were just that; a sandwich maybe 2″ x 5″ with no extraneous fluff. Being a breakfast sandwich, even a basic fruit fan with a balsamic reduction on the side would have been something. The crepes were of a similar presentation, a simple folded fan with a small amount of whipped cream. Speaking only of my lemon curd crêpe, it had a nice uniform thickness, chewy and overall well made. The filling of curd was wanting however, being smack in the center of the crêpe and only of a small portion. Fellow diners were of a similar mindset, feeling that overall the portions and wan presentation was too minimal. A light quick bite The Merchant provided, but if you want a bit more traditional fare, you will have to wait in line with the rest of the tourists or click your ruby heels hoping for a table to quickly materialize.

Cute café with some decent cold brew. I got the caprese on baguette which was just ok, the bread was super crunchy and hard. My friends however got the sandwich with fig, egg and goat cheese which was pretty tasty. Not the friendliest service. A decent option for coffee and quick snack.

My first stop here was a requirement to life. I was about to pass out from being awake too long but still had a full night of planned activities to accomplish before I could crash. Since this was right down the block from our hotel, my friend and I headed in for quick espresso shots. The next time we walked in, a couple days later, we were much more awake and ready to eat. Their savory crepes looked delicious, so I ordered the turkey, goat cheese and fig crêpe, and completed the meal with an Americano. This was amazing, albeit not at all typical Southern fare. Still, I scarfed that thing down so quickly(which is relative because I eat at the speed opposite of light) and was also happy with my side salad. If you want a light yet filling lunch in the CBD, definitely stop here.

While I loved experiencing the local flare of NOLA, Merchant was a much needed and appreciated break from the southern experience. Merchant is your quintessential, upscale coffee shop. It has a trendy look and gourmet food. Even with these fabulous qualities, it didn’t have a high price tag or snooty employees that other similar establishments tend to have. Visit number one was for expresso. Visit number two was for the cold brew and a turkey + fig crêpe/ciabatta hybrid. It had the turkey, goat cheese, egg and fig of the ciabatta but on the crêpe minus the spinach. They were so kind as to add a side salad which didn’t originally make its way onto my plate. The food and both beverages were stellar. The service was excellent. The café was adorable, and dare I say, northern. Without hesitation, I’d be a regular if this place was closer to home.

Finding good coffee(i.e. European style) in the US is a challenge but this little place is great. Chic décor, groovy tunes but best of all a good coffee — the right size(we like 6−8oz) and the right temperature. If anything the coffee could be a little stronger. Although they do use Illy beans which are known to be more mild. Service is excellent and the menu looks to have some yummy items that are worth a trip back for.

Continuing my crêpe kick after visiting the French Market, I was glad to find a coffee shop nearby the Omni Royal Crescent Hotel that would be open early in the morning before our flight. After about a 5 minute walk, we found a refreshingly different place with a bunch of different food and beverage options. Need something strong to get you through many more hours of drinking? Merchant’s got your back. I was told by the barista that their chai is particularly strong and downgraded to just a latte and it was great. They serve illy coffee here. Oh yeah, back to the crêpe. I just got a Nutella banana crêpe. It was served within a few minutes of ordering and was cooked perfectly. My husband’s smoked ham ciabatta sandwich was incredibly delicious and unique. Maybe it was the crunchy ciabatta bread, or the smoked ham that was thinly sliced, or maybe the goat cheese. Either way, thumbs up to this! BUT, know that it won’t fill you up if you’re really hungry. The baristas are friendly and the place was bright and clean! Please move to my neighborhood.

I used to work near this place and would stop in from time to time. Not sure why it took me so long to write a review… A great spot to work from in the CBD. The Chai Latte is my personal favorite. The crepes are very good as well.

A little different than the usual Nola cuisine, but maybe something to set the bowels back into normal function. This cancels out all the fried alligator and beignets for the last 5 days right? Overall good, fast service and great food. I got the egg + speck on a crêpe, which was perfect for a refreshing and savory breakfast. The server recommended eggs over easy and the yolk was a nice creamy addition to the salty speck. My boyfriend ordered the quinoa and a macchiato — both of which were also very good. I had a bite — not as good as the crêpe — of course — but he likes to eat a little healthier. Servers were also very courteous. Another table received their food slightly earlier(though they apparently ordered later — I didn’t notice, but the server did) and she made sure to ask why my food wasn’t out first. Little things like show me that they do care for both their service AND food. She said they are looking to open in Houston — I’m looking forward to it!

Grabbed a quick bite here with my sister this morning. Had the«Prosciutto» crêpe with prosciutto, tomato, fontina, balsamic, onion, basil, and truffle butter. It came with a salad and I had a cup of cappuccino as my beverage. The crêpe was very nice as was the cappuccino. The side salad was bland and uninteresting and seem to be more of a placeholder or an afterthought. The Decour was bright and open and sparse but stylish with interesting local art. The staff was friendly and professional. I would definitely go back and try some more of their crepes as well as some of their coffees.

Had a very poor experience at this place. Their acai chia bowl is really strange — it has the texture of oats. Maybe that’s how the texture is supposed to be but it didn’t taste nice at all. For $ 8 I would expect more than that. Service here is pretty bad. The staff at the counter are all so unfriendly and unhelpful. One looked super grumpy and when I asked her questions she replied as if I was asking something really dumb. What? Though I really love the look and feel of this place, it’s definitely not a place I would recommend.

Found this little gem on Unilocal — thanks Unilocalers! My friend and I I wanted a light breakfast, and wanted to go someplace where we wouldn’t have to wait a while to get in, and more importantly, was close to our hotel. We lucked out because this place was literally a block away from our hotel. Loved the décor — very modern and minimalistic — all white. They had plenty of seating in two separate areas. And the servers were very friendly and patient with answering our questions about the menu. I ended up getting the fig’ajam’jig sandwich, which was made with egg, turkey, goat cheese, and fig on ciabiatta bread(toasted). It was really good. I also got a large latte, and even though it was delicious, I thought it was kind of small for a «large» size. My friend got a turkey + fig crêpe, with goat cheese, fig jam and spinach. I had a bite, and I have to say, even though I liked my sandwich, I liked her crêpe better. Delicious — the flavors worked so well together. I would definitely get that the next time I go back. Overall, a really good breakfast in a great space. Can’t wait to go back!

I know — its NOLA and I should be eating gumbo, crawfish and oysters. But I’ve now been here twice in as many days and if I were staying longer I’d probably come back again. The prosciutto crêpe is one of the best things I’ve ever had — its got truffle butter for Christ’s sake. Truffle butter. On a crêpe. Mind. Blown. Top it off with illy coffee and espresso served in hand painted cups and I’m super sold. Go here immediately.

I wish I had found this place as soon as I arrived in NOLA. Go here. The food is fresh and delicious and the staff is very friendly. This morning I had a small chicory latte and a Parma croissant. Let me tell you, it’s a bit pricy, but it’s worth it. The croissant was so fluffy and soft and the sandwich was perfectly cooked right in front of me. I’d never had chicory coffee before NOLA, but if I could replicate this every day, I totally would. That chicory latte was small, delicious, and mighty.

Apparently, their chai is the only chai in the city that is made in-house. It was decent and I enjoyed how hot and small my portion size was. It’s more on the pricey side. The interior is beautiful. It reminds you of what a young and hip coffee shop next to a fancy tech company would be like. It combines artsy and fun shapes and sizes. I would stay longer if I could. The horchata pudding wasn’t so great. It was expensive and there wasn’t much flavor to it. I’ll be back to try their pastries, especially their almond croissant. Several people bought that while I was waiting in line.

Hipster coffee shop in a luxury rental building. The problem is I actually don’t think they have good coffee. I got a large almond milk latte with chicory. They use illy so the coffee itself is ok. But I didn’t like that the chicory powder is poured into the already-done latte so it hardly dissolves. But their breakfast menu looks really cool and hip(chia pods, quinoa, crepes etc). Service is friendly and everyone working here is good looking. The price in my opinion is pretty good considering how much coffee you get(large latte has 3 shots of espresso). I wouldn’t recommend here for a New Orleans experience, but definitely come here if you need a quick healthy bite.

Came here after a few other brunch places were packed. I was glad to see there’s actually relatively healthy food available in New Orleans! I got the Parma sandwich on ciabatta — it’s delicious but messy! I ended up eating it with a fork and knife. Also got an iced latte which was good but I had to add a little extra milk to it(just a personal preference for it to be light). Shared an apple turnover pastry with my boyfriend and it was delicious. There’s plenty of vegetarian and non-vegetarian options, too. It’s a great option if you’re looking for some lighter food in New Orleans!

Such a nice spot. I had a savory crêpe that was wonderful and came with a little side salad, French style. I didn’t have coffee but it looked really good and they seemed to take care in making it. One thing to note, there’s no bottled water except sparkling pellegrino, so keep that in mind if you want something to go. Also, the two women working at the counter seemed to have a lot of trouble communicating with each other about who was doing what and ending up making duplicate coffee orders for people. They have the whole menu all day, so it’s a good spot for a late breakfast or early lunch!

It took me two days to finally try something relatively healthy for a change(love the food in the south, just can’t handle it for every meal). This café is tucked into what looks like a business building — a modern look on the inside that contrasts the homely feel of NOLA. Tons of interesting options… settled on the on the fig’ama’jig sandwich($ 7.50) and an iced coffee($ 4). Gotta love the fig spread, great flavor combination with the turkey, runny egg, and goat cheese. Bread was a little tough to get through as all the yolk leaked out, though good to sop up the extra ingredients with. Coffee was a medium bitter and required a healthy amount of sugar — wish they had the liquid sugar to add into the iced coffee(given all the ice cubes). Service here is pretty friendly, and despite the line we were able to get a table for four easily on a Saturday morning.

Probably one of the few places in New Orleans that offer healthy alternatives. When you get tired of eating fried food and want to start your day with something fresh and healthy this is the place to come to. I was a little disappointed that they no longer have the pumpkin granola parfait. Instead they have a regular Greek yogurt parfait which I did not try. However I did try there Acai Chia seed pudding cup as well as their horchata chia seed pudding cup. Both were super healthy. Lots of fiber, fruit, and chia seeds and tasted well. I also got their chickoree latte which was good. Ambience here feels like you’re in SF. Bring back the pumpkin parfait!

Can merchant please pick up and move to philly? I would probably be broke but at least my belly would be satisfied. I came across this clean and modern looking café looking on Unilocal for something different and more interesting than the heavy grits or sugary beignets I was experiencing in the French quarter. Their menu seemed right up my alley so I decided to check it out. I knew pretty much instantly what I wanted. Smoked salmon. Goat cheese. Runny egg. On a crêpe? Basically my dream combination. You can get all their crepes for breakfast with an egg or for lunch with a side salad. I obviously went the breakfast route and it was a great decision. The crêpe was flaky, the smoked salmon salty, and the goat cheese was creamy and delicious, all sopped up with a perfectly cooked over easy egg. The onions and capers added a nice crunch and texture to the dish. So yum! I could have downed another one easily. I also got an iced coffee, which was good as well. I docked one star for price. The food was delicious but I was still a bit hungry after and I really feel like I shouldn’t be after spending 15 bucks on breakfast(including coffee). Regardless, you should go!

When you need a break from deep fried NOLA, this is a great place to stop. I went for the«blue» crêpe, subbing out blue cheese for goat cheese to accompany green apples, nuts, honey, and spinach. The coffee menu is extensive, as are the healthy, and delicious sounding breakfast sandwiches, acai bowls, and sweet/savory crepes.
