I forgot to write about this place — I came here with a buddy of mine at the end of April. We sat for a couple hours. I can’t vouch for his sandwich, but my sugar free iced vanilla latte was decent. It was a little warm inside, but the ambiance was nice. I’ll have to go back sometime and see how it is upstairs. I was a little irritated that I couldn’t connect to the wifi the entire time we were there. My Windows 7 laptop wouldn’t connect, but his Mac would. Odd. Decent atmosphere, quiet neighborhood. I’ll probably be back.

Small menu, average food, okay prices. I had the mixed greens salad and soup of the day(I already forgot what it was… something green). Came out to $ 10 and some change, but I was hungry again in a couple hours so maybe not so worth it. Doesn’t seem like the place would ever get too busy, so you can take advantage of their ample seating, outlets, and free wifi.

In which coffee shop the owner bakes you a special pastry because you’ve asked for it? I’M SOLD! 5 stars to Dan, the owner, whom with I shared my pain of not finding cheese bourekas(an Israeli savory pastry) in the peninsula and a day later got the news that bourekas are now served. Not only bourekas are served, but they are made with organic, wholesome flour! a HEALTHY bourekas… a dream come true. So I don’t really care about anything now that I have a place to purchase warm, fresh, cheese bourekas and not feel all that guilty about it. Bravo.

Not. Good. Love the idea of an organic bakery. Love the friendly owner. Love the location and the neighborhood and the feel. Hate the bread. Which is a problem in a bakery. I came here really wanting a salad, and they only have two. That’s a problem. So I got the asparagus soup of the day instead. It was ok, but it was spotty, with bits that were a lot warmer than others. I got a «cheese spiral,» too. It was pretty dry, very dense. The herbs inside were tasty, but it generally wasn’t great, unless I dipped it in the soup. My mom got the Mediterranean sandwich. The bread was thick and dry; the hummus and the spread completely got lost inside it. The owner said he only took it over a few months ago. Props to him for inheriting a legacy of such great reviews. But for those of us who support the organic movement, who constantly find ourselves defending it against those who would label us «crunchy» or «health nuts,» isn’t it worse to have places like these, that leave you with a bad taste in your mouth?

Was in the area and wanted something quick for lunch. I was pleasantly surprised by the sandwich which was prepared on home made whole wheat bread. I got to take one of the sweet rolls for later and it was delicious too. I do not know of other places in the area that prepare their own bread in a home style fashion. The bread here is great.

I’m really not sure why everyone raves about this place. Guy serving me was really nice, but my California sandwich was so-so. Kind of dry, actually. Appreciated that it was toasted cos I love crispy bread, but there was just too much bread in proportion to the ingredients. Maybe because whole grain bread can taste pretty hefty/substantial, or I’ve gotten used to other places where there’s a ton of meat/sauce. Not sure it was worth $ 6.50, but it’s a cute neighborhood:)

Just came back from a late breakfast here… what a great place! Extremely nice service, clean and comfortable décor, and peaceful outdoor seating with some great CalTrain people-watching. The menu isn’t extensive, but both mine and my boyfriend’s sandwiches were delicious. Mine was egg, tomato, avocado and cheese on a whole-wheat roll($ 5.50), and his was egg, avocado, sundried tomato and spinach on a pita roll($ 5.50). The house coffee(small — $ 1.65) was also great and there were coffee creamers, etc. on hand. Portions were perfect and everything was extremely fresh. Great service, great view, great food, great location. I’ll be back!

I enjoyed my meal, but I didn’t think this place was THAT amazing. I ordered the mediterranean sandwich and the bf ordered the goat cheese and avocado sandwich, and while both were fine, I don’t really think their size or taste was worth $ 6.50. When will I ever find a good sandwich in this area?! However, I do think it would be a great spot to come for coffee, tea or breakfast. Lots of seating, free wifi and I noticed several outlets, so it might be a good spot to get some work done.

Most out-of-the-way spots I’ve found are either a) in scary neighborhoods, or b) are scary places themselves. Crossings is not one of them. It’s a cute little café tucked in a residential-townhouse neighborhood. Other than being across the street from a Caltrain station, it is still off the beaten path and hidden from major avenues. I’m guessing it makes over 50% of its sales from people in the surrounding development, including the caltrain morning rush. I came here because I heard they had falafel: – Falafel veggie wrap:($ 6.95) It took an eternity to make; A very large wrap, due to a massive amount of salad and veggies; not so much of the falafel. The falafel balls were obviously re-warmed in the microwave;(Though the flavor was fine, the texture was dense and rubbery). The entire wrap was poorly constructed and messy, and I had to use a fork(and 4 napkins) before I was done. 2.5 stars. I wish they had more to offer than just sandwiches for lunch, because I found the setting charming and quite appealing. I’d like to come back here when I had time to sit and read, but I’m not sure what I’d order next time, apart from something on their breakfast menu. Maybe I’ll come back for coffee with my laptop in tow, since others have mentioned the free wi-fi.

Decided to head here for a coffee fix. Parking was pain and had to make a couple of circles around the block before I found a spot. I am sure it is convenient for the folks who live in the townhouse complex where this is located or maybe take the train from the Caltrain station across the street. It is pretty small, they have a decent variety of coffee, desserts and sandwiches. I like the murals on the walls. The menu is on a board that is really high on the wall and I got a crick in my neck looking up at the options. Not really but … the menu is really too high on the wall. ;-) They had some unique items like tortas(looked like just plain bread not the Mexican sandwiches) from Spain which was kinda cool. Bumping up a star for that.

3.5 stars. Have been here twice for lunch now. First time, the place was empty, lots of street parking, didn’t even realize that was an issue until I read the Unilocal reviews. This time, there were actually people in the café, and I barely lucked out on finding parking down the street. Very cute interior. Tables and chairs, as well as comfy couches. Abundance of teas to choose from. Outlets along the back counter. Owner is super friendly and nice. Very helpful and quick service. If you’re eating there, she’ll bring your food out to your table. Otherwise, she’ll have your food out in less than 10 minutes. I got the californian again — turkey, cheddar, avocado, lettuce, tomato, cucumber, and bacon. The sandwich was overflowing! Two bites to get from top to bottom. The light balsamic dressing that she puts on the lettuce(real lettuce, not shredded crapola) made the bread a little soggy, but if you eat there, there would be absolutely no issue. I like that there are a lot of quality veggies, but you can still taste the meat. TONS of bacon(yes!) Good amount of food for me, but might not be enough for those with larger appetites. Only issue for me was that the avocado was starting to brown and was not ripe enough. It was not as soft as I would have liked either. But, I am just super picky about my avocados. Overall, food was 3 stars — good, but doesn’t seem worthwhile to drive all the way over here for a sandwich, vs. my cravings for Dittmer’s. I remember the avocados being out of this world awesome last time I was here, but it might just be not in season now, or possibly too high expectations. But the great service bumps it up to 3.5 stars. $ 7 for sandwich and chips.

I love this place because of their selection, nice employees/owners and café cuteness. I think I counted over 40 types of tea the last time I was there! They also have smoothie and coffee options and a big drinks fridge. I had the veggie sandwich and found it to be pretty filling. Last time I was there I couldn’t resist the bakery items in the window and tried the coffee cake, which was delicious(and huge; I had to split it)! The people that work there are really friendly so it makes the experience even nicer. This café was a good find!

Today I walked my disobedient dog all around Mountain View. By the time I was passing by Crossings Café, I was hot and tired and the«fresh orange carrot juice» sounded both tempting and intriguing. There was no one in the café and the owner Jean was really nice! When I asked for the juice, she asked me which one I wanted… so I guess it isn’t an orange-carrot juice but rather one or the other. I asked her which she preferred and she said she liked a little bit of each. As I waited for her to make the juice(literally sticking carrots down teh juicer), I looked around. The interior décor is very cute and comfy looking with an upstairs… and I heard they have free wireless!(i asked) Definitely will come back to try the sandwiches(she said the sandwiches are really good) and perhaps the huge slice of red velvet cake($ 2.75). My juice was $ 3.50(pricey) but the cup was pretty big. The teas and coffees prices looked pretty reasonable. we’ll see!

Great little café. Jin(owner) sold me on the veggie bagel. You might ask for more crunchy if you like. I missed the northbound train by one minute. Strolled in and made some great conversation with the owner. Great person to practice Chinese with. Mandarin or Cantonese. Even Cantonese, if you are an ABC and you’re just OK. Warm up before you go if you need to and she’ll warm up to you. Switch back to English if you have stumble. Tasty smoothie and she even has piroshkis. Probably quieter than most of the cafes on Castro Street. Really mellow on a Saturday. I’d make a trip just to eat there again.

The Californian(the sandwich i bought) was without doubt, amazing. Clean, fresh, and flavorful. The café was cute, well decorated, gave a good vibe, and seating outside. The service was great, asian couple greeted us friendly, quickly got our orders ready and even brought our cups of water out to our table. I had a problem, usually I don’t need to eat much to feel full. But I gobbled up that sandwich in a second and felt like i could eat 5 more. The portions a bit tiny for their prices, bout $ 6 – 8 sandwiches. Parking… where can I park? Either I park at Safeways and have a lovely stroll of 15mins walk to get there or wait till someone leaves their home so I could steal their street side parking. I wouldn’t mind the stroll but it would be quite convenient to have an area to park here. I haven’t had anything else here so it might be better. I like it, but im not raving about it. I’ll go to relax there once I have more pocket change to burn on small sandwiches.

MMMM I had to put down my sandwich to write this review! What a great little gem we found! They don’t have a huge selection but what they have is really great! The White Nutty Chicken sandwich sounded interesting so I ordered that while my friend got the herbed chicken on a roll. They pay attention to detail here as they toast your bread, use spring mix for the lettuce and drizzle balsamic on the salad to make your sandwich extra tasty! The chicken salad was full of flavor and fresh sliced grapes and peanuts in the mix. It was also accompanied with cucumbers and tomatoes on toasted wheat. Perfect size for me and much higher quality sandwich than Roger’s Deli. Roger’s may win in the bread war but sandwiches, Crossings has them beat! Ps. My friend said her sandwich was warm yummy and toasty with just the right amount of cheese, herbed chicken was juicy and flavorful and the same great salad mix. We are definitely coming back to try other sandwiches on the menu! PS. Décor is really cute and cozy to chill out if you have time for a cup of coffee or to eat your sandwich at the store. The sofas are plush and very comfy!

In search of the perfect breakfast burrito, I do believe I have found the best contender yet at Crossings Café. Located across the street from the San Antonio Caltrain Station, this little café pays attention to the food. And the coffee. The espresso drinks here are made to order, and the help knows what it is doing with the grinding, drawing shots, and milk steaming. On to the burrito. It is hot. It is not runny, either from undercooked eggs, too much salsa, or extra grease. The onions and other veggie ingredients are incredibly fresh, and not overcooked before insertion into the mix. Finally, the burrito is flattened to give it a more solid feel. You can cut it in half and the ingredients stay put at the cut, not falling out all over the plate. Familiar homey atmosphere, I will return for more burritos here.

I feel quite fortunate to live walking distance to this wonderful little café. Try the breakfast burrito, which to me is unparalleled anywhere else. The eggs inside are incredibly fluffy and airy, the salsa is fresh, and the whole burrito is lightly pressed as if a panini. If it’s past breakfast time, that’s okay– you can’t go wrong with the wild nutty chicken sandwich that’s making this place locally famous. The coffee here is wonderful, and Sam, who runs the place, always remembers you and has something cheerful to say. The music they play here is infectious as well– upbeat Middle Eastern grooves. Crossings also features free wifi and comfy couches, and travel magazines or current newspapers to peruse while you wait for your meal. You never feel rushed being there, including to pay. You can pay as you leave– just place your order, then get comfortable! Everything is made to order, and made with skill. How many train-side cafes can boast this?

4.5 stars? Really, Unilocal!,really? I wouldn’t say it’s anything special. I went there for lunch with a friend because of the amazing reviews … and it’s just okay. Actually the place is quite empty except for the retired guys leisurely reading their newspapers. I can’t complain about the food, though. The Nutty Chicken salad sandwich was good(though I think it had raisins instead of cranberries, but I can’t be sure). I just wouldn’t give it 4.5 stars. It’s not even something that I’m sure I’d go back there for. I think the place is getting such high reviews because nobody expects there to be something edible near the train station, and they’re pleasantly surprised.

I came here for the first time about a week and a half ago and when I stopped by again today, the woman running the shop remembered me and my original order. Not only that, when she realized that there was not enough oatmeal for a normal«hearty» portion, she humbly came out, apologized and offered me a free scone with my oatmeal. It turns out that the oatmeal was enough to hit the spot and now I had a scone I can take to work! That is true customer service! On top of that, my cappuccino was perfect and the foam was made just right.
