I recently stopped at the restaurant and ordered nabeyaki udon. The soup was very bland, really hot and it tasted like nothing. Basically, it was a volcano of hot water. I am a fan of Japanese food but I did not find the dish impressive. It felt like eating food without a soul. I doubt I’ll order it again in the future and I wonder if the dish would be that bland in Japan.

Ordered take out. Proceeded to tell me that I need to pay cash because my order was $ 10. Their register has Visa/MasterCard logos right on them. Then a man, who had to be about 75, walked in and used the restroom. On the way out both the male and female at the register proceeded to berate him and tell him he had to order something since he used the restroom. I get it, the restroom is for«customers only», but there was no need to be rude to this man. Got food home and literally the worst sushi I have ever had. The Spicy Tuna roll was canned tuna mixed with some spicy sauce. It looked like cat food. Terrible food, terrible customer service.

We were here for lunch. They charged us $ 3 extra to change ca rolls for cucumber roll in kids bento box. Salmon roe was not fresh with unpleasant smell. We returned it back. Kids asked for desert but they have already brought us s check. Won’t come here again.

I love this place! I’ve lived near here a couple years, and due to being closest to my home, I am here whenever I get a sushi craving. This place is wonderful! The servers are always very sweet, the sushi is super fresh and generous portions. Wonderful crisp tempura. I am in love with the salad dressing, that stuff is so good I could drink it! My usual deal is to order my sushi to go and have it during my lunch break at work, it always satisfies. But I also come here for dinner every so often, and enjoy their hot tea, and watching the sushi chefs do their thing.

The sushi is average but the service is exemplary. The restaurant has two parts. One is like a sushi bar /lounge complete with saki bomb specials and an air hockey table. The second half is the restaurant. It’s small and cozy, maybe a seating capacity of 45. Came in on a Sunday after shopping at Costco and was happy to see there were quite a few people inside, always a good sign! The sushi is on the good side of average. Their sauces are sweet which I think takes away from rolls. Their OMG roll is pretty cool though. Its basically a california roll with tempura shrimp inside topped with deep fried pieces of lobster and siracha crack mayo. Not sure if I’d come out of my way for this, but if ever if you’re burnt out on costco hot dogs this is a wonderful post-shopping option and I’d happily recommend it. Prices are very reasonable. Two specialty rolls, 1 hand roll, 2 sodas = $ 39.

I had the tempura udon, I would like more flavor but I guess udon soup is not meant to be too flavorful. Also shared a lion roll, which was pretty tasty.

This place surprised me. Not far from my work so decided to stop by for lunch… had the nirgiri combo. and love the way they cute and present their fish. They are not shy with the amount they give you and good price too for what you pay. Def gonna come back.

I’ve never had a better sushi experience. The server for our party of four was very professional and timely. Our orders were accurate upon arrival. The fish was sashimi-grade fresh, and the bulgogi was succulent, moist and delicious. Of course, everything tastes better with Asahi beer, doesn’t it? The saki didn’t hurt, either, trust me. The restaurant ambiance was modern and tasteful, and the place stayed busy during our time there. Which dragged on a bit late, and our server politely informed us they were closing. Blame the beers and the saki. The prices seemed reasonable, although my thoughtful and generous daughter-in-law picked up the tab. Hanabi Sushi is family-friendly, and the convenient parking lot is a nice amenity. On my next visit to the area, I’m planning to enjoy this place again. Can’t wait !

Looks like they raise prices recently and on the weekend, there is no more sashimi lunch, but $ 20 sashimi combo instead, and special bento is $ 20! They’re seriously pricing themselves out of the weekend lunch market!

Very bad experience, although the food was fresh! They forged my credit card tip amount, basically just added $ 50. BTW, This was a take out! Will never go back there!!! Check the receipt: tip, added 5 in front of the 0, total, made 4 into a 9 Issue resolved in 2 days. Got my $ 50 back with an apology + ~$ 40 worth of sushi. you decide if you wanna go there. Food is super!!!

i know japanese because i have eaten japanese all over SFBAY. Their quantity is still huge, quality is awesome and price is cheapest in the area. I am not sure how they manage it to do so but i always see the owner, his wife, daughter and son working together try to make the best sushi as much as possible. They always greet me with a smile and i always leave with full stomach. I asked about the how tasty, and they make their own seasoning in house unlike they buy! furthermore, their Ramen taste so authentic! Tempra taste so crisp

I love love love sushi, I’ll have it any time but not at any place. I just moved up to the area and am trying to find my regular sushi place to adopt. This is a worthy suitor for sushi, but not for other Japanese dishes. There is a large selection of sushi to choose from including simple to baked to specialty rolls at reasonable prices. I ordered a Philadelphia Roll for $ 7 and got exactly what I expected. Six pieces and no surprises, consistently sliced fish with the right ratio of cream cheese with fish and avocado. Nice. It was my friend’s order that was a huge disappointment. She got the bento box with chicken and California Rolls. There was a generous amount of chicken but it was straight up cold when it arrived at our table! There was also a fried tofu stuffed with sweet rice. I can’t decide if I liked it or not, but it was an interesting component to the dish. Unfortunately, the coldness of the chicken really overshadows everything else in the bento box… I’ll probably be back, just for sushi though.

This is my 2nd visit. The 1st time, a few yrs ago, I wasnt Unilocaling. i was visiting relatives and they tend to choose this place bc it has a good menu selection and plenty of seating. the sushi is decent that you wouldnt know that the owners are korean. price is fair for japanese food. this isnt a buffet so u cant compare it to those.

Can’t say enough how much we love this place! Always a must whenever I am back home in Mountain View! Lion King roll, Hot night roll and my absolute fave of the poke roll(ANABSOLUTEMUST) They have a smaller sushi bar and dining area, BUT their outdoor seating that is a cover patio is rather huge and could easily seat a big party comfortably. We have gone with both my sisters, their spouses and ALL7 of our kids and we have been really comfortable. Even when we order for pick up our food is always FRESH and ready in less than the 15 minutes that they say. Since we lived literally 7 blocks away. It’s the go to spot for our sushi craving hands down. I will say and can’t stress enough to how packed and super busy it can be during Lunch, because of all the tech buildings in Mountain View(Google, Apple, etc) but also because they are located right in the middle of the only Costco within 20 miles north of the peninsula(not saying sunnyvale since that’s south) and the parking is crappy. plain and simple. Especially coming on a Friday afternoon or weekend. other than that, it’s an awesome place with friendly staff and one you can enjoy a date night after a early movie at shoreline or a lunch date with the kiddos.

Service: friendly Environment: slightly darker, but thy have terrace Food: hamachi Kama– very good! Moist and flavorful! Oyako don– the taste is fabulous! The proportion of hike and rice is decent. However the the chicken is desperate from the egg. Egg seems like pan fried not lightly scrambled. Sashimi– fabulous! Over all is a really good place! Will come back!:-)
