Unfortunately I shop here more than I’d like due to it’s convenient location and late hours but I really try to around gristedes as much as possible. When I first moved to NY I lived right across the street and wound up doing most of my shopping here and figured this was the NYC standard and places like gourmet garage and whole foods would be much more pricey. Honestly I was surprised to see that I wound up spending basically the same amount at Gourmet Garage and was getting much better quality products, especially produce. I have seen so many expired products on the shelves here, every time I have bought a bakery item it has been stale and honestly the store is FREEZING. I know Grocery stores are supposed to be cold, but this place takes it to a whole new level. The poor employees are always wearing hats and even sometimes gloves. Basically this store has cheap and poor quality brands for above average prices. NEVERBUYANYTHINGSHOPRITEBRAND. Only positive is there are a handful of really friendly baggers and the convenient location.

Convenience is definitely the one thing going for this place. A handy location for Village dwellers. But the store always feels tired and understocked, prices are inexplicably high, and they carry weird brands in many instances. If you score the occasional deal with their customer card, your grocery bill might come out seeming normal. Otherwise, steel yourself for ka-ching. The folks behind the registers are friendly though, which helps lessen the blow of your bill!

Ouch, find another place! Dirty, smelly grocery store. I only come here once in a while because of the location. But really, consider other options. Morton Williams — or even better, go to Trader Joe’s.

Worst supermarket in the area. Total ripoff. I want to thank them for showing me the first $ 9+ box of cereal I have ever seen. Moron Williams Supermarket on Bleecker is much better.

Run and hide! This is NOT a joke! This is quite possibly the worst grocery sore ever! Only buy closed, boxed items. Produce is left moldy on shelves for days. Milk and cheese is left spoiled on shelves for days. The place is also dirty and filled with cartons frequently. RUN

I only come here for canned and dried goods. It’s really best to avoid this mostly grotesque store if you’re looking for produce or meat. I would never buy meat here, actually. It’s old school grocery shopping and they need to evolve a bit to keep up with the influx of better options in NYC. If they weren’t so close, I’d never go here! I once saw Sarah Jessica Parker in the frozen section looking for something for her kids, I’m guessing. I had long dreamt about running into the old Sex and the City broads in fabulous NYC settings, not in a dump like this. Oh well. The movies were shitty, so it’s kind of fitting I suppose.

The prices are very high here, and it’s not very clean. Not happy with it.

Ugh. I always feel dirty when I go in here. The produce looks a day away from rotting. The prepared food it disgusting and the staff rude. Why bother?

Yeah, it’s just a neighborhood supermarket. But, I’m glad that it’s my neighborhood supermarket. The prices are pretty great, and this branch has a really impressive selection of Amy’s frozen foods, and a better range of soymilks at better prices than the natural foods market a few blocks away. The produce is not terribly lustrous, but they have organics on occasion. Once you master the somewhat hilariously mind-game-intensive labyrinth of a layout, this is a solid place to get your foodstuffs.
