The pizza here is good, however it’s really frustrating that they won’t make ANY substitutions. You can only select from the few pies that they’ve created and there aren’t many options if you don’t eat meat. No liquor, which is annoying as all hell. And lastly the service is a little bit aloof/rude and just plain absentminded. I’ve been here a few times and each time I have left feeling frustrated and ripped off. Sorry but I can’t recommend it. Check out Ovest instead.

I LOVED this Pizza! We had the Popeye, the meatball, the Margarita and Shiitake. We will be back!

Solid lunch w/Thomas, didn’t have the pizza but got the Ribollita soup(Old Tuscan Soup with prosciutto, bread, cannellini beans, carrots, cabbage, Lacinato kale, and different kinds of veggies) and salad special. Really light lunch but solid flavor.

Shame they don’t keep the hours they post nor the hours on their voicemail. Arrived one hour before closing with the oven off and cleaned. With so many other great places in the city, don’t go out of your way.

If you like thin crust pizza and you’re nearby then it’s worth the stop. The staff is amazingly nice. The cost is too high, at $ 17 per 4 slice pizza, even for New York. I think 4 people should order 3 pizzas based on size. The pizza was very good, but I think there’s room for more adventure in flavor. Overall, I liked the casual atmosphere and the staff.

The pizza here is pretty uninspiring. It feels like a pizza place for people that are ashamed to like pizza. If the word«Artisinal» makes your mouth water, then Co. is for you, but if you’re a taste-first, atmosphere-second kind of person, the pizza fails to deliver. There’s not a lot of bite to the crust or flavor to the sauce and too much moderation in the toppings. This is a fancy pizza place for fancy people. It’s not bad, it’s just not worth going to if you love pizza.

Great for lunch, since the gallerinas and gallerists are far too busy to walk a block to eat some of the finest pizza in New York. The salads are inventive and fresh. The sodas are original and homemade. The carrot cake alone defies description, it is so good. They even have good coffee, which is increasingly hard to find in Chelsea. They have turned down the music, and you can now fine without a din. Almost 5 It really is great.

Awesome place with delicious food. Went there to celebrate a special occasion and they treated us very well. Pizza is tops and really unique. I recommend the quail egg and pea & prosciutto. Eggplant bread and asparagus salad so good too!

Pizzas are thin and crispy, yet a bit burnt. Maybe this is how it is supposed to be, but makes them taste bitter. Great ambiance, but super slow servers. Not attentive to customer requests. It took me at least 10 min waving at them before I got their attention.

A must visit joint in NYC for a good Napoletana slice. Ordered their popular pies — mushroom and Popeye. Would definitely recommend these for folks who prefer a non red base. Full marks to the crust and ingredients. The mushroom pizza was incredible even for me as non mushroom enthusiast, must have for shroomheads. The popeye though great pales in comaprison, however is a lot of fresh and lightly cooked spinach. Loved the communal seating and ambiance. My big complaint here is the wine selection. Their reds are a shame given their appeal overall and prices. Better improve their wines or face the wrath of the Highline NYC peeps visiting this joint !

Always looking for interesting spots in my hood(chelsea) so checked it out. We had to wait for our table and the hostess was great and nice — waiter was a bit difficult to understand and snappy but overall good experience. Salad and cheese pizza were great — cheese pizza way tastier than the Popeyes pizza and worth the extra calories! Good place to meet a friend to catch up — cozy and intimate environment without romance or pomp.

This review is for the 3 types of pizzas we tried at Co.‘s. Our table ordered the Shiitake, Popeye and Meatball and I was pleasantly surprised at how much I loved them. The Shiitake pizza stood out to me because of the unique flavor and for a mushroom lover, I find the taste to be most excellent but if you’re not a huge fan of mushrooms then I would advise you to stay away and maybe pick the Popeye instead. What I love most about the pizzas here is that the crust is thin and almost crunchy. It feels like a lighter option for pizzas and definitely fancier than most in presentation. We shared 3 pizzas between 6 and it was the right amount for us. I would come back again and try their other toppings the next time I’m in town.

Damn, Jim Lahey is responsible for some excellent pies. Loved the ambiance, even the corny fire projected on the back wall. Our Italiana and nduja(brunch) pies were superb. With such a name, it’s useless to search Unilocal for it, so just google it(it’s pronounced Company and aka Co Pane)(reservation link on FB broken, odd that it’s there at all w/rezzies only for 6+”)

As soon as I walked in and saw the real wood burning oven on the wall, I was sold. Even though it was really a projector on the wall. They encourage you to order family style, so make sure to come with relatives otherwise that’s not allowed. We got four pies to share: the meatball, a sausage one that no I won’t try to spell, the mushroom one, and a seasonal special(prosciutto and peaches). In order, they went sausage, mushroom, meatball, P&P, but the range was 9 to 7 — all really good! The pizzas are each personal pies and are pretty pricey as a result, but they’re all delicious. The meatball pie is basically a cheese pie with one meatball on each slice. If you ask, they’ll cut each pie into 6 slices instead of the usual 4!

To be fair I would probably give this two stars for the food, but the poor service brought my rating down to 1. Waitress needed to be flagged down to take our order and the place wasn’t packed at all. Just know this place won’t wow you. If you’re stuck in a pickle and are craving pizza this could satiate but otherwise not really worth it. Ordered the cannelloni bean crostini. The anchovy taste was pretty prominent though and it is mixed in. We also ordered the salad with artichoke hearts topped with parmesan cheese, as well as the meatball pie. Salad was ok and the pizza tasted good but was undercooked in the middle. We need a better pizza place on the neighborhood!

First and foremost, very helpful and accommodating staff, especially given that one of our large group had limited mobility — many thanks for arranging suitable seating. The place was bustling, even on a Sunday evening which looked encouraging. When ordering drinks, we were advised by the waiter to choose the flagons of ale to share as it would work out a bit cheaper than us all buying separate drinks. The beers were very good. For my meal I ordered their Meatball pie/pizza which came with tomato, mozzarella, veal meatballs, caramelised onions, olives, pecorino and oregano. It was alright, but not amazing. Dessert for me was Coconut Layer Cake — again it was fine, a hearty portion but nothing to make you crave another serving.

Obsessed! I’m a long time fan of all of Jim Lahey’s work, and have been coming to Co. for a while. Now that the weather is a bit nicer there is nothing better than sitting outside with something seasonal(my recent prosciutto-pea-mint pie was exceptional) and a glass of rose. Expect to see me there all. the. time. Plus they accept Cover, which is great for when I’m on the go!

I really enjoyed this place. Came here with a group of friends on a Saturday for lunch. We showed up around 12:30pm and there was no wait. We split the Pizza Bianca(with ricotta on the side) as an appetizer and it was tasty! It was pretty much dough-y bread with olive oil and salt. That’s not to say it wasn’t good — I really liked it. We split three pies: the mushroom and jalapeño, the cauliflower, and the Florentine(from the brunch menu). The mushroom and jalapeño was my favorite but all choices were pretty darn tasty and unique. For dessert my husband and I split the toffee cake with ice cream and our friends split the banoffee. The toffee cake was excellent and I think they enjoyed the banoffee because disappeared pretty quickly. Great food, great service, excellent place.

INSHORT: With less than traditional pies that don’t bear the mark of old-school authenticity and excellence, Co. has nonetheless managed to insert itself boldly into New York’s eternal pizza war. While they don’t take reservations, the service is so exceptional to any visitor that it’s always worth the wait next to the crowded hostess podium. THESTORY: Just as one would expect, the centerpiece of each Co. pizza is the bread, kneaded deeply into Sullivan St. Bakery’s history of artisan dough. While the edges are often uneven and can’t be characterized as truly traditional, owner Jim Lahey seems to embrace that kind of rebellion, obsessed with the way his crust and its balance of burnt blisters and puffy centers can still taste perfect, despite their unevenness. Yet the one fault with Co. lies in the lack of attention given to the pizza’s many toppings, which crave the same amount of devotion as the bread they rest upon. The Popeye pizza with pecorino, gruyère, mozzarella, spinach, black pepper, and garlic, though, is still one of the best on the menu. The spinach here seems to actually have been given a little thought, and is texturally remarkable and still full of flavor without any bitterness. The Mushroom & Jalapeño pie with bechamel, pecorino, gruyère, garlic, dill, and 3 breeds of mushroom was also a winning combination, though some of the mushrooms cried out for a little more coaxing of earthy flavor. Yet at the end of the day, the host who will thank you by name as you depart, along with the warm, wood décor and the long communal tables that frame this new, trendy«artisan» pie will satisfy every New Yorker’s craving for good pizza in a full restaurant setting.
