The pork chop was very good. Not dry very juicy and favor. The salmon fire rice was good too.

This place illustrates why the«pan-Asian» category can often be a bust. Pretentious environs, cleaner presentation, smaller portions, less of the flavors you want, more of the flavors that bore. And so on. Also, everything expensive as F. Four dumplings and five shrimp cost like $ 54 here since the rich company around you will be ordering every mediocre appetizer and small plate and eating at triple speed while talking about other restaurants. The $ 10 tea saucer sized plate of Spicy Cold Sesame Noodles that you order even after the waitstaff asks if «that’s it,» tastes like pasta you put in your fridge, took out, then smeared some peanut butter on — chill, but not something you went to an overpriced restaurant at the dreaded Meatpacking District to get. In fact, they completely forgot the order, seemed not a smidge apologetic(«I mean… we’re REALLY busy») after an hour had passed. Then, one of the servers chased our party of 8 or so outside to wonder why we hadn’t tipped at least 20%(we must have tipped 19.95%, though, because I was the only pauper present). Baffled on many levels, my normally softspoken friend was provoked into growling, «To be honest, you completely forgot two of our orders, and when one of them came, and it was wrong… so…THAT’s why, if you’re counting.» And I, for once, was the one who was speechless. If you step over the threshold of this establishment, stick to the bar, which is the competent and segment of the operation. For example, the $ 14 Thai Boxer(Cruzan Vanilla Rum, Cinnamon Infused Rum, Coconut Milk, Thai Basil, Ginger Beer) is something I remember after two years and would actually return to taste. The competent bartender who whipped it up was the final factor balancing out my opinion to this mild three star rating.

I would really love to come back. Came here with 3 friends. Reviews were good, and we all loved Thai/Aian-fusion, so this seemed like a good bet. It certainly was. We each got a main, and were amazed at how delicious they were. Not too expensive either. I would love to come back and order just about everything on the menu.

This is a great little gem — we shared a number of dishes at our table(you should do this). We were debating the lamb dumplings — the server said we should get them — and if they had a Nobel Prize for great ordering suggestions, I would nominate her. Order the lamb dumplings! We also had the pea tendrils on special(we gobbled them up and ordered another — they should add these to the regular menu). The chicken curry was so delicious, as was the chicken drunken noodle. I don’t even know how to explain how amazing these dishes were. Yum. The salt and pepper shrimp was really excellent too– although how do you go wrong frying shrimp? For desert we shared the coconut flan. Hoo boy. I am pretty sure my feelings for that coconut flan are illegal. Even in Chelsea. Good Lord! Eat here. You will thank me.

Went to this place for lunch with couple of friends. My experience was okay. their service was not great although the waitress was sweet. We ordered 2 appetizers and 3 entrees. 1 entrée came before the appetizers and my entrée came after we finished our appetizers and my friends were half way through their main course. Their 3 cups chicken had more ginger than chicken and was salty. Papaya salad was blah. Pork Belly was yummy per my friend! Pepper Shrimp was a bit salty although we didn’t mind. Eggplant dish stole the show. it was by far the best. The place is cute, very minimal in design. I would probably give it another try but not sure. For the price they should do much better. I would go to Little Basil over this any day!

This place serves incredible mouth-gasms. Our three entrees were amazing(Thai BBQ Flank Steak, Green Curry Shrimp Fried Rice — which btw is probably too spicy for most people), and the pork fried dumplings. Highly recommend if you’re in the area!

I work nearby and hear of people ordering here often so I decided to try. I got the drunken noodles… They tasted good and they made it quickly, but honestly hardly any chicken at all and generally pretty disappointed with the very small portion for a dish I paid $ 15 for. It looks like a side! V sad.

Best Thai I’ve had since arriving from Los Angeles 3 years ago. Delicious and healthy! So happy I finally found this. Summer rolls with Tofu and Avocado and Vegetarian Panang… yum. and inexpensive. Thank you!

Avoid any Tai food in this store. I am no expert on cooking but I can cook far more better on my first try than what I eat here(which by no ways called above average). I think probably the store changed the owner recently, otherwise it is impossible this store is rated over 2 star.

Excellent chinese/pan Asian restaurant. Unlike many pan-Asian restaurants, however, it’s not overly cliché or exceptionally Americanized. Each dish is authentic and you will find items on here seldom seen outside of China or their respective home countries(the menu features authentic dishes from China and various countries of Southeast Asia). Cocktails are well crafted and complement the food well. Great cozy-but-modern ambiance. A neighborhood gem in the otherwise relative dead zone of 10th ave in Chelsea. It’s worth noting that the restaurant has a relatively small menu that changes frequently.

I was passing by with my husband and saw this place, so we decided to have dinner here as we both love Thai food. Place was crowded and we didn’t had reservation but in few minutes we were seated. Menu was simple and easy to make choice as normally some restaurant have books for menu and it takes forever to decide what to order. Food was tasty, quantity was decent and price was average. Overall good food with service.

We came here on a coworker’s recommendation. It was pretty decent Chinese food. Although at $ 10-or-something for an appetizer with four dumplings, it’s definitely targeted for the western crowd.

Came here as a part of a work dinner on a Monday evening. The place was COMPLETELY empty, and I mean utterly empty… at 7PM. Thought that was kind of odd. The menu had a couple of interesting dishes on it, and then the standard ones(summer rolls, pad thai, drunken noodles, etc.). The table shared some appetizers to start, like the summer rolls and dumplings, and then I tried the chicken drunken noodles. Something about the taste of the noodles was just… off. So many tomatoes, and the chicken texture was just weird and almost shredded and piecey and not cooked well… there were literally thin strips just hanging around my noodle dish. Odd. Service was good, and prices weren’t too bad either. However, the taste of the dishes just doesn’t match up. Overall, not a place I’d come back to.

I ordered the Chicken Pad Thai. First they got the order wrong and gave me shrimp pad thai, then they fixed it. However, it arrived with old, dry chicken instead. tasted like it was leftover from making broth. I think it’s completely unreasonable to serve old, used up meat when people are paying good money to eat at their establishment.

Great service and tasty Thai food. We came for a late dinner after a night at the theater. Get there before 10:30p or you won’t get in. We had the spicy noodles with chicken and it was spicy deliciousness! I had the hot tea and my girlfriend had a glass of red wine. We left feeling satisfied and will definitely come back to try more dishes.

This has easily become one of my favorite spots in the city. A friend brought me here for dinner once, and since then I’ve been suggesting Chop Shop as the place to grab dinner. The ambiance here is really nice, whether you’re there with a small group or with one other person. I personally enjoy coming here with a friend, date, gf, bf, as it’s an intimate place where you can have a solid conversation — this can depend on who you choose to bring of course. Things I enjoy: — cocktails are really good(I go with the bourbon special, but my gf really enjoys the gin) — Salt and Pepper shrimp(app) — pork belly bun(app) — drunken noodles(ent) — short ribs(ent) — pork chop(ent) I’ve never had to make a reservation here and have been fortunate enough to always get a seat. Also, now that it’s warm out, they’ve opened the back patio(w. covering).

After passing this place maybe 200 times(twice a week x 52 weeks x 2 years), I finally went in this past weekend. Being sick and therefore not wanting to going all the way to C-town, I figure why not give this a try?! The verdict is GOOD, so I’m a little surprised by the reviews. My husband and I shared the sausage and egg fried rice. He got the Orange beef; I had the curry with vegetable which I loved. We got desserts — gelato was unexpectedly good… Yes because you expect to find good gelato at an Italian restaurant… Nice surprise! Look, if you’re looking for a big bowl of noodles or fried rice for $ 5 — 8, sorry, you would have to try a food truck or C-town or Flushing. But if you want good tasting Asian food, reasonably priced in a nice setting, Chop Shop is a good option for sure.

One part affordable neighborhood Chinese spot, one part chic eatery, many parts a good time. We came here for a double date and I thoroughly enjoyed the evening. The summer roll with peanut dipping sauce and salmon fried rice I ordered were delicious, and the dimly-lit atmosphere lent itself to good conversation.

I came here with Boo Boo after walking the Highline on a nice Saturday. We built up an appetite and Unilocal had a lot of good reviews for here. Sadly, Unilocal didn’t help us. The food was a big letdown. We were able to sit at back ‘outdoor’ room. Sitting in the back is really quiet. I was over hearing the conversation from the couple 2 tables away from us. We ordered the bun since everyone was raving about it. And from my pic it was very sad and disappointing. At $ 4 each I wanted to more. Not because it was tasty but I expected more of it. The bun was cold so it made the filling inside cold faster. $ 4 for 2 bites is not really worth unless it’s really tasty. My gf ordered a spicy shrimp chow fun noodles. And I got the braised short ribs with radish. The chow fun sauce tasted like watered down shiracha. And my braised short rib lacked salt was not tender enough to get the melted collagen texture. We also shared the snow pea veggie stir fry. We both enjoyed that dish the best because it was flavor stuff and had a fresher taste compared to out entrees. This place might be good to come for drinks and chit chat but I would not come here for the food. This place needs to replace the old tired Chinese cooks with a ‘rock star’ chef. We should have taken the train downtown for a more complete meal. We walked down 6 blocks to Artichoke pizza and shared a $ 5 pizza slice to finish our meal and then walked but uptown to the Bus terminal.
