Asahi Sushi has friendly service, fresh sushi and very delicious!

I love this place! I prefer here over Joes and Niko Niko. I love the prices on the Large asian beers like Asahi beers, and they are very nice too. My rolls always are on point, I would have given them 5 stars however i just feel like they cut the sushi too wide, they need to be a roll with the same size cuts and not one or two random big ass rolls.

not all you can eat, quality is bearable. edamame first served when sat down, was served cold and pre-​made. very dark and dim inside, and terrible service. have fun who ever comes here.

I decided to come here because of this Unilocal offer and I noticed the poor service right away which was frustrating, and also, the prices are not very reasonable if your ordering a dinner plate which was discouraging for me and my family and that Unilocal offer didn’t really give us any kind of advantage towards our dinning trip, so I would say the Unilocal deal is great if you don’t mind slow, poor service and you want to drink alcohol and eat rolls, but other than that, this place is over rated and I will not be returning here.

Slow service. Too expensive. Food so-​so. I’d recommend Joe’s sushi down the street. Joe’s has all you can eat at a reasonable price and the food is much better.

I give this place one star, the waitress ran after me bickering and Unilocaling because I didn’t leave a tip. She’s lucky I did call the cops for harassment!!! Definitely boycotting this restaurant, I’m spreading the word to all my friends and family!!!

Food is good, but the service is horrible. We had an issue with our bill being overcharged and it ended up turning into a situation where our server was laughing at us telling us how she was right and we were wrong. I don’t know what kind of business asahi is running but in the restaurants I serve in the customer is always right. Me being a regular I was a bit disappointed in the way we were treated. Even with the manager having the same attitude as our server we were being forced to pay for something that we didn’t even order. I don’t think I’ll go back to this place even with me once being a regular.

HORRIBLE SERVICE. Overpriced sushi for not good quality sushi. server with the bowl haircutt was extremely rude and did not pay attention to us at all. We had asked her how much sake was and she had told us it was 3.99 but when we received the bill it was 13.99 we had tried talking to the manager about the miscommunication she had told us and he still sided with the server. In my opinion the customer is always right…, at this place customers do not mean anything to them all they care about is the money. DO NOT go here.

I like this place. The service is good and fast! The food and drinks are standard price, place is clean. I wish they would switch the music though but once you get drinks in you, I guess it does not matter. I love the two caterpillar roll options, they have great oyster shots too. The chefs rule!

My husband and I moved to Whittier so we Unilocal to find places. This place had a deal so we decided to try it. It was ok. Too dark for me. I had to use my phone light to see the menu. The sushi was good. Friendly service.

I randomly came across this place while driving around for a sushi spot for dinner and overall, the place was decent.
I sat at the sushi bar and had a few rolls along with sushi for dinner and the food wasn’t the freshest I ever tried but it definitely wasn’t the worst.
They have a nice happy hour menu and the food is good, the sushi men were very polite and the server was on point with service!
Would I eat here again? Yes.

I wasn’t very impressed. The rolls were mediocre and the price was high for dinner. I used the Unilocal deal but we still paid almost $ 80 for four rolls, a coke, and a juice for the baby. The lunch special makes this place more affordable (I’ve been here for lunch too) but it’s nothing to write home about. Brightside? No food poisoning. I always give bonus points for sushi places that avoid that!

I got a baked salmon roll, but they call it something else. It was cold :(. Service gets a 2. The place had maybe 3 other sets of people so they weren’t busy. So yeah I was pretty disappointed, and won’t go back

I came in here on a late weekday about an hour before closing, the food was really good. I had the LADY GAGA ROLL and it was excellent. The only down side to this place is that it is pretty expensive and I probably wouldn’t come again, because I can go to another place for less, that tasted the same.

My coworker & I came to Asahi for our lunch hour. There were 3 tables occupied & a small family sitting at the bar. With so few people, I would’ve thought the service would be top notch. That was not the case. It took 15 minutes for the lady to take our order & an eternity for us to get our food. My iced tea was sour. My coworkers dish was not right but he ate it, as we had no time to wait for them to make it again. The two rolls I ordered were delicious, however, I needed to request my lobster roll to be made «to go.»
If you have unlimited time to sit around & wait for the server to count the cash drawer, and make trips to the kitchen, this is your place. Drink the soda, it’s less likely to be left out for days to sour.
I did get a menu to keep at work. Maybe I’ll call in my order if I decide to visit again.

Our family tried this out since the restaurant had the $ 20 for $ 30 deal on Unilocal.The ambiance was just okay. They were playing R&B music in the background. Lighting was too dark and the restaurant had that «gloomy» feeling. They turned off the lights on the left side of the restaurant; I guess because there were not enough customers to fill that side of the restaurant… We were seated right away since only 2 – 3 tables were being used in total on the right side of the restaurant. It is a spacious place good for big groups…
We ordered the lunch special — Choose 3 items for $ 11.99. There were plenty of options to choose from. We tried the Bulgogi (ok), Beef Teriyaki (yumm), Sesame Chicken (super yummy), Shrimp Tempura Roll (wow, huge!), Sashimi combo (ok), California rolls (ok), and Spicy Tuna Roll (ok)… The best one was the Sesame Chicken! Maybe because I like Honey Mustard and it had that as sauce… The portion per serving was a lot. I believe 2 people can share a plate…
It was good food but will not go back a second time. There are other plenty of Sushi places around the area to choose from.

We used the $ 30 for $ 20 deal.
We were seated right away as there is plenty of room there.
We were given complimentary miso soups and an order of edamame! That was a great first impression.
we ordered the red dragon roll and the rainbow roll. they were delicious. and also we ordered the california roll. a simple roll, yet AMAZING!!!
Definitely coming back.

Hands down my favorite sushi bar.
Lobster roll is simply amazing, el salvadorian mango roll is a must have, and the sushi chefs are awesome
