Steer N Stein

This is one of my favorite places to eat in Hemet. The food and service both are excellent. I always order the steak and shrimp. The steak melts in your mouth! Don’t take my word for it, check it out yourself and enjoy!

Never disappointed with my food here. We always get a Super stockyard meal. I order mine with potato skins every time. even though its not listed as a side choice & you get 2. My hubby orders a baked potato with everything, he says its great.
The only thing I don’t like is on the kids menu the Teriyaki «kabobs» you only get 1 kabob lol & some fries which my son complains about every time. I wish they had a «bigger kids» selection. or at least a smaller steak option I could get him.
Other then that its a great place to get a juicy steak!

Went to Steer n Stein for dinner tonight after not having been there for years (i moved out of state) and it did not disappoint! It’s simple steak house fare; nothing fancy. But if you want a tender, well seasoned steak and baked potato this is the place for you.
About the food:
I was starving when I walked in and was tempted to order the steak and ribs, but decided to stick with the 70z specialty steak. I’m glad I did! Between salad, baked potato, steak and bread I had plenty of food! Ordered my steak Medium and it was slightly more on the medium rare side (but I’m not complaining! Rather have it more towards med-​rare than be over cooked!). My friend got his (pepper steak) medium as well and it was perfectly cooked. I got a salad with ranch and was pleasantly surprised by the size of the salad. So many places give you tiny little dinner salads with nothing in them, but not Steer n Stein. The salad was full of dark greens, croutons, carrots and cucumbers. I also got a baked potato and garlic bread with my steak and both were very good. I would have preferred more chives on the potato but that’s a personal preference. I could have asked the server for more but she was busy and it wasn’t important. My friend got mashed potatoes and vegetables with his steak. He said they were both fine, nothing remarkable but not bad. The vegetables were on the bland side but not bad. Same for the mashed potatoes. The garlic bread is really good! It’s crispy and flavorful and makes a nice addition to your meal.
Service was great as well! We came in on a busy Saturday night and I could tell our server (A blonde woman? didn’t catch her name) had a lot going on. Still, she was friendly and attentive. I felt like she did a great job and made sure to tip 20% because she definitely deserved it. She didn’t offer us steak sauce but personally I think that’s a good sign. Steak Houses that are eager to give you A1 don’t have faith in their steaks. We didn’t need it!
MY ONLY COMLPLAINTS… for a place called Steer n STEIN they should have a beer menu on the table. there is a small mention of the available drinks at the bottom of the menu but all it says is «local beer available» I think a place like this would really really benefit from having a nice beer/​wine menu. And you’d sell more and make more tips! I will say though, that our server was knowledgeable about the beers and we were happy with what we got. Similarly I thought the appetizer selection was lacking. We wanted an app but nothing jumped out at us. Zucchini, onion rings, potato skins. Nothing interesting. Especially if you’re already getting a potato with your meal. Spice up the apps!
Conclusion: solid food, excellent service, slight improvements needed! A True Hemet Staple

This place is just great.
I ordered the ribeye, medium rare, and it came out perfectly cooked.
Seasoned well, and the meat was so tender it cut like butter.
I was a little iffy about it when I first came in because it’s a little old timey for my taste, but our server was fast and friendly, and the food was so so good.
I will be back!

Great lemonade and food! We had a 45min lunch and they were able to get us served and checked out by then.

Its has been a good day steer n stein. The service was good and the food was too.
I ordered the baby back ribs and steak. I ordered my steak medium rare. The steak was perfect the way I liked it.
My ribs were good, but something about it didn’t seem right. It could be me or maybe it was something about the ribs.
Another complaint was when one of my family members water tasted like tab water, like something you taste from the bathroom sink water. She asked the waitress if there were any other drinks besides soda and water, and she said no. So that really sucked.
But overall, everything was good!

We had a great visit. The prices were good and the service was great. It was our first time we went on a Saturday night. The food quality was good. We will definitely come back again. We didn’t get drinks nor did I use the restroom, do I can’t give a review on that! Overall a great visit.

What can I say? New to this town but been coming with in-​laws for about 10 years now. Little local steak joint. Great chili bean soup. Steaks are seasoned nicely. Nothing fancy. But staff is always friendly. Food is great for what it is. Will be back for sure.

very good. Tonight my family and I had a very disappointing meal. Way to much garlic on the food. Ordered steaks Medium came out well done, hamburger rare ! Baked potatoe was good service average. Don’t think I’ll be back again. Good by Steer n Stein !

We have been loving Steer ‘n Stein Restaurant for years. The stock yard plate is perfect.
We love to place our order for pick up, but it’s also very nice to dine there.

If I could give this resturant more stars, I would! I have lived in Hemet for years and been here before, but for the first time last night my husband and I went there for a date by ourselves, and let me just say! It is such a refreshing surprise to go out to eat and not only be satisfied, but truly impressed!
The moment you walk in, you’re greeted and dates promptly and with friendliness. Our waitress was attentive and swift to take our drink orders, and kind and patient even when I ordered a strawberry lemonade after she had already gotten my water. (The strawberry lemonade was amazing by the way, and all the little touches the put loke serving it in a mason jar are just so cute.) Again, was swift in taking our food order.
The salads arrived very quickly and with perfect timing before our food, I hate when I haven’t gotten a chance to put a dent in my salad and they’re already bringing my entrée. The food arrives shortly after we finished our salads and did not only look amazing but tasted SUPERB. The quality of the meat at a small family owned place blows a chain resturant out of the water. I loved that the food came on scalding hot plates so everything stayed warm. And I’m not joking when I say everything was delicious, to the point where I was even raving about how great the butter on my baked potato tasted! Lol
I didn’t have to ask for a water refill, and our waitress waited patiently to drop the check until we were ready. Over all, this was just a great dining experience and I expect to return at least once every couple of weeks, and I strongly urge you to give this place a try if you haven’t already!

This place is great from the cold frosty 32oz of beer to the great prices and portions offered, its an awesome place for friends a family.

Arrived for lunch during the week since I was visiting clients in the area. Parking was a breeze since it’s in a shared strip mall center.
It was a hot day so I started off with a brewed iced tea which which was thrist quenching. After seeing a solid review on their burger I opted for the ¹⁄₃ pound cheeseburger which came with one side — I selected the Caesar salad which was yummy. The burger arrived shortly after finishing my salad and included yummy Cole slaw. The burger was cooked perfectly at my request of medium and was juicy, thick and the tomato’s and lettuce were garden fresh tasting. Service from my waitress was spot on.
The interior has comfy booths and the restaurant wasn’t noisy like a fast food joint. For the money the value, service and quality was solid.
I’m looking forward to returning here next time I’m in the area.

I just can’t wrap my head around a «steakhouse» that doesn’t sell filet mignon, or a porterhouse cut! These to me are true indicators that quality meat is being served, and prepared the right way.
The atmosphere is cliché and what you would expect for a southern style steakhouse. Pricing is very good, and the portions are large! If you are a meat and potatoes kind of person than you will love it here! There’s not too many options, or stuff getting in the way of your meal. The garlic bread is always good, and the wait staff is generally very friendly!
If you like cuts other than those described above you will love the place, I just personally won’t be back until they add one or the other!

My mom and I ate at Steer N Stein for the first time on a Thursday night. The place was full. The décor has a rustic Western feel, and there is plenty of lighting (good for those of us middle-​aged and later vision). The first table they seated us at wobbled, so we switched.
Service was prompt, especially considering how full they were.
For appetizers, our meals included soup of the day, «chili bean soup», or salad. Soup of the day was split pea, and I almost ordered it, but when I asked our waitress how good their chili is, she said they make it in-​house, and it’s good. Good thing I didn’t order split pea because the table behind me ordered before us, and our waitress brought our apps, then told the other table they’re out of the soup. To be honest, the chili was ok, but had the waitress not told me otherwise, I would have wondered if it came from a can.
For entrees, Mom got a rack of baby back ribs, and I got a 7oz steak with a half rack of ribs. Both of us got baked potato and their bread. We both agreed the ribs were tender, but could have benefited from more BBQ sauce. I ordered my steak medium, and they served it well done. The main thing I expect from a steak house is that they get the cook on your steak correct. At the price of about $ 17 for that entrée, I would have been annoyed, would have complained, and would have sent it back if it weren’t for one thing… For the first time in my life I was served a well-​done steak that was, tender, juicy, and flavorful. I could live with their fail and still enjoy my meal without Mom feeling like she was eating without me, or later sitting there waiting for me to finish after a long wait on a re-​fire. I ate it and enjoyed it.
There was one thing that annoyed me. The platter they served my entrée on was so worn that it was warped to the point of not fitting the tray it is supposed to fit into. The result is a hot plate that rocks and shifts almost every time I tried to cut my food or stick my fork into my meat. They really need to replace their plates.

Just came in for a burger and was like WHAT!!! This is the best tasting burger I have had in some time. I mean forget service that is 6 out of 10 but the food was amazing. Really the meat hear was great. I have been back a few times and wow what a great tasting burger. Please try it they are really good.
Good job here guys. Just hire more friendler people seems like a metal hostpital is running the place.!!

Since 1967 & still going! This place is just what the name suggest. The 16oz Super Stockyard Steak, Baked Potato & Salad was all good for $ 17.00
Ad a 32oz Slugger of Beer ice cold. Nice dining room & great service. For the price it hits the spot. Highly Recommended !!

You know, there’s not much in Hemet for good restaurants. But Steer N Stein is definitely a good one! I’ve only been here a few times but every time I’ve gone, I’ve never been disappointed. Their steak is very flavorful, made just the way I asked (which is so hard nowadays) and easy to cut (which I love). They have a pretty good selection of steaks, burgers, salads and sides. Their garlic bread is great too. I like that they have mostly booth seating here. Our server was prompt and friendly.
Only thing that bugged me a little is my salad was soaking wet and they piled on the ranch dressing so it was very soupy and I didn’t get to each much of it. But, other than that, this is a great family steakhouse and one of the few good restaurants here in good Ol Hemet. Easy to get to since it’s right off of Florida.
