Popped in for breakfast and catch up time with a friend. Monday morning buzz, filled with locals. Friendly staff, fast and attentive. Basic diner style menu. Had a lumberjack — eggs bacon and French toast instead of pancakes. So busy talking and eating, forgot to take pics. Nice diner with great views of the city!

Words cannot begin to describe the atrocious experience that this diner provided me and my friends for dinner. While it was close to my boyfriends job, we figured we would stop in on Friday night for a quite bite to eat before we headed home, and what a bad decision that was. We were rudely greeted at the door and were told to sit anywhere we wanted. We sat down, and we were approached by a waiter whom doesn’t know how to check his attitude at the door of his work place, serious problems with that man. We ordered, and the food was not more than Mediocre at best. Our friends food even had a full length hair under his burger. They took the burger back with nothing but attitude, and did bring him another one, and claimed the item wouldn’t get charged. But this wasn’t even the worst of it. Half way through our meal, an older gentleman came in and he was rudely greeted and just as we were, suggested he sit wherever he pleased. He proceeded to head toward a booth for 4, and a waiter got in his way and yelled that he couldn’t sit there, he would have to sit at a single table or at the counter top. No problem with the request of the diner, especially if their expecting a busy night, but the way they went about it was completely ridiculous. He proceeded to sit at a single booth adjacent to ours and he was treated with nothing but straight disrespect and disgusting service from the staff. They threw his items on the table, and would shush him every time he spoke up(I’m assuming he had a hearing problem, and that explained his raise in volume the certain times he spoke). He was looked at with snickers and menacing grins, definitely not the vibe I want to experience when I’m eating dinner. We left, wrote a note on the back of the check about how people should treat others no matter their circumstance. We paid the bill and left no tip, their service was unneeded of any tip. After all of this, you think not much can get worse, but it does. My boyfriend who paid for the meal got a notification from his credit card company that they noticed a «generous tip» applied to the purchase. He called the credit card company to find out that they manually entered a $ 10.00 tip on the check! WHODOESTHAT? This place needs a swift check in customer service and morals when it comes to this business. Definitely, never going back. If I could rate 0 stars I would.

Great food, great price. Only issue is the table space and booths are little tight. Prob 3 people max, otherwise you’re bumping elbows. Service was solid also. Def a good spot to start the date.

So we’re here for a quick bite husband is always hungry. Looked inviting packed even. His burger was great as were his fries. Avoid any falafel sandwich or wrap. Don’t care how much sauce I put on it it was dreadful. The falafel wasn’t fresh just reheated. Sucks when a chef can’t go to any diner and expect a decent meal. Might go again if ever in that area for the burger lol I’m giving them 3 stars for effort.

Average food, not bad but not great. Service was very fast, but was also rushed. Only two servers were on a decently busy floor. My server was a friendly guy, though, so that’s good. I got a south of the border grilled chicken sandwich deluxe. Comes with fries and onion rings, pretty standard stuff going on here. A decent place to stop if you need what a Manhattan diner provides. Prices are standard for the neighborhood but high compared to normal restaurants anywhere but NYC.

This place has gone so far down hill. Ordered a patty melt w cheddar & it came cold, open faced w a slice of America cheese. Coke slaw was bad & fries cold. How can a diner screw up a burger?

First place we stopped at. We were visiting from Kansas City and this was a spur of the moment stop for food. Aside from the looks of the place the food was excellent and the service was quick and attentive. Great establishment.

I ate hear on a Sunday afternoon. The service was prompt and the place was busy but not too noisy. The people watching is great if you’re next to the window with a lot of foot traffic right outside the 72nd and Amsterdamn subway stop. I had pancakes with bacon and it was perfect. I definitely recommend for some cheap eats.

UGH… when will I learn to check Unilocal before going into a place?!? Went into this diner thinking it would be a good place to grab a quick bite after a fall foliage walk in Central Park. I ordered what was supposed to be a patty melt cooked medium. My husband ordered the tuna salad plate. My patty melt arrived, open face(???) and my medium burger was a burned hockey puck with a mushy, slimy grilled onion mess on top and a slice of melted american cheese on the slice of rye bread. The cole slaw and pickles on the side were good as well as the fries, but the two onions rings, which were part of the order, were soggy. I could NOT eat the burger. I tried but it was just too hard and dry. One star for good coleslaw, pickles. That’s it. They charged me for my meal that I did NOT eat! Really!!! This is not Utopia by any means.

Food was so-so, and service was terrible. Forgot my boyfriend’s milkshake when we ordered– had to ask for it again. The milkshake was good though. Everything else we ordered was just eh. Definitely will pass on going to Utopia again. The only time the service was attentive was when we were paying– the waiter hovered as we signed the bill.

Unfortunately this was just bad. Terrible food, overpriced for a diner, unfriendly service. Literally nothing redeeming… Go to Granddaisy, Yasaka, Gari, Shake Shack, Papaya’s, Hummus Place… Literally anything but here…

A-Ok place… we were starving after an early a.m. run so we stopped there for breakfast. My friend had breakfast/brunch special eggs with coffee & small cup of OJ. I had buttermilk pancakes that I almost didn’t touch. It was just dinner food but kind of not welcoming with slow service. This is going to be just one time experience. I wouldn’t recommend it for brunch!

Service people have had bad attitudes and rolled their eyes every time my husband asked for something. Tiny glass of orange juice is 6 bucks. Food is mediocre and occasionally somewhat burned. I feel like two stars is generous.

Good neighborhood spot for breakfast and lunch. They try to keep the people moving so the wait is never too long. Their onion rings are delicious. I also really enjoy their chicken quesadillas. The jalapeños give them a bit of a kick and the guacamole tastes fresh. The tuna fish was good too although a bit too much cheese on the melt. The fajita in the pita was just okay. It was a bit too plain for our tastes. The salads are big. They are not shy with portions and have a lot of employees working hard.

Decided to stop at Utopia after getting to the city super early and nothing else was open. This was the perfect place to sit, have a couple cups of coffee, and get some good breakfast at a decent price. Pancakes and sausage was less than $ 10 and a huge portion. Sausages were some of the best I’ve had anywhere. And the service was extremely friendly, and they were totally cool with us sitting and hanging out for a bit.

Went to this diner on a chance because it was near the 72nd subway stop. Majority of the time when you go to diner you are not going to expect the same service and food as a fine dining establishment. My husband and I walked in and was seated. NOTE: If you are tall do not sit in the 2 seater booth because your knees will hit each other. This diner reminded me something out of Seinfeld. The employees were kind and the menu is huge. You can get breakfast all the time. I ordered the breakfast Mexican wrap and it was huge and It taste pretty good. My husband ordered a burger that he said tasted mediocre but nothing to brag about. This will probably visit this place again for quick food.

Subpar place, regardless of its UWS location. Whether it’s the lack of service, food(quality, presentation, taste), or the run-down venue. Do yourself a favor and eat at Chipotle. Or come with great company.

This place is conveniently located across the street from the 72nd street ½/3 subway stop. My friend and I came here just after noon on a Sunday. The place was crowded, and there were a few groups waiting for tables. However, within five minutes, the host whisked us away to our table. As for the food, it was general diner fare. I got a Western omelette, to which I added swiss cheese. It came with potatoes, and toast. The portion was huge, and I was pretty full by the end. When I go to a diner, I’m looking for solid food. Utopia did the job for me.

3 stars, because honestly it was ok… My 2 friends and I went there Sunday, and were squeezed into a booth by the door, that I could barely fit in. The food was fine, I mean it is breakfast food, so it’s hard to mess up. But the place was packed, it was cold, super noisy and uncomfortable. I get it, it’s a place to eat and go, but a little organization would make the experience better. Like for example, guiding the waiting people to wait outside, and not with their butts on the table where I’m eating.
