The Red Lion is a great non-bro, non-college student infested bar in the NYU area. Though there is a cover to get in($ 10), it’s worth it for the live music. At 11:30pm on a Saturday night, my group of friends and I had no problem getting in. Yes it was very busy inside, but unlike most obnoxious places, the line wasn’t out the door and down the block. Inside, the crowd is very diverse, which is a nice change of scenery from the surrounding bars in the area. The music was great too. Though I’m not the biggest fan of 70’s hits, the band was awesome and you could tell they had a lot of passion for their music.

This bar has all the elements I love, a nice and spacious layout, dimly lit, lcds playing sports, great happy hour specials with very good food, and live music. The staff is very welcoming making and the wait time are very reasonable. The happy hours are m-f 3pm-8pm with $ 3 beers, shots, $ 5 well, $ 6 martinis, and $ 4 appetizers and wings. Tuesdays 10 cent wings and wednesdays $ 1 tacos. Whoah. The wings are great, do try the terriyaki. You must try the Red Lion beer, it surprisingly earned a place as onw of my favorite beers, keep in mind that I am not a beer connoisseur. A very good place to hang out with friends. This is definitely now one of my go to bars.

ZEROSTARS!!! This bar came recommended by a friend and when we arrived we were very excited !!! Until we tried to order a drink from a guy tattooed blonde faux hawk a hole! The music is so loud that when we tried to order a vodka cran with a premium vodka we were met with nothing but attitude and unprofessionalism. We actually want to spend more in case the thought perplexed you Mr. Bartender. If you actually gave a crap to listen when my sober friend tried verbally tell you this ! It was a chore to get his attention to do this she had to physically touch him because he just kept ignoring her. My friend then was told very rudely to never f ing touch him and then walked away? We all were stunned. Then he never came back to help and another blonde girl bartender came over and was also very rude. Wtf? Just a total let down. These bartenders do not represent this brand well and actually have cost this company revenue and customers. I will make sure to post on all my social media outlets and to all my friends to never come here. Tip for future *asshole bartenders destroy good bars.

Came out for a burger and a show(cover band night!). Cons: The place was pretty dark when we went(7pm-10pm), and when the band played, it was impossible to hold a conversation anywhere in the bar without leaning in close and yelling. There were two waitresses for the whole place(plus the manager/owner?), which wasn’t great to begin with as we came in, sat down, and had to flag someone down(although the manager/owner did come over a few minutes later to make sure we were being tended to, which rocked), but as the night went on and tons of people were squished in front of the stage, it was pretty much impossible to find the servers through all the clamor. Pros: First off, the place is appealing on looks alone — it has a great old pub vibe, there is a good amount of seating for when bands aren’t on, and the bar itself seems to have a good variety of drinks. The place is clean, the beer is cold, and the staff is friendly and helpful. We both ordered the Loaded Burger in rare and medium rare, and when they arrived they were actually rare and medium rare. To top it off, the burgers were not soggy in the slightest. The fries were delicious and came with a caddy with vinegar, ketchup, and something else. There were a bunch of TV screens with various channels showing sports and such, and while they are great to watch if you are there just for the game, they are not distracting for those not interested. Both the band and crowd had a great vibe. Overall: I would really recommend this place to anyone looking for a great meal out, pub style, in the area. If you love bands, bars, and great food, this is the place for you!

Good bands but irritatingly inconsistent charges. They sometimes charge a cover charge– and it is not adjusted against your bill. In which case, it’s an entrance fee and not a cover charge. Some people are charged a cover charge by the bouncer type guy at he door. Many are not. We were — and when we asked why the cover charge wasn’t adjusted against the sizeable bill as the definition of a cover charge implies, the ostensibly very well travelled manager insisted this is how cover charges work. Her travels seem to have been restricted to Bleecker St. A sour taste to an otherwise nice place. Not sure if we want to go back to a discriminatory place that’s wildly inconsistent.

Place is clean, staff very friendly and on top of their service, food wasn’t too shabby. Monday night entertainment is worth the trip.

We popped in here around 11am on a Saturday morning and found this place quiet but buzzing with some dedicated soccer supporters watching the early games. They have a handful of TVs throughout the restaurant/bar and one main projector for any big game. There is plenty of seating with views, so that shouldn’t be an issue but it is definitely a very casual atmosphere. Getting to the food, I went with the ginormous breakfast burger(came with a fried egg and onions and fries) that I couldn’t finish. It was very rich and had plenty of flavors but it was overcooked a bit. Thankfully the actual patty was lost with the other flavors of the burger that didn’t make this bad. Overall, the service was good and prices were fair for what you ordered. I am not sure what the scene becomes later in the day, but as we started heading out around 12:30pm or so, it was getting full with other supporters coming through. I would suggest getting here on the earlier side to claim your territory come game-time. Buon appetito.

I enjoyed a great band, good drinks and met a bunch of nice people. It’s old school and a good place if you want to experience NY without hundreds of tourists.

An early day drinking bar hop calls for divey spots and lots of shots. We walked in to around 5 people at the bar, and got some pickle backs plus shot specials(TYBG Unilocal). I’m pretty sure the shot specials were the Something Something shot, which is anything they have too much of. We added in the Birthday Suit shot, which tastes just like cake! Yum. We finished it off with a Rowdy Red Lion, they were extra strong drinks. Decently priced, we dropped around 6.50 $ per drink. This is a nice spot to start off the night with, or grab a drink with friends and catch up.

Great bar to come to for live music and drinks. Nothing fancy at all and has a dive bar feel. I am not sure about the food but be sure to check it out on a friday/saturday night.

Been here a bunch of times for food and drinks. It’s either dead or packed. It doesn’t rally have a specific theme or feel about which is kind of blah but you can take a varied crowd here and be okay

This place is amazing! First, the customer service is amazing. When we came here, the staff actually made us feel welcome. The awesome thing is that they were genuine about it. Second, the prices are really reasonable. The happy hour and sports specials rock. So, why not 5 stars? Well, the price may be great but the food is still just standard bar fare. It isn’t bad but neither it is amazing. Except the mozzarella sticks. Get those. My God, that sauce must have crack in it. I can’t get enough! One more thing. This is an ALL sports friendly bar. We tried 4 other bars first on a Sunday afternoon. Heaven forbid you are a hockey fan anywhere on a Sunday. Nobody was willing to put on the game for us even on the smallest TV in to corner except here. They are willing to put their 8 screens on 8 different channels. This is great for us Rangers fans! So, great prices. Decent food. Outstanding customer service. I am very impressed and will be back!!!

This place is only good on Fridays and Saturdays. But note that it can get VERY crowded so make sure you get enough booze before you go! Don’t even bother going other days. I was there this past Thursday and the place was dead. Not to mention the 2 guys playing were really boring. Pros — Great bands on Fridays and Saturdays Cons — Rude bouncer(the fat guy who stays inside near the band, not the guys at the door) — It gets very very crowded on Fridays and Saturdays, you can’t barely move. If you try to go to the bar good luck with that! — Cover charge even during weekdays when the place is dead. I understand a cover charge for weekends but cover charge when there are like 20 people inside and a shitty band? — No coat check, so if you have a jacket or a purse, you’ll need to hold on to it the whole night because the bouncer won’t allow you to place it on the floor. — Somewhat expensive drinks being that we’re talking about the west village area. Would I go back? Probably yes, but after I get drunk at another bar and by the time I get to Red Lion I would be dancing better than John Travolta at Saturday night fever. Good for dates? NO Good to hang out with friends just for a couple drinks? NO Good to sit and watch the band play? NO Good to dance when I got wasted at Down the Hatch and Off The Wagon drinking $ 9 pitchers and wanna hit on girls or if you’re a girl wanna hit on guys? YES

With a beautiful sunny day outside, was scoping Bleeker for some outside seating during lunch. Red Lion offered some sunlight and decent meal options. Ordered the Tomato, Mozzarella, Arugula, & Pesto sandwich on wheat bread($ 9) and a SoCo Sangria($ 11). Found the drink to be a little expensive, but it was so nice out, a beer just wouldn’t suffice. Not too strong, but refreshing enough with the meal. The sandwich was warm, but probably could have toasted the bread. The side salad it came with was good with the dressing. Unilocal check-in offers a free shot with a drink — just wasn’t going to do that for an office lunch. Fine service and okay meal for the area(but you can get cheaper).

We came here on 22 March at 930 am for a ManU game. Not very crowded but the 50 odd people(mostly british) were glued to the screens. Good atmosphere to 2 watch a football(soccer in u.s.) game. Few simple and nice breakfast items. Would definitely recommend it to anyone to watch premier League games.
