The incompetence and apathy in the service only made their cold bagels more insufferable. Stick to your neighborhood gas station for their coffee and bread is spades fresher.

Used to be my go to place for breakfast(at least 2 – 3 times a week) but it went down hill recently. Only 1 thin slice of salmon for $ 10 sandwich??? It doesn’t even taste fresh. Cost cutting? They used to have a decent coffee but coffee I got this morning was horrible. I don’t know what happened to this place but it was just awful. Sad… but not going back again.

Really good, high quality bread and pastry. One of the best chocolate croissants I’ve ever had. First espresso they gave me was just strong coffee. Asked for another and got a good one. Overall, excellent.

— Bagels are old. — Bagels not toasted as requested. — Guy at the counter with an attitude. — Slow service. — Gave me hazelnut coffee when I asked for a cappuccino. I have allergies to hazelnut… Don’t bother.

Guy with an attitude gave me the wrong order, took forever to heat old bagels, bad coffee. Luckily we have other Turkish places in NYC that bring this shop to shame. Come here if you want to have a bad time.

Walked by and saw that it had decent reviews. I didn’t have the chance to try any pastries as I just wanted a cappuccino. They don’t have a coffee menu, but I saw that they had an espresso machine, so I ask if they served coffees. The lady was somewhat rude about it and said she could make anything from lattes to cappuccinos and such. I ordered a cappuccino with half and half cream. When I took a sip, the whole drink tasted like milk, no espresso whatsoever, when I got down to the bottom of the drink, I gave it another chance and expected all the espresso to be on the bottom, but I tasted of straight milk. Won’t be come again, although I’m sure their pastries are fine like the other reviews say.

Bagels were hard and fell apart, also ordered a chocolate croissant that was heated up but still ice cold in the center. Took approximately 15 – 20 minutes for the above order with no one in line ahead of me. Would never go back.

I feel sad about this review because of the people working here. They were really nice and hardworking. Unfortunately the bread is precooked, the egg is precooked and the Turkish coffee was not good. It is the enters fault for trying to cut corners and making things the fasted way. But come on, how long would it take you to crack an egg? It would make a world of a difference! The whole point of a place such as this is the BREAD! Why have it precooked? Well all I know is I’m not coming back.

The bread for my sandwich was amazing; amazing flavor, texture, health-value. Service was friendly and helpful. I needed a power outlet, and there was one near the front window. I checked-in on Unilocal and received a free cup of coffee(no decaf available).

Decent coffee and baked goods for decent $$. Employees are super sweet. The egg sandwich is nothing to rave about but the round donuts are delicious.

One day I was walking through the UWS and I found myself famished. I popped in here and looked at the menu. Ordered the equivalent of a bagel with cream cheese. The bagel is a different variety than your typical(Turkish) and so it is bigger but also with a bigger hole. For about $ 3, this was perfect. If you’re in the neighborhood and looking for a quick snack, this place is perfect.

Stopped in for a quick drink following a bike ride. I didn’t have particularly high expectations, I purchased a drink and an egg sandwich.(Also collected the free coffee from checking in). The egg sandwich was delicious! The bread they used tasted so good! I went away a happy lady. The décor of the place is also really nice. All round, a pleasant experience.

Came to pick up a sandwich to take with me to Central Park. This is the perfect place to go if you want to do just that. 5 min walk to the park. When you check in Unilocal you get coffee for free but it’s not the Turkish coffee which I didn’t mind, they still brew a good cup of coffee. I got the salmon sandwich on a whole grain bread. Sadly they don’t do the salmon on the smit bread anymore. I was fine with it though because this bread was perfect. It had that crisp outer part and soft and chewy on the inside. It was perfect with the layers of cream cheese, salmon, and red onions. You get that crunch from the sesame seeds on the bread and then again from the onions. This is a spot I would definitely come back to. It’s not alternative to a lox bagel! Come try it out!

Stopped by for a quick lunch with a friend. I got the Margarita breakfast sandwich(mozzarella, tomato, and pesto) and a free coffee because I checked in with Unilocal. The bread was nice and chewy, and the balance of tomato to mozzarella to pesto was nice. The wait was kind of long for a sandwich, and the person behind us in line just left, but she missed out. I’d definitely go back next time.

Ok, I’m a coffee drinker, but I needed free wifi and they had it in spades. I then tried the strong Turkish tea and now I’m hooked! A couple of pistachio baklava on the side with a seltzer and I’m in heaven. And the charming, helpful and friendly young señorita behind the counter is such an important asset to this business. I tipped her generously but I hope her boss sees her true worth as a great ambassador for this awesomely friendly and tasty little turkish café.

Nice variation of the usual bagel-ria. More to the Turkish roots, heartier grains, and funkier larger rings but skinnier. My +1 and I got the salmon cream cheese and tomato on the«loaf» bread. It would have been hard to put anything on the other skinny bagel style because frankly it looked like a hula hoop. The size was massive and could have been split between us for breakfast. Unless you’re very hungry, save some cash and split it. Otherwise: good service, decent prices. However the place was roaring hot inside. I had to step out once or twice and the AC unit was dripping water right over the coffee sugar/additive area – not an ideal placement.

It’s been a few days since I was last here and I’m still trying to figure out how I feel about this place. Let me start with the good. I really liked the person who was working here last Sunday. She was helpful, attentive, professional and most importantly, very nice so my hesitation isn’t based on their customer service, she knocked it out of the park. The part that’s got me unsure is the fact that out of their entire menu, they only had chicken and vegetables. They ran out of roast beef, turkey, salmon and tuna, pretty much knocking out a majority of their menu. This wasn’t a problem for me, as I don’t eat meat anyway but makes you think about their ordering plan, or lack-thereof. My companions were pretty much limited to very few options, so the experience could have been better. I had the the Ricotta, Dried Fig, Walnut + Honey as well as the Black Olive Spread + Aged Kasseri, both of which were good. I preferred the latter, because I thought it had a deeper flavor profile whereas the former seemed a little bland with too much ricotta and not enough honey/fig.

Today I added simit to my vocabulary. I think of it as a giant, skinny bagel. My boyfriend and I were still hungry after having crepes next door so we split the feta/tomato/pepper simit. The staff recommended this as one of their most popular ones… but to me it was just a bagel with cream cheese, with feta cheese replacing the cream cheese. The simit itself was the right balance of crunchy and chewy. The sesame seeds sprinkled on top were excellent too. It was good, but not so amazing as everyone seems to say.
