I just came here to watch cartoons USA soccer. It’s exactly what I was looking for, an average, maybe slightly divey, sports bar. Staff was nice and they got us seats and a TV just for us with the game so that was nice. $ 9 for a beer and a club soda which is whatever considering the neighborhood hit overpriced for the type of venue it is. Oh well, I’d be back for sports if I was in the area.

Horrible customer service. Went to have a few drinks for my brothers birthday. The place was empty on a Saturday night(no big deal). This Irish heavy set bartender with craters on his face was not personable at all. Didn’t even offer us any birthday shots. Spent $ 200 and wasn’t even offered a free round or nothing. Then he had the nerve to complain about a tip. Seems like a cool place but bad experience and will never go there again.

Best pub in the city with the hottest bartenders around. Great crowd. Possible the most chill bar in the village.

A pleasantly divey bar with good drink specials, plenty of space, and friendly bar staff.

Things have changed in the past 5 years. Very friendly staff. You can get food from the area but this a chill and relax place to come too

This is a cool bar if you’re looking for a laid-back casual place to spend an afternoon or evening with friends. They had a pool table and it wasn’t overly crowded when I went there this Halloween before the parade. The bartender was cool, she carded me and then remarked that I look good(for my age) lol. I liked the place and would go back.

Went here and got bothered by some creeps. Definitely bad vibes in this bar. No food either.

Great neighborhood sports bar, especially if your team isn’t playing and you want to watch everything at once – they show it all. Game audio is on though I’m not sure how they select(no Giants today but the jets were playing and colts audio was on). Animated crowd, friendly bartenders, cheap drinks(happy hour 1 – 8 weekdays). No kitchen so outside food is welcomed and allowed. Perfect place when you wanna leave your couch, but feel like you haven’t!

I’ve found Triona’s is a nice place to catch up with a group of old friend over a couple beers. I went during the winter once though and couldn’t find anywhere to put my coat.

Probably our best bar experience in NYC. We don’t «do» pretentious upscale bars, so this place fit us well. I definitely wouldn’t consider it «divey» at all, just maybe a little«seasoned» and what you expect of «going to the bar.» The bartenders were attentive with the large crowd(NHL playoffs were on and Chicago fans were hoarding the bar) and very quick… but the drink prices were very fair compared to what I expected in an NYC bar.

Great crowd! Came here on a Friday night and played pool and darts with a good group of people who were more than willing to play doubles with us. Drinks were a bit expensive for the casual type of spot, but we had fun nonetheless.

As I have finally started adding reviews to Unilocal(since I use it frequently to discover new places), I most definitely owe Triona’s a review. Both locations are wonderful, but I love the village location. I came in here about 7 years ago and continued to frequent the establishment(sadly, less when I moved to midtown and even sadder, now I don’t live in New York), and enjoyed all of my experiences. The owners, Triona and Mike, make you feel at home at their bars and treat all of their patrons with respect(unless you are actin’ a fool… which is your own personal problem.) Drink prices are very reasonable and the alcohol tends to flow here. There are a lot of neighborhood regulars, which definitely adds to its’ charm. I recommend coming here to watch games, play some pool, and just enjoy a few(too many). They do not serve food at this location, but they always let you bring in food and they will provide you with menus for delivery in the area. I could keep going, but I’ll stop; I love this place and will always return on my visits back to city!

When it comes to dive/Irish bars, you want cheap beer, and a casual, relaxed atmosphere. Well, here ya have it! No food, though, so grab something on your way there if you are meeting people. The owner is great, and sometimes even bartends herself. The décor is funny, the beer is good, and the«craic» is great! Pool table and darts in the room to the left.

Are your friends Lily, Ted, Marshall, Robin and Barney? If they are, Triona’s is the bar for you! The atmosphere at Triona’s is almost like an exact replica of the real-life bar that is MacLaren’s Pub, the same one used in How I Met Your Mother! There are plenty of brew choices! Prices are inexpensive and service is friendly! There are plenty of televisions to watch the big sporting events or challenge your buddy to a game of pool! Great place to bring a large group of friends and socialize; this is a popular choice for NYU students. NOFOODSERVEDHERE!

Great variety of good beers… And cheap prices too… But you need to buy food outside the place… The bartender is really awesome too!

Went there to watch a soccer game. My guy used to come here a lot to watch the European Champions League. Apparently it’s a good place to watch games: many tvs, nice bartenders, cheap happy hour. A good place in the area.

As a fan of dive bars, Triona’s offers me everything I need: cold beer on tap, a pool table, and a large bar to meet new people. Stopped in for a quick drink & potty break, the staff was very friendly and didn’t have to wait around for a drink. They’ve got a pool table in the back and with all the other bars in the area, it’s a must stop on any bar crawls that may lead you here.

4.5 stars… Definitely one of my favorite bars. I’ve never been here during prime weekend times and I’m not into obnoxious college bars, their location next to NYU makes me hesitant to coming on a Saturday night but I’ve enjoyed this place every time I’ve come here regardless. I love this divey bar because of their awesome prices, friendly vibe, and games(two dart board, pool table, an arcade game(it was either bowling or golf), and occasionally a beer pong table). The games are in a separate side room which is perfect to set yourself off from the main bar area. Their regular prices are cheap enough but if you consider their happy hour specials(till 8pm) and rotating daily specials, there’s few places you can drink for less. I believe during happy hour they had a couple $ 3 options and the rest of the drafts were $ 4. Lastly, they don’t serve food here but you’re in a neighborhood with a ton of options and they don’t mind you bringing in outside food.
