Second time here and I’m kind of disappointed… the overall vibe I got was just very rude. I arrived 30mins prior to closing but apparently the kitchen closed down early. However they said they could«do one more order of chicken». I came for chicken, so I agreed but I wish I had just left because even if you have decided to close early, customer service should still be a little bit of a priority. There were still about seven other customers present and I felt completely rushed and disregarded. I will not be returning to any of the Timmy chan establishments based off this one experience… just left with a really bad taste in my mouth, lol. I don’t know, maybe I am being sensitive but I feel like despite my smile and mild manner, the cashier was unnecessarily rude and actually loud with her«only one more 6pc chicken». Anywhoo, probably should have just went to Popeye’s, next time I’m in the mood for fried chicken, I will and you should too.

Fried chicken wings had a little kick, which made me fondly reminisce about my days in Nashville and hot fried chicken. Meals are pretty affordable but the whole setup is a laid back diner. Fried rice is a little greasy but tasty. For the dollar worth it’s overall pretty decent. Did not venture too far on the menu though.

Really good fried chicken and fried fish. A humble place, clean and quick with no frills. Pretty glad I came, and would like to return.

Stopped here when staying at the nearby Crowne Plaza for an event at NEG Stadium. You can tell from the outside that this isn’t what I would necessarily call«food». The inside is outdated and cleanliness is questionable. The staff was kind and helpful. The food was over done or underdone depending on the item. We each had the breakfast special with ham, eggs, bacon, sausage and hash browns. They were out of grits and oatmeal so I had extra hash browns. Another companion had some sort of Chinese noodle dish. Odd concept. Affordable. Convenient. For the convenience it was worth it, but there are better options nearby.

This restaurant is not your typical Chinese restaurant because it is probably most famous for its fried chicken. It is a great place for cheap Chinese food with a side of perfectly fried chicken wings. You order at the counter and wait for your food there. Portions are generous. Not a place I would want to have a date at but good enough for some decent fried chicken.

Timmy Chan is a hidden treasure! I’ve seen it numerous times while driving, but I never went in because it looked sketchy from the outside. I’m so glad I decided to give it a try on my search for a breakfast place. On this particular visit, I ordered the Chicken and Waffles. The quality was pretty amazing for the price. The portions and flavor were pretty similar to The Breakfast Klub, but at half the price. The chicken was so flavorful and perfectly crisp. The waffles were so soft on the inside, but crispy on the outside. Timmy Chan is so good and affordable. I will be sure to make more visits in the future to try the lunch and dinner options. I’m already ready for their wings again!

I stopped by Timmy Chan for a quick bite on the way to NRG Stadium. I got the chicken wings and fries and a 24oz kool-aid for $ 10. The chicken was right out of the fryer so it was super crispy and hot. The meat was juicy and well seasoned. There were eight large wings, so much that I couldn’t finish them and still left super full. The fries were normal food service fries but they were properly cooked and crispy. It was odd to see kool-aid on the menu but it was a fun addition to the meal. Service was quick and friendly but the dining room had quite a few unbussed tables. I would definitely go again and I would love to have the wings for breakfast. They are as good as Breakfast Klub and much easier to get into.

This place is definitely in need of a remodel but the food is inexpensive and the potions are large. The buffalo wings have a spicy sticky sweet sauce that is really good, the lo mein and fried rice are good but very garlicky. The beef with broccoli is also good. We tried the fried butterfly shrimp the other night though and were very disappointed. The shrimp was pounded so flat that we couldn’t even tell we were eating shrimp. We would go back again though.

As I mentioned with in my check in, the food is good. The ambience is non-existent. The staff is dry and unfriendly. This isnt a place to go for family dinner. However, its a great spot to pick up food on the way home. I typically get the wings. They are spicy and flavorful. And I like thr combination fried rice. They come ina combo.

When staying at the hotel next door we came to Timmy Chan’s for breakfast and it was delicious and affordable. I had the Pork Chops and Eggs. It came with a bowl of grits. Boyfriend had the big breakfast and gave me his pancakes. Those were pretty tasty. Pretty sure the Chicken wings and waffle is the most popular item on the menu. We also came back later for dinner and I had the seafood Combo which came with two fried tilapia filets and 6 jumbo fried shrimps, a couple of hushpuppies and either French fries or fried rice. The service is a bit slow, but the food is good. Not really good FORYOU… just good. Its not about the service, its not about the atmosphere, its all about the food. Good prices, very affordable. They got it right with the location. Right next to the hotel where the hotel restaurant food is super overpriced.

I still don’t know how i feel about this place. Maybe i just love Asian food too much to really apprentice this place. You get a huge amount of some really cheap quality Chinese food lol. Thats the best way to describe it, cheap price and cheap quality. I’ve been here 2 times and i will give it one more shot but so far i’m not very impressed with this place.

I have been here a few times with a friend who loves the place… I have had the lomein and buffalo wings with fried rice… I was not impressed with either… It is pretty cheap for the amount of food that you get, but I guess you get what you pay for… The«buffalo» wings are pretty much deep fried wings that are glazed in a General Tso’s sauce… They are very sweet and full of sugar with no spice at all… If you like deep fried and sweet sugary food this place may be for you.

Freakin’ best chicken wings in town for the price you pay. Had a wing party with friends. Vs. Be3 wings and things and kfc. OTC was juicier, bigger, and more flavor than the rest. Granted I like them without sauce, these rock.

Come on… what’s not to love? Six juicy wings and a tub of fried rice for a few bucks? Umm, yes please! Sure it’s bad for you, but every once in awhile you gotta take it back to 2005 and party down like Paul Wall and Slim Thugga and get you some Timmy Chans! Seriously, forget your stereotypes and B.S. for five minutes and try this place if you wanna tear up some great comfort food. You’ll be glad you did. Good taste, cheap price, and massive portions… what you know about that?

Disfunkingusting, didnt have enough money for the SUPERB fried chicken on 46th n Almeda + left my card home so drove anxious allllllllllllll the way here based on misleading pix for OILYTASTELESS SOULless poison food like that which Bey and Gaga feed in the diner, that kind of — I know this will make me sick/bubbleguts — slimey food. Shrimp batter was that stale dough’ey dry bread taste. half way thru i know im still hungry and start longing for vegetables so I can flush this mosh out of my system and start plotting where to go/eat to get rid of the awfullness in my mouth. That AWFULAWFULAWFUL review was dead on. waste of 10 bucks, chicken was that hormone, fried hair sticking out of the skin kind with the yellow lard fat visible when u bite in… YUKCKKKKKKKKKKKKIMDONE. Even the koolaid slush syrup was left ¾ full

AWFULAWFULAWFUL. I did not eat waffles or wings. This review is based on «Chinese food» served here. I didn’t think you could prepare food in a way that completely extracts the flavor from it. Timmy Chan has figured it out. One bite of the Kung Pao and I wondered — «was this food?» Another bite and after a millisecond of mild flavor, it was gone. I tried my wife’s meal — same issue. Truly no flavor. Not BAD flavor, NOFLAVOR. Timmy Chan’s bland offerings haunt my sleep. I have waking nightmares of flavorless carrots and plastic celery. I tried to upload a photograph of empty space to Unilocal,to signify what Timmy Chan’s food tastes like, but Unilocal rejected it. I know what you’re thinking — had I scorched my tastebuds on hot lava before the meal? Did I sandpaper my tongue before I walked in? No. I was primed for food. Salivating. I was ripe for receiving the garlic, ginger, herbaceous, salty, sweet notes of a great Chinese meal. DENIED. I was denied, and so should Timmy Chan. He should be denied a business license.

The Chicken and waffles weren’t even close to the perfectness that breakfast klub serves up. The chicken was dry and the waffle was just a normal continental breakfast hotel waffle. I was trying to be healthy and ordered the oatmeal, but it came out SUPER liquidy. I had to spoon out the oatmeal from the white liquid and the work didn’t even pay off, since the oatmeal didn’t taste all that great. Serves me right for trying to be healthy. never doing that again. I think this place is good for getting a nice Texas sized portion of food for the money you put in… but other than that, I don’t think id come again.

«Chin-ee food; no soul food here!» «I didn’t say soul food, I said better food. How you gon’ sell a big box of grease?» «I no punk bitch!» «I ain’t no punk bitch either. I’ll knock yo hat off!» If there are any fellow Rush Hour fans here that recognize this comical little back-and-forth, then you’ll see how my fascination with Chinese Soul food began. And although Timmy Chan’s isn’t exacting dishing out«camel’s hump» or «eel» in little Chinese take-out boxes, they’re frying up some crispy chicken wings ‘n waffles, greasy fried rice, and all-around good HOOD food. Sadly though, I think all these raving reviews and tantalizing pictures set me up for high expectations. We had no intention of dining in, but idk if anyone would want to. The restaurant space is old and bare, and it smelled like dirty mop water and bleach. Oh well, the take-out portions are bigger anyway! We ordered combination fried rice w/6pc chicken wings to-go and although the portion size was indeed HUGE(and only for about $ 10 too!), the food wasn’t anything special. Wings were crispy enough; a little tough and dry at some parts… but what really annoyed me is that there’s no option to get your wings spicy. Shouldn’t that be a given these days? On top of that, the rice was dry and generic. Two meals later and we still have half a box of it left… which would be awesome if it was actually tasty. However, there are two things that stand out for me: 1. Kool-Aid slushie. Your inner child will thank you. 2. The lone, small Asian cashier manning the counter. This area isn’t the best, and the fact that this tiny young girl is holding down the entire Timmy Chan fort blows my mind beyond belief. Here’s to hoping she has a shotgun hidden somewhere in that fluffy teddy-bear sweater of hers.

Whatchu know about Timmy Chan’s foooo? I’ve been coming here ever since my family moved to Houston, which has been over 10 years now. And this place is the first place I went to after I came home for Thanksgiving break. Timmy Chan’s is one of a kind. It’s the only place I can think of where you can get chicken and waffles and shrimp fried rice at the same time. Their chicken wings aren’t like others — they keep the wing and drumstick attached so each wing is a whole deep-fried Z of crunchy, slightly spicy chicken goodness. The staples here, in my opinion, are the fried rice + chicken wing combos.(The waffles thing is somewhat new compared to their original menu) But they have all the old Chinese restaurant favorites too — my personal fave from that selection is the Mongolian beef. The only reason I wouldn’t give this place 5 stars is because the prices have gone up. Back then(when hoes didn’t want me) you could get a shrimp fried rice + 4 wings for 3.99. That would feed an entire immigrant family. Nowadays, it’s like 7 bucks. Still the same great recipes, though.
