Amazingly tasty specialty cocktails, some of the friendliest bartenders in the city, and great music! Would definitely come back for drinks!!! And will try the food next time.

Good gastro pub fare being turned out at this spot. Grilled octopus is nicely charred but still tender to the bite and the meatballs hold their own with any of the better Italian restaurants in the city. Burger topped with Roquefort cheese is plenty flavorful while surprise and maybe unsung hero of the menu is the jalapeño grits.

Where does one go to relax after a nice walk along the elevated Highline park in Chelsea? Look no further than The Fillmore Room. Less than a year old, this new restaurant is in the old home of Moran’s, which opened it’s doors in 1957. But it hasn’t lost it’s old-school charm. The Fillmore features five gorgeous copper-hooded fireplaces, luminescent tin ceiling tiles, exposed beams, brick walls and deco lighting fixtures. In fact the Moran’s original wooden bar and fireplaces are still there. The revamped place is owned by Chef Liran Mezan. Born in Israel, Liran grew up in NYC and then moved to California’s Napa Valley. My girlfriend and I had the pleasure of previewing his new menu a few weeks ago. I began with a delightfully refreshing cocktail called the Strawberry Smash, made with vodka, basil, lemon, agave, and of course fresh strawberries. She started out a bit stronger, ordering the Death Avenue Cowboy. With bourbon, lilet, yellow chartreuse, absinthe and lemon, it was a bit strong for my taste but she thoroughly enjoyed it. For starters we had the Veal Ricotta Meatballs and the Brussels Sprout Salad. The salad was made with duck prosciutto, crisped quinoa and pomegranates. It was absolutely delicious. The meatballs were tasty as well, made with fresh ricotta, pomodoro(tomato for the non-Italian speakers) and kale toast. Next came a sampling of four main courses: the Ricotta Gnocchi(wild & tame mushroom bolognese, parsnip and pecorino), Braised Shortribs(cabernet, truffled parsnip and pearl onions), mini Fillmore burgers(made with Worchestershire onions bacon marmalade and roquefort) and Brown Butter Brook Trout. All were good, but the trout was exceptional! Accompanying the main courses were a set of three sides. The Green Grits were my girlfriend’s favorite. Being from the south she’s a grits fan but I’m a northerner and shy away from them. I enjoyed the Cauliflower Nibs with pesto and herbs. Both of us really liked the gruyère and parmesan Mac & Cheese. With full bellies we ordered up another two cocktails from German born master mixologist Alex Ott. I had The Fillmore(bourbon, Grand Marnier, lemon and wine float) while my more sophisticated half got a Manhattan. Both hit the spot after such a big meal. We ended the night with a scoop of lemon sorbet. It was a relaxing romantic evening and we highly enjoyed the place. We recommend getting a table right beside one of the gorgeous fireplaces. Not only are they nice to look at but they’re warm too! Thumbs up and hats off to Chef Liran Mezan!

So let’s say you are planning a date with with your top chick… not the side chick or the around-the-way-girl-chick…your #1 chick, do this: You get a hot chocolate at the Standard, walk the HighLine, hold hands, make out, take retarded selfies, gawk at the other tourists, exit/walk down the stairs at 18th street. then get brunch at The Fillmore Room. This(formerly Moran’s) über-sexy spot has the baby-makin ambiance, music, cocktails, fare that will keep your top chick… well…in your stable. Oh yeah, get the warm bacon marmalade… that ish was crack-cocaine quality. Yummmmmm You. Are. Welcome.

Hit this little number on my highline-munchie date with the boy. I can only speak on three things: the jars, and two drinks. The jars: DELICIOUS. Get the jars if you’re into dipping and spreading. Cheese, pickled veg, mousse-y things, dippy things, and crispy crostini makes for a million flavor combination explosions in our mouth and I would definitely get it again. Yum. Be adventurous eaters people. The drinks: we got a the yellow bloody and the green bloody. Both were well received. NOT classic bloodies FYI so if you’re a bloody purist, I do not recommend. However, since purism in drinking is especially frowned upon by me, I loved it.

I’d come here for the retro décor, real fireplace, and cocktails alone — it’s very Gatsby — but the food is solid too. I was skeptical given the odd mix of dishes(shakshuka and bone marrow and burgers and kale?) but individually they were all well done when i tried them. I’d lean toward the seasonal specials if you have no idea what to order, the new squash soup I had recently on the autumn menu was amazing. Oh, and the tobacco fries are true«shoestring» fries — so if you don’t like them matchstick thin & crispy, you may be confused, but don’t act like you weren’t warned. Been here a couple times since it opened — happy to say it’s gotten even better over time. The new bartender offered to create a custom drink base on my mood, too, if you’re into that sort of thing.

Came here with a group of 7 girlfriends, not the easiest crowd to please but finding a restaurant with great food, ambiance, and service is sometimes a challenge. The server was always pleasant and patient with us and even the Chef came by to make sure our food was to our liking. We ordered a bunch of appetizers to share, and I had a salad with a steak on the side. I am very fussy about how my meat is cooked and they nailed it. Everyone in the group was happy and pleasantly surprised by the food! Will definitely come back.

In fairness I only stopped in for a drink. Tip: Skip on the Bloody Mary. It is a pre made mix with lots of horseradish. It’s like drinking a shrimp cocktail without the shrimp. Bartender was nice, friendly and attentive. She tried to let me sample other mixes but they were not good. She did a great job managing the patrons at the bar and service bar. Having said that the restaurant charged us $ 30 for a Bloody Mary I did not drink and I told them I didn’t like the flavor or taste. They had the fireplace lit so it was very warm inside when it was only 60’degrees outside. We did not eat so I cannot fairly assess the food. Place was not as crowded as nearby brunch spots.

My friend and I came here on a Sunday afternoon for brunch and were seated immediately in their outside dining area. The atmosphere was enjoyable but the food wasn’t great. I ordered the eggs benedict and my friend got the baked eggs shakshuka. The poached eggs in both of our meals were not poached but cooked all the way through. I make eggs a lot at home so I noticed that consistency of the fully cooked egg was strange. The home fries tasted like they were sitting out for a while and the salad that came with my meal had a really bad taste to it. This was the first time I couldn’t fully finish my eggs benedict – my all time favorite brunch meal! I guess a waitress overheard my friend and I talking about the food because she came over and asked if everything was okay. We mentioned the issues and she asked if we wanted new plates and that should notify the cook. We opted to not receive new plates as we were in a rush. While I was disappointed by the food and will not be returning, I was very impressed with the customer experience. The waitress who took our complaint comp’d our bill generously, which meant a lot to my friend and I.

As summer is winding down I’m trying to make the most of the warm weather and wear as many fun things before my wardrobe turns into all black everything. This week’s fashionplate takes place at another new spot in my hood-The Fillmore Room, near the highline. It was an unusually warm weeknight so I rocked our Patsy aztec inspired maxi dress with suede detail. My bestie and I opted to sit inside so we would not sweat. We decided to split a bunch of things probably over-ordered but whatevs. I decided to cool of with the Strawberry Smash which was über refreshing cocktail. We started with half a dozen west coast oysters which were perfect on this sweltering day. We then got the baked oysters Rockefeller which were delish and very decadent. I loved the kale caesar. We then totally overindulged and got the mac and cheese and special portobello fries which put us over the edge but were very yummy. Now on to the fashion part of the fashionplate. We went right before fashion week so there were some buyer dinners surrounding us, so bring your A game when coming here. It wasn’t über crowded however, this definitely seems like more of a wintertime spot with that great fireplace. The waiter was über attentive and sweet.

Absolutely terrible service. Hostess was nowhere to be found on arrival. All wait staff ignored us until we asked if we could be seated. Waitress finally came over to seat us. Then, as we were being seated, hostess asked if we had a reservation with attitude. Waiter was slow and rude. Ordered two burgers and three orders of fries(and other things), asked for ketchup and were given a thimble’s worth for the entire table. When we were done, we sat there forever, waiting for plates to be cleared, even after we stacked them after awhile. Bill came to $ 95. Put down $ 120 and the waiter asked if we wanted change! After waiting another ten minutes for change, the waiter didn’t put it on the table. Just asked me how much I wanted back. Put it all on the table with the bill and I’ll figure it out. Unbelievably unprofessional. I will never go back.

Absolutely a dismal experience. We sat down to a room devoid of any customers and, after 20 minutes with no server, I had to get up and summon one. With no apologies, our server asked for our order. I asked for an egg white frittata and was told it takes 20 minutes. For a frittata. It’s whipped eggs thrown in a pan. I was told that was the only ‘healthy’ selection. I ordered a cappuccino that arrived after 10 minutes, cold. I opted for no food and the decision that this will be the last time I patronize this business. In NYC, having good food(a trait that I haven’t even confirmed, here) is a requirement. Good service is a must. This joint fails miserably.

Located on the corner of 19th Street &10th Avenue in Chelsea, The Fillmore Room is a neighborhood American-style gem. This art-deco style space has casual views of the Highline and a «people-watching» patio like no other. Perfect for all you creeps out there(us). When Moran’s closed, we were very eager to see what type of restaurant would take over this prime Chelsea space. Moran’s turned into The Fillmore Room, which is the perfect addition to the always-trendy Chelsea neighborhood. They respectfully kept the original rustic bar and fireplaces which add delightful charm to a restaurant that could easily let the food speak for itself. Liran Mezan, Executive Chef and Owner, knows his way around a kitchen and it shows. Cut to our experience at The Fillmore Room: A warm and pleasant greeting from the staff upon our arrival set the scene for a great experience. As we sat outside at our table and let the patio vibe settle in, we couldn’t help but notice the complimentary bread coming our way. Sometimes the bread can tell you everything you need to know about a meal to come. This time, the bread said«get your taste-buds ready, y’all.» Not sure why the bread had a southern accent, but it was delicious. Now, let’s breakdown our meal. NOTE: We only post 5-star reviews. If we don’t like an establishment, we will not write a review on Unilocal. More Recommendations:

Good atmosphere with good music background. The night we were there it was jazzy/lounge music. When it became night time, they kept lights dim, so it was a cool atmosphere. Service was good(except the front lady who checks reservation and leads you to your table… She seems like she hated her job). Food was very good and fresh.

BEST restaurant I have stumbled upon while in the Chelsea/High line area. It was around 1pm on Sunday and we were pleasantly surprised to walk by thier gorgeous open patio and find an available table. Even when we asked to glance at the menu the hostess was eager to see if we were interested in something else and could check out the lunch or dinner menu if necessary. Couldn’t have been happier that we decided to stay. Each of us ordered a different brunch entrée and everyone was over the moon about their choices. The eggs Benedict was prepared perfectly and large portions as described by our waiter. All fresh ingredients and must have come directly after being cooked. Personally I am unable to avoid the listing of shrimp and grits on any menu and was thrilled with the green tomato grits and the delightful sauteed tomato and spinach that housed the main focus of the dish. The huevos rancheros were per my friend the best he has ever tasted and living in the Bronx said he would make it a point to make the trek back with friends just so that they could also taste how amazing they were. 6 stars if I could. Great service, amazing location and one of the best brunches I have had in the city.(also all at a fair price.)
