Oh, the days when I still ate sandwiches. I love the sandwich options I had when I lived in SF — crab sandwiches from Roxie’s, the veggie feast from Grain D’or. I was pretty sad and sandwich-less for lunch until we found this deli. I had their Haight Ashbury every time, and every time it was fresh, crunchy and the bread would hold out until the very last bites. Not the largest sandwiches, but enough to hold you over if you have a sandwich craving. The free cookies were a nice treat too. They’re friendly, on the genuine side, and work fast. It’s a barebones deli that doesn’t need to do much more than make fresh sandwiches.

Walked by the other day with a taste for the place and the sign in the windows said closed. So there you have it in a nutshell.

Damn, another one bites the dust. Tried to go there for lunch today, and thought it was looking suspicious as I walked up to the door… sure enough, somebody wrote that they are CLOSED on a piece of paper, and«will not re-open.» No reason given; I had eaten here just a few weeks prior and there was no indication of shutting down! Maybe the new Sprouts store drove the rent prices up too high. Dittmer’s new location across the street probably didn’t help. I really liked how they always supported all the local sports teams(signs and posters hung up all over, employees with team shirts and ballcaps); I remember I watched the Giants 2012 Victory Parade from here during my lunch break! I always enjoyed their hot sandwiches, and the free chocolate-chip cookie with every sandwich was always more delicious than I expected. I also received more than one free sandwich from the buy-ten-get-one-free stamp cards they had. Guess I’ll never get to complete this last card. Perhaps absence makes the heart grow fonder, but I am gonna up them to 5-stars. And I’ll probably be getting sandwiches from Dittmer’s more often now.

Finally tried this place as I always see someone holding a sign on the corner of El Camino and San Antonio, and because I love sandwiches. I actually picked up a google offer where I basically get one sandwich free, and treated a coworker with it. I was in a pastrami kind of mood, so went for the Hot Pastrami, which also includes bacon and swiss. Got it on dutch crunch, with extra garlic sauce, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and peppers. She made our sandwiches quickly, and the cashier popped in a fresh baked cookie in our bags. I did see a little microwaving of my meat, but it’s okay. 10 minutes later, back at work. Sandwich was cold unfortunately, and my mouth is a little tore up from the dutch crunch bed. Overall, it’s a decent sandwich, but lacks flavor, that extra pizzaz. Garlic sauce is nothing like dirty sauce at Ike’s, and even the pastrami is slightly bland. Coworker agreed that the sandwich was just decent, nothing out of this world like other sandwich places nearby. Prices are also a bit hefty for the speciality sandwiches, $ 7.50 a pop. However, they are packed with meat and large in size. But the workers are friendly and they make the sandwiches correctly and quickly.

This place makes a so so sandwich(I tried«The City»). This consisted of microwaved premade grilled chicken breast, avocado, bacon and your choice of other sides. No points for décor. Given the opportunity, I’d rather return to Ace of Sandwiches(just down El Camino Real) or Ike’s(a bit further, closest location on Stanford’s campus). See my reviews for info on those businesses. One(small) bonus, was the chocolate chip cookie that came with my $ 8 sandwich.

It’s hard to go wrong with pastrami bacon and swiss. They have a small outside area to sit in on the nice days. They do pander to the bay area crowd with their specific themed names but most importantly the sandos are tasty

3.5 stars Solid hefty manwiches. The bread is incredible, the meat is high quality, and they give huge slices of avocado. Their dutch crunch is hearty and dutchy and crunchy and more roof-of-mouth friendly than at other places. The City is so so good, as is anything smothered in bbq sauce and melted cheese(looking at you Lombard). Salads are pretty decently sized too and come with an ample amount of chicken or tuna. And everything comes with a cookie! That’s good enough for me. PS — Garlic. Sauce.

Sandwiches are so-so in my book. Generally flavorful and yummy, but I’m not a fan of the cheap shredded lettuce and overall lack of good vegetable options. Sandwiches are close to $ 8, and I can get a sandwich with fresh mixed greens, sprouts, etc across the street at Whole Foods for a dollar less. My co-workers love this place though, and I do appreciate the fact that they have Group-on type deals.(Saw one on Living Social and Home Run Deals)

When im stuck at work for lunch and can’t find a lunch date, i usually stop here for food. The workers are always friendly and the different sandwiches are always good. Will definitely go back in the future.

What should not be in a $ 7.50 sandwich: 1. Brown avocado 2. Shaved turkey, probably purchased from Grocery Outlet 3. Vegetables that taste like processed stuff from Subway Save your lunch money and go elsewhere. It shouldn’t be so hard to make a decent $ 5.00 sandwich and I expect a lot more for one priced at $ 7.50.

I’m not quite sure what the point of having specialty sandwiches is if you don’t actually include what’s supposed to be in them… I ordered a Fisherman’s Wharf, which, according to their online menu, is also supposed to include Swiss cheese and cucumber and lo and behold, mine did not. Service is slooooow for a sandwich shop. Three people working during the lunch hour and they can only basically serve one customer at a time, not sure why. Also, I called in my order(3 sandwiches, 2 hot, one cold) and they gave me a 20-minute wait time. I arrive and have to wait 5 more minutes to actually tell them I’m there to pick up my order, at which point they still finish making the last sandwich. Not exactly a quick and easy takeout lunch, which is basically the whole point of sandwich shops, isn’t it? For the price, it’s a decent sized sandwich. The ingredients also just aren’t that fresh — the sliced wheat bread is dried out and the 1st time I tried this place, the turkey seemed a little slimy as well. The avocado was pretty fresh though, so that’s at least a positive. I think I’m skipping it from now on.

My 3 favorite sandwiches from this place is the turkey, chicken salad and the tuna salad. Absolutely delicious! I also love the meatball and cheese combo, it just doesn’t get any better than that! And of course I always get a salad because I am a S-A-L-A-D-H-O-L-I-C! — Sorry to shout everyone but when I am passionate about something I get very excited! Salads are the most refreshing and healthy food and can always put you in a good mood no matter how bad of a day you are having! On a nice day we like to get an order to go and go to the park or lake. The menu is priced well and so is the kids menu. They of course are a very clean restaurant with friendly folks helping make your experience a good one. My sisters boss is always having her order out for the group when he has meetings so next time I go I stop in I want to inquire and will be back with an update just as soon as I do!

This place makes really great sandwiches. The prices are reasonable and it a good portion. I really like how they give you a lot of meat. I hate eating sandwiches that are mostly bread! The staff is friendly and their quick to make your order. Unfortunately they can be understaffed on the weekend so be prepared for a line.

I was in the area b/c I was planning on going to REI so I decided to stop by this place. I ordered the pastrami sandwich. All sandwiches come with(lets see I can remember them all)…mayo, mustard, garlic sauce, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles and some with cheese depending on the sandwich you order. Overall it was pretty good. I think Ike’s is better but this wasn’t a bad sandwich at all. The wheat roll I had on it wasn’t stale and the portions were a decent size for the price of my sandwich(5.99). I will say one thing though. This place makes a killing off their«specialty sandwiches». But if you look at the fine print, getting a regular sandwich will save you over 1 dollar and it’s not much difference. Case in point… I initially ordered the hot pastrami off the«specialty» menu which is over 7 bucks. The only difference between the hot pastrami and the regular pastrami is bacon and the fact that the regular pastrami isn’t hot. But the catch is that you can opt to get a regular pastrami hot, which I did. Sounds confusing I know. I wish they would just do without the«specialty» items on similar sandwiches and do one price. Also having to ask for a key to use the bathroom is annoying at times especially when there are only two workers and one is making sandwiches and the other is ringing up orders. Nonetheless, both workers there were really nice so dabs to them.

My family and I love to come here for a weekend take-out lunch. Everything tastes very fresh and healthy. I am currently on a mission to try each sanchwich on the menu. So far, I have equally liked everything. The free cookie really does it for the kids, too.

So, there I was shopping for shoes in the same strip– mall where Lettuce Sandwich Shop is located. When I use to live/work here it was a Quiznos. I thought I would give it a try. I ordered the Coit Tower, which is a hot roast beef, pastrami and jack cheese sandwich. You have your choice of bread and the typical condiments. They also have a garlic spread, which I tried on a wheat roll. It was very good! Everything tasted very fresh and it had a good amount of meat and cheese on it. The size is comparable to the foot longs at Subway. However, the meat is much better quality and fresh tasting. I’m willing to spend a couple of bucks more for freshness. The woman who served me was very nice and we talked about how long they have been in business and how they were doing since a lot of the stores around them have closed down. I’m all in favor in helping«Mom and Pop» stores, especially if they are good. So, if you’re in the area, give them a try! I will be back when I’m in the area. PS: The free chocolate chip cookie is a nice touch. And no it did not look or taste like a Chips Ahoy cookie. It looked like a freshly baked cookie from a premixed cookie dough. I could be wrong but who cares. it’s free.

Great place for a sandwich, I had the B.L.A.T(Bacon, lettuce, avocado, tomato) — really good sandwich! Staff was friendly and attentive. You mean to tell me I get a cookie too? Oh how I love cookies.

4 stars in name only, me thinks this place really deserves 3 or 3.5, but i was just too starving to give an objective view of the tastyness. $ 8.18 for my sandwich + tax and free cookie. A bit expensive as there are other sandwich shops in the area that are cheaper and/or tastier. The portions are pretty generous — I only finished half and was able to eat the rest as late afternoon snack/dinner. I got The City — chicken breast, avocado, bacon, and jack cheese on dutch crunch with everything but garlic sauce. Avocados were perfect(yay), chicken was flavorful and tender/moist(yay), but bacon was almost nonexistant(boo). Dutch crunch had sufficient texture(was not completely soft like togo’s), but it did not scrape up the roof of my mouth(yay). This is completely different from the first sandwich I got here a couple months back. Maybe it was just new restaurant syndrome, or maybe it was because I got a hot sandwich instead of cold, but the ham/salami cold sandwich I got the first time was only ok. Was not worth the $ 8. Lots of parking as it shares the same lot as CVS and Rasputin. Service was very friendly and helpful. Not fast, as expected for most delis, but watch out for lunch rush at noon weekdays. Some tables inside, one or two outside. Free cookies are tasty but does not do much to offset the $ 8 price/sandwich. Dittmer’s down the street is probably a better choice — just as tasty(if not tastier) and cheaper!

Once again my addiction to Groupons made me venture to a new place. For $ 4, I was excited to try a new sandwich place. Sandwiches are possibly my favorite type of food. I mean, carbs disguised as fluffy breads topped with whatever I want? Score! I tried the«Marina» the first time. It was hot pastrami, bacon and avocado with cream cheese and the works(+1 for peperoncinis). The pastrami was cold and I guess the combo just didn’t work together. The bread could have been fresher, too. They give you a sugar-loaded cookie with your sandwich that would be any mother’s nightmare if fed to their children — no, not because it’s not nutritious, but because of the ADD effect it would have… Since I had 3 coupons, my boyfriend and I went a week after my initial visit. He got the«Hot Pastrami» which came with bacon and swiss cheese and I got the«Presidio» which was turkey, ham, bacon and cheddar on triple decker toast. This sando was way more to my liking than the first one I had. Nonetheless, they were just alright again. If I wanted to splurge $ 7 – 8 on a sandwich, I’d go to Dittmer’s next door and get a mountainous lunch feast that has more originality and pizzazz.

Thank goodness Quizno’s closed down. Love toasted sandos, but hate all the extraneous unhealthy stuff: nitrites, sodium, preservatives & questionable sauces. Lettuce delivers a clean sando w/all the fix’ins: test drove the Alcratraz and the Presidio, both $ 7.49 each, I think it’s pricey for a homemade looker. Oh they provide a choco chip cookie too, but it seems to be the boxed variety.
