Terrific Sandwich! Been several times now and service is great but the food is the star of the show.

Yeah, it’s that good. This place only does one thing and it does it perfectly. What do you get when you comer here? You get a pork sandwich on a soft, flakey, buttery, ciabatta smothered with red onion jam and a mustard sauce. Tangy hot sauce is served on the side, with a pickle and a wet nap. Two sizes are available for the hungry or the hungrier diner, and so are chips, drinks and beer/cider(to stay). I picked up the bigger sandwich and bag of chips and it ran me almost 20 bucks. While the price is sort of a bummer, it’s worth it. I took my sandwich back to work and disappeared into a dark corner of my work place to devour my sandwich. The meat was soft, juicy, well seasoned and you can taste the quality of the bread. I found it odd that they didn’t cut my sandwich and the big chunks of meat made it a little unwieldy to eat; but I didn’t mind picking up chunks of meet with my hands, dipping it in the hot sauce and licking the remnants from my fingers. Definitely worth checking out!

This tiny location packs some major flavor into its sammies! I had the Rocket Pig sandwich. I know the star of the show is supposed to be the meat, but can we talk about the side items for a moment. I am not a fan of pickles. I pretty much avoid them unless they’re fried or sweetened, but this house-made pickle was FRESH. It had just enough salt to feel like the perfect meal finisher. Next, the rocket pig«hot»(it’s more sweet than heat) sauce. My only complaint is that there wasn’t more of it. I suggest you smother this sauce on the equally amazing ciabatta roll and layer it on every bite you take cause it is oh soooo good. My only issue with this place was that the meat was more fat than meat. It may have just been my cut, so I would definitely give this place another try.

Amazing little find, you have to inhale the smell of the kitchen, the soup is amazing as is the shortie pork ciabatta. Pork paradise I say!

The shorty sandwich was very yummy, and the wait wasn’t that long at all… probably because it’s a weekday. The pork itself was cooked perfectly, it was very tender and I didn’t hurt my jaw from eating it. Would definitely come back when I’m around that area!

It’s hard to know what to say about Rocket Pig. You might stumble into it, looking for a snack after an afternoon of gallery hopping, and you might think about turning around and walking back out when you see that it’s a hole in the wall that only serves one kind of sandwich, and a pork sandwich at that. Actually, you have no idea what is about to happen. Just order and prepare to be very happy. You will thank me. It doesn’t matter what else you do, feel free to order a drink, a dessert, or even a bacon-laced caramel to finish things off. But before you dig into your sandwich find a wall to lean against. Because your knees are going to get weak after the first bite and you don’t want to risk dropping the sandwich. It’s that good.

A hole in a wall place in Chelsea. The ambiance is really cozy. Go for the lunch box, it’ll be worth it!

I get the hype. This reminds me of the porchetta sandwich at rolling roti in SF. Roasted pork done excellently on ciabatta bread, what’s not to like? I got a shorty and some slaw, in retrospect I think you should just go whole hog(get it?) and get the pignic basket and split it for two. Each sandwich comes with a pickle as well. I don’t live too far away, I can see myself getting hankerings on the reg. At the price point, it ain’t cheap, but it’s definitely special and a treat.

Food is a solid 4 and I’ll get to the details in a bit. Unfortunately service was a 2. We came about 90 minutes before closing and ordered 2 «pignics,» the $ 20 combo with an original size sandwich, chops, cole slaw, drink and dessert. They were out of the original size rolls, so the guy behind the counter offers me a «shorty» in my pignic instead. Given that we had just walked crosstown the width of Manhattan, I wasn’t leaving without a sandwich. The guy rings me up for two pignics, one with a $ 14 original and one with a $ 9 shorty, and it’s $ 40. Huh? I asked him why it wasn’t cheaper for the pignic with the shorty and he said there’s «no options.» I think the least he could do was throw in another pack of chips or a free $ 1 pickle, but nope. They didn’t try anything to make up for the fact that I paid for the original but got a sandwich half the size. I guess this is what happens when you’re popular in NYC: You can start charging your customers the wrong price and just shrug at bad customer service. Now for the good news: the food is worth the crosstown walk. Savory, tender pork, perfect ciabatta roll, fresh, crunchy cole slaw, great drink selection with British ginger beer and limonata, and the caramels and chocolate mousse cookies are aaaahmazing. And it’s a deal at $ 20. Don’t get me wrong: it’s worth every penny of the $ 20, but to me, good customer service is priceless.

Walked in to the rocket pig a small place and a guy behind the counter, but does not make the sandwiches. He calls for the maker over and over! Finally here he is, and he makes a mean sandwich. Grabbed the bag, and ran out the door afraid of what I’ll find. YES, THANKYOULORD, NOTICKET!

UH-MAZ-ING. This was such a surprise. I actually went into the sister restaurant at the front, but don’t be fooled. This place is predominantly a take-out place located on the side-street. There is a rusty(intentional) door, with a small outdoor standing area. Inside is a tiny little space that sells amazing pork sandwiches. It’s apparently a secret family recipe. I’d recommend the large for sure. But even more, get the Pignic Box. It’s $ 20 for a collection of their items, all delicious. Pignic Box: 1. Pork sandwich: MYGOD this was heaven on earth. It’s fatty, but it’s probably the most flavorful pork I’ve had to date. I think if you’re in NY, you should come here. 2. Pickle: Home made fresh, crispy. 3. Cole slaw: Not your average mayonnaise infused monstrosity. This is amazingly fresh and also pickled. I loved it. 4. Drink: Comes with the box. They have interesting options like«ginger beer.» 5. Desserts: I tried the chocolate mousse cookie and brownie. Both were awesome. I’d get the mousse cookie given it’s quite unique! You’ll be surprised at the crispy thin wafers and the mousse inside. It’s made beautifully. You get 3 of them. The service is excellent. Pricing is reasonable. You will love it.

This may very well be the best sandwich I’ve ever had, and it also might be the best sandwich in the world. Which sandwich? Their regular sandwich, they have one. It’s unreal. I think my perfect day would involve eating this sandwich. If you haven’t tried it, I’m so sorry. Please do so soon for your own sake.

Wow… this place blew a rocket into my tastebuds. It was simply amazing. There is a restaurant(sit down) adjacent — but this review is for the to-go fast food shanty connected to it. You don’t really expect much, the place is almost hidden. You open the door and it’s literally just a counter. You look at the menu and there is only one item on the menu. The rocket pig sandwich aka pork sandwich. You can choose a smaller size or a big size and pair it up with a combo if you want drinks/chips/coleslaw etc. Now. I wasn’t hungry but hey when has that stopped me from eating. I went with the small and I’d say it was decent size. If I was hungry though. small would’ve been a bad choice. The pork sandwich here is NOT pulled pork. For some reason when I hear pork and sandwich I automatically assume it’s pulled pork. I personally am. neutral on pulled pork sandwiches. On one hand they’re okay on the other it’s sort of a dry sauce filled sandwich. Anyways Rocket Pig sandwich is not that. They take this giant slab of pork and they cut these thick slices with juicy fat all over it. The bread is almost like a ciabatta type but not really but who cares it’s amazing. It’s then topped off with juicy onions and some sort of sauce. The result? One of the best sandwiches I have ever eaten. EVER. Thick slices of fatty juicy pork come on nowwwwwwwww that’s not even fair. Onions added great flavor, wasn’t overpowering. You can eat standing inside since there’s a little table shelf you can put your food on or right outside(same thing standing shelf). The casual nature of this dining experience just made it better. I am adding this to my gotta eat every time I’m in New York now. Till next time Rocket Pig. till next time.

One of the best sandwiches in NYC without a doubt. I’d recommend getting the small unless you are absolutely starving as the large is tough for one person to finish. The quality of the pork and the sauce is perfect, this is def a place worth going out of your way to try. Not the easiest place to find as its tucked right off 10th avenue but worth the effort.

I saw some of the pictures for Rocket Pig, and I knew I had to give it a shot, being the pork aficionado that I am. You’ll likely notice that Rocket Pig is a sort of a fast food add-on to Trestle on Tenth, the restaurant next door on Tenth Avenue. This place is more of a stand, than an actual restaurant or café. There’s only a bit of standing room, with jutting tables attached to the walls surrounding the small square outdoor space. We watched some confused parties walk into Rocket Pig, thinking they had walked into the wrong place, only to realize that the modest, austere stand was exactly what they were looking for. Like the space, the menu is fairly limited too, with the only main dishes being the«Original» sandwich($ 14), and the«Shorty» version($ 9) of the sandwich. For $ 20(+tip), you can order the Pignic basket, which is the Original sandwich, a bag of chips, their house-made coleslaw, a large pickle, your choice of soda, and your choice of dessert. I went with the sour cream and onion chips, a ginger beer, and the chocolate-hazelnut mousse filled cookies. I felt at $ 20, I felt the Pignic basket was a pretty good deal, especially with all the items you get. That being said, if you order the sandwich by itself at $ 14, the value isn’t quite there, in my opinion. The sandwich though, is a marvel. The slow-roasted pork is delicious, and when combined with the crusty ciabatta bun with red onion jam, quite a formidable combination. My recommendation is to add the vinegary coleslaw into the sandwich, so you get a bit of crunch inside, and a bit of acid to cut the richness of the pork. Hoo yeah. The pickle was pretty nice, the chips were standard and the ginger beer really hit the spot. But the chocolate-hazelnut mousse cookies were bomb. As someone without much of a sweet tooth, I can tell you that that dessert is something definitely worth coming back for, along with the sandwich. The people behind the counter were very patient and friendly, and helped us make our decisions pretty quickly. Next time I’m walking the High Line and craving a good sandwich on the go, I’ll look no further than Rocket Pig.

Was really excited when I heard about this place. Small menu specializing in pig sandwiches and original treats. Went here as soon as they opened up on a Saturday morning so I can get the freshest meat possible(giggity). For $ 20ish: original-sized pork sandwich, cup of cole slaw, sour cream and onion chips, 3 hazelnut/chocolate cookies, dandelion soda, and a pickle. Not much for seating so I just took the ledge outside and cowered by the sheer amount of food in front of me. Not one to back from a challenge I went straight for the sandwich and it was glorious. Piping hot, meat falling off in saucy glory. Nothing else needed to be added. Dandelion soda was interesting and went well with the meal. Managed to scarf down the pickle and some of the cole slaw but had to pack the chips/cookies to go. Very filling meal. As for those cookies: chocolate covered crackers sandwiching hazelnut cream — fantastic. Easily a five star place despite the lack of seating. I do recommend going early to get the freshest cuts possible, but even then the cookies alone are worth the trip over. Want to try the bacon caramels next.

How have I missed this place that’s only a few blocks from my apartment? Big mistake. Cause the Pig Sandwich is truly amazing, some of the best pork I’ve had since I was in Budapest, Hungary(country of pig experts) a few years ago. But makes sense cause the owner-chef is from nearby Switzerland. Very important — this is NOTBBQ or Pulled Pork… this is pork that has been soaked in a proprietary brine recipe for 3 days, then smoked for a day and then roasted for another day, then carved with the perfect ratio of meat-to-fat. I got the regular sandwich in the«picnic combo» for $ 20 and was a great deal — includes the sandwich, chips, coleslaw, huge homemade pickle, soft drink and a dessert(bacon caramels were awesome). Listen, this has to be the best damn pork sandwich in NYC, so I highly recommend you have it while you can as its really only a «side-project» of the chef-owner’s restaurant, Trestle on Tenth. Don’t make the mistake I did and let this one slip.

The pork in the sandwich didnt have much flavor, and maybe this was deliberate? I was confused by the lack of flavor it had(the menu says the pork is smoked and rubbed with spices. Didn’t taste any of that). Sandwich overall did have great texture, soft pork and onion jam went well together. Still it was not much to write about. In fact i dont remember how it tasted after drinking a soda. How can a pork taste so bland??? It’s just one of those trendy spots to get a $ 14 sandwich, and im not sure why it costs that much. There isnt much space or décor, and the sandwich is a lot smaller than whats shown in pictures. The pork isnt anything special, so why am i paying more for something i could get from a local latin restaurant for half the price? Because of onion jams? Give me a break. A random Dominican joint nearby will give you a legit pork sandwich that taste the same as this one for half the price. Or better yet, i could get a beautiful brunch at a nearby café for $ 14. The sandwich is overpriced and overrated.
