This is easily the best bagel in Louisville. They have great creativity with their sandwich flavors and great options for all meals. Their sweet flavor bagels are amazing. The only knocks are the service is a little slow and they tend to run out of a lot of bagels quickly. I still come back for more.

Very disappointing. I went this morning for the first time. They didn’t have coffee; I was told they were«out.» Then I was warned that they had a very limited bagel selection because they were«out of a lot of things right now.» Against my better judgment I went ahead and ordered a breakfast bagel sandwich. I got the Kevin Bacon on the recommendation of the staff. It was supposed to be bacon, scrambled eggs and cheese on an onion bagel. What I got was way too salty bacon, that tasted like bacon bits, with an overdone omelette(in no way could the eggs meet any common description of «scrambled») and cheese on a soggy onion bagel that was absolutely covered in grease. I paid $ 8(including tip) for this bad bagel sandwich. I’ll not be going back.

Awful and unfortunate. Every time I am in town I stop by when visiting because it is in a convenient location. Without fail, this place is always out of something. For example, two days in a row without eggs — I get it though there is a nationwide egg shortage impacting the four grocery stores within 2 miles… lox is what you want? Nope, she just told a woman to go to one of those grocery stores! And bagels… you might come here for bagels, but they get them from the big olé«New York City!» and she let us know its going to be a week and a half before they get a shipment of those hard to find plain, wheat or cheddar bagels — if only Louisville had a UPS nearby…

Me: …but can I get it on a bagel? Hipster Behind Counter: Um, it’s a bagel shop.(Snide looks to hipster coworker) All our sandwiches are on bagels. Me: oh. It says it comes in a bialy. HBC: psht.(Snider look to coworker) A bialy is a bagel.(HBC and coworker chuckle) Me: … So put aside the attitude and that the employees of the so-called bagel shop(the sign claims«bagels and wraps») don’t know what a bialy is(if you think it’s a bagel, google it), the«steamed bagel sandwiches» are soggy and bland. Actually, don’t put the attitude and ignorance aside. It fits in quite nicely with everything else here. Baby D’s needs to grow up.

I think it’s kind of expensive for the food you’re getting but high-five for hangover food. Next time I would get delivery and not eat outside on the hot patio. Bagel sandwich was good for what I wanted but not sure I’d go back

The ‘Hipster’ is pretty awesome! But the price is a bit high for a bagel sandwich.

I love a good bagel breakfast sandwich, and this place doesn’t disappoint. The only downside is that there is very limited seating inside, so most of your food has to be to go. They don’t skimp on the egg either, most bagel sandwiches are pretty big.

Always good options. Always a good selection of innovative bagels. Always love coming here for some comfort food. Not a lot of space to sit down. But definitely worth it.

You know, I used to really like this place. Despite the bagels not being made in house, they still have a pretty good selection of ingredients to choose from if you want to go the build-your-own route, or a great(and massive) list of predesigned sandwiches. I went in a week or so ago to get their«Baby Griddle» — scrambled eggs, sausage, cheddar cheese in a French toast bagel with a side of maple syrup. One of my favorites. Well last time they didn’t have sausage, which is fine. This time? After literally a 20 minute wait(it wasn’t busy and they had 3 people crammed in their tiny kitchen), I receive a sandwich with undercooked sausage. By undercooked I mean, the sausage is pink and red and mushy. Just seared? Barely more than raw. I’ve worked in a restaurant for 9 years… I know what cooked sausage looks like. I brought it to the attention of the counter girl, who before even looking at the sausage told me matter-of-factly«we bake our sausage for 45 minutes». That’s well and good. Next time how about you look at the product before telling the customer(who is a cook) that he’s wrong. I won’t be back, as their service has steadily decreased over time anyway, and I will be sure to let my fellow foodie and sandwich shop enthusiasts this place doesn’t care about pleasing the customer, or apparently the overall safety of the food they’re serving. Get your game together, guys.

I went to Baby D’s at the request of a friend so I wouldn’t have checked this place out otherwise. My first trip there and it took me forever to find parking during lunch time. The menu can be quite overwhelming for a newbie like myself. I got the Cali Dream, soda, and a small potato salad. It was right at $ 10; not exactly cheap for what I got. It took about 10 minutes to get my food after eating so don’t go if you’re strapped for time. That being said, the sandwich was very flavorful with fresh ingredients. Despite some of the negatives, the food was pretty good and deserves 4 stars.

The good points first: –the Dazey May and Cali Dream were delicious the last two times we ate them. –if you call in early, you will most likely be one of the few and get waited on promptly* –they have vegetarian options** –it’s always good to eat local The bad points: -*the service SUCKS! I mean it’s REALLY, really bad. When you call in an order, sometimes they answer their phone, sometimes you get a busy signal. It’s never consistent. -*The service again. I think a couple of qualifications you have to have in order to work here is to constantly be stoned and have a dead look in your eye. Also, they are very good at ignoring anyone who walks through the door.(There is this one employee every time I go in there that is absolutely useless. He wears glasses and just stands around slackjawed). -*Whoa! Wait! It’s the service again! We called in an order well ahead of noon, they said it would take 10 minutes. It took me at least 20 minutes to get there. I came in and had to wait at least another 25 minutes. They hadn’t even started it yet. There were only two other people ahead of me and like 4 people behind the counter. This happened twice. -*BUT: We lucked out once when we ordered in the morning. Our order was ready to go. -**the vegetarian options are mediocre. The Greek one is just two types of cheese, black olives and tomatoes. They need to be recreated. –Like others have said, the prices are way too high. One bagel, a cup of soup and a drink can run at least $ 15. Damn. Not worth it. –it’s a hit or miss on the quality of your bagel. One order I got was soggy and gross. Conclusion: My boyfriend doesn’t like breakfast food so we have turned to Baby D’s on more than one occasion to appease him since they open early. I always try to talk him out of it, but Louisville has such limited selections that aren’t chains we always end up here. That said, we have lucked out and had some pretty good bagels a couple of times. The SERVICE is pitiful. I can’t believe they have the nerve to stick a tip jar on the counter with the sh** job they do. I’m sure the employees hate their jobs(and their lives?), but that isn’t my fault. The manager/owner/whoever needs to hire better people. Won’t be heading back there any time soon. Or at least, until we’ve heard they’ve cleaned up their act.

Let me start by saying my three star rating is in concern to my ENTIRE experience at Baby D’s and is not solely predicated on the quality of food. I found the restaurant to be more of a take out than a dine in. Not kid friendly at all. They have ONE high chair that they had to fetch from the basement. There’s no kid’s menu, we had them share a plain a bagel(2,1). The service was fair. Workers were generally friendly, brought us our food, and that was it. The food was good. Based on food alone, I’d give it 4 stars. But kind of pricey considering what you’re getting. So far as I could tell, there weren’t any combo meals(chips+drink). My sandwich(do you still call it a sandwich if it’s on a bagel?) was $ 7.25 w/nothing. Meaning, with chips and drink, you’re looking at $ 10/meal. Kind of pricey for a takeout lunch spot. I may come back, but don’t think we will be frequent patrons based on price and seating accommodations.

A-MAZING. Baby D’s really is as good as it gets. There’s lots of variety and has something for everyone. The brisket sandwiches are to die for and the bagels are soft and chewy. Definitely worth the trip

This is really close to our new digs, so had to be checked out. I was impressed with the inventive names for all of various bagels concoctions. There were a variety of meat choices, veggie and of course, breakfast(what I ordered). It was a little pricier than I thought it would be. Partially because There was a menu on a chalkboard and no prices next to it.(I did later see a menu on the glass table, which seemed to have prices). All in all pleasant. Some sitting room not a whole ton, but perfect for the spot. I got a blueberry bagel with peanutbutter, honey and bananas on it, which hit the spot. It was delightful. I felt like a child which was exactly what I needed. Lol. Btw, we ordered soup(which became left overs), my bagel, a turkey bagel sandwich, mexican coke, o. j, which was around $ 20ish dollars to give an idea of prices. I will be back to try out lunch sandwiches tho!

Great place!!! We had the following: Kevin Bacon, Kentucky Proud Lox, Reuben and a BEC(that’s a kid favorite: bagel, egg & cream cheese). Everything was fantastic, fresh and flavorful. We would certainly be regulars if we lived in Louisville.

Where do you go when you wake up a tad too hung over to remember to do call ahead seating for Toast and don’t wanna wait? Baby D’s. Ok, so you don’t have to wait to be seated or to order at Baby D’s but the other half of the battle rages on: the wait for your food. I’m sad to report that, after three visits to this place now, there is usually more than six minutes of separation between me and my Kevin Bacon Bacon. It’s more like 15 :(Not perfection, but still a hell of a lot better than most brunch joints in town. Well, if you can consider this place a brunch joint. I think I will. I always wanna order based on the names I like rather than the ingredients, but everything I’ve had so far has been undeniably good. Double points! Also of note: the bagels are steamed so you can actually bite through them without feeling like you have to chomp through that hard bagel shell. They have an inordinate amount of drink choices including Rooibe Red Tea, Vitamin water, organic juices and organic Kool-Aid, beer and water. Water upon entering a place for breakfast/brunch on a weekend is where it’s at. Wild Eggs, please take note. Thank you Baby D’s.

Based on the Unilocal reviews, I stopped in for breakfast with the family while staying in Louisville. Baby D’s has fantastic breakfast bagel sandwiches! I had the Gonzo. Brisket in a bagel and egg sandwich? Yes, they do. My wife and kids had the Hipster, Honey Badger and Texting While Driving. All were outstanding. They also have an interesting line up of lunch sandwiches but it just wasn’t that time of day. The place is small but interesting and the service is great. I highly recommend it.

The fun thing about a new business opening in one’s own neighborhood is watching it grow before your eyes. After commenting that he hadn’t found a decent bagel in this town, my boyfriend was happy to point out that the soon to open Baby D’s had a sign on their window announcing«Authentic New York City Bagels.» Their windows also displayed the«Kentucky Proud» and«Heine Brothers» logos. It certainly had potential, so we eagerly awaited the opening. And it turns out, they really do mean, «Authentic New York City Bagels,» because that’s where their bagels come from. My boyfriend and I agree that it’d be more interesting if they were made in house, but in spite of the distance traveled, it’s still a reasonably good bagel, at least for the steamed sandwiches Baby D’s sells. As you may expect with bagels, breakfast is a strong point; I had the Honey Badger(peanut butter, honey & banana on a blueberry bagel – although I substituted a plain bagel for the blueberry) and Matt had the Daisy May(friend egg and American cheese on a plain bagel and a darn fine breakfast sandwich). I didn’t want to let my Unilocal peeps down by writing a review based on only one visit, so I took one for the team(it’s good work that I do) and went back for lunch. I tried The Highlander(tuna salad with cucumber, tomato, sprouts and cheese). It was also good. I was a little surprised to find it was also steamed. I guess I just wasn’t expecting warm tuna salad since I didn’t order the melt. No complaints though. To get an idea of their spreads, I have also tried a plain bagel with cinnamon and walnut cream cheese. Also tasty. Overall, Baby D’s is a nice addition to the neighborhood. Go in for breakfast, lunch, or a late night snack on Friday or Saturday.* Laugh at their menu with references to local landmarks, movies, and internet memes. Enjoy a sandwich. *They’re still working out their exact hours. You should be good on weekdays 7am-3pm, and it looks like they are open 9pm-4am on Friday and Saturday. Don’t quote me on that though. Also not sure of weekend daytime hours or dinner hours, if any.
