Nice neighborhood place. Lamb burger was delicious! Price is right, and service too. Interior is lots of dark wood, long bar at the entrance, a typical bar but better looking.

We were looking for an expensive place in the area to grab some brunch and South’s fit the bill pretty well. $ 14 for a entre and a drink isn’t the best deal in town but it’s a great deal for the area. To start I had a bowl of French onion soup which was very enjoyable. For my entre I had corned beef hash and eggs. Corned beef hash comes in a lot of different styles, this one was like home fries with some corned beef mixed in. The corned beef was real corned beef not the canned stuff though it was a little dry. The mimosas were good and for $ 14 I’m not complaining. I’d come back again and all those pictures of nachos are calling my name.

Around 12:30pm on a Friday, we were immediately seated into the beautiful South’s Bar. It’s dim, it’s romantic, it’s beautiful pink cardinals in a cute little jar. Our waitress, Chelsea, was so wonderful, it really put the bow on top for my experience here. You notice that there’s a huge brown paper covering the table. Why? Because, you’re going to order the nachos. You’re going to order the nachos, you’re going to be astonished by the size, you’re probably going to try to finish it, and you’re probably going to fail. Unless you have a table of at least four people. My friend and I tried to devour these chili nachos, obviously without much success, but it was absolutely worth it. Just helpings of chili, black beans, jalapenos, salsa, guac, sour cream, and cheese. And of course, a good helping of freshly made tortilla chips on the bottom. Also deliciously paired with prosseco of course. I also had their turkey club which was super fresh and lovely. Not a good choice if you’re still trying to devour the chili nachos though, but try it! It’s really good. Then, you have the fries — delicious and even better when you take them home. I’ve actually been surprised to say that, because usually fries are awful when you take them home but these somehow got better with time. Ah, definitely will be back!

It was a nice little bar. When we came, there were no cocktails. Despite the fact that they have a full bar, the waitress could not explain why they do not serve cocktails. Nachos was amazing as well as chicken breast with rice. Chicken was tender and juicy. The only thing that I did not like the waitress’s attitude. We can around 7pm on Saturday and she acted like it was 3am Monday night. Food cooked very slow tho.

Went for lunch with my supervisor and an account team colleague. The place was empty, so we were promptly seated at a table in the back. The waitress was very kind and patient with us, allowing all the time we needed to make our drink and food decisions. I went with the lamb burger(comes with fries), which was one of their daily specials for $ 13.50. My thoughts: * BOMB-TASTIC! The burger comes with a side of tzatziki sauce. You must spread this fantastic condiment gratuitously over your fine piece of charbroiled lamb beef. * ALWAYS assemble your burger and cut it in half(highly recommended for a clean eating experience) * Fries were tasty — they almost reminded me of FIVEGUYS’ fries. Great seasoning, a little on the crispy side. * UNSWEETENEDICEDTEA W/LEMON — all day South’s is definitely one of those neighborhood establishments in Tribeca that you can’t go wrong with. I’ve been a handful of times since I work up the road in the AT&T building — it’s great to take new employees out to lunch or even a post-work happy hour drink.

I eat there regularly and is always perfect. Great beers selection, amazing service and cool décor. Is a busy place that gives you the feeling of being at a real bar, great times. Lagunitas and Blackened Catfish sandwich are a MUST! Brunch’s package is very good.

Ordered Mac and Cheese and the Bison Burger and I have to say I am very disapppointed. Both were extremely dry and just didn’t taste right. The calamari wasn’t good but not the worst. Two stars for good customer service but other than that the food was a huge disappointment.

Came here with pretty much an entire audience after an event with my friend’s theater group late on a Saturday night, and the place was relatively crowded to begin with. I was incredibly impressed with how dexterously the bartender(Jason) managed the huge crowd pretty much all by himself amid the blitz of drink and food orders and the cacophony of general merriment. We spoke to him a great deal late in the night when the place was closing, and he was incredibly entertaining once he had time to speak — just a great, friendly and incredibly capable barkeep. The food was quite good for bar fare — the Four Cheese Mac and Cheese was quite tasty, but when the heaping plate of nachos that my friends ordered came out, I was incredibly jealous. But I bade my time well, and got to pick some off when everyone else’s stomach gave out. I tend to stay away from nachos because they are so hit-and-miss depending upon how stingy a place is with the toppings — don’t make that mistake here! Very no frills kind of place — not a specialty cocktail kind of place or craft beer mecca, but a nice spot and good atmosphere to enjoy well-made drinks and solid food.

Update: The new girl is Andie… She’s also great! I am a regular here at souths… The day bartenders, formerly Sandra, and fri-sat girl Charlie are amazing. I’m still adjusting to the newest bartender(can’t recall her name) who is not as engaging or entertaining as the former girl. I’ve definitely been coming less as a result, but with lunch options in the area limited, it remains a staple. The food rocks– fresh, seasonal, delicious, good portions and affordable for TriBeCa. Always try to grab something off the daily special… It could be anything, but I’d always good. I’d rattle off some of the dishes I’ve enjoyed but quite honestly, I’ve never had one that wasn’t excellent. The hidden gem of this pub is the brunch. I found it by accident, having no idea it was different from any other day. $ 14 will buy you a large breakfast(Irish breakfast anyone?) as well as a delicious cocktail.

I tried the blackened catfish sandwich and I have to say it was really good. It also looks better than it tastes. It comes with a fresh garden salad for the $ 13 lunch special.

This place is alright. Nothing exactly screamed«wow» for me except for the monstrous size of their nachos. The atmosphere was pretty chill, more lively at the front where the bar is but I had a sit down dinner for three. Maybe that’s where I went wrong? Of course, we got the nachos. If you’re gonna come here, it’s pretty much inevitable! Unfortunately, it just tasted«all right». In fact, everything just tasted«all right». I had the Four Cheese Mac and Cheese, my friend had the Shepherd’s Pie and my bf had the pasta something. While I like to believe I’m a devoted fan of cheese, my dish actually turned out to be the worst. Maybe my taste buds are uncultured and unrefined, but it was bitter! It does get a bit crowded towards the evening but it’s still a pretty good place to hang for a couple of beers if you’re in the area!

Food is good but the atmosphere is great! I sat at the bar had a pretty relaxing lunch. There are huge windows in the front and the bar has this aged quality that I believe to be genuine, making this a cozy but open space. I had the chipotle chicken sandwich. It was good but maybe not what I was actually craving. The food came out fast though and you get your money’s worth here. Seems like it would be really nice for dinner. The back area is really intimate with small windows and dimly lit wood tables and benches. Very pretty and rustic. Go! Enjoy!

I work in the area and wanted to try something new for lunch and this is where I landed. I ordered their beet salad and added grilled chicken. It was good — nothing amazing though…

Ordered takeout, the Corn Meal Crusted Calamari and it’s over cooked. It’s actually uneatable. My jaw hurts from eating just 5 pieces. However the owner readily addressed the issue, he explained that ordering calamari to go isn’t such a great idea, since it is in a closed container until you are ready to eat. I understood where he was coming from, he sent me a n order of chicken fingers as a replacement, and they were filling and delicious.

This place is a-ok. Yesterday, I had brunch here — overall I thought South’s was pretty decent. Nothing too special, but definitely satisfied the craving a for cozy brunch on a rainy Saturday. I had the corned beef hash(which I would not recommend, as it was chewy and essentially just eggs on chopped up beef), however my friend had the turkey /avocado fritata, tex eggs, and breakfast burrito and all enjoyed their meals. Because its Christmas season, the restaurant was decorated(with adorable Christmas balls hanging from the ceiling), which I really liked.

Another solid bar/restaurant in Tribeca. Came here after work with a friend for drinks and dinner. The best part is that happy hour goes until 8! All drinks are $ 2 off. I’d stick with wine and beer, as the cocktails were overpriced for what they were(but hey, this is New York) For dinner, my friend and I each got a veggie burger. It was good! I ordered mine topped with avocado for $ 1 extra. It was pretty dark, but it worked for me. It was mostly full on a Tuesday. I’d go back when I want to meet friends in the area

happy hour is $ 2 off drinks. $ 5 sangrias. The mussels are really good. Please try it :) We also ordered a plate of nachos which were a mound of chips with lots and lots of cheese, jalapenos and black beans. Can’t say these were the best nachos I’ve had. Just way too much cheddar for my liking so it’s really heavy and filling. Decent location in tribeca. good service.

Chill vibe. Sandra the bartender was super friendly and split our large group’s bill — amazing. The menu barely covered basic comfort food, with a few interesting dishes thrown in. I’d like to see some more traditional Southern sides like creamed spinach and fried okra. My Mac & cheese was delicious but I would have rather ordered a side of it with another entrée. Will definitely be back!
