I’m heartbroken that they’ve closed. I used to live a block away from here and believe me — it was dangerous! I brought my hubby here on one of our first dates and I still think it was one of our best — and most fun meals ever! Messy? Absolutely! Delicious! Undoubtedly! Filling, fattening, decadent, over-the-top, and everything you could possibly want in a peanut butter sandwich? YES! YES! YES! Especially if you go the whole 9 yards kids’ experience and get a yummy vanilla shake and a chocolate chip cookie to top it all off!(And you can make yourself feel better by telling yourself, hey! At least I’m eating carrot sticks too!) Granted, you’ll want a nap and a verrrrry long walk around the village afterwards, but it was worth it! The shop itself was simple, cozy, a terrific place to hang out, and the kind of place that just keeps drawing you back. Anyone who bitched about $ 9 for an extraordinary pb & j sandwich, or the messiness, or the graininess of the peanut butter, just didn’t get it. I’m sorry for you. Peanut Butter & Co. you will be sorely missed.

If you like peanuts, this is your place. They expanded their brand from this shopfront to supermarkets nationwide. I’ve been here a few times and just the other weekend to find out it was to be the store’s last day. The guy behind the counter had offered us some cashew samples which we refused as we were rushing off to a brunch engagements. He got a little snide afterwards saying that he wouldn’t be making that offer again, so there nyah. Makes total sense given that the store is no more. We picked up a trio of our favorite flavors and sent the friends we brunched with back to the shop so they could collect theirs.

One of the BEST Sandwiches I’ve ever had… and it was a peanut butter sandwhich. It was just so good. The Elvis with maple peanut butter and bacon is the perfect combination of sweet and salty and smooth and crunchy. Fills your tummy up and warms your heart.

This is a fun spot to grab a snack for peanut butter lovers! If you are over peanut butter and jelly sandwich and want to excite your taste buds you’ve found the right place! They make a variety of peanut butter sandwiches using their own bran of peanut butter. They incorporate in gradients like cream cheese and bacon which aren’t usually thought of as ingredient to mix with peanut butter but it works! I got the Elvis made with maple peanut butter, banana, and BACON! You can pick the flavor of peanut butter and the type of bread so there is room for customization. The sandwich was definitely rich and very filling so I was in table to eat half. All the flavors work well together from the saltiness of the bacon, the nutty sweet flavor of the peanut butter, to the crispy grilled toast.

Don’t think too hard here. It’s expensive, but go for the Elvis with bacon. $ 10.60. I know it’s steep, but it can be shared and was very flavorful. Get it with maple peanut butter or the dark chocolate peanut butter, two flavors that would compliment the saltiness of bacon. Mind you, the peanut butter wasn’t as smooth as I expected it to be. I was able to crunch on the sugar which is a particular faux-pas for me.

Overpriced peanut butter sandwich and the people that work there are rude and not helpful. Buy bread and peanut butter and whatever else you want on your sandwich and save money.

I love peanut butter so I thought this place couldn’t go wrong/I ordered the Elvis(whole wheat bread with crunchy pb & bananas) it was served as a sloppy mess –?as if it fell off the plate and they put it back on. Way too much PB — I think I’m done with PB forever–

Trendy and cute, with a variety of homemade peanut butters. Creamy, chunky, chocolate, even spicy! There is a huge list of sandwich choices. I got the Elvis with bacon. So delicious!

After walking through Washington Square Park, we decided on lunch at Peanut Butter & Co. There were 6, including twin 4 ½ y/o’s. We had a peanut butter and raspberry jelly, which was delicious, a fluffernutter(PB& Fluff), Peanut Butter Cup(PB& Nutella), Elvis(PB, banana, honey and BACON) and 2 salad bowls with tuna salad. You get your choice of white or wheat, toasted or not and smooth or creamy PB. The sandwiches are HUGE and come with some potato chips and carrot slices. Getting it toasted made it super gooey, crunchy and awesome. The drinks are equally fantastic. Vanilla shake was creamy and sweet. The Mary Jane(Vanilla ice cream, PB and honey) was insane. Tasted just like the candy! Our kids had the hot chocolate and the staff split it into 2 mugs for them. They then switched to smaller mugs to make it easier. They were great. If you’re in the area, stop by for a blast from the past. It will make you feel like a kid again.

Tasty sandwich, but 8 dollars for a peanut butter sandwich? No thanks. The lady that works the register also makes drinks and busses the tables at a pace that can only be described as «glacial», so it takes forever to order and get a table cleaned so you can sit down.

So I love that this exists in the West Village. There is a small menu of different peanut butter sandwich creations; both sweet and savory. I’ve tried a few and they have all been delicious. Peanut Butter Co peanut butters are amazing. They are really high quality and organic and tasty. Prices are pretty reasonable. My only gripe is that the bagels they use for some of the sandwiches are really not good quality. They are probably Lenders. You’re located in NYC! You could sneeze and it it would hit like 5 bagel shops. Upgrade please!

I love this place. My favorite sandwich is the Elvis. Its so large I can eat half while I am there and take the other half with me. I love the sampler platter too. Its no frills, diner style tables that leaves you satisfied from the inside out !

The peanut butter is way, way, way too sweet, and for some reason this is all I can find in my neighborhood bodegas. I’d prefer Jif/Skippy over this!

I began purchasing Peanut Butter & Co’s peanut butter long before I actually moved to New York City. My favorite flavors are Mighty Maple, Dark Chocolate Dreams, and White Chocolate Wonderful. I love to make desserts from scratch, and my recommendation is to try your hand at some no-bake cookies with the Dark Chocolate Dreams, or find a recipe for a homemade peanut butter flavored cake and use the Mighty Maple. BUT if you’re not feeling ambitious, these peanut butters are good for eating right out of the jar… something I also do! This is a great spot to study if you’re a student, especially since it’s usually not very crowded during the afternoon, and there is access to outlets so you can use your phone or computer without worrying about it dying. When I get sick of being at the library and need a snack, I’ll come here. The brownies are amazing and are 2/$ 5.00. The cookies are also great. The peanut butter pie is something I’d recommend trying(WITH whipped topping). I really don’t think you could go wrong here, regardless of what you order. Also, the employees are friendly and attentive. If you’re looking for a chill, laid-back spot to catch up on some reading or writing and satisfy your sweet tooth, check this place out!

I’ve been meaning to try this place for years now, and I finally made it in! I can’t speak for the drinks or desserts, but my sandwich was very good! I ordered the Peanut Butter Cup with Dark Chocolate peanut butter and nutella. The toasted wheat bread made it a gooey and delicious mess. The staff is nice and the vibe inside is very chill. Pretty small, but it wasn’t crowded when we went, so there was no issues getting seats. Only negative would be the price tag. I paid roughly $ 8, for something i could’ve done at home(admittedly not as well though). Nonetheless, I’ll be back to continue being robbed and to try the other delectable looking things on the menu!

The Place: It’s a pretty basic spot. There’s nothing beautiful about the dining area. It may be better suited for taking out and eating in the park on a nice day. The menu and interesting selection of food combinations make it a cool place to try. The Food: They mainly serve sandwiches, in flavor combinations that you may not think of on your own, but you could certainly go home and make easily. The sandwiches always taste great, but they aren’t very big. You can buy their peanut butter in jars at the store, just as you can at most markets nearby. The Value: The food tastes great, and they have truly interesting flavor combinations, but the sandwiches aren’t really that big, and are somewhat expensive for what they are. After ordering you often wonder why you didn’t just buy the ingredients and easily make it yourself.

The PB&J was very delicious, although a touch of salt might have blown my mind. We did the Elvis, no bacon. Perfectly constructed and proportioned. Bananas, fresh, just the right sized slices, and evenly distributed. I will, however, give some notes on beverage policy. 1. If I’m taking a sandwich to go/just buying some PB, your no outside drinks policy does not apply to me. 2. If I’ve already ordered — and I’d go as far as saying even if I’m dining in — your no outside drinks policy does not apply to me. 3. If I have a beverage from your retail neighbor, Third Rail Coffee, AND I’m dining out, your no outside drinks policy really does not apply to me. 4. If you’re going to take 15 minutes to slice a banana into PB&J that you’re putting in a bag for me to take away, your no outside drinks policy does not apply to me. 5. If you don’t want to suck at running the counter at the PB&J shop, do not be way uncool about the outside drinks policy.

Ordered: Mighty maple sandwich, Bee’s knees sandwich, and Root beer float Pros-Cute atmosphere. Their peanut butter jars(sold in-store and elsewhere) offer a variety of flavors. My favorite is the dark chocolate one. Cons-Menu food items weren’t memorable.

The concept of this place is what reeled me in. Who wouldn’t want to go somewhere that’s completely revolved peanut butter? The restaurant has a very relaxed feel to it, just like you’re at home with comfort food to match. I had the cookie dough surprise with smooth peanut butter, vanilla cream cheese, and chocolate chips. To die for! The staff is super friendly as well, overall had an awesome experience.

Peanut Butter & Co. is everything you could want as a kid and as an adult. Some could argue that changing something as classic as a peanut butter and jelly sandwich is sacrilegious, but what the staff has done is make art. This gem in New York City is something to be admired not only because of its food, but because of its ability to delicately balance the old and the new, the nostalgia with fresh ideas, and the excitement with something so… normal. Despite the minimal square footage, PB&C is packed with décor that speaks to decades past and just enough space to fit seating for about 15 – 20 people. Above the counter, you’ll find an alarmingly large menu for a restaurant based solely in peanut butter sandwiches. And as you scan the menu, you’ll find yourself struggling between the sweet and the savory, the simple and the complicated. The magic of PB&C is that you can’t go wrong with any item on that inventive menu. Each time I’ve come here for lunch, I’ve been lucky enough to meet who I assume is the owner, but if she’s not, she’s the most pleasant and welcoming woman I’ve come across. As she brings you your sandwich on a plate with carrots, celery, and a bag of chips, you feel compelled to say«Thank you, grandma!» That type of nostalgia and homeliness is priceless.

The thing that irked me was how the staff made me feel bad for ordering two sandwiches. Since I couldn’t decide between a sweet or savory sandwich, I got both the grilled cheese with bacon and chocolate chip sandwich with vanilla cream cheese and chocolate chips. Both sandwiches came with carrots and a small bag of chips. While me and a coworker waited for our order, the wait staff came out with my coworker’s sandwich and only one of the two sandwiches I ordered. When the second sandwich came, the older lady brought it out and looked around to see who the order was for. There were only two tables including ours, so she was confused as everyone had a plate. I told her it was my other order and she looked at me like she didn’t believe me and said«oh, you’re having two»? Even the people at the table next to us was smiling at her comment and reaction. My coworker then said«oh, don’t let her fool you» and tried to make the situation better. But what a way to make a customer feel bad for giving you more business! I ate half of each sandwich and packed the left overs to go. I feel like the whole time I’m being judged for what I ordered and looked at like I’m strange. I mean really?! Is that how you treat a paying customer? Why would you create an awkward and uncomfortable atmosphere for your customer? Do you really think that makes them want to return or recommend you to others? I also had a coupon where I got a free hot chocolate. I honestly loved the hot chocolate and it came in a large cozy yellow cup that makes you just want to snuggle up to a fireplace. The experience aside, I’m not too crazy for the grilled cheese and chocolate chip sandwich and the sandwiches are definitely overpriced. I feel like I can easily make them myself at home.

After spectating and being my head cheerleader for the NYC marathon, it was Mark C.‘s request to eat lunch at Peanut Butter & Co. He is a big fan of their retail products and when he heard that someone would make him a PB sandwich with a variety of combos we hopped on the train and headed to this PB mecca. Small and unobtrusive, it was pretty quiet when we arrived. A unique and smallish(by CT standards dining area and walk up order counter pretty much take up the entire space with its walls adorned with all types of kitschy kitchen and peanut butter paraphernalia. There was a good variety of PB combinations and drink selections from milk to milkshakes to smoothies to wash down your meal. Going all out I ordered the Elvis WITH bacon(since everything tastes better with bacon, especially PB), smooth peanut butter(you have the option for chunky) on toasted wheat(had to be a bit healthy). I also ordered a glass of milk to wash everything down, keeping it as old school as possible. Our order was brought out relatively quick and it was glorious. It’s been a while since I had a PB sandwich and this took me back. The sandwich was chock full of peanut butter and banana and the salty bacon(although a bit overcooked) complemented the sandwich nicely. It was a «struggle» but that sandwich was demolished! Each sandwich also came with a small bag of chips and carrot sticks, a nice retro touch. There I agree with Ron S and Jess L — the price I paid for a PB sandwich here was pretty steep and I probably would not have plunked down the cash had I been back home, but again given the rent in the area I can’t complain too much

I had the fluffernutter sandwich. It was good. Came with carrots and chips. They were good. I also got a shake, not so good. I’ll be back but just for the sandwiches.
