Sonic Drive In

Burger and fries were pretty good. There really wasn’t anyone there which was odd. A little pricey, but then again what isnt anymore.

I can’t comment on the food because it never came. Slowest drive in ever. We waited 30 minutes and then left

First… they made me cover back tonight… I couldn’t bring it in tomorrow… so I had to bring the food back because it was green and smelled bad. The manager said none of the other food was like that… and didn’t apologize. I’ll be talking to corporate!

I should have listened to Unilocal.But I had been craving sonic for awhile now and it happened to be on my way home andd it was happy hour. So pulled in the drive thru to get a drink. Now the wait was a little longer than usual but I was ok with that since it was happy hour and it happens. From the back of the line to get my order took about 5−7ish minutes. But they gave a free med tot coupon for the delay. What annoyed me however is that they couldn’t get my order right. It was ONE drink with light ice shouldn’t be too hard right. Apparently the word light means extra since my drink became essentially a cup of ice. Won’t be stopping by this location anytime soon.

The sonic menu board lists a large sonic blast as real ice cream with whipped topping and either candie or cookies blended in for a little over five dollars. But unless you pay an additional forty cents. almost 10% more you get only ice cream. In other words you must pay extra for the add in even though the item blast is described in writing as ice cream plus add in. Both Modesto locations engage in this. When i complained to the cashier. politely of course, she said extra charges also applied to flavors in the slushes and other menu items. She also said she gets lots of complaints about it. I felt sorry for her.
Their corporate office claimed to be unaware and apologized. It’s definitely misleading you can’t buy a sonic blast for the price listed on the menu. For this reason i can’t feel good about eating there. I have tried some of the burgers and sandwiches but didn’t finish them because they tasted bad. The slushies were refreshing and tasty and sometimes half price. well almost half off. They should list the real price or description of what you get at menu board price. Pay attention when you pay… seriously.

This place has the SLOWEST. Drive tru in the history of life! Every time I come here I say I’m NEVER coming back!!! Damn butterfingers blast!

Poor customer service. Waited 25 minutes in the drive-​thru line. Person taking our order Got our order wrong. They had us waiting at the order box for another additional 5 minutes & they gave us a stupidly over priced total, which was wrong.

This sonics sucks, they forgot my tatertots and ketchup, never going here again and the cheeseburgers taste like shit!!!

This place flat out sucks. The stuff we ordered was wrong, it took forever, and the first cup they gave me had a leak and it got all over my car, never coming here again!

Never fails thought I’d give them a second chance since they r by my house and once again they forgot somthing, stale fries and this time my food was upside down so my chili tots were a mess next time il just drive to mchenery

I just left this place. It’s awful. I orders one cone and one Sunday and waited for 20 minutes. From outside I could see my orders both ready and my cone, melting away. One girl even wiped it clean and still left it sitting there. This place is awful I finally pressed the mic again and asked them to cancel it I was done and out of the mood to have a guilty pleasure after all. I’ll never spend money here again. Terrible service.

The service here is so slow!!! By far the most I waited for fast food burger and fries BOTH times I stopped by.

No and no. Thought we’d enjoy a quick guilty pleasure on our way down to the central valley. Kiddo had to use the restroom. Why oh why?! I guess because this place is a drive-​in diner, they put very little focus on the «Restaurant» itself. The bathroom is off to the side of the building and if it’s locked, you have to cry out to the people inside the actual restaurant. That in itself was unpleasant because you get to see how the kitchen looks. I’ll leave that alone.
Anyway, the food does take a really long time. I had time to wait and wait and wait for the restroom to open up, then ultimately take my little girl to the men’s restroom (yuck!) and get us all cleaned up, and our food STILL hadn’t finished. No more visits here for me.

Tried them again this evening but they are so slow!!! Save your self drive across town to the Mchenry location. They must be managed better because there staff always seems to get the drinks out quick. Orange burg location is poorly managed!!!

Waited 9 minutes for two raspberry lemonade slushies. Not an apology or anything. Rude attitude by the girl who helped us as well. Will not come back.

A FAST FOOD 50’S DINER
Having recently moved from Sacramento, I had never before patronized a Sonic. It is a bit sad, really, as the advertisements still play up there. Those ads are the quintessential guy ads-​relaxing in your car listening to the radio having a burger, fries, shake, slush, etc, after it has been hand delivered to you by a gal on skates (although they are not on skates.)
Sonic seems to be on the high end of fast food. Any item that can be had at other establishments can be ordered here with what seems to my taste buds a higher quality. The near unlimited slush flavor combinations is an immediate draw, as well as the fact that they have their «Happy Hour» in which slushes are extraordinarily cheap.
That being said, there are many problems that, if properly addressed, would garner from me a 5 star review of this location:
1. The low volume on the ordering speaker of the drive-​through. The interface looks and sounds as if it really was made in the 50’s. If I cannot hear or see your confirmation of my order, then it slows things down.
2. Very slow drive-​thru. While they do make many items fresh, that does not warrant a 5 minute per car wait time. Also, see above for possible slow down problems.
3. Incorrect orders. If you have an order over $ 20.00, be prepared to call them back to fix it.
4. Changes to the menu that are not reflected on the menu. Seriously guys? Bring back the CinnaSnacks!
Overall, if you want fast food but want it to actually taste good, then Sonic is your place. I consider it the middle ground between true fast food (ie. McDonalds) and an actual restaurant. Besides, you will spend 20 minutes just choosing slush flavors anyways!

Hit or miss at this place, sometimes good and sometimes reallllllly bad! Save ure dinero and go somewhere else…

It took over 20 mins for me to get two drinks & a hotdog not counting how long it took just to get someone to take my order.

There’s no denying it. Sonic has a very effective TV ad campaign. I know this personally as I had never eaten at a Sonic but really wanted to try it solely from watching the TV commercials.
The girlfriend had been similarly «re-​educated» by Sonic’s visual propaganda. So when it was time to grab something quick to eat on our way home from Yosemite, we stopped at this Sonic in Modesto right off of 99.
Sonic’s schtick is that it’s a drive-​in. You order from your car, a Sonic employee on roller skates brings your food to your car & you eat in your car. It’s a tiny slice of 1950’s Americana in the 21^st century. But, without all the drive-​in trappings, it’s ultimately mediocre fast food.
The girlfriend & I ordered the same thing: Chili Cheese Coney Foot Long, Chili Cheese Tater Tots & Cherry Limeade. All of the food was way too salty & the Cherry Limeade was way too sweet. I couldn’t really appreciate the heavy-​handed, single-​note flavors. I guess I don’t have a fast food palate.
True to fast food, our food was fast, filling & cheap. But that’s the best & only compliment I can give it. Based on what we ate alone, Sonic is 2 stars. I give this Sonic in Modesto 3 stars, however, because service was excellent. Our roller-​skate wearing Sonic employee came out to us a few extra times to check on us & offer drink refills.
Sonic Drive In has pervasive & powerfully persuasive TV commercials, but the food isn’t remotely as cool or fun or tasty as those TV ads imply. Now that the truth about the food has been revealed by its flavor, all that visual propaganda just doesn’t have the allure it once did.

Hilariously, I almost died to get here for the first time. Literally! I’d been seeing commercials for Sonic for months and I didn’t have any local spots, so when my fiancée and I were on a road trip, we spotted this barely before the exit to get there. So a heavy swerve across two lanes later, here we arrived!
The food, admittedly, is not the absolute best. It’s fast food, so it’s not the pinnacle of quality. But compared to similar stops, it’s pretty good. I’ve always been a fan of the «toaster» sandwiches when I’m feeling like getting something a little on the calorie-​heavy side. They don’t disappoint. I’m also a closet fan of the chili-​cheese tots. I don’t think they have any reason to be as tasty as they are, but they satisfy.
The big winner here is the drink selection. The fruit slushes are awesome. I’m a big fan of the lemon-​berry slush with grape and lime add-​ins, but of course, you can always customize it to your liking and that’s the real beauty of Sonic: you can turn your drink into whatever you like. Tons of add-​ins allow for nearly limitless customization. Oh, and don’t forget about the java chillers. Tasty stuff!
For this particular location, the folks are fast (usually QUITE fast) and generally quite accurate. I had one incident where the order was messed up pretty badly, but they made it right, and gave us a handful of vouchers for free food. Can’t complain about that!
