Nancy’s Bagel Grounds is so frustrating in terms of service, that even though I love their everything bagels, I won’t go back to eat inside the restaurant. If I want a good bagel, I am happy that someone else will go into Nancy’s and emerge with bagels in a bag, allowing us to go home and fix breakfast in peace. I’ve tried to determine if they are selling so many bagels you are just forced to wait in a non-moving, non-functioning line, or if it is so pathetically laid out in terms of delivery and ordering that you end up dancing with other patrons, getting out of everyone’s way and ending up so frustrated you just want to run. It’s definitely the latter. You have to toast your own bagel in a toaster that is too small to accommodate the normal size of the bagels served, almost always burning the pieces. People stand around staring at each other, bumping into people trying to toss their trash and waiting to return your toasted bread to be dressed accordingly. There are several young women working behind the counter and they are the only one dealing with you from order to check-out. Everything is put into little paper cups, the napkins are so thin you end up using a dozen, servings vary according to which server you end up with and the workers seem as disjointed as the rest of the operation. The cost seems a little high, but I have no problem paying a little more for a good bagel in Louisville. They are hard to find and Nancy’s are very good, but it’s so totally not worth it because of the delivery design. The coffee is just so, I like that you can select your soda in a can, the homemade cream cheese is great and I guess the other foods are tasty. I know it’s local and I support that. I know it’s an electic little spot reflecting it’s Clifton roots, but I cannot support it fully because it is so dysfunctional. Get it together – get a toaster the staff can throw the bagels in and toast them appropriately and then finish the order in one smooth operation and have someone else man the cash register because I don’t like my bagel being spread right after someone has handled a ten dollar bill.

pricey cute little bagels. these are little fat, dense things. have some interesting flavors outisde of your typical bagel flavors such as rosemary parmesan. generous serving of cream cheese if you get it on the side. i recommend the herb. you do have to toast your own, which is annoying… especially if you have no patience like myself. also, no breakfast type of sandwich such as bacon and egg. more into the deli stuff like turkey etc. coffee was good.

I love Nancy’s! My favorite is an everything bagel with veggie cream cheese, lox, capers, onions and tomatoes! Wide variety to choose from.

I love Nancy’s and always will. My only regret is that the prices for anything other than a bagel and smear have risen to the point that I cannot frequent the shop like I used to. When egg salad costs the same as lox or turkey($ 7.75), there’s a disconnect. Same for a cheese or hummus sandwich that tops $ 7. I adore this local business and the egg salad is some of the best I’ve ever had, but, without a Groupon, lunch at Nancy’s is just too much of a budget buster for me.

You really cannot go wrong at Nancy’s Bagel. As a long time New York resident I cannot compare them to a New York style bagel, but I can tell you they are quite delicious! They are crispy on the outside and nice and chewy on the inside, as a bagel should be. I think the coffee here is what gets me every time. It’s nothing special; it just tastes phenomenal. Not sure how that works but I highly recommend trying it. What gives this place the fifth star is the wonderful staff! The is a local bagel shop and I believe family owned and run. I’ve been in here a handful of times and they are the kindest and most helpful group! I came in here one time with a groupon and it was enough for a dozen bagels, at least I thought so. The two women helping us then said that if I get the dozen bagels and a tub of cream cheese I will only owe 17 cents. Done and Done! Even when I was fumbling trying to get the groupon pulled up they were never annoyed or rushed. I think my favorite bagels were the Rosemary and the Everything Bagel. I’ll be back again and again.

I have been searching for a good bagel place since moving here and ended up driving 40 minutes round trip in the snow for my first experience. It was worth it! Nancy’s is cozy, welcoming and the kind of place you want to sit and stay awhile. More importantly, the bagels are fresh and the homemade cream cheese is an extra nice touch. It’s a lot of cream cheese, by the way, in case you’re the«like to swim in your cream cheese» type of gal like me. No shame. I love supporting small businesses and Nancy’s is one I now fully support.

Love this place! It’s become a breakfast staple for me at least once a week. All of the bagels are made in house and Nancy’s features some very unique and tasty bagel and cream cheese flavors. I love the honey walnut cream cheese. If it’s closer to lunchtime, there are plenty of bagel sandwiches on the menu, along with a rotating menu of fresh soups. The brownies and no-bake cookies are addictive. Nancy’s Bagels is one of the best things about Frankfort Avenue!

Delish bagels… a little odd u have to toast ur own but it is worth it… the vibe is cool and authentic inside… not like those other coffee shops with weirdos lurking about forever. They even made 2 dozen raisin cinamon bagels special for us… with no raisins… just the way my son eats them… thanx.

First things first: the bagels. They are very fresh and the perfect combo of barely crisp on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside. Nice selection of the standards like sesame, everything, honey oat, but also salt, tomato herb, etc. Delish. For $ 3.50 you can snag a bag of the day old bagels(still lovely). And if you’re wanting a quick lunch spot, throw some chicken salad, hummus, spicy turkey or whatever sandwich goodies you’re into on one of said bagels for $ 7.25−7.75. The spread of sweet treats is insane. So far, I’ve had a cookie and s goat cheese brownie. Both lovely. 2.50−3.50. I love the atmosphere here. Really cozy and comfortable with nice owners and employees as well as patrons. I always feel welcome whether in a group or enjoying my findings alone. If the prices were a touch lower this would be a 5-star, but a bagel sandwich and side or dessert is going to put you out approx $ 9 – 12, which is a smidge more than a regular lunch for me personally.

Not enough bang for my buck. I went to Nancy’s for lunch one day after hearing my friends talk abut how much they loved it. Well, come to find out they just love the bagels. Since it was lunchtime I was looking for a sandwich. I got spicy turkey with swiss on a multi-grain bagel. For the $ 8 I spent, I expected more than 2 small slices of turkeys. The sandwich din’t taste bad, there just simply wanst enough food for what I paid.

First off, I love supporting small local businesses so I thought I’d stop by Nancy’s and grab a bagel. The atmosphere inside is really cozy and welcoming. As I walked up to the counter I was second in line. I stood there for about 10 minutes as the customer and lady behind the counter had a full on conversation about their cell phones. She and several other workers knew I was there because I made eye contact with all of them. No one even acknowledged I was there. I would totally understand if they were busy, but there were honestly more workers than there were customers in the store and I still did not receive service. So finally after 10 minutes of awkwardly waiting and staring, I left, bagel-less. I hate giving this place two stars, because I’m sure their bagels are delicious, but I could not get any service.

I was in the Clifton neighborhood recently and literally wrenched my steering wheel to make a U-turn to go to Nancy’s. It was one of the places on my(ever-growing) list of restaurants to visit that I hadn’t checked out yet. To be fair, I also had a Groupon to Nancy’s that I had purchased and wanted to redeem. I have to hand it to Groupon for helping me find new favorite places in my own backyard every day. Situated near Varanese and next to J. Gumbo’s, Nancy’s has plenty of outdoor seating, which is a prerequisite for a great restaurant in Frankfort Ave. Once inside I appreciated how cozy it felt with the tables for 2 or 4. Service was prompt, and I was able to order a cup of gazpacho, a wrap, and a cookie with the Groupon that I had purchased. One definite plus was how excited the person helping me was when I said that I had a Groupon. I usually get a grimace or an eye roll, but she was thrilled that I had come in. My wrap was perfect, and perfectly personalized(no mayo — Dijon mustard instead), and the gazpacho hit the spot on a warm afternoon. Check out Nancy’s for yourself — with or without the help of a Groupon — and you might find a new favorite place as well!

Upon moving here 3 years ago for school, Nancy’s was one of the first places that I fell in love with in Louisville. And I swear I fall in love all over again each time I go! All sappiness aside, Nancy’s has everything you could possibly want in a local eatery. The staff is casual, laid back and super friendly. Nancy herself is frequently found behind the counter and you can tell she has a real connection with her regulars. There’s a new piece of trivia each day up at the ordering counter which just adds to the relaxed but fun atmosphere. Nancy’s frequently has art from local artists displayed on their walls and come on, what shows more Louisville love than that? Now about those bagels… they’re the best bagels I have ever tasted, and I am a carb fanatic! They’re made fresh everyday and you can even watch them make the bagels through a sort of «peeking window». These bagels have the perfect crunchable crust with a wonderfully fluffy bread interior. And let me tell you, they’ve got plenty of flavors to choose from: everything, sesame, poppy, cranbran, pumpernickel, salt, cinnamon raisin… just to name a few! Oh and their cream cheese is so beautifully simple, with only natural ingredients added. Did I mention they sell day-old bagels, six bagels for $ 3.50? Such a bargain and they still taste fresh! Nancy’s will forever be one of my favorite gems in Louisville. And as you can see, I never miss a chance to brag about them!

I was in Louisville for a week for work, and came here almost every day! There are not a lot of options for a quick lunch in this area, so I found this place and I am so glad I did. The bagels tasted very fresh. The lox bagel was amazing– with lots of cream cheese, tomato, onion, capers, and lettuce. I had chicken salad another day which was pretty good. The iced coffee and cappuccinos are great-strong and good flavor! My only real complaint was an amazing looking smores brownie that I bought to take home, but found to be pretty stale. If I’m back in Louisville I will definitely visit this place again!

we grabbed a quick bite here as well — again, were snobby about our bagels because we come from NYC, but Nancy’s were at least fluffy. The cream cheese came separate(i wish they would have told me — I didnt grab a knife from the counter before heading back to the hotel room so we used our fingers and dipped). My guy got a spinach-feta and I had the everything bagel. I LOVED mine — it was covered in seeds and garlic chips and every once in a while a little salt. Id recommend coming here over that Einstein’s place any day(except Nancy’s is closed on Sundays… just FYI). We also got a coffee here — both the iced and hot were tasty… you get to make it as you want it(cream, sugar). My only overall gripe is that i have to put the cream cheese on my bagel and make my own coffee… not sure why the prices are so steep for them to just hand me a bagel.

I guess there’s no such thing as a gluten-free bagel and Unfortunately there are no vegan cream cheese substitutes. However, I have to rate this place on what they do have, since the goods are good. 1. The oven you get to see bagels going into and coming out of is mouthwateringly toasty. Mmmm you can smell them turning golden brown. 2. Chewy goodness. 3. The cream cheese is just the right amount of tangy thickness you’ll need to make your jaws stick together after a big bite: YUM! Plus, they’re local and 1000% awesome!

This is one of my favorite neighborhood joints. Delicious bagels, strong coffee, and plenty of seating by the window for people-watching. It has a private lot, so if parallel parking on Frankfort freaks you out — fear not. The line moves quickly, even in the busiest of mornings. There’s a wide variety of bagels to select from, as well as cream cheeses. They’ll ask if you want the cc on the side, and that’s because they don’t toast it for you. After check out, you can go to the toaster/utensils bar for your needs. They really hook you up on the cc & that is totally okay with me. These are the best bagels in Louisville, and if you decide shell out a few bucks here, you’ll quickly agree.

Came here with a groupon deal to try something new. They have a wide variety of bagel selections and homemade cream cheese. I had the tomato herb bagel with egg salad, very big bagel sandwich and messy to eat. They have wraps which looked pretty tasty too. No egg breakfast sandwich though. was a bit disappointed on that. They also serve coffee, smoothies, and an assortment of baked goods. Laid back atmosphere. Limited outdoor seating.
