Excelente pizza.

Keste is really not what I imagined. It’s very sterile looking and feeling on the inside, and without the charm of most NY pizza joints. But it’s also not fancy enough to be on par with some of the well known second-wave Brooklyn pizza restaurants. I guess the fact that the restaurant is long and almost entirely windowless might have something to do with that. That said, come here for the pizzas because they’re solid. And also the wines. The four of us had one pizza each, and they were all pretty good. I had the Vesuvio, which was a stuffed pizza. I had no idea what that meant, but apparently it’s a pizza inside of another pizza(duh). SOMANYTOPPINGS. And I guess fillings. Ricotta, mozz, salami inside, and tomato sauce, ham, mozz, mushrooms and artichoke on top. I liked it, but it could probably feed a family of 6. The Pizza del Re with truffle cream, prosciutto and mushroom was pretty good, but nothing to write home about. The Tirolese was similar to the del Re, except with speck instead of prosciutto, and with zucchini slices, which was an interesting texture addition. The last pie we had was the Diavola, but our friend who ordered that was being a big meanie and wouldn’t share with us. I suppose that means it was good, right? They also have delicious burrata. Super fresh, and with some thinly sliced cured ham on the side. Yummy. I don’t think I would recommend someone go out of their way to try Keste, but if you’re around and the wait’s not too bad, then stop on in.

First things first, if you’re looking for NY pizza this is not the place. Kesté serves Neapolitan pizza and it is delicious. I’ve been to Nick’s Pizza in Forest Hills, which I found to be mediocre. I’ve been to Barboncino in Crown Heights, which is pretty darn good in their own right, but Kesté has the upper hand on this one. Where do I begin? The dough is just right, the crust has a perfect char with a balance of dough and crunch. I can’t ask for much more out of the crust. Dip it in olive oil and it is heaven. Kesté offers an interesting selection of pizzas to choose from. With so many delicious options to choose from, it was hard to decide. However, the pizzas that were ordered were delightfully devoured. The establishment itself is small and narrow. There’s also a bit of a wait. Took maybe 30 minutes to get a table, but this is also on a Saturday night. No regrets regarding the wait, the pizza made up for it.

I had the best gluten free pizza! I ordered the Regina Margherita: tomato sauce, grape tomatoes, imported buffalo mozzarella, basil, extra virgin olive oil. Unlike most of the places where I ate pizza before, this crust is doughy, pillowy soft and moist just the way I wanted it to be. Usually, the roof of my mouth would hurt after eating dry hard(i.e. Die Hard) bread or pizza. I finally found the ideal pizza crust for my tastbuds! :D This is a revelation, as I always thought that I had a preference for crispy crust. Had a life changing experience from eating here. Pizza crust Crust: soy flour, potato flour, rice flour. Texture: soft dough Thickness: thin

The place is small and the tables are tiny. But that is ok. I ordered a onion mushrooms and basil pizza. I also ordered half a liter of the home wine. The wine was warm instead of being a little fresh and the pizza was tasteless. It took about seven or eight bites to finally taste a bit of basil. That was it, no more basil on the pizza. The tomato sauce was very neutral. No taste at all. Disappointing

My review is based off of my seamless order of the margarita pizza. When the pizza arrived, it was thankfully intact but the crust was so soggy that it drooped… There was also only 2 pieces of basil on my entire pie. What a sad pizza slice to eat!

Pizza wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t fantastic either. Maybe they were just having an off night, but nothing about it seemed exceptional to me. Service was quick & friendly, although the dining area is SUPER small and cramped, so the waitstaff will pull out all the stops to get you to leave faster. Prices were about what you’d expect for the neighborhood, but you can definitely get better value for your money elsewhere. Not a bad spot at all, but no real reason to go back.

amazing gluten free pizza. I ordered the margherita senza glutine and it was so good that I actually thought they might have given me the regular crust, but our waiter assured me it was gluten free. the sauce was delicious as was the mozzarella. my mother ordered the vegana senza glutine and she loved it. they also gave us a hot pepper oil that was really delicious drizzled on the pizza. great service too, very friendly and we didn’t feel rushed at all. also I really enjoyed the restaurant space itself, very cozy. can’t wait to come back!

I typically love love love going to Keste and I always list it as one of my favorite restaurants but after my experience there last week I think I need to retract some of my heartfelt statements on this Italian pizzeria. First of all — you are always so rushed the second you sit down. They want you in and out — which I don’t really understand because it’s NEVER as crowded as it used it to be. I can always get in right away — no matter if it’s a weekend or weekday night. So we are seated and of course asked what we’d like to order the second we sit. We’ve hardly opened our menus at this time. To hold them off a bit we order half a liter of wine. Sipping our wine & meandering the menu doesn’t really seem allowed and our waiter is hounding us for what our next order will be. We give in and place an order for the burrata. He asks us «gluten free?» and we loudly say«no! DEF not.» Pretty clear right? So the burrata comes it’s delicous, no complaints there. Next it’s time to order pizza and we decide to split the margarita(my favorite). We put the order in and go back to our burrata and wine. The pizza comes out 10 minutes later and we notice it looks quite different than normal. And then we try it – uhh this is not what we ordered. We’re looking at it and call the waiter over and politely say that we think it’s gluten-free. The waiter rolls his eyes and makes a stink about how yes, we ordered the gluten-free pizza and so yes, it is the gluten-free marg. He even grabs a menu and opens it to show that we ordered gluten-free. Okay sir… I mean we said no to GF burrata very adamantly, so I don’t know why you thought we’d want GF pizza. It’s pretty much us vs. the waiter waiting to see whose going to give in(the waiter with a new pizza, or us by saying it’s fine it’s fine). Finally the owner comes over and says its okay he will make sure a true margarita that isn’t GF comes out for us. The waiter is still huffing and puffing… like come on we aren’t even making a big stink about it. It was very rude. They bring out the new pizza and our waiter is OVERUS. We eat it up and just get outta there. I know Keste has changed owners and in the past I used to feel like this restaurant would cater to you. The staff was beyond friendly and warm and I can’t even tell you how many complimentary glasses of champagne and dessert we’d be given. Not the same service anymore. Such a bummer because Keste was such a favorite place of mine to eat :(

I stopped by for the lunch special vegetariana and ate it to go on my way to get a grilled cheese sandwich. The plan was to only eat one slice but these suckers are addicting. Their dough is so chewy and I couldn’t stop! The service was extremely fast too!

Excellent pizza and amazing burrata. Super fresh ingredients on top and the crust could be sold as its own product. Prices are a little high but standard for the W4th area. The wait is worth avoiding — I would just play opportunist and come here at unusual times. It’s not worth it. You could also try Don Antonio in midtown as they are co-owned, but they both get equally crammed.

On our first night in NYC for a 5 day visit we stopped here on our way to the Village Vanguard. Keste was highly recommended in the Frommer’s guide and we decided to give it a try. It was a Monday night about 7:30, walked in and though the place was very busy they found us a seat right away. Keste is a small space — probably room for about 30 – 40 diners and quite loud — don’t expect a quiet romantic booth. However, it was a jovial energetic and we fed off that energy. We stared with a glass of wine and a beer and ordered salads for starters. I had the Rustica which was a spring mix with proscuitto, artichokes, olives and a dressing of lemon and EVOO. My wife had the Toscana, spring mix, fresh pear, walnuts, lemon and EVOO. The salads were tasty, although both of us would have preferred a little more lemon or other acid in the dressing — the olive oil dominated, but maybe that is the Neapolitan way(the owners are from Naples). We shared the Capricciosa pizza which featured a tomato sauce, artichokes, mushrooms, Italian cooked ham, homemade mozzarella, and olive oil. It was delicious. The wood fired crust was nice and smoky and the ingredients very fresh. The couple sitting next to us had a really interesting looking pizza with squash and other vegies that may have been a limited time special item. It was a pleasant and satisfying experience with pizza that rivals what you can find in Italy.

One of my favorite pizza places probably because their Pizza Del Re is the most beautiful marriage of truffle, prosciutto, and mushrooms. I’ve gotten it every time I come to Keste and it never disappoints! The restaurant is in the heart of West Village and it’s small, so not good for big groups but perfect for a yummy dinner date.

1st night in town, long flight, hungry= let’s get some pizza!!! Small restaurant, expect to sit closely to strangers and expect them to overhear your convo. So good luck with your issues. Got seated quickly as we were able to squeeze into a spot. Staff was friendly and quick to set us up, get us some drinks and help us with the menu. We decided to start off with a Caprese as an appetizer, simple & delicious! Tasty mozz, nice fresh tomatoes… add some olive oil & balsamic and you are good to go! As for our pizza, we decided to try one of their specialty pizzas and got the Noci e Porcini. That tasty mozz, some bits of sausage and good amount of mushrooms. Overall pretty good but I prefer my crust a bit crispier. Staff was super quick, responsive and very nice. Pricing is about what I expected but whatever. A good spot to check out if in area.

We came here for a late lunch or an early dinner. I lived one block from here and really wished this pizza shop was here back in the day. The crust and flavor are perfect for my palette. We shared a marinara pizza that has become our standard for all pizzas now. This is by far the best marinara pizza I’ve ever had. We shared a fresca salad that was also amazing and delicious. We also shared a margherita pizza that was great but not as good as the marinara pizza. The staff is professional and attentive, providing the perfect balance of great and relaxed service.

3 Star rating because the pizza was somewhat chewy and taste was just average for a pizza shop that is supposed to be top 10 in the entire country according to Fox News. Maybe the pizza came out too quickly(less than 8 minutes) or they were just having an off day. Either way, I’ll spend my money elsewhere on better tasting pies and on checks without the gratuity suggestions that starts at 18% . 50 dollars for 2 pies, Margherita and some other pie I forgot but it came with some weird peninsula looking part(see pic).

Actually 3−½ stars. It would have been better had the bottom of my crust were crispy. I ate it there fresh from the oven — and yet it was like bread. The edge us crisp. The filling was generous. I ordered the Keste pizza. It’s good and a complete meal in itself. I also wish they had club soda or Perrier with a twist of lemon. I am watching my sugar intake. ‘Tempted to give a 4-star but the bottom is not crisp —

We came here for one of my birthday dinner’s this year, really enjoyed this place except I wish they had more vegan and gluten free pizza options. I got the gluten free vegano pizza — while the pizza was A-OK the crust was one of the better gluten free crusts I have ever had. A little daiyya and some seasoning would have gone a long way on the pizza. My friends had the truffle burrata which is a must try for appetizers and the white pie with walnut cream and porcini and the margarita pizza for entrée — all of which they loved. In addition, for dessert we got the gluten free Nutella pie which was quite delicious! Oh and we got couple of bottles of Amarone della Valpolicella — full bodied and not terribly dry. All in all made for quite a good b’day dinner!

Regina Margherita: tomato sauce, grape tomatoes, imported buffalo mozzarella, basil, evoo, $ 15. The dough is on point! The gluten is developed properly resulting in soft chewiness. Made at just the right thickness, not overdone or undercooked, and as flavorful as solid, plain dough gets. This is a pie where the crust really shines. It took about 8 – 10 minutes(if even that long) for the pizza to arrive to our table. Pino Grigio to pair and you’ve got a simple, fast, light and delicious meal. Pies measure 11″ in diameter, cut into 4 slices. One order turned out sufficient for 2 slightly-moderately hungry stomachs. At 5:30pm on a Monday evening, the place was relaxed and just starting on getting deliveries out. Service is good!

Arrived around 6:30 on a Monday night with a party of three and was seated immediately by a cramped table by the door. I did notice this place does get very busy but during my time here I did not see a line accumulate. This would be the opposite of your St. Marks dollar pizza. Everything averages to close to $ 20 for a personal pie that is unique, delicious, but honestly nothing I would wait in line for. The food took about five to ten minutes to arrive, which was much faster than I had anticipated. While enjoying my meal I did notice the table next to mine was rushed with frequent check-ups by the waiter who clearly wanted to hand them the check to vacate the table which is understandable but quite the turnoff. All in all, I’d say this place is worth a try, but nothing amazing.

My husband’s cousin has been living in Brooklyn for three years, and I knew he wouldn’t steer us wrong on our first meal in NYC. We got into Manhattan after 8. From our Times Square Hotel the three of us took the subway to Keste in Greenwich. Of course it was busy late on a Saturday night but we managed to get a table for the three of us in about 10 minutes or so. Keste serves only(but an extensive menu) of Neapolitan pizza and has a few salads. It was a tough choice as there were so many appealing options, but we shared: the pistachio and sausage and a special pizza of white truffle oil, proscuitto, basil, tomatoes, and burrata cheese. To start off we also shared a light spring max salad with walnuts, pears, lemon and EVOO; the guys had beers too. The salad was a nice light refreshing starter. I loved the sweet pears cutting with the citrus of the lemon and the crunch of the walnuts. A random slice of bread was thrown in there, which was odd, but hey, I was starving so I took it! A little bit of spice may have been a nice addition for the salad. The pistachio and sausage had mozzarella, a pistachio pesto, peccorino, mozzarella and EVOO. My husband and I are total truffle lovers, and of course we love proscuitto too. I was bummed though that the taste of truffle was very faint, would have loved a little more proscuitto too, or more evenly distributed. So we were excited by this pie, however, our favorite was the sausage. Perhaps it was due to the pesto sauce made of the pistachios which was quite unique, but very flavorful. Both pizzas were delightfully cheesy and cooked well. Crust was slightly burned but still had a bit of chewiness. Pizza thinned out a lot towards the tip so some of the toppings were sliding off during consumption. We typically aren’t too big on Neapolitan style pizzas, but Keste was a great spot for a first meal in NYC. Each pizza yielded about 6 slices, so starting at low $ 20’s the pizzas are a little on the pricey side. The restaurant is on the smaller side with a very narrow walkway, so expect a weight and some stuffiness/heat. I have to admit though, I did enjoy the pizzas here more than Zero Zero in SF that I went to years ago, and more than one place that we dined in Rome(after we stopped in NYC). Worth a visit if you are craving some Neapolitan style pizza while near Greenwich. 3.75ish rounded up.

I came here on a Thursday night and we lucked out because they don’t take reservations and there was no wait! WOOHOOS. Thumbs up already. This place was recommended to me by someone who worked at the Italian embassy so hopefully there’s some credibility behind that. Our party of 4 started with a plate of burrata to share. Odd because it was a lot of burrata but only 4 pieces of bread. The waiter quickly brought us over some more after we asked. We didn’t realize how large each pizza was because we each ordered individual ones! I love pizza and I have a huge appetite but boy it was tough to finish my entire pie. I ordered the Keste pizza b/c I love prosciutto. It was super delicious and this may not be the pizza choice for the ppl who love a crunchy crust. It was very soft and foldable, just to my liking. I can’t wait to compare Keste to the pizza in Italy when I go in a few months. They’ll have a fan forever if it comes that close.

This is the best pizza I’ve had in Manhattan. The tables are too close together, and I’d rather be in Houdini or barboncino, but it’s still fabulous. The new one with porcini and ricotta is delicious but incredibly rich, so good to split-n-share with someone having a tomato based one or a salad.

The Quick: Really fantastic pizza pies, with the best dough/crust in the neighborhood. Large variety of toppings and gluten free options. Great location. The Details: Keste is definitely a treat of a pizzeria. Small, Italian, and authentic; really all you can ask for. What makes this spot stand out for me is the bread/crust. I don’t know what they put in the dough, but it is absolutely delicious. At other pizza joints, I always leave the crust as I find it is a waste of calories(and I’m always trying to lose 5 lbs). At Keste, I found myself dipping the crust in the delicious olive oil and savoring every last bite. I recommend the Keste(pictured) with fresh mozzarella, home made sauce, and prosciutto. The Damage: Lunch special is $ 10 for a personal pie which I easily ate; perfect portion.
