Came in with a group of friends for the«2-for-1» and the drinks were so terrible that we didn’t drink even half of the first round. Server was rude and argumentative the whole time which didn’t make the experience any better. Came in with a slight buzz feeling great, left stone sober bummed out.

I like it! Went there on a Sunday. Staff was friendly and attentive. I didn’t get a chance to drink because I couldn’t drink that day! It was happy hour and they have a great 2 for one drink specials for happy hour as well as a nice pre-fix menu where you can get an appetizer(anti-pasti) and main course for just $ 15 which is unbelievable! I don’t know the manager personally but he seems friendly towards his guests. I ordered a zuppa de giorno(soup of the day) he went crazy and said no because at the time I was getting it, it was not fresh according to him. He is honest and wanted me to eat fresh food from his establishment. I ended up ordering an anti pasti of fried calamari and fried zucchini. It was very fresh and didn’t have too much sodium. Went there yesterday and had some bruschetta antipasto real fresh! Had a strawberry Margarita on the rocks! Bartender be making them strong! I’m thinking about making this my new signature hangout place!

This review is only for drinks… Came on a Monday and they had $ 5 dollar DRINKS and no happy hour restriction??? How great is that. You could get a margarita, mojito, beer, or sangria for five bucks. This is a win in my book since you’ll pay upwards of 15 anywhere else for a mojito !!! The staff was also super friendly and nice, and lots of outdoor seating. I would come back to sit outside for drinks again !

The food is ok. There are better places in the neighborhood. While it is a great location with outside seating the service can be slow and a bit rude.

I knew better than to come here. But their outdoor seating is pretty attractive on a clear, warm Spring evening. Food is really bad, far down the scale of even the most pedestrian Italian restaurants. Example…ordered the olive tapenade crostini, which is hard to screw up even if you’re a novice cook. Olive tapenade is just a relish of chopped olives with stuff like capers, anchovies, garlic, olive oil and maybe some lemon zest if you’re trying to be fancy. We expected something at least a little similar to this on toasted bread. But what we got was dry thin pizza crust topped with a little goat cheese, a pinch of chopped kalamatas, and a mountain of cheap Kraft-quality gooey, oily, toasted mozzarella(pic). I’m sure if I was 10 years old I would’ve loved it. We didn’t finish the app. Just downed our glasses of their budget wine(she had the near-vinegar Montelpuciano and I had the barely chilled Grillo) and asked for the check. Left 20% tip because it wasn’t the servers fault, although I’d prefer I hadn’t seen him sneeze into his hands as were finishing up.

Maybe they were having a bad night but the food in all three dishes was tasteless, the wine we ordered was unavailable and the substitute wine was overheated(hot red wine? It wasn’t mulled wine season) and finally they added an automatic tip to the bill, both illegal and silly. Do yourself a favor and give it a miss.

Came here with a group for dinner on Sunday. Prefix menu was not being served much to our dismay. Drinks were 2for1 because of happy hour but there was very little alcohol in the drinks. The manager was very nice and friendly, and accommodating to our needs. Our original server was a little weird, took one persons order then just walked away etc., but we told the manager and he served us himself for the rest of the meal! Food was good. The fish special at $ 33.95 was fantastic! Overall good medium priced meal location with weird service and weak drinks. But the manager made up for it!

Happy hour is 2×1 but it’s per person so it’s extremely misleading. Don’t fall for it!

My Co-workers and I decided to come here for dinner since there was an offer in Groupon. Our Groupon was about 120 dollars for 4 people. It included 2 appetizers, an entrée for each person, and a glass of wine. We went ahead and ordered Polpette Al Sugo which was the Homemade italian meatballs topped with cheese and tomato sauce and Gamberoni Alla Toscana which was the Grilled jumbo shrimp cannellini beans and arugula for appetizer. For the Entrée we all ordered the Tagliata Di Manzo which was grilled skirt steak, roasted, arugula and truffle oil. The shrimp had a nice flavor and the meatballs were very tender. The grilled steak arrived and it was brought out on a skillet where the waiter would ask for how well you want the steak cooked and then it it would be placed on your plate. Since it was a Friday, it was very packed. Even though it was busy, the waiters were still able to check on us from time to time and refill our waters.

Stumbled across this spot walking Christopher St and saw their sign. 2 for 1 drinks and $ 1 Oysters… no brainer! But then my wonderful server Alexandra recommended the Lamb Chops and the rest was history. One word, amazing! Definitely a must try while in the village. Ask for Alexandra and she’ll take great care of you!

Went there for cozy Italian dinner with a bf on rainy December evening and everything from the get go was a bit strange to put it mildly. At the door of the restaurant, there was another name plate so I wasn’t sure that we were at the right place first but waitress assured us that it was Gallo Nero so we took a step in. I think the restaurant is having an identity crisis. Menu, the name and overall website suggests that it is classic Italian restaurant. Overall décor including old, scratched and very clunky chairs and tables, dirty old tile floors, bare windows suggest that it is a roadside diner. Loud pop and hip hop music, Tv’s with sport channels by the bar area suggests that it is a sports bar. Service was very strange, our hostess was very lovely. But our waiter was«interesting» character. So interesting that I had to call the hostess and ask if this guy was indeed our server and not someone random jobroni messing with us. All waitstaff expect him were wearing black and had aprons while this guy was wearing whatever. He casually strolled up to our table with his two hands in his front pockets and said something in the lines of «so, you guys, whadda ya wanna drink? I will recommend getting a bottle» .Then he was occasionally faking some Italian here and there which amused us since my bf is fluent in Italian. It was way too absurd of a situation to get angry at so I had a good laugh that day. We ordered calamary fritti and crispy zuccini, ossobucco and branzino and a bottle of very nice lambrusco. Food was better than I expected since overall décor and service scared me a little bit. This place has a lot of potential but seems like a totally mismanaged at this point.

The food was really good but what set us off was the service. The server treated us quite differentially — reminding us atleast 3 times that the drinks were cheap(only $ 6) and should be affordable for us. Before we completed our order of appetisers, he simply took all our menus and walked off. We had to literally remind him that we had more than enough financial resources to dine there. We then decided not to stay a minute more. The manager /owner, however, was really friendly and receptive, took our feedback very well and promised to make an improvement.

My friend and i sat at the bar and we had a BLAST! Bler(Blerina) was THEEE best! One of the best bartenders we have ever had. We shared stories and she made the best, most yummiest drinks! She, and amongst others, made my new york trip even more fun. We came for happy hour. Their mojitos are strong and yummy, you wont even know what hit you! The atmsphere is so comforting and happy. Their bruschettas are soo DELICIOUS& oohhhh! The oysters are amazinggg too! Def come check this place out!

We lucked out with parking-and was able to sit at a table with an open door as it was a lovely fall night. The wait staff was very nice, they sort of hovered a lot about the table. The customers were packed in like sardines on small chairs with small eating surfaces. It was a major act of choreography to navigate all of the items on the table. The bread was delicious and so was the Gaelic infused olive oil. The steamed clams were mostly good but several had lots of grit and sand. The Chilean Bass Special was FORTY dollars!!! And it wasn’t remarkable at all. Had I known it was that much I would not of ordered it. The salad with goat cheese was fresh and properly dressed. The pasta with with mushrooms was not well seasoned and the pasta was over cooked. Not sure if I would go go again — the bill was over $ 120 for simple meals and one glass of wine. Just how it is on 7th Ave in the west village.

Ummmmm where do I start? Was hanging out late night and wanted to have some drinks and something good to eat nothing too heavy nor nothing too light … Honestly all of the restaurants around the area suck because there’s a lot of tourists roaming around but what made go in was the bulletin board stating 2 for 1 drink Sangria Mojitos Margaritas Why not??? So we sat down I swear got the funniest waiter in the world who said wow americans? Americans don’t eat here — usually only tourists come in here to eat… Well whatever his name is was right … Americans would only go in for drinks and not for the food as a matter of fact let me rephrase that… New Yorkers wouldn’t eat here… Being that mainly we decided to go in for drinks and nibble on something we ordered the mozzarella and prosciutto arugula w mixed greens salad And a pizza … The salad I can’t lie it was out of this world the balsamic vinegar was great, the mozzarella cheese was fresh it just melted in your mouth like butter… Now the pizza… It explains why everyone left the pizza half eaten and why the waiter questioned us when we said we wanted the pizza… It reminded me of growing up with lunchables… if you’re a 90s kid u know what I’m talking about… The pizza gave domino’s and pizza hut a good reputation… The tomatoes were cut in fours, the olives were just thrown in their, the pepperoni was still cold, the pizza dough tasted like a cracker and no I wasn’t wasted my taste buds don’t lie… ughhhh… I should of listened to the waiter… Anyway we did go in for the drinks and while I can’t say I would go back for the food, I could say I will stop by to get the 2 for 1 drinks and run to another restaurant…

In search of a place for dinner on 7th Ave South, my best friend and I stumbled across the owner of Gallo Nero, promoting heavily outside the restaurant. Outreaching to the public for patrons. We stopped to inquire about drink specials. This restaurant features an outdoor/indoor dining experience, equipped with a bar. Candle lit with European flair. There was a chalkboard sign boasting the 2 For 1 Happy Hour Drink menu and dinner specials. Curious, my BFF pulled me into go after being persuaded by mussels being the main attraction on the specials menu. We were seated near 2 couples sharing happy hour drinks(but NO food). The waitress informed us of the happy hour choices Mojito, Sangria, Manhattans, Cosmos and Margaritas(2 For $ 12). I opted for the Mojito. After ordering, I overheard the couple next to us complaining their sangria was more like fruit punch. My friend sipped her sangria, and requested more liquor. The 2nd round was VERY promising. My 1st mojito was more lime and soda. But the 2nd round… made my vision clearer and the room started to move. The patrons seated next to us were college foodies. A Jersey shore couple who were just there for the happy hour. We decided to order mussels and Gnocchi. The mussels were skimpy and basically just a shell with broth. There could have been better quality and more of a flavorful broth. The Gnocchi is worth the trip. PILLOWSOFT! Fresh sliced garlic in the marinara sauce. Very flavorful. The potato and the pasta come together so well. The soft Italian bread and olive oil make a very good pair. The service here is impeccable. Friendly staff that is knowledgeable. I would not consider this traditional Italian. This place has an interesting twist. Very nice for afterwork drinks or just catching up with a friend. Great vibes all around.

This was a nice restaurant. My husband ordered the special– ‘rib eye.’ It was delicious! It came sizzling and sliced(tender and seasoned). It also had mashed potatoes w/broccoli –yummy. I ordered spinach risotto w/grilled shrimp(yummy). Great 2 for 1 specials. Awesome Long Island & mojito! Plus the beers are really cold, says my husband. Some advice– ask how much the specials cost. We were kinda surprised when our bill arrived.

Was walking thru the West Village during lunchtime. This place caught my eye because they had a nice lunch special. For $ 8.95 you’ll get an appetizer and an entrée so we decided to walk right in!!! As soon as we walked in we heard Italian music blasting. It was actually pretty fun, we were feeling it. Felt like we stepped out of the West Village for a second into Italy. The windows are pretty much non existent during the warmer months so it feels like outdoor seating. Took a seat and felt engaged with the people walking by. To say the least we really liked the set up here. The waitress was very sweet and attentive Apps: Started off with some warm bread with a garlic and oil dip and Caesar Salad. The bread was very soft and the garlic oil was tasty. The salad was very fresh and the Caesar dressing was great. Entrees: I had the penne Vodka which was good and I also tried the Chicken sandwich with fresh mozzarella which was very fresh as well! I really cant complain about one thing here. The food was fresh, service was great and so was the ambience! Will return for lunch again!

One of the more mediocre dinners I’ve had. Came here on Valentine’s Day with a friend after randomly walking around the area, it was snowing so we just went to the closest restaurant we saw. It was fairly busy but we were seated right away. The place itself is packed very tightly, I could barely get through without hitting the person on the next table. Once we sat down the waiter offered us the Valentine’s Day special menu where everything was set already(choose one appetizer, entrée and dessert) so to make life easier we just ordered from there. Appetizers: the lobster bisque, which barely had any lobster in it, tasted like canned tomato soup. It was a no. I only ate it by dipping bread into the soup and eating the bread. The involtini di burrata on the hand was actually pretty good. It was basically big chunks of mozzarella wrapped in roasted veges topped with balsamic and truffle oil. Entrée: I ordered the Chilean sea bass on top of a bed of mashed potatoes. It was nicely cooked but flavor wise it was only okay, the fish wash tender but I would’ve preferred a bit more sauce or salt. My friend ordered the sizzling steak and it came on a hot plate with veges on the side. It smelled and was delicious. We ordered medium and it came perfect. Dessert: There were only 2 choices for the complimentary desserts so we ordered both. The lava cake was delicious; once you cut into it, a warm coating of chocolate oozed out and it was absolutely incredible with the vanilla ice cream on top. The chocolate covered strawberries tasted like what it was, nothing extraordinary but it delivered. Drinks: We ordered a bottle of moscato and they were nice enough to let us try it first to make sure it was what we wanted. The service was a mix of staff just doing their jobs and one incredibly happy man. He went around tables asking if everything was okay with the biggest smile on his face, I’m assuming he’s the manager or boss of some sort. When our appetizers came, they switched our order with the table next to us and it was just awkwardness because we both just stared at our plates thinking«is this what we ordered?» The table next to us said the same thing and we both looked over and asked what they ordered and realized they placed it on the wrong table. Thank god both our tables didn’t touch our plates so we just switched it ourselves because we didn’t really mind. Everything was average enough to be considered an okay meal but I don’t know if I’ll be coming back again unless I’m in the area.
