$ 11.00 for two slices of pizza. Is that a joke? I walked out as soon as they told me that.

No exaggeration: my favorite place to order from in all of NYC. Amazing baked ziti(I add meat sauce) amazing chicken parm, amazing calamari. I know it’s not healthy, but it is hands down my favorite calorie fest. There is SOMUCH pizza and Italian grub in NY. So many amazing eateries for foodies, place doling out burrata, prosciutto-melon etc… Sometimes you just want no frills red sauce delivery. This place is the penultimate.

Famous Rays… home of the famous $ 3 regular slice??? Yikes. Thank goodness I was really hungry and the slice was good enough that it hit the spot. This was the closest spot and i had an event to go to which was right around the block. Very nice people worked in there. Would have given it 2 stars but the pizza was good. Still cant get over the price though.

After a disappointing lunch next door to this place I had to go in and get a slice of pizza. It was all I wanted. Hot, cheesy with ricotta cheese all over it. Yum! Not the most romantic place or nicest ambiance but I ordered to go so I didn’t really care about that.

Still the best, I’ve lived nearby here for 10+ years and the good people here still turn out the best pizza — using quality ingredients makes all the difference(«don’t be fooled by cheap imitations») — THIS place is Excellent!

Fairly typical(which means good) pizza. The couple of times that I’ve been to NY, I’ve probably eaten a half dozen slices here(and at other locations) just because I walked by and smelled the pizza and decided I needed some. Not mind-blowing, but solid. It’s amazing how many people can’t seem to get pizza right.

I personally think it’s the best pizza in my neighborhood. The slices are big, not too much sauce and a nice amount of cheese. I’ve been going here since I was a kid, so I guess I’m a little biased lol

I originally had positive things to say about Rays Original Pizza before this delivery experience. I ordered HALF pepperoni and was given a full pie of pepperoni, the delivery took an hour, and I had to have 4 separate phone calls with the delivery man. The pizza also was not great at all, and not because the whole experience was tainted. I would only recommend this place upon disparity.

Ripoff. $ 6.25 for a single slice of pizza. They claimed it was«special» pizza. Sure, I guess pepperoni and cheese is special. And it wasn’t that good. Bland pepperoni meat, chewy crust. Tasted a bit old.

If you want a large space to hang outin, watch a tv, sit in glaring light, and kill time this is the place. Their menu is tired, and pizza is thick and tough. They could use a room and menu make over. Their pizza is ok, it just seems that they’ve been doing the same thing for a decade.

I’m giving them 1 star because that’s the lowest I can go. Walked in while really hungry and still the pizza we got didn’t taste good. Everything looked so old. I almost left but my husband was really hungry and didn’t want to look for another pizza place. I asked the owner if pizzas are from today and he said” no, they’re from yesterday” I didn’t think he was lying. I believe pizzas were from the day before. He continued: «this is New York City. You have to be honest» I couldn’t tell if he was joking or being serious. This place is not worth the calories you consume here!

Have you come here to forgive Ray Have you come to Ray’s the dead Have you come here to Ray Jesus To the Rays in your head One Ray’s We get to share it It’s hard to eat baby If you don’t fold it So clearly Bono loves this pizza, but as for me, I think it’s just good, not great. I’ve eaten at about 3 or 4 different Ray’s, and it was the same story each time. People say it’s a «mom and pop» place but it’s got to be a franchise, because all of them have the same décor, same style pizza, same name… you get the idea. In any case, it’s a typical NY slice but not a great one. For great ones on Manhattan Island, try Bleecker St Pizza or Prince St Pizza. In Brooklyn get Louie’s «White Pizza» on 5th Ave, and in Queens get Sunnyside Pizza’s «Garlic Bread Pizza» on Queens Blvd. In The Bronx it’s Louie & Ernie’s sausage slice. So if you want a touristy slice, I’d say Ray’s on 9th is the best of the touristy slices. But you’d be better off going to my recs above. And only go here in bright sunlight. So that after the pizza, you can bask in some golden Ray’s.

My annual New York trip always has to include, Famous Original Ray’s Pizza. Being from Chicago, I must say that pizza anywhere else has always been disappointing. There are so many Ray’s pizza restaurants, so make sure it says Fanous Original Ray’s Pizza. However, this place now is my favorite pizza place in New York. The first time I stepped into this pizza place, the owner says, «where are you from you have such an accent»?. I said Chicago,(man I shouldnt have said that lol), he made a public announcement, we got a Chicagoan in the building. This slice is on me, but I need you to be honest, and tell me what you think. I took a bite of the thin pizza and loved it. Then he asks, is it better than Chicago? I said as far as thin crust, I would say its up there. He said ohhhhhh come on say it, the crowd starts chanting for me to «say it». Peer pressure ;) I surrender and say it is. Altho, I have never tasted a thin crust with such a crispy juicy garlic-y crunch to it. It was good. Better than chicago, not quite but it would give it some serious competition. When I go to New York, I come back here. I always bring home a whole«pie» as they say. This location, is near broadway and a few walking blocks from Times Square. PARKING is a nightmare, so dont bother even driving here. It will be PACKED if you go during the daytime and around 5pm, after about 9pm weekdays it winds down. Cash n credit cards are accepted. There is a small dining spot but mostly people pickup to go. The place is clean when I have been there. The guys working are friendly and you get your slice of pie quickly.

Love love love Ray’s Pizza. Honestly, I don’t know what they put in their recipe but this pizza is addictive. Fav spot while in NYC!

Best slice of pie you can get for the price. One slice is more than enough to fill you up! Every time I travel to NYC it’s a must detour and take a few pies home!

Their pizza isn’t really spectacular, just decent. I’ve been to Ray’s about 4 times usually after a night of partying. I’ve had delicious NYC pizza from other places. I like my pizza cheesy and Rays just doesn’t deliver on delicious cheesy pizzas. Also their bathroom is so disgusting I’m afraid to pee there.

I am a huge fan of pizza, and I always look to go to Ray’s pizza when I’m in New York City. Luckily, this restaurant was just around the corner from the hotel. We came around lunchtime, and it wasn’t very busy so we we’re attended to right away. It was also easy for us to get a table. There are only a few tables available in the back, and they didn’t seem to clean to me. However, I made do because the food was delicious! Like most pizza spots in the city, they have pizza pies available for you to choose from, and they put your pizza in the oven for you. My boyfriend and I were particularly hungry that day, so we ordered a buffalo chicken slice with broccoli, a margherita slice, and garlic knots. You definitely get the bang for you buck at Ray’s(I can’t remember how much our meal was, but it was under $ 15 including drinks). Our food was ready fairly quickly. The garlic knots were good, but nothing spectacular about it. However, both slices of pizza were to die for! The ingredients were so fresh and the pairings were perfect. The service was pretty typical for your New York pizza place, but I didn’t have anything to complain about.

We were in the area for an art exhibition, and while walking back to the subway from the gallery, my wife decided she wanted a slice. We saw Ray’s nearby and decided to give it a try. I ordered a Margherita slice, my wife, a Pepperoni. Both of them were partially pre-baked and displayed in a glass case. I didn’t expect much from something that was pre-baked god-knows-when and then finished when ordered, but I was pleasantly surprised. The crust was a little crispier than I’d expect from NY-style pizza, as it prevented it from being folded, but it was tasty and enjoyable nonetheless. In short, if I found myself in the area and was craving a slice again, I’d go back to Ray’s. I don’t know if I’d make a special trip.
