They consistently deliver the food very late(on average 60 min past promised delivery time) and provide very poor customer service.

Oh my goodness! I am over the moon for their ginger bowl! Today was my first time, and I will definitely be back! Your pork is tender and delicious and the whole dish was incredibly flavorful. Friendly staff, too!

Ordered delivery from here, and what I received was a bowl about a quarter of the way filled. For the money they charge you, this is ridiculous.

Very convenient spot for those working around the area and quite healthy for you too, but it’s way too overpriced for a bowl of quinoa, veges, and a protein. It’s basically, as my other fellow reviewers have pointed out, a healthier American version of Chipotle. There are better options around.

The healthy chick’s Chipotle upgrade. It’s ok. I can see why some people like this place so much because the ingredients are top quality. You can see the meats roasting, all are super fresh and flavorful. The one gripe I have: portion sizes. I think this is slightly overpriced for the amount of food you get — about $ 12 a bowl. While the food is great, I left still hungry.

Been here about 5 times and I always get the same thing: warm ginger bowl(mixed kale, basmati rice, roasted corn, scallions, sesame seeds, bean sprouts and ginger scallion sauce. I get it with the shio Koji marinated pork. So good! The lines get crazy here at lunchtime but it does move pretty fast. It can be a bit overwhelming your first time here so study the menu before coming. When the lines are long they have a girl walk through the line and take everyone’s order. After coming here twice she already remembers my name and order each time. By the time you reach your turn at the front of the line, your order is waiting. They’ve always gotten mine right although I did see them mess someone’s order once so check before you go. One day I’ll try the other things on the menu.

I like roast kitchen. A lot! My gotta-have: house mix, cranberries, crispy onion, mushroom and corn with red curry sauce or Moroccan sauce, for the meat I always get their spicy chicken. It’s not that spicy hehehe. The other good thing about this location they are fast with delivery compare to the other location in Madison and 49th, which they messed up my order so far twice already. So if u never try roast kitchen, come and try I was hesitate in the beginning but now I’m pretty much hooked!

Great option if you’re looking for healthy fast casual. They have hot and cold dishes and I totally recommend their Ginger dish with steak. It’s the only time kale was edible AND delicious!

I stopped by here for lunch. The line was long but moved fairly quickly. The staff clearly had it down to a science and that was much appreciated. As for the food itself is was good. I had one of the cold bowls. My only complaint was how little was in the bowl for how much it was. When I’ve gotten other salad bowls around the city for similar prices I’ve always had enough to save for dinner. I crushed this whole bowl no problem. There’s nowhere to sit so this is definitely a grab and go kind place!

My biggest gripe about this place is their lack of costumer attentiveness and flat out carelessness. As a first time costumer, they weren’t very helpful with my visit. When I mentioned it was my first time, hoping they would inform me how it all works, they said absolutely nothing. In this economic climate, I choose to consciously give my money to establishments who respect and appreciate my patronage. Better bowls at Pita Grill or Chipotle.

Ordered Moroccan bowl, supposed to be my favorite but the staff put dried rice in my bowl. How dry you ask? I feel like chewing glass. This kind of things don’t just happen in this store. It happens to roast kitchen everywhere.

Nice décor. Stopped here for a quick breakfast and it was terrible. Egg sandwich was so dry I had to throw the bread away and eat the innards. Service was bizarre to. There were two guys, when the food was done for the family before us, the plated it and let it sit for at least 5 minutes before the guy that was cooking put it on a tray and took their money. It was cold for sure.

Must have went here about 40 times and promoted to numerous work colleagues. Today I ordered hot bowl with steak. I added shrimp as I have done numerous times. The charge for the hot bowl is 8.50 + 3.49 for the sirloin. But it costs an additional 7 bucks for 3 medium shrimp. Are you shitting me? Did Gordon Ramsay come in and cook them? Are the shrimp descendants of Poseidon? When I asked the manager he said its recent change by owners and actually looked embarrassed. Next time it would be advisable to tell your customers of this ludicrous charge.

This place is kinda strange. I ordered the In Season Hot Bowl with creamed spinach and all I literally got was a pound of quinoa and ½ pound of creamed spinach. But… but… What about the spicy walnut, goat cheese, and mixed greens??? How could I only got 3 of each? Literally, three, when they’re actually main ingredients? o_o Anyways, with the taste and imbalanced portions, I give them place 1 star.

Here’s the deal. I’m giving Roast two stars because the food itself is actually quite delicious… Once you get past the price and the ordering system. I have a problem with the staff. I’ve been to roast approximately 10 times, as I live around the corner. It’s easy and, again, the food is good/can be healthy. However! Every time I walk through the door im «greeted» with a person talking to me facing the back saying«what kind lettuce you want?» Literally, not even a complete sentence. This is followed by the next four people in the assembly line. «Whatchu want?» for my vegetables and«Which one?» for my sauce. Add to that the 4 people SITTING at one of the three patron tables yelling across the room profanity about who has what job. No joke. 8 people working and 4 sitting down talking to the other four who can’t be bothered by my existence. Roast is a decent concept and could thrive, but not with this type of staff or management. Get it together.

This is an assembly line style restaurant where you place your order as you go through the line and watch as it is being prepared. Seating is very limited, with a couple of tables and some more seats at a counter against the window. I came here for breakfast. I had been looking for the Pax establishment at this address, but it appears that Roast Kitchen replaced Pax. They have breakfast platters that are inexpensive and a good value for the money. Two eggs, potatoes, and a bagel are $ 3.95. Add sausage or bacon for $ 1.50. Coffee was $ 1.85. The potatoes were a little special, as they were shredded and very spicy. I liked them. The bagel seemed slightly stale. The coffee was weak. The line moved fairly slowly, so by the time I was finished in the line and paid, the eggs were no longer hot. Pork sausage was ok. I can’t complain too much, though, considering the price, and would come back here if I were looking for a quick, inexpensive meal.

Think along the lines of a cold and hot salad bar married with Chipotle. Roast Kitchen offers patrons customed menu items or the option to pick salad toppings that are mixed in a bowl or stir-fried. Rotisserie meats(pork, chicken, beef and/or shrimp) are offered as sides to your bowl creation. The Ginger bowl seems to be the most ordered(personal favorite) Its composed of mixed kale and jasmine rice, roasted corn, scallions, bean sprouts and sesame seeds tossed in a ginger scallion dression. Portion sizing is good and you feel healthy afterwards.

Stopped in for lunch with some coworkers and was very pleasantly surprised. Décor: There is not much to this place, it’s pretty much meant for carry-out only(although there is a «shelf» along the window where you could stand and eat if you wanted). But it’s clean, inviting, and smell great(b/c of all the delicious food cooling). Staff: Their order system is a bit convoluted but other than that everyone was very nice. A few signs or something pointing people where they need to go would help reduce the confusion(as both the workers and customers were growing frustrated trying to figure out who ordered and who didn’t). Food: You can go with a build-you-own or a pre-fab. I went with the seasonal pre-fab and really enjoyed it. They have a great selection of veggies and meats and everything looks delicious(and FRESH)! I, of course, had double meat in my bowl but the normal portion should be enough for a regular appetite. I also added the grilled veggies(in addition to what came with it) and am glad I did because they were very tasty. Value: It is a little bit more on the pricey side, for just a lunch, but given that the ingredients are fresh and locally sourced I can easily let it slide. This place is one of my new favorites and I know I will be back again, probably soon.

Really enjoyed the food, very fresh. To get down to 2 stars you might think would be difficult– here’s how. The service is terrible. I’ve never seen a grumpier, slower, more apathetic group of kids working somewhere. I felt especially sorry for the couple in front of us who got their food 10 minutes AFTER we started eating(and our food took way too long as it was). Good grief– the garbage. I almost forgot. It was piled up on all of the tables and you definitely couldn’t fit anymore in the actual garbage can. We had to gather what was left on the table, pile it up elsewhere just to get a place to set our food down. Not many seats.

Roast Kitchen NY: Manhattan: Seaport Village 12pm Saturday 15th November 2014 Three Stars After getting some discount theatre tickets for Avenue Q, we stopped by Roast Kitchen. The space has impressively open floor plan with lots of light and wood work. The process was a bit complicated at first but its just like every other fast casual place where you pick what you want. The Green Hair Lady Employee was nice and helped me walk through the process. I had a hot bowl: Greens: House Mix(Spinach, Kale, & bok choy); Mix Ins: Avocado, Chorizo, Roasted Corn, and Brussel Sprouts; Sauce: Herb Jus; Meat: Shio Koji Marinated Pork. Everything was good except for the Brussel Sprouts which were undercooked and unseasoned. I would think that a Julienne Cut work help it cook better in the hot bowl. The Pork was exceptionally delicious with a similar profile to Char Siu(Chinese BBQ Pork). I normally prefer Chipotle but this place feels healthier.
