I like it here, but my experience today really turned me off to the place. I’ve been here a bunch of times over the past few months and generally have a good experience. I always get a grilled cheese with tomato, for which they charged me $ 5.25 before tax. Today, I order the exact same thing and it’s $ 6.50 before tax. I ask about the discrepancy, and they said that previously, they must not have charged me for cheese. What? I explained that I thought the cost of a grilled cheese typically included cheese, but they said that no, here the base charge is $ 5.50(for bread and tomato??) and *then* they charge an additional $ 1.25 for the cheese. This is among the more ridiculous things I’ve heard. So, on principle, I’m just not sure if I’ll be coming back.

Great warm feeling café that is a frequent goto spot for quick coffees, snacks, breakfasts or take out dinners. Great selection of pastries, sandwiches and pre packaged food items(quiche, a fave) as well as an expanded number of dinner items — both entrees and healthy sides and salads. Looking for dinner options, the employee suggested an entrée and two sides for $ 9 or $ 10; great idea, will take two! We both had the beef brisket with sides of mixed veggies, rice, quinoa and lentils — all fabulous especially the brisket… except the quinoa which I felt was under flavored. The negatives: — hours: they close too early(8pm), earlier(at least certain days) summer. — occasionally employees while hard working forget paying customers are the ultimate reason they are there, over prep work. I’ve seen this several times when the often present owner is not there and twice this week alone. Earlier in the week, an employee hanging faux spring flowers from the ceiling needed to move his ladder in front of me and the dinner display counters where I was deciding on dinner options. He continued trying to maneuver the ladder in front of me even after I said I’m deciding what I would like; seriously, he wanted me to stop looking and move while ordering so he could get on his ladder and hang faux flowers — I asked can you please wait for two minutes until I decide what to order? He actually rolled his eyes like I was an inconvenience so I added a reminder that even at a flower shop they would take care of their paying customers before working on their displays … Another morning at 7am I was one of the only people there, only person at the counter as the two guys worked on their prep work. After a minute of standing there, I said excuse me, may I please get a coffee? The one guy told me to wait a minute…(As he was preparing other coffee pots.) I glanced around to see a guy at a table who saw the situation, read my bewildered expression and laughed, shrugged. A minute or so later the employee finished his coffee pot organizing task as the other continued tending to the salad bar — and attended to me, the paying customer. Some of the employees need a little reminder that when the owner is not around, they need to put customers over prep and faux flower work. Regardless, highly recommend as a breakfast, lunch or coffee spot, and even wonderful takeout food for dinner.

My favorite coffee shop on the UES! I always grab a coffee and muffin for breakfast and they never fail to deliver. Even when my parents come in from out of town we have to stop in at least once for Morning Glory muffins and Blueberry muffins. There is usually a line, but they are pretty quick about it. Plus, it gives you time to check out their huge menu on the wall behind the counter. They make pretty good bacon, egg, and cheese bagel and all the desserts are delicious. I would definitely try this place out if you are looking for a coffee shop(and more) with plenty of space to sit and enjoy your food.

Enchanting little café on the UES. Solid selection of pastries, food and even salads. Standard bill of coffee creations. Pleasant atmosphere with ample seating. A perfect place to grab a boost or to relax for some afternoon reading.

The cutest of cafes on the Upper East! Beanocchio is the perfect, quaint spot for breakfast or lunch. The interior is clean and adorably decorated, while the staff is very accomodating. There is a fair amount of seating. Start your day with their iced coffee. With or without syrup, we agreed that it’s one of the smoothest coffees we’ve had, and at a good price point! Also, be sure to try one of their gourmet muffins — the double chocolate chip was so delicious. Although I can’t speak for it, the salad bar with all of the fixings looks fresh, as do their homemade soups and sandwiches. Will be back for another coffee and sweet fix!

Came here to meet up with a friend on a weekday Pros: — Cute quirky place — loved the Christmas decorations inside; just a really nice place to catch up with a friend(s) because they have small and large tables; great ambiance — Chai Latte was okay($ 4) Cons: — We were sitting in the corner chatting so we didn’t notice the staff cleaning up and closing. I checked the hours before I got there and it was supposed to close at 8PM but by 6PM my friend asked them if they were closing and they said that they were already closed — so that was unfortunate

A lot of seating for a UES coffee place. Better experience than Starbucks, because of the Christmas/holiday theme. We spent $ 12.50 for one iced coffee, small coffee, muffin and bagel w/cc. It is a little noisy. Flavors were mellow house blend coffee and rich oat morning glory muffin

I love this place. My new favorite coffee shop. Skip Starbucks and Dunkin’ Donuts and support your local neighborhood coffee shop and come here. Or If you just need some Christmas cheer this place is a go to.

The salmon pita was great! Nice spot to relax. Mostly tiny tables for 1 or 2 but there is one big table(seats 6ish) in back, looks like some people use it to do work. Spent some time in the park East of here on the river, and had a coffee and snack after. Wonderful!

Visited this cozy coffee shop on a Sunday afternoon looking for coffee and a spot to work. This was perfect, with space to work on the shared table at the back and free wifi. Friendly helpful staff, I had an avocado sandwich and added an egg, it was fresh and delicious. Highly recommend and we will be back.

Horrible… absolutely horrible. $ 45GONEDOWNTHEDRAIN! First time buying from this place. Order a pastrami sandwich, chicken wrap, and turkey Bagel and two coffees. Each one of these items was horrible! –Pastrami Sandwich — Meat was old, stringy, stale. They put spicy mustard(they didn’t even ask if I wanted it mustard on it) –Chicken wrap: Old chicken bathed in Caesar dressing. Absolutely disgusting –Turkey bagel: Bagel was hard as rock. It seams to me that they had old bagels(that were already hard) and toasted it! Coffee– they were not even packed properly, lids were not secured and spilled all over. I know it’s the upper Eastside and food is expensive but please do not sell garbage. I can provide pictures of this crap… Bye the way some of these so «positive’ seam very fishy.

Great big pastries here. Early breakfast on a weekday is very enjoyable and there are plenty of tables. A couple of older ladies frequently sit in the window and gossip, adding to the quaintness of the place. It’s like I’m visiting my grandmother, if my grandmother was an Upper East Side elitist who can afford to go out for breakfast everyday. Kitschy and fantastic.

Very nice atmosphere. Really good food. The salmon pita is really good, even if the pita does get a little burnt in the oven. The muffins are great too. Staff is very nice as well.

Convenient location. Good for coffee and a quick bagel or muffin. They have some egg offerings but I wouldn’t go there. Could be a regular coffee spot for me.

I’ve lived around the corner from this place for 2 years and can’t believe I never stumbled upon it today! Awesome menu, fantastic food, and incredible service. Not much more to say than that. My girlfriend and I both ordered the breakfast burrito(one was vegetarian) while I went with an iced coffee, she had a latte. We enjoyed everything and will likely make this our new go to spot on weekends.

I visited here on a late Sunday afternoon for breakfast. Our stay was brief but just what we needed. Decently priced and offering an extensive menu made this one of the better early morning options around. I opted for the huevos rancheros as I am a junkie for them. I hate to base my review off this one item but it’s really all I had to go off of. To be honest, I would not recommend or order them again. I made this choice based on the cashier’s recommendation which is usually a risk free option. I was wrong however, the store bought tortilla chips were stale and the rest of the dish left a lot to be desired. My wife enjoyed a delicious bagel and with all the options available I would recommended giving those a try. Thanks!

Came here on a recommendation from a friend. He didn’t steer me wrong! Walked in at about 3:45 pm on a Friday afternoon and was lucky to find a cozy corner spot to do some school work. It was packed but cleared out within about an hour or so. No biggie! Coffee is good — they serve café du monde! Can’t go wrong with that at all. I haven’t tried any of the deli stuff or baked goods but they all look so delish! Soon if I make it out here again… If only it were closer to midtown west. By close I’m talking 5 blocks or less… Atmosphere is warm and cozy. Quaint place with the ceiling currently boasting dangling snowflakes. How appropriate! Ridiculous snow fall this season! Five stars because you just don’t get the following conversation at any other coffee shop between two 4 – 5 year olds: «Hello, misterrr.» «Helloo.» “What are you doing hereeee?“ Too cute. Their mothers and the place couldn’t help but laugh. Btw, the $ 5 cc minimum is quite annoying… Especially if I only want coffee and happen to never carry cash! BUT the barista behind the counter was super sweet and allowed me to charge a coffee and an apple, both totaling under $ 5.

Sometimes an informal café does the trick on the weekend instead of a more formal sit down brunch. This is also helpful if your boyfriend doesn’t like breakfast foods(unbelievable, I know!). I had a goat cheese egg-white omelet with the seven-grain toast. Delivious. My bofriend got the chicken with sundried tomato pita, which he enjoyed. TIPS: –They only give one slice of toast(cut in 2 small triangles) with the omelets, so just order an extra for 50 cents. This is America, who gives one slice of toast with an omelet? The toast is delicious though– oats, seed and crannies. –They have complimentary lemon water in the back if you don’t feel like paying for a drink. Although there was Nutella hot chocolate on the menu, which I am dying to try!
