Lamb chops are an absolute standout. Brussel sprouts are good — but nothing special.

I have frequently eaten at zemi, the service is absolutely horrible im not sure were to begin. The manager is absolutely rude and the staff exhibits the same attitude. A group of us went for happy, our drinks were terrible the manager gave us the worse attitude ever. Needless to say I will spend my money elsewhere.

Crab Rangoons $ 8 not traditional and not the best I’ve had but 5pcs for. $ 8 is kind ridiculous Peeking duck wraps — $ 9 small portion again but these were pretty tasty, would have loved some crispy skin though Sesame chicken — no crispy crunch and thick yummy sauce, it’s soft and honey like

My relationship with Zemi started over lent when I needed some creative seafood options to try. As a cozy neighborhood spot I strolled on in one day and got the Coconut Butterfly Shrimp and the fish and chips. From that day on I got hooked to their Coconut Butterfly Shrimp. I chose white rice instead of fries or mash potatoes. Everything about it was right. The shrimp were encrusted in the coconut flavor perfectly and they were not too crispy or dry, just right. How can I forget the tartar sauce. Now this is some homemade stuff and fresh out of the kitchen too, not coming in a plastic package like BBQ’s does. I love their tartar sauce to the point that I always have to order extra. You must be wondering have I tried anything else from Zemi? The answer is Yes. I have had their Chicken Pad Thai, Beef Fried Rice, Pan Roasted Flounder with French Fries and their Buffalo Wings. –The Fried rice was good without the beef. I did not like the texture of the beef. –The Wings were A-ok. –The Flounder was a solid option as well –The Traditional Pad Thai was good but not my favorite. It is obvious that the Coconut Butterfly Shrimp is what I recommend, hands down!

Just had my boyfriend call to order me food, and was on the receiving end of a nasty host. The card for some reason did not go through and my bf was given a nasty attitude instead of just asking for a different form of payment. Then when we asked for just a moment to get the other card out he was told that he couldn’t put us on hold, and that the other phone was ringing and hung up on us. Called back 2 minutes later gave them the card number and that was that. Food is ok. I really like the wings which is why i called back. But other wise very rude staff.

Had a drink here before dinner… it was alright although the bartender was a little rude. I asked if they had redd’s apple ale before reading the menu and the bartender rudely asked me «what’s that??» Seriously honey don’t be snide it’s not gonna get you a nice tip. Since they only served beer on their menu and it wasn’t a wide selection, I got a cocktail instead… emperor’s tea or something like that. It tasted like a mojito, it even had mint… just renamed. Not going to get a drink in this place again. I don’t know why it’s gotten good reviews.

I came here for the lunch special and I was satisfied. The food was decent and there were vegetarian options. There were many people eating solo so I did not feel lonely.

Sat down here with friends after reading their chalkboard sign for the $ 5 drinks during happy hour… but take my word for it, the drinks were wack, and not worth the $ 2 I saved by not going to another spot. I’m pretty cheap too, so this says a lot. ALTERNATIVESPOT: If you’re in the area treat yourself to a much better cocktail at Tipsy Parson. It’s one block north and kicks ass. In the summer they have vodka-infused watermelon with chili-pepper sprinkled on top. Unbelievable.

I am perplexed as to why this place has gotten such good reviews. My mixed drinks were pretty poorly made… it’s as if the bartender never really learned how to actually make a drink.(Sorry, but it’s true. He dumped a bunch of that fake lemon flavoring into one of my drinks that didn’t call for it. Gross!) I guzzled the drink down quickly so that I could feel a buzz and forget about how badly the drink was made. The scallion pancakes were decent, but this place is definitely nothing to write home about. I understand the allure of cheap drinks, but there are so many other places in the neighborhood where you can find these!

I love a few things about this place… –Awesome happy hour –Schizophrenic menu, but enough to please everyone –Great people and(oddly) dog watching — Best bartender ever! Shes not a mixologist, shes a bartender, who will do anything you ask, with a smile, and limitless patience. Always a go to.

I guess if you have hamburgers and General Tsao’s chicken on the same menu you can call it «Asian fusion.» This place is more like a bar with tons of decent bar food. Don’t get your expectations too high. Order a stiff drink or four with your meal.

I really like this Asian Fusion spot. It has a nice vibe. Actually, I wouldn’t mind having a nice romantic date at this restaurant. So I give Zemi, 5 stars for atmosphere and excellent customer service. The waiter brought my girlfriend pad Thai with eggs(no good since she’s vegan) however they warmly took it back and made her a fresh dish. I loved my honey glaze salmon with string beans. I must say that it was the best string beans I ever had in my life. It had flavor and it was crunchy(not over cooked). The salmon was good but I’ve had better. This spot makes my list for special occasion. May I add that I went on a fabulous night — Fashion Night Out and it was extra swanky. Finally if you want to experience mega Feng Shui then check out the restroom. I could wash my hands a million times with the awesome sink.

This Chelsea spot has great happy hour specials, but I wouldn’t try to eat any food here. I had the steak salad and edamame dumplings and they weren’t very good. I’d recommend just sitting at the bar and getting drinks here because the service isn’t all that good either.

We were lured in by the chalkboard outside: «Happy hour till 10pm!» The drinks were pretty standard dive bar fare, but $ 5. wasn’t a bad deal for a «Georgia Peach»(aka, a ‘Hairy Navel’ by a more-appealing name) and a margarita. Nothing special, but drinkable. Got an order each of veggie spring rolls and butternut squash spring rolls, which were actually pretty good. That ‘actually,’ along with its implied note of surprise, is because this place has one of the most peculiar menus I’ve ever seen. It’s mainly Asian — with a mix of Thai & Chinese dishes, but it also has American bar standards, diner classics, and a few Italian, Mexican and even Indian notes.(fish & chips, meatloaf, Tuscan vegetables, nachos, etc.) At 10pm, the place was pretty mellow and relaxed — just a few tourists at the bar, and a Chelsea denizen at a table, aside from us. It was a nice alternative to the crazy-noisy-jam-packed places a few blocks down in the meat packing district.

Zemi’s is a nice small restaurant that offers a great lunch special. $ 8 bucks for a pre fixe meal which includes an appetizer and a entrée selection. The place has a full bar and small outdoor seating option. I’ve eaten hear twice so far and been satisfied with my meals. Although I do wish if they can increase they rice portion beyond its one scoop. Also Zemi boast a nice little happy hour selection of $ 5 drinks from 7−10pm. I haven’t taken advantage their happy hour yet. But I have ordered myself a frozen Passion Fruit margarita with my meal. I’m not a fan of the Passion Fruit margarita flavor. I would advise not to select it. It tasted like a watered down flavored of something NOT passion fruit. The service here is so –so. Its environment is more of a laid back chilled, we’ll get to you when we can or track us down when you need something kind of service. But they are nice. Overall Zemi’s is a gem of a lunch spot, not to be miss.

An Asian gastropub? Well, there’s a bar and the layout is that of a gastropub and the staff and menu is distinctly Asian. So I guess it is. A large group of us came here after a volleyball tournament to celebrate and commiserate, depending on which team you were on. My first Bloody Mary was watery and the bartender ran to our table to stick a forgotten stalk of celery in it, but the second one was thick, spicy, and delicious. The Chicken Dumplings were alright — steamed and served with a side of too-salty brown sauce. The Beef Satay, however, was probably more chewey than the cheweyest piece of beef jerky I’ve ever had. I started to wonder if my dentist had openings next week. Needless to say, my food and drink experience here was subpar but my friends seem to really enjoy coming here, so I might come back cuz I’m such a good friend.

Serious props for being affordable, attractive, and cozy, and having some killer happy hour specials, including 7 – 10 pm every night(though sadly I couldn’t enjoy any of these). The Asian fusion menu is generous on options and prices. You probably won’t go wrong with anything on the menu. I had the Mongolian beef, which was a good balance between tender and leathery. The wine list is very inexpensive, consistent with Asian restaurants’ unheralded tradition of not ripping people off on booze. Highly recommended. Hope this place survives.

— The Pad Thai(esp shrimp or tofu) — best I’ve had in Manhattan. — Tuscan Grilled Veggie platter with born rice — healthy and unique — Moo Shoo Chicken — unbearably tasty and a huge portion — Cobb Salad — cleanly and generously executed — Baby back ribs — utterly scrumptious and stops me becoming vegetarian – all around 10 bucks or less Also… — Braised Duck($ 16 but so worth it — they do it themselves, not Chinatown) — Stir Fry Ginger Fish($ 13, amazingly tender chunks of fish) As far as drinks go, the Empress Tea with lychee, fresh mint, lemon, soda and gin is divine — pity I’m not a drinker. If you order it virgin, sadly, it’s the same price(same amount of work, I was told). I live across the road and eat here all the time. I was briefly a line cook in a fancy restaurant, the cooks behind the swinging curtain really know how to execute a recipe! Décor/lighting is so-so,(too dark! Lights need to be on walls, not just ceiling) but the food more than makes up for it. Fun to perch on the three-seater tables right out front.
