Worst steak house ever. If you want rotten meat and bugs crawling up the wall PLEASE come hear. Your better off eating off the subway station walls… either way you’ll be eating with the RATS.

Horrible atmosphere, watched a water bug crawl across the wall and the chef got mad that we were leaving because the steaks were already on the grill.

Wish I could leave zero stars. If you are searching for a place to get food poisoning, this is it. Walked in and placed my order, literally watched a bug crawl across the serving area. The staff had no reaction, which leads me to believe this was a common occurrence. They were surprised when we were disgusted and walked out. The situation was unreal, I will remember it for the rest of my life.

We are here visiting from Chicago. We are use to eating good food. The food looks nothing like the pictures they advertise. Everything is ala carte the butter and sour cream for the bake potatoe. The tomatoes for the salad. Etc. My husband’s fish and chips were hard, dried out and burnt. My steak was like rubber. However, their customer service was ok that’s why I gave them a 2. I would not refer them to anyone!

This is the worst Tads of all the other franchises that have since closed. The steak sauce is too watery and the steak has no color. It looks like a thin cut pork chop. Once upon a time, I truly enjoyed going there often. I wish they would rethink the carelessness and go back to how it used to be.

Food looks good but steak is fatty and chewy. Ribs and chicken were the best at this steakhouse. I like that they give you pile of mushrooms and onions. Just was disappointed by my steak that I asked for well done and came to me with all this pink all over. Not just the middle. I wouldn’t recommend this steakhouse for steak. Not to mention that they over price the hell out of u. $ 15 plus tax for a burger and fries. What!!! No.

This place is digusting food and establisment. If i threw the steak i had at someone it probably wouldve bounced back and hit me in the head. I wish i didnt even have to give stars. Not one person i was with had anything good to say about this place. Idk how this place is even open. The only good thing that came out of this was my brother in law giving a homeless man his left overs !

Had the #11 steak burger. It was decent. Not good not bad. Paid 20 bucks for a soda about 10 fries and a so-so burger. I won’t be back unless there giving me food.

«plastic steaks» Tads is an urban myth of being the worst steakhouse known to man! based on all the negative reviews and the numerous amount of jokes received, i thought i try this place out and good thing i did while i was with a good numbers of Unilocalers!!! literally i didnt know what to expect walking in. from the the first few seconds i notice a cheerful staff that greeted and welcomed me in and even later joked with me while being on the line(which i thought was cool). i ordered one of the steaks and it was really terrible, literally this steak tasted like someone burn rubber one hundred times over!!! but yet i wanted to tough it out and continue what was on my plate. along with my wonderful plate i had mash potatoes, along with veggies that was clearly heated up in the microwave. it was similar to eating a tv dinner frozen. «weird people» a few Unilocalers and i were trying to process what were eating but while we were doing that we had other people literally starring us down as we ate, maybe they liked what we ordered or liked what we had one but one thing is for sure, we were being stared at every five seconds! «overall» try this place one time and never come back again, it isnt worth the money, time, and convenience! your are better of venturing to the next steakhouse in the area for a high quality steak.

Despite all the bad hype I have to say, I haven’t yoked yet. My baked potato was fine as was the garlic bread and salad with oil and vinegar. I ordered the number 3. I asked for a medium well cooked steak and got a medium rare instead. The steak was a bit grizzly, I didn’t finish it. I opted not to get onions or the gravy they automatically smother everything in. So far, no indigestion, I’m fine. for the price it’s not a bad deal. I suppose if you are really hungry and in the neighborhood you would be no worse off than eating off a vending truck.
So the interior lacks luster and the red plastic trays remind me of the school lunch line, but if they upgraded the interior and served up top cuts of meat… it wouldn’t be Tad’s

Imagine if you will, being in hell and having the devil him/her self grilling steaks for you on a loop for all eternity. That filthy red plastic tray awaiting that steak, baked potato, garlic bread and salad. I am willing to bet that it would be way better than the mess I had at Tad’s. Now it had been 27 years since I was at Tad’s, and was willing to take a trip down memory lane. Some memories are better kept in the past. This place was dead empty! The food I received tasted as if it had been there waiting for me since 1988 which was the year I was last at Tad’s. The steak had a rotted taste to it and the Heinz steak sauce did not help at all because that as well was horrible. Where is the A-1 Tad’s? It was rotted shoe leather. The baked potato was a warm mess and then they want one dollar extra for lousy sour cream. The garlic bread should be called lousy stale bread with some sort of wetness on it because there is no garlic taste to be had. The salad still came in the same miserable looking plastic bowl I remember from 1988 and they wanted one dollar extra for tomato. No thank you on the sour cream and the tomato. The salad had zero seasoning and even the dressings were tasteless. Dressing left over from the 80’s? I could not believe that the best part of this horrendous meal was the bottle of water I had. I would not go as far as to recommend Tad’s to anyone, even those on death row. It is a crime that Tad’s broiled steaks is open and it needs to be closed asap! I hate that my memories of this place convinced me to dine here, but in a way I am glad to have it over and done with. What made it even more sad was the fact that there was a line of amazing well known food trucks a block and a half away. How I wish I would have gone food truck hopping instead. The kicker? One of them was a steak truck! I must also add that my youngest brother was the one who was wanting to go here after hearing the stories about Tad’s. It was something he needed to experience and along with him and myself, my mother and sister were there. We all had the same experience and thought that the taste of rotted steak and miserable sides were never going to go away. Luckily after a few hours it did. Old food, a creepy interior and pretty much an establishment begging to be put out of its misery, I wish it would happen sooner rather than later. Please do not eat here, spend the extra 100 and go to a real deal steakhouse for an amazing meal.

I love Tad’s. Unlike a lot of steak places, this is a place you can go everyday. At less than $ 9 the lunch special is a great deal, and you will feel pleasantly full when your are done, not stuffed like you would at most other steak houses. I recommend skipping the garlic bread, for a serious low carb lunch. While these steaks may be a «tad» chewy, the flavor can’t be beat. Last time I went to Spark’s the steak was more tender but had way less flavor. I’m a carnivore; I have teeth: gimme a steak with flavor and I’ll happily chew it. The location on 50th and 7th is sadly the last one left in the city. Enjoy it while you can!

Eh, SF Tad’s is better! Friendlier staff and food quality is consistent. The place was empty. Most West Coasters tells me that New Yorkers are rude and I’ve been in NY for a few days now and have come across some of the nicest locals here… Except for the Tad’s cashier who rolled her eyes and gave us a dirty look when we wanted tap water vs buying her bottled water. She complained about the business being slow to the person in front of us, maybe if she sharpened up on customer service skills her business may pick up. Or, she can be NY’s new steak nazi like the Soup Nazi from Seinfeld! Hey, I still have to give it 3 stars because the food and price is still good! You can find a lunch deal with steak and and salad in Time Square for 9.00!

Sorry Tad, but the quality of your food has seriously diminished through the years. We ordered the«Big One» and what were received was a dainty piece of freeze-thawed-freeze-thawed again slab of mush that wasn’t even cooked properly nor evenly. The only reason for coming here was because I had read they were closing down, so for nostalgia’s sake(parents used to take me here when I was growing up) I paid one last visit. Even the garlic bread was lacking as it was dry. The baked potato also tasted… old and simply reheated. The only thing decent was the salad sadly.
