Hale & Hearty Soups

Love the food but got really upset when they over charge me for a small soup. $ 6.10! That’s no mistake when you only order one item.

Terrible terrible, ordered delivery received 30minute window as to when to food will be here. 15minutes after the window has expired still no food, so I call the store. The manager tells she’ll send it out right now…30min later still no food.
PS not the first time this happened, according to others in my office.

General manager here screamed to her coworker in front of me very unacceptable just because she gave me the wrong soup

Extremely disappointed with my order today. I order 2 – 3 times a week. Usually very consistent and I learned to place my order early as they take a pretty long time to deliver. I’m only 2 avenues and 1 block away. Now, the reason for my poor rating. When I received my order of mashed potato and broccoli I immediately started eating… by bite number 6 I discovered a large piece of plastic in my soup. Large piece. Larger than a quarter. Then as I dig through the soup I find more. Very disappointing and the lack of compassion from the manager was gross. Yea, they refunded me but that’s not the point. Pull the soup and inspect it so no one chokes or dies from swallowing plastic.

Waited for so long. I ordered the simmers, the shrimp one. I got something looks completely different from the picture. Not to mention the whole bowl full of sands and stones. Did you guys forget to wash the crab before you cook it? Really disappointing

I was out and about and decided to have a quick lunch. It is always difficult to make a decision as to which soup to get since the choices are vast. I ended up with a corn chowder with shrimp and got half a sandwich along with this [similar to Panera’s you pick two option]
The staff was pleasant and the food was good. For a quick lunch-​it was most satisfying. I would recommend and return.

There are many soups and sandwiches and salads to choose from here. What kills me is the price. The soup and half sandwich combo can cost you $ 10. I wish you received more bang for your buck here but you have to remember you’re on the UES.

You can’t go wrong with the soups here, but the people working here are not the nicest. They let us order food and then tried to kick us out in the middle of our meal, because it was their closing time. First of all they should have let us know that we couldn’t eat our salads inside before we ordered and secondly we just needed 10 more mins to finish and be on our way. It’s not like we had finished eating and just sat there chatting. Did you want me to take my plate half full and finish it outside in the rain, lady? I don’t thinks so. Have some common sense !!

I work around the corner so I’m here quite frequently. the food save for maybe one time is always delicious! they always have a great mix of soups and sandwiches so no matter what my taste buds are thinking there is something to satisfy them. the sandwiches are usually the same but there is always enough variety that you never have to get the same thing. i also just found out that they have a rewards card that they stamp for every visit and when you visit i think 7 times you get your 8^th soup free! id be lying if i said that didnt make me come the more often. free lunch in manhattan is unheard of! the staff is always friendly and now that they kinda know me we chat and joke all the time too. see you guys tomorrow most likely!

1:20pm to 1:50pm estimated delivery time on an order placed at 1:10pm. I called at 2:10 asking for the status and it still hasn’t left the restaurant because the delivery guy isn’t back from the previous run. I don’t know what else to say…

Had the New England Clam chowder and it was the best ive tasted so far. Up sized to medium for $ 1 and with half a sandwhich it is 9.50 $ including tax. The sandwhich however was so hard, couldnt bite into it as they use hard bread. Id probably get the wrap next time. Fillings in the sandwhich is pretty bland but equally healthy.

However their sandwiches are Meh!

You can never fail with hale and hearty! The food is always fresh and you’d have to be the pickiest person on the face of the earth if you have a hard time choosing a soup — they have SO MANY choices and I love that they have many healthy options. You can even taste the soup beforehand so you can’t regret your purchase!

Hectic lunch lines as expected. I did not appreciate being ignored by the staff though. I wasted a good five minutes because they skipped over me even though I was ready to order.
I really loved their sandwiches though. It’s always fresh and ready to go, which is uncommon of chain places. I also really enjoy their New England clam chowder, even though it’s probably full of preservatives, it’s still 100% worth it because it is delicious. The lunch special is a bit on the pricier side (around $ 7.50+tax depending on the soup that you choose and half a sandwich or salad). You can upgrade the size of the soup for extra ($ 1 for a medium or $ 2 for a large). Comes with free crackers or bread with your soup! The soup is always warm and toasty, which is great for a cold winter day.
Good thing is that they accept credit and debit. Lifesavers. Though, I was not offered a patron card by my cashier, which was upsetting. I only heard about it from the other cashier when I sat down to eat my meal. Oh well. This place is pretty spacious compared to the Hale & Hearty on 64^th St and Lex, a lot more space to sit down and have a quick lunch.

Just wanted to share some (unfortunately) negative feedback from my experience with the store at 78^th & Lexington.
— Placed order on Saturday, March 29^th at 12:45pm. Estimated delivery time 30 — 45 minutes.
— Food arrived at 1:50, with one sandwich wrong and two lukewarm soups.
— After nearly ten minutes talking to various employees and eventually a woman that identified herself as the manager, was told a replacement sandwich would be sent (we nuked the soup).
— Replacement sandwich arrives at 3:30, almost 3 hours after original order placed.
By that time I had made other arrangements for lunch, and gave the sandwich to the doorman.
I will not be ordering from Hale and Hearty again.
BTW, before posting this review I emailed the store with my feedback. It’s been weeks and no response.

I ordered from here at 11:15am, and didn’t receive my order for almost 2 hours.
The woman I spoke to twice told me that the delivery guy had already left, but when I asked the delivery guy, he only received the order 20 minutes prior to arriving.
If I wasn’t so cold and hungry I’d tell them to cancel the order. Thankfully, the soup was still hot. Hence the two stars.

I eat in hale and hearty regularly and their food is the best for quick and healthy lunch. Everything is super fresh and there is a variety of delicious soups. Highly recommend!

Good soups, but I’ve had better. Good sandwiches, but I’ve had better. I guess in general, everything’s just decidedly average? Can’t complain too much at the given prices though.
Also would appreciate if they had more seating, but I suppose this is the sort of location you pop by to grab lunch during work. Again, can’t complain too much, given the type of store.

This small place is popluar among residents around Lex and 3^rd. A compbo of small soup and ½ sandwich is great value and of good quality too. If you are busy and want to grab a quick bite, this is the place. I know their sandwiches are freshy made because I ate in Grand central location, where sandwish were pre-​made and placed in a plastic container.
I like tomato soup, chicken & vegi soup, and claim chowder, even corn chowder. Sandwiches are pretty good — not salty so It seems healthier. However, they can use more vegies or meats to offset the taste of too much bread. Roast beef sandwich looks so nice but it was a bit bland. But I think they are healthy that way than using fatty sauces to enhance the flavor.

I got an overpriced but yummy eight ounce serving of tomato rice soup and a slice of sourdough bread for $ 3.69.
It kept me full.
