Great food! Great service! Very knowledgable staff. I don’t drink alcohol, but they brought me a soda that was made in house and delicious. Definitely would go again!

Great service! Perfect for a date… quite costly though and not for the budget minded. You will average between $ 80-$ 100 per person — more with alcohol. Lots of hard to pronounce items on the menu… so if you’re thinking you’ll come in and grab the filet and lobster… it’s not the place. Lots of «Buffalo Duck Empapa Del Sol Cream Chili Beef Crust Tartar» and so on. Very eccentric menu. so if you’re a pipeliner and just snagged your girl a Michael Kors after you return home and thought this place may be a nice touch… just stick to Long Horns for your demographic bc this place will blow your mind. Other that… enjoy!

I had the Rabbit Rushing which I gather is a specialty dish named after the head chef. It was the most ridiculous, irresponsibly delicious item I ate all week — and that’s during a week spent in New Orleans mostly for the purpose of eating. Perfect breading, with meat that seemed to have been brined in buttermilk, on top of creamed collard greens with a nice spring to them, drizzled with this fantastic jus that had little pieces of pickled pork in it. I tasted a few other items and all were delicious, but that rabbit is blocking out my memories of the other food even though it was all tasty. After I recovered from this meal, we went back later that night just for drinks and dessert. We tried a couple small things, there was this crazy deconstructed piña colada cake where all the elements of the cake were separate and you eat them together, it was fun and each ingredient stood up on its own. There was also a bread pudding that was built around this indulgent boozy custard. Both times I visited, the waitstaff was polite and presented the dishes in an entertaining way. Highly recommended.

Wonderful experience! From the food to the service, everything was top notch! Get a reservation because tables fill up fast. AMBIANCE Very old school classy. You’ll want to dress up for any meal here. I was considering wearing jean shorts and a tank top for breakfast here, and I’m soooo glad I ended up wearing a summer dress. You’ll feel very out of place if you dress down here, especially since all of the waiters are wearing vests and bow ties. The restaurant looks small, but is actually quite big. There are multiple dining rooms(all with different colored themes) and even a courtyard out back! The bathrooms are amazing and they even provide Mrs. Meyer’s hand soap and plush towels instead of paper towels. Super fancy! FOOD The bread is nice and soft and comes with pink himalayan salted butter! Jackson Salad $ 9 — Surprisingly good! I loved the quail eggs and blue cheese. Grapefruit Brûlée $ 6 — SOGOOD! Get this! The grapefruit is torched with sugar so you don’t taste the bitterness and instead get a nice sweet crunch. I’m drooling just thinking about it. Rabbit Rushing $ 28 — Kind of like eggs benedict, but with fried rabbit and collard greens instead of carbs. The greens were a bit salty, but the rabbit was fried to perfection! Eggs Cardinal w/Fried Oysters $ 23 — This doesn’t come with fried oysters but you can add them, which I recommend. Very yummy if you’re a fan of eggs benedict! There’s even bacon in the hollandaise sauce! Cajun Bloody Mary $ 10 — The chipotle vodka is delicious. I don’t even like bloody marys and I liked this one. Sparkling Strawberry $ 10 — The servers tell you it’s like a strawberry mimosa and it is! Very light and refreshing. Recommend, especially if you’re not trying to get drunk. Bananas Foster $ 20 — Of course you have to get this if you come here. This place created bananas foster! Minimum is 2 orders though, and each order is $ 10, so you’ll have to spend at least $ 20 on this. I think it’s because they flambé it table-side for you and there’s that extra service from the waiter. Also because you only get half a banana per order. SERVICE GREAT service. The waiters were knowledgeable about all the food and offered wonderful recommendations. They even switch out your waters between the main course and dessert! I wasn’t sure why they were taking away my perfectly full cup of water, but then I realized that they were giving me a new, clean cup of water for dessert! Details, details. And you know they’re the real deal when they have a crumb scraper. The waiters will listen to your conversation and swoop in to provide the answers to all of your questions. Not sure if that’s creepy or overly good service. I was wondering aloud something on the menu when our server stepped in and answered my question. Another time, I was telling the bf how my food was a bit salty when another, more dressed up server(maybe the manager?) came in and opportunistically asked me how I was enjoying my food. Slightly creepy, but at least they care. OVERALL Definitely coming here again next time I’m back in New Orleans! We had a reservation for 8am and the place filled up quick after that, so I highly recommend making reservations. Expensive, yes. But worth it? HECKYES. Save this for a special occasion if don’t feel like splurging for no reason.

Had the most wonderful time at Brennan’s last night. Tending to 13 of us was no small task, but everyone from our main waitier, MAX, to our lady sommelier, and the 2 other helping out made everything fun. The food was, of course, delicious. Thanks again for making Father’s Day dinner one memorable dining experience! ps: Nick, the kids enjoyed your humorous jokes!

superbly prepared and artfully presented. I half expected a security guard to warn«step back from that omlete!». The elegant atmosphere was accentuated with piped in Dixieland jazz, and the view of the Louisians Court of Appeals building out the window castes a stately backdrop. There s abeautiful courtyard inside. Overall a gracious and delicious experience. This place is the standard bearer for brunch in New Orleans. For overall experience this is unsurpassed. Easy walking distance to most hotels and the streetcar line. On the same block as many high-end antique stores and boutiques.

I recently visited Brennan’s with a large group and had a great experience. Upon first arriving, we were taking to a private room(due to the size of our group) that was lined in brick and right next to the wine room – an absolutely beautiful setting. The service was superb as well, though I lost count of the number of people attending to us. Here is a run down of the food I ordered and/or sampled: — Sparkling Strawberry: This cocktail features fresh strawberries, basil and sparkling wine. Though a bit on the sweet side for me, it was enjoyable.(I also sampled the Hibiscus Pimms cup and really enjoyed it.) — New Orleans BBQ Lobster: This dish was phenomenal, served with creole butter and a small baguette slice. Although you only get two small pieces of lobster for nearly $ 20, the flavor and richness is worth it. — Roasted Oysters: These were phenomenal as well, served with smoked chili butter and layered with a manchego crust. We ordered multiple rounds of this dish. — Vadouvan Spiced Black Drum: This was my choice for my main entrée and I have to say, I was a bit disappointed. I opted for the drum because I had never tried it before but had heard good things. The fish was served on a bed of Brussels sprouts(which were good), but it simply lacked the flavor I was looking for. It was supposed to come with butternut squash as well, which I didn’t receive. — Desserts: I had a sampling of the Bananas Foster, Crepes Fitzgerald and Praline Leidenheimer Bread Pudding. My favorite of this bunch would have to be the Bananas Foster, hands down(with the bread pudding as a close second). All in all, a great location with some wonderful dinner options. Plus, a phenomenal wine list(practically the weight of a phone book)!

Went to Brennan’s just for cocktails and Bananas Foster, since they created the dessert. Very attentive and courteous bar staff with a nice selection of drinks. The bananas foster is prepared and flambéed on a cart in front of you, while the serve provides a brief history of the dish. As with any dish that uses that amount of sugar and butter, the dessert was super yummy and if I remember correctly, $ 10 per person. The drinks were well made and not skimpy on the alcohol. If I had known more about the classy environment I probably would have dressed better, but they didn’t turn me away from the bar in my shorts and flip-flops. I wouldn’t hesitate to come back and have dinner here. Try«The Grassy Knoll» if you like a sweeter cocktail, it’s super yummy and takes days for them to prepare the lemongrass-infused vodka.

Brennan’s is iconic — it’s a real NOLA/southern dining experience. They formally address every patron, color coordinate napkins according to the color of a woman’s dress, and provides a real fine dining experience. For that alone, I suggest you come here and have yourself this experience. The food on the other hand, was rather, meh. I ordered the 2 course breakfast($ 28): turtle soup: this was unlike anything I have ever eaten. It’s made of turtle, brown butter spinach, grated egg, and aged sherry. The soup was thick, and it tasted really gamey. I appreciated the experience of having turtle soup, but I didn’t necessarily enjoy the flavors. One time is enough for me. eggs sardou: crispy artichoke, creamed spinach, + choron sauce. So, this was less than appetizing. The textures were all off because it felt slimy. The eggs sit on top of the cream spinach. The flavors were a little off and didn’t sit well together. I disliked my dish. I didn’t think it tasted good at all. My sister ordered their famous eggs hussarde($ 20). It’s their house version of eggs benedict. Coffee cured Canadian bacon with marchand de vin sauce, sits on top of housemade English muffins, and topped with hollandaise sauce. It was good, but not great, and not memorable. They’re really famous for their bananas fosters dessert, but we weren’t feeling it for breakfast. The patio area looks really nice as well. I think if you’re looking for one of those big, formal Southern brunches, do some research, but Brennan’s is a good option based on longevity and charm.

We held my sister’s 30th surprise birthday dinner here, and it lived up to its reputation. We had a private room in the back with three servers for our party of fifteen. Our drinks remained full, the servers always had a smile, and the atmosphere was beautiful. We were near the wine cellar, in a room with a long table and gorgeous mood lighting. We never felt rushed, and the servers felt very attentive. The food was pretty good – lost one start because my «medium» steak definitely seemed overcooked, even though I asked for it to be pink throughout. You live, you learn, and you order medium rare next time. Ha. The turtle soup was a highlight, as was the bread pudding. Both were amazing. I wasn’t a huge fan of the endive salad or the bananas foster I sampled from my husband, but, overall, a nice meal.

We came to Brennan’s for the original banana’s foster. I absolutely loved the décor. It definitely had the early 1900s French style, which is very fitting for an upscale restaurant in New Orleans. There were lots of soft colors and lovely Victorian era murals.(I will note that I’m not really a history buff so correct me if I’m wrong.) To sum it up, the word«frou-frou» comes to mind. Their famous banana’s foster is lovingly prepared in a cart in front of you by one of their dapperly dressed servers. The cooking process is actually very simple: They begin by melting together brown sugar, butter, and cinnamon. Next they add in the banana, sliced once lengthwise. They finish off the cooking process with the integral component — rum.(Yay fire!) Finally, they serve your flambéed banana with vanilla ice cream. For whatever reason, watching your dessert being prepared for you makes it feel even more special. If you have read this far, I hope you enjoyed the play-by-play. The bananas foster was really good. The banana was beautifully caramelized. The hot banana and caramel and cold ice cream just melted together deliciously. I will say the rum flavor was a bit strong for my underaged taste buds.(I was only 20 at the time.) Bananas foster at Brennan’s is definitely something you have to try at least once in your life time.

The décor was amazing. The rooms each had a name and theme. We dined I. The havana room. The wallpaper and fixtures were pineapple themed. Although to room was dimly lit, it was comfortable and one could see the food and those are their table for great vonversation. The staff was very attentive and communicated well. They were also very respectful in the way they addressed all those attending The fish(I don’t recall the type) was delicious and served on a butternut squash and sweet potato hash! There was also a light crazy sauce that enhances the flavor. These choices were based upon a preset menu. A chicken choice was served as well. I am not sure what the menu is for smaller parties but I’m sure it’s delicious and I look forward to returning one day.

Of course you have to visit this place! It’s home to the famous bananas foster. We had reservations at 9, but our table wasn’t ready so we got drinks at the bar I got the Caribbean milk punch and hibiscus Pimms cup. The hostess got us to tell us that are table was ready. The drinks were awesome. There is a self playing piano. The ambience was nice and the courtyard look great with a fountain. We had appetizers for dinner. I got the blue crab remoulade and New Orleans bbq lobster. They were delicious and light. I didn’t feel like eating a big meal b/c I wanted dessert and the famous bananas Foster was born here. You have to order two or more in order for them to make them. It’s great to watch them make it table side. The dessert was awesome. The sauce was not heavy or sweet and not too much liqueur. The ice cream was light and bananas were good. It’s a nice little show lol.

We stopped in here to have a wonderful meal but decided against it and just have a cocktail and some appetizers instead. Then proceeded to go to 3 more restaurants that night and do the same! God forbid we missed out on anything delicious to eat! But while we were here we had AWESOME service! I asked our waiter for 2 French fries(because they were truffle fries and they are my favorite) and he brought me a small little side plate of them on the house! Super sweet!!! Also had the scallops and the crab cake and I would definitely recommend them to any one! What a wonderful spot and a New Orleans fixture!

Well, this is it, been waiting a long time for Bananas Foster from the folks who invented it! Named after Richard Foster and friend of the owner Owen Brennan in 1951. Even more exciting the initial ambience and professional staff immediately set the tone for which the entire meal will be one of the best experiences in New Orleans. The front dining area is soft and cozy, while the next room behind feels trendy and bustling, including the bar seating area. There’s also outdoor patio seating in back. Thanks go out to Amanda who worked with my reservation ensuring a good seating! When I arrived, the host showed me to my seat in the front cozy area, which then Chistopher shortly arrived and took care during the evening. A superb gentleman both in politeness, easy conversation, knowledge ability to describe the menu. Equally his ability how to pair the perfect wine for the main course. To start off, had ordered a Martini on the rocks, with olives. Smooth as can be, wet, I enjoyed sipping it amongst conversation with a nearby couple. It’s just wonderful to converse with others, trade stories and learn new things! All the while sampling the bread and sea-salted butter(wow what good butter!) Next to follow was turtle soup, never tried such a thing but Christopher described it perfectly with the meat somewhat resembling bits of chicken in a dark deep flavor soup. Also note, it had a kick of pepper. By this time the wine arrived but really wanted to save for the main course and since we are in New Orleans they allow to take the bottle and savor while on the street! For the main course I was torn between the Lamb Rack Mirabeau or the Filet of Beef Stanley. I’m an aficionado of Filet Mignon and hard to please with a Rack of Lamb if it’s not from New Zealand. Again Christopher was on point and sold me on the Filet of Beef Stanley. The filet, medium to medium rare, pillow soft as can be. The two sauces on the plate complimented the steak either separately per bite or while combined with one another. An absolute joy in each bite to be able to change up the flavor(or keep the same). Time passed slowly with more conversation. What fun with that Filet, the horseradish-bananas and the side of creamed spinach(not too thick, yes!!) The wine? The Brunello was light enough and with character that did not overpower the steak. One of two of Christopher’s pairing recommendations from such a heavy wine list resembling a wizard’s book of spells! Indeed! Time for dessert, the long awaited Bananas Foster! Here, Brennans is known for their tableside presentation along with a brief history lesson. You feel the heat! After the flambé, a watered mouth awaits while snapping photos. Finally it hit with warm silky smooth bananas, sauce and ice cream. Eager taste buds are happy! Each mouthful went down just as slowly as dinner. This event surrounded by great views, good conversation with new people which enhanced the meal. Just as others around me have said, I will be back.

Brennan’s was truly exemplary in New Orleans. You are bound to have satisfying dishes at any time of the day. I’ve visited for breakfast and dinner and left wanting to come back both times. Their dishes are spectacular and full of heart and flavor. From their French toast or benedict to their fantastic roasted oysters or turtle soup, you can’t possibly go wrong with any of the menu items. My only recommendation is to avoid watching your diet, this is not the place for that. Their service is fast, friendly, professional in a conservative and old-world elegant setting. Mouth-watering dishes and top-notch service will make me return on my next visit to New Orleans.

What a lovely meal in New Orleans. Housed in a beautiful building, Brennan’s was a fantastic stop to cap off quite the culinary weekend. I ate with a good sized party, seven of us in total, and received excellent service overall. We started with a round of strawberry mimosas. The drinks were light a refreshing and made with freshly muddled strawberries and a mint sprig. We ordered a few different appetizers but the chargrilled oysters really stick out in my mind. Others couldn’t get over the candied, stuffed apple. All the entrees were fresh, delicious, and adequately sized. I hate portions that are too large and Brennan’s serves just the right amount. We enjoyed a range of breakfast staples to salads to heavier pastas. Each dish was fantastic and we enjoyed it with another round of cocktails. We finished the meal with coffees and desserts. I loved the bread pudding and my friends were raving about the crème brûlée. Overall, Brennan’s offered delightful food in a beautiful atmosphere with unobtrusive service. We will definitely be back.

I wanted a «fancy» elegant brunch while on our New Orleans trip and our concierge recommended Brennan’s and the reviews seems to agree so we gave it a try. It was within easy walking distance from our Hotel. the Saint. This is a nice place and lovely courtyard with cute turtles. The menu was a bit more gourmet than we prefer but I enjoyed our brunch very much. Brennan’s is a famous historic restaurant and we’d dined there for dinner but never breakfast. I had : Baked Apple with oatmeal pecan raisin crumble, brown sugar glaze, sweetened créme fraíche. In future would ask for extra oatmeal crumble. It was delish. EGGSSARDOU –crispy artichokes, Parmesan creamed spinach, choron saue $ 28 added side of white chedder grit which were very rich and creamy. yum I didn’t completely know what I was ordering but it was great and just the experience I was seaking. The fire pic was them making bananas foster at your table.

Quick service, and this is a nicer-higher venue, so dress appropriately Our server Randy was the main reason an excellent breakfast and desert were elevated to a memorable experience. Next, I tried and loved their CARIBBEANMILKPUNCH, it can serve as a dessert by itself for me! Then, Jackson Salad, perfect in refreshing my palate before sharing their EGGSCARDINAL, still dreaming of the creole mustard hollandaise! And last but not least, BANANAFOSTER, just right enough sweetness to my taste! Hours spent sipping, eating, chatting and laughing with the bartenders behind the counter and other guests sitting on the ostrich covered bar stools beside us! An afternoon treasured! Cheers!

We saved brunch at Brennan’s for our last day in Nola. Our server was excellent, reviewing the menu with us and giving suggestions. The dining room captain also stopped by and discussed his opinions with us. We chose 2 benedicts — the Sardu and the Cardinal. We really liked them both and they were very unique. We also had the biscuit with was wonderful. Our table overlooked the patio(it was cold and windy) and I would return and have exactly the same thing. Or maybe I’ll branch out since the menu was extensive and interesting. So nice when a restaurant lives up to the hype

Bananas Foster is a dessert made from bananas and vanilla ice cream, with a sauce made from butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, dark rum, and banana liqueur. The butter, sugar and bananas are cooked, and then alcohol is added and ignited. The bananas and sauce are then served over the ice cream. Preparation of the dish is often made into a tableside performance as a flambé. The dish was created in 1951 by Paul Blangé at Brennan’s in New Orleans, Louisiana. At this time New Orleans was a major hub for the import of bananas from South America. It was named for Richard Foster, the chairman of the New Orleans Crime Commission and a friend of restaurant owner Owen Brennan. It is on this basis we decided Brennan’s just had to be on our list. We already had dinner elsewhere so we asked whether we could just stop in for dessert. The reception at the check in was decidedly stiff. Perhaps because we weren’t dressed to the nines since we had spent the day walking throughout the French Quarter. We were seated at the bar. Service was adequate. The preparation was entertaining since this was prepared right next to you. The butter and sugar is initially melted, then the remaining ingredients added. Warning: this is SWEET. Too sweet for me even with the one scoop of ice cream. The hype, plus the preparation led to quite a letdown for me. Bourbon milk punch: meh. My first milk punch in New Orleans was from the Bourbon House where this was thick and creamy. The milk punch here is the consistency of milk where ice cream is not one of their ingredients. Aside from the consistency, I didn’t find this flavorful at all. From the bar seating, the ambiance in the dining area is, well, for fine dining. I felt fortunate they took pity on us and allowed us to hang out at the bar.

The best part about fine dining and exceptional service is getting that chance to live like those on «the other side», even if it’s for a few hours. I’ve dined at Brennan’s twice now for dinner, once right after their grand opening in the Winter of 2014 and again most recently this year(2016) and I can emphatically say that the experiences are on par with being«The Dinner of the Year.» It’s the meal I look forward to for all 12 months leading up to my return and I’ll likely think of my meal for a full year until the next visit. Between the food and the drinks, the menus are seasonal so if you only dine once or twice a year, expect to see different items each time. For the full experience, go for a «perfect check», cocktails, appetizers, entrees with sides, bottle of wine with dinner, desserts and after dinner drinks. Not sure if you can stomach at all? Fine dining tends to slow things down so that you can properly consume and digest as things go so you never feel so full you have to lie down or get wheeled out. If you go to Brennan’s for only one thing, make it the classic Brennan’s Banana’s Foster, as this restaurant was ground zero for it’s creation and historical cultivation. Nothing beats table side dessert preparation with fire!

What better place to review for my grand finale of 2015 than the legendary Brennan’s! Even though this is a frequent tourist destination, I would suggest making reservations; we made reservations and were seated as soon as we walked in. It was so hard deciding what to start with on this amazing menu– everything sounded incredible. I was torn between the gumbo, the turtle soup and the roasted oysters, but ultimately I decided to go with the oysters. Out came six large oysters topped with buttery bread crumbs and roasted to perfection. The oysters were nice and juicy and the bread crumbs added an amazing touch to the dish that couldn’t be topped. I was so glad that I made this appetizer choice. For my entrée I decided to get the Mahi Mahi amadine, which is a large piece of fish cooked with Marcona almonds, haricot verts and lemon butter. This fish was perfect. First of all, I loved the way it was cooked– flaky and smooth with tons of flavor(getting super technical here. ha). It was a perfect portion that left me satisfied, but not overly full. The almonds were a fantastic touch, and when they mixed with the butter they were a delicious addition to the fish. I had never had this type of fish before, so this was a real culinary adventure for me. Finally, because we were at the place where it was born, we had to get the Bananas Foster. Of course, they do the whole show here: they wheel the hot plate out to your table and prepare it right in front of you, all while giving you the history of Bananas Foster. The dessert itself is incredible. My experience with it here made me realize that I have never really had Bananas Foster before, even though I have enjoyed it at other restaurants. There is just something about the way that it is prepared here that just pushes it over the edge. The yummy, buttery caramel goodness poured over ice cream and served with slices of banana just can’t be beat and I am eager to return and have it again. The wait staff here is incredible. They are beyond attentive and in addition to our waiter Reggie, another man came over regularly to make sure that we were satisfied with everything and that we were having a good time. We were seated in the main dining room and I thought that was the perfect spot, but I would love to see the other rooms as well. I am so glad that Brennan’s is back and I would love to return to this New Orleans institution. I feel like this is one of the New Orleans staples that everyone should visit at least once in their life.

This is just so fancy. Player less piano playing in the background, exquisite decorations on the walls, polite service, white linens, they pull the chair out for you! A former coworker of mine who I had not seen in years and his wife are doing a road trip around the US to celebrate her retirement(he retired in 2004). She wanted to come here, as she had heard good things. Well, I had heard good things as well. We were not disappointed. We had no reservations, so came early, and we were seated promptly. The waitress was attentive without hovering, and we barely noticed refills on beverages that came without us even noticing. I ordered the duck hash, she ordered the eggs benedict and he ordered the french toast. The english muffins on her benedict were made in house. The food was awesome. Beyond reproach. I like how each interaction with an employee led to some tidbit of knowledge about the history of the restaurant and the building. Very informative. As our bellies were full, the waitress sat down desert menus. How sneaky! The crème brûlée and bananas foster were ordered. Let me tell you, the stories about the making of the bananas foster in front of you are true! It was amazing. Everything was delicious. Amazing. Everything was neat and clean. After we had eaten, the waitress said they had a turtle pond in the courtyard. We went back, and it was so cute! Both the turtle pond and the courtyard. I look forward to having rare amazing times in the future here for special occasions.

We had a larger group private party here and the food, service and pricing were all quite good. I don’t mean that the prices are low, it’s an expensive place, but given the chic environment and impeccable service, the prices are what should be expected. The ambiance is elegant, it’s a nice place for a celebration. It’s an interesting 19th century building, but the restaurant only dates back to about WWII. We came earlier than our group and met some interesting people at the bar, there’s a nice scotch selection. The one problem with coming here for a group event is that we couldn’t try some of the most interesting dishes on the regular menu, so we’ll just have to come back.

It pains me to give Brennan’s 3 stars, it really does. I was so looking forward to this my whole trip, and it was the last place I went before coming back home today. Our intentions were just to get the famous Banana Foster since we had already eaten dinner; however, we did order a few appetizers, as we were getting hungry again waiting for our table. I made a reservation for 4 for 8 pm last night; we arrived on time and were told it would be a few minutes, as they were running behind. After 10 minutes, I checked on the status and was told the table would be ready soon. At 8:15pm we were finally led to our table and given the drink menu. It was another 10 minutes before our server actually came. He seemed very knowledgeable about the menu and apologized for taking so long to get to the table. We ordered our food and dessert and devoured the piping hot bread as soon as it came out– it was so delicious. The oysters were nice and fresh, finished with lemon juice and bread crumbs, which didn’t overpower the flavor of the actual oyster– I enjoyed them. The gumbo was also good but explained by one of my friends as «gummy.» Not sure I would order it again. Then came the star of the show– the banana foster. The guy with the cart kept going past our table, not knowing it was us that had ordered it because our plates from the meal had never been cleared. He essentially had to clear our table and reset it with dessert dishes and silverware, since our server was MIA. The Banana Foster guy was great– he carried on conversation, as he created the dish right in front of us. The finished product was a thing of beauty, served on a large scoop of vanilla ice cream. I let my friend eat the ice cream and ate the bananas and sauce, which were very good but didn’t meet my expectations… I guess I really am a food snob:(One of my friends had the bread pudding, which I have to say was almost better. It was more of a «runny» bread pudding, covered in a rum sauce, and oh was it good! Overall, the food was maybe 3.5−4 stars, but the service was bad, which took away from the whole experience. The atmosphere was very nice, full of character, and the patio looked like a perfect place to dine if the sun was still out! Service needs some improvement for a restaurant like this, and it could be a 5 star!(P.S. if you do go for dinner, the steak made at the table looks amazing– wish I could have tried it)

Brennan’s was simply Spectacular! We got the only open reservations to Brennans on drive down yo the big east and on this rainy day we were very glad we did. We started with a martini and a hibiscus something. No complaints. We were at the bar for a short drink and then our number is called. The EGGYOLKCARPACCIO is over the top and absolutely delicious. The GUMBO was as good as I’ve ever eaten. All the Brennan’s restaurants normally has excellent gumbo and turtle soup. The GRAPEFRUITBRULE was very good and something different to try. The a CORNEDDUCKHASH was very tasty. The RABBITRUSHING was another great choice. I can’t wait to get back to Brennan’s That’s why you drive 5 hours to eat!

There are so many wonderful places to eat in New Orleans. Do not skip Brennan’s. We ate brunch here on the last day of our trip and it was so memorable. I’m glad I checked Unilocal before going so I knew to ask for the fried oysters on top of my Eggs Sardu(see pictures I uploaded). The presentation was spectacular. The meal was so beautiful I didn’t want to eat it! Spoiler alert: I did. It was just as yummy as pretty. Here are a few instructions to make your meal at Brennan’s spectacular. 1) Make a reservation 2) Order the sparkling pear cocktail or two. :) So refreshing and perfect for someone who is a little over mimosas. My brother had the Bloody Mary and that was fantastic. 3) Order a few appetizers to share: the roasted gulf oysters, grilled grapefruit and baked apple were excellent choices. I could have ordered another plate of the oysters as my meal. It seemed like they blow torch the exterior of half a grapefruit in a sugar sauce(much like the top of crème brule). You get an amazing sticky sweetness with the fresh tart juice of the grapefruit inside. I’ve never had anything like it! The Baked Apple is more like a dessert to me: tender, drenched in butter and brown sugar but OMG it was delicious. 4) Get the eggs sardu as your entre and add crab meat or fried oysters on top. 5) Don’t try to wear your skinny jeans on the plane home. I can’t wait to go back next time for dinner. The only complaint would have been with the service. Our waiter started our great but then as he became busier we lost him completely and one of his assistants had to step in. Glad he was there to wrap us up but it would have been nice to work with the same face start to finish and it took forever to get our bill. Other than that the service was great for ¾ of the meal!

I would of gave it a 5, but the greeters at the door when I told them I was here to try their Banana Foster looked at me like I had the plague & then discussed among each other where to seat me & they decided the bar over a table but the bar was crowded so she discussed with another person & placed me at the very end of the bar where one chair was left. Though that encounter left me with a bad taste everything after that was awesome. The bartender made everything great… ERIC the bartender is Amazeballs & I had the Banana Foster which is prepared in front of up and flamed; the presentation was excellent and the taste/flavor was right on spot. I’m not to into sweets but all the ingredients offset well & it was not to sweet & I paired it with the Temperance Tea cocktail… this was a match in heaven. I would return & recommend to others.

Order the Steak Diane, cooked tableside. Delish! Our server Sean was great! And lead server Etienne(captain) was attentive and gave great recommendations. He also showed us around the upstairs private dining rooms. Beautiful! We’ve been to a couple other Ralph Brennan restaurants and haven’t been disappointed.

I was SO excited to brunch at Brennan’s when I had a trip planned to NOLA and just before my getaway, Time Out published a list of best breakfasts in America and it was at the top of the list. Reservation made, excitement ensued. Here’s the thing, the food is nothing to write home about. Yes it’s tasty, yes it’s fresh and great quality, but is it mind-glowingly awesome? No. I had the benedict which was good, as was the crab and local mushroom omelet, but for almost $ 20 each and no sides included(WHEREARETHEPOTATOES?!), it isn’t worth the price tag. Now, don’t get me wrong… I totally understand Brennan’s! It’s beautiful, it’s historic, it’s elegant, the service is great, as are the drinks, so yes, I would recommend coming here, but be prepared for a more fancypants experience as opposed to a foodie one.

We went there for dessert after having Charbroiled oyster’s and gumbo at Drago’s. Brennan’s said that they could’t serve us until 9pm since we didn’t have a reservation. We asked about dessert only and they sat us in about 15 minutes. We ordered Banana Foster and coffee. The dining room Captain made our Bananas Foster at table side. He gave us the history of the dessert & had great showmanship. The Banana Foster was fantastic & just as we remembered. The coffee was great(better than Café Du Monde). It was really a great experience. They are closed on Mondays.

Long story short, you gotta hit up Brennan’s if you’re in the French Quarter. By far one of the best meals I’ve had in NOLA. We were surprised by the upscale factor(wasn’t expecting that) but were totally fine in business casual apparel(dresses + boots). There surprisingly wasn’t a wait on a Saturday night(score) but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t amazing food; au contraire. Just seems to attract a different crowd. The service is phenomenal. Great staff. Environment is cozy, romantic, and classic; even had a live piano player jamming for us. I loved the retro feel so I ordered a sazerac which our server helped me to order custom– yum. As for the food? Try the oysters for appetizer and creole-spiced lamb rack for your main course– to. die. for. And of course, seeing as how it originated here, you’d be a fool if you didn’t try the bananas foster. Mouth-watering and quite a show, too.
