No, this is not typical New York style pizza — but it is a good, quick healthy pizza place. As a non-pork eater, I’m very excited to see chicken sausage, without pork casing. I work in the area and will definetly come back for lunch!

Update: CLOSED. Moved to the East Village. A pleasant surprise indeed. Like many other procrastinators, I went on the last Groupon day, so the wait was significant and the two people working the store were totally swamped. Should the management have had the brains to bring more staff on the last Groupon day? Rhetoric question… Anyway, this is about the food. I got Thai chicken pizza and was very satisfied. The crust stayed crusty, the topping just spicy enough to live up to «Thai» at least somewhat, and overall it went down well and fast. Their 99c cheese slices taste like you’d expect from 99c slices, there’s no miracle there, so I won’t judge that too harshly.

I had the $ 10 for $ 20 worth living social voucher. My girlfriend and ordered 2 personal pan pizzas. They took about 25 mins to make them both and they were kinda greasy. My Napoli was really lame – cheese with a couple small tomato pieces and like 2 little leaves of basil. Her greek pizza was way too salty and just not very good. I would never pay full price and would not even pay ½ price again.

I was really excited to go to this place because I had a Groupon and they have vegan pizza on the menu. I went on a Sunday night, so I guess that they may not have had their A team working. It took over 40 minutes for us to get our pizzas at a crappy pizza place! 40 minutes at a fancy restaurant would be semi-acceptable. Not here. They had two or three people working and they weren’t very busy, so I don’t get what was going on. No apologies or anything for having us wait. They even got my order wrong after taking that long to make it. The pizza itself was okay, not great. I’ll stick with Viva Herbal Pizzeria for my vegan pizza needs.

Food is tasty but MAN what a mess this place is! I would not plan to eat in. The«out door garden» is so gross it looks like a back alley the Mob might take someone for their«final meal». Also, for all of their Green talk(on the cardboard box, «Recyclable: Please Recycle» etc) there are NORECYCLING receptacles at all in this eatery. Not for paper, not for plastic. Sounds like Green marketing, all talk and no walk. Added 3 hours later: Downgraded to 1 one star. We went because my boyfriend has gluten allergies and soy allergies. It was a bonus for him to have gluten-free pizza made to order, but after asking about ingredients and getting assurances from the staff that he was Soy safe, the BBQ was laden with soy and he had a reaction. Not the way to spend a date! They have a good concept here, but needs lots of work.

Go Z! I had a groupon which was expiring soon, so I made it downtown to Z pizza for dinner before a show at the Lucille Lortel. The pizza was delicious! We got the Moroccan and the Pear and Gorgonzola — both Rustica(free form) pizzas. We also got a slice of the cheese, just to try. Everything was delicious. My friends preferred the Pear and Gorgonzola and my fave was the Moroccan, but I’m glad we got to try the regular slice too because the tomato sauce was really yummy(neither of the rusticas we got had tomato sauce). The cashier was extremely friendly and very helpful. All around a delicious meal; I will definitely return for the 99 cent whole wheat slice. Wish they served beer, but guess you can’t have it all.

I saw the ad for 99¢ Organic Whole Wheat Pizza. I decided I will try it… The total with tax for a slice came out to $ 1 Not bad considering Whole Wheat and made with Organic ingredients. I am not sure if all of the pizza is organic or some of it… Anyways for the pizza being somewhat more healthy it is the best deal you will find in the West Village for a quick slice. However I was not impressed with the Pizza. But will return for the special promotion price when in the area.

Good effort. Gluten free, staff was friendly. Clean and reasonably priced. Unfortunately it does feel and taste like a chain. Would be ok if there were not real pizza places near by.

Hailing from LA where I had several Zpizza’s around, I’m a fan. I love the whole mantra of the company. I don’t think of it as NY style thin crust pizza. I put it in a category of it’s own as CA pizza. The rusticas are my favorite. The Chicken Sausage and Arugula, Moroccan, and the pear and gorgonzola. This location seems to be lacking in MOST areas. They don’t deliver past 10pm despite being open til midnight. And you can’t order online via like you can from most locations(though seamless has them). I work in the area and of the 5 or 6 times I’ve called to TRY and order I haven’t been able to get through. They don’t answer the phone, or they do and put you on hold for 5+ minutes(I don’t know how long I hung up after 5). Then I tried calling back and said no I can’t hold and was given a lot of attitude and was told then I ‘won’t be getting any pizza’ and was hung up on. HAH They only reason I tried to order via phone is because I have gift certificates. Then today I finally did get through and placed an order… the delivery person showed up and wouldn’t accept the gift certificate, and didn’t have change. He got a big tip. NEVERAGAIN will I order anything from this sh*it hole. And it’s only a crappy place because of the people… the service. The food quality is great… that’s all corporate. Corporate cares… the local owners of this one don’t.

Some of the reviews here are weird. I grew up in Laguna, so I knew what I was getting into and was psyched when this opened near where I live now. Anywho, the pizza is delicious and much better than any so-called Famous Somebody’s. John’s is still the king of Bleecker St but they don’t deliver. The service is definitely a mixed bag — from amazing(fast, friendly, hot) to seriously awful(the wrong order, put you on hold for 10 years.) It’s totally yummy but vegans should drop in for a slice before banking on a whole pie.

This was a VERY pleasant surprise! I got the Living Social voucher many moons ago and had never gotten around to checking it out. well, National Vegan Pizza Day(yes Virginia, there is such a thing) was finally upon us so why do make good with the pizza already? On this cold snow flurry night, I and two friends ambled over tot he West Village location that was happily pretty empty(yay bad weather!!). I ordered a small Berkley Vegan on wheat and they got a sausage and cheese pizza. After getting comfy and situated, the pizza came out and we all had the ‘wow that looks hella good’ face as the pies were presented to us. The Berkley Vegan: this is LIFE. The freshness of the ingredients can screaming through and the crust was done perfectly! The sausage/cheese pizza: per my carnivorous homies, the pizza was excellent and one declared it a new favorite location. I would highly recommend it and will definitely be back!

Great flavors combined with organic wheat crust and fresh tomato sauce equals excellent pizza! I was expecting yet another New York style pizza place when I bought the Groupon but was pleasantly surprised by this California pizza joint. I am not a fan of the typical New York thin crust greasy pizza and this place has just the opposite type of pizza. I had a cheese slice and the Moroccan Rustica. The Moroccan has an excellent pesto sauce and the cheese slice tasted fresh and flavorful with whole wheat crust. My husband and I dined-in and agreed that the place definitely needs to have a «warmer» feeling such as a flat-screens for watching sports or better seating. We will definitely be back :)

I’ve in the restaurant twice and have twice ordered pizza through Z Pizza via seamless web. They have managed to mess my order both times via seamless web. Their pizza, while good, isn’t the best in the village, and it’s important that they establish themselves as a reliable pizza joint. The two times I’ve ordered through seamless have been terrible and it’s taken them literally hours to rectify the error. Both times they lost the order(once never received, the second time they claimed they miss delivered it). I won’t be their customer anymore — too bad they can’t get it together to order via the web or seamless.

enjoyed their vegan pizza. really good. i found it SUPERWEIRD that they seemed to be all about organic and yet they offer fountain drinks(like coke) with the pizza. kinda seems like they’re missing the mark there. but the pizza was awesome.

The Bad — Berkeley Vegan(I had vegan pizza before and this pizza is just nasty… I think it’s mainly because of the cheese… its all goozy and not the good kind — has a really weird taste to it) The Good — The roustica pizza is awesome… they have a buy 1 get 1 free deal, which is totally worth it or you can sign up for their emails and get $ 5 off a purchase of $ 20 or more which they don’t really care if you spend $ 20…nice and crispy and thin… awesome stuff) The Bottomline– This place is decent. If you want really good vegan pizza, go to Viva de Herbal. That place has awesome pizza that is really fulfilling. This place is okay. Maybe it was just the Berkeley Vegan pizza that was bad…

I stand 100% behind my 5 star rating o this place. I admit I tend to be generous with my stars, but zPizza has earned them. Simply put, there’s nothing near this place where you can get such good, healthy artisan pizza for so little money. That’s it. I’m a huge fan.

Strictly from a non-vegetarian point of view, this pizza is weak. I was dragged here by a vegan friend of mine, she kept raving about this place so I reluctantly agreed to have lunch here. I could understand this place doing well if it were located in an area where the pizza is terrible, but it’s smack dab in the middle of NYC, home to some of the best pizza in the world. This place specializes in overpriced, mediocre pizza that’s unworthy of any New Yorker’s time. One positive note: they do have nice, friendly service, so I’ll give them a star for that. I suppose if you’re a vegan you might like this place, my friend still loves it. Otherwise, look elsewhere!

Organic. Lowfat Mozzarella. Whole Wheat AND Gluten-free crust. I was in heaven. The pizza, although with a «chain like» feel(which I never mind) was delicious. The crust was crispy yet fluffy upon first bite. The organic tomato sauce was tangy and rich. The entire slice drenched in delicious lowfat mozz cheese. My Napoli slice included thinly sliced, sweet tomato circles– and fresh basil and garlic as garnish. A few days after trying the Napoli slice I had to return– and had the Tuscan Mushroom slice. Perfectly crisp whole wheat dough(with doughy, soft rim of crust) with amazing sweet onions to compliment the sharp flavored mushrooms. YUM. Is it THEBEST pizza in NYC? No. But it is by far the healthiest I’ve come across! Killer healthy pie. nice, smiley staff… I’m going back for lunch today!

zpizza is not New York style pizza, so if you have that in your head before you go in, promptly«fuggedaboutit.» They are from Laguna Beach, CA — which is just crazy because Cali and pizza??? yeah. What zpizza is most like to me, is Pizza Fusion, which also offers a variety of crusts, toppings, etc and is also organic. I tried the gluten free pizza here with the Daiya Vegan cheese. I have to say, the pizza was pretty solid(good). The crust was thin, and didn’t have much flavor, but was still slightly chewy, which I like. The cheese, wow, I’ve never had vegan cheese that was soy/casein free before. It didn’t taste like cheese, but it wasn’t bad. It was like a creamy, gooey, white substance on top of the pizza that you may think you might not like, but you really do. I’m lactose free, so the vegan cheese is awesome in my book. Overall I really liked the pizza, and I really liked the price point. A small gf pizza runs about $ 10 and has 6 slices. The same pizza at Risotteria, while very very good, will run about $ 7 more. Zpizza is the lunch spot that you can go to and get organic/gluten free pizza without feeling guilty.

I gotta say that this is some of the best pizza I’ve ever had. Wow!!! I love how they have different crusts and sauces to chose from, in addition to their full selection of vegan toppings. I got the whole-wheat crust with the garlic sauce(which is like a garlicky oil, not a tomato-based sauce) veggie burger crumbles, caramelized onions, olives, and Daiya vegan cheese. Superb. The only thing that would have improved the pizza would have been to substitute the regular black olives with kalamata olives. I don’t remember seeing them on the menu but perhaps I overlooked it. I tried my friend’s pizza and she got arugula, basil, and Daiya cheese, and it was very good, but I preferred mine. The service was very friendly. The staff was knowledgeable, attentive, and very playful and friendly. The only bad thing was that there was a tiny hair in the crust of my pizza, but I can’t say that I haven’t seen that at other places. I let the staff know and they were apologetic and seemed genuinely surprised(apparently nobody working had that color hair). I would definitely go here again, and assuming there’s no hair in that pizza, would come back weekly for the rest of my life. :)
