This is one of the first places I went to for a quick meal. I had a Turkey Rueben on rye with cole slaw. «FRESH» Quick service from a friendly waitress! Best Prices for what it’s worth.

Stopped by for brunch while on business. I was looking for something easy and vegetarian friendly. On a Monday at 10am, I was pretty much the only person there. The menu is nothing special, typical diner food. The place seems a bit old and crusty but nothing you wouldn’t see at a jersey/Philly diner. I got my usual go to brunch: a veggie omelette, toast, and hashbrowns. It was a little greasey but I’ll live. The omelette veggies seemed pretty fresh. The coffee was good, which they kept refilling at a good rate. I was going to leave it at that but when the waitress dropped my check she mentioned the pie jars. I figured what the heck and got the apple flavor. Omg, it was delicious. It was warm and had just the right amount of whipped cream. I might go back just to try another flavor! My total with 2 cents shy of 20% tip(which is printed on the check for reference) was $ 16.50. I think that’s a little expensive but worth it

It’s been almost a year since Pete’s has opened and a few things have changed. Since their grand opening they have updated their menus from shabby chic paper menus to standard plastic lined inserts variety. They added a salad bar. Sadly they have also raised their prices. I still enjoy their atmosphere and stop in roughly once a month or so I can help but feel a little shafted every time I go in. Something always seems to go wrong, whether they are out of something I was craving(once it was classic Coke!) or burn my bacon it.

3 of us went there for a late lunch. I had buffalo chicken salad, the other 2 had pork tenderloin sandwich. Everything was good and served in a timely manner. Salad bar was fully stocked. Nice place to eat.

We have been wanting to pop in at Pete’s and finally did Our first impression any where is how good the coffee is and how attentive wait staff is Our coffee was delicious and we have been blessed with a new acquaintance Leona who is ADOREABLE Hubby had the full order of biscuits and gravy he liked it even tho it was different than what he has tried in past it had some crushed red pepper flakes which added some ZIP and as anyone know B&G is something that is hard to eat hot thru whole serving but still was Tasty thumbs up! I had a delcious omlet and it was so nice all the ingredients were plentiful AND fresh I appreciate having one serving of toast and hash browns were crispy outside hot and steamy inside We will defiantly be stopping in again!!!

The waffles where to die for and the service was fast and friendly. The hash browns unfortunately tasted frozen but all around pretty good.

I’m not saying this is how Pete’s came to exist, but here is how it could: if you took a line cook from a chain breakfast joint — the kind that does not have a chef — and seed this dude with the desire for autonomy but no real interest in food outside its ability to get him that control over his destiny.(He needs freedom especially from the corporation that taught him these very familiar recipes.) if you said to him, «Here’s a tiny town where there are no [insert name of chain restaurant], where rents are almost zero and where the locals don’t have super snooty standards. Here there are no damn locovores; and if at any point in the future there ever *are* locovores, all they could get is corn and soybeans; they would die of boredom in three weeks. Maybe you should start your own kitchen, right here.» Voila, Pete’s Diner. It always seems to me that diners outside of big cities are more about the wait staff than the food. They have to be. You have to be able to go there after a few drinks and get some salty protein, non-alcoholic fluids and some sass from the waitress. This diner is not open around the time that you might need that kind of revival, so perhaps it is unfair of me to expect, but I’m trying to look for something other than food to say something good about. But… while Pete’s may have some funny, friendly or sassy wait staff, the young man who helped at our table, while competent delivering food, had the affect of a confused piece of cardboard. Blank looks. Slow responses. General helplessness. We had to ask for the check, and when we paused trying to tell him how to divide it up(which was admittedly harder now that everyone at my 10-person table had given up waiting to pay and was milling about), he backed up and wandered off without saying a word.(I actually think he was tallying the check, but since there was no communication about that, he could have been texting, «help!» to his friends. Or on Facebook.) I would go back to Pete’s. The food is good in the way The Pancake House is good: predictably. But if you like interesting or fun breakfasts, bring interesting or fun people.

Affordable prices. A wide selection of diner food items. The service was also pretty good.

What a great surprise! Needed to fuel up my teenager for a swim meet and Pete’s was great! Full menu available 24 hours — great food and excellent service from our server«Tim». We don’t get to Lafayette often, but this cool little place will be on our list when do. Just what you would expect from a diner!

Pete’s Diner is a perfect addition to downtown Lafayette. We came here the first morning after we moved into our new house. Read: no groceries yet. We came with our 2 kiddos and everything was so great! They had high chairs and boosters available and accessible. Our waitress was super! Very friendly and accommodating. The food was good. We all left full and happy. Success.

Let me tell you, I have had a lot of disgusting late night food in my life. I have shoved White Castle sliders down my throat with no remorse. I have been to a hundred diners that serve up pretty nasty food. Rarely have I ever not finished food though. Pete’s Diner was nasty. Their cornbread was rotten, and a strange soupy texture. Everything was pretty dirty looking. I stopped eating. I almost never stop eating.

Fantastic breakfast menu. Chicken and waffles. A special French toast breakfast sandwich. Pork chops and eggs. A breakfast Rueben. Setting is a bit Spartan. But really nice selection of items. They even made me a special egg white omelet. Took my 95 year old father there a day after first visit. They gave him an apple strudel and sang happy birthday. Beware that they are liberal with jalapeños Tell them to remove all peppers if this isn’t your style.

I had a quite nice experience here getting some midnight bacon and eggs, yum. Very chill spot. The server seemed new but was super polite, professional, and attentive, I was impressed.

This is a much needed place in the downtown area. They are open 24hrs and serve breakfast at all time. The place is very simple with furniture that looks like it’s from the late 60’s or early 70’s. The prices were fair but I thought that some of the breakfast sides were a bit smaller than most places.

I’ve been here twice now. The 1st time was their opening weekend and things didn’t go that smoothly, but I didn’t let that bother me. I figured they were still working out the kinks. The most recent time going was fantastic. The server was attentive and nice. We got our food quickly. I was super excited because they have vegetarian biscuits and gravy… I have never been able to order biscuits and gravy at a restaurant in Indiana because it’s usually sausage gravy. I will be returning to have my favorite breakfast food!

I think they are still finding their rhythm and getting the hang of things, but the food is delicious for a 24 hour diner, and we should all eat here as much as we can to make sure we have a place like this in Lafayette.

We stopped in for a quick bite to eat tonight. It was our first time in. It’s big, open, and has a fairly simple design. There are large tables that could accommodate larger groups. It’s nice that it’s open 24 hours because there aren’t a lot of places downtown Lafayette open late. It’s very inexpensive. We ordered our food at 7:00 p.m. and it was out by 7:15 p.m. There were maybe eight other people in the diner. Pretty speedy, in my opinion. It’s your typical diner fare with breakfast and dinner options, appetizers, desserts, etc. I got the burger which was only $ 4.99, and it came with a side. You can add bacon for $ 0.50. I chose fries as my side. They had quite a lot of side options actually. It was pretty good. I wouldn’t pay more for what I got, but it’s way better than McDonald’s. It’s not as greasy as steak n’ shake, so that’s a definite win for me. The meat in the burger was somewhat tough, but it just might have been slightly overcooked. The edges were crispy like I like, and they’re two small thin patties like steak n’ shake. The burger isn’t huge, but for the price I’m not complaining. My husband got a sandwich called the Rachel and a side of fries. He said it was alright. I’d give it more if a 3.5 out of five because it’s pretty average diner food, but still pretty tasty. I really liked the fries because they weren’t greasy and over seasoned. It’s priced just right for me though. We’ll definitely go there again.

Our dining(or lack of) experience at Pete’s Diner was an absolute joke. It is beyond obvious that ownership and management cannot prepare simple breakfast food in under one hour. Ownership/management is defensive, rude and ill-equipped to serve more than four people at a time. If you are hungry, want an enjoyable dining experience in a reasonable amount of time, ANYWHERE would better than this place. BADSERVICE is better than NOSERVICE. I can only assume that only one Bunsen burner was available in the kitchen. One hour after ORDERING, our food was nowhere near being served to our table. I haven’t had to WALKOUT of many restaurants, but this was one of them.
