El Zarape Mexican Restaurant

Customer Service not great. Asked for a napkins and the lady gave me this look and told me to hold on. Food is ok.

I have to say, I was very suprice how good this place was. We where greeted when we walked it. The server was very nice she took the time to tell us what was new on the menu. The food was on point. I odered camarones al mjo de ajo aka shirmp skampy Great for sure a return spot. My husband and kids where pleased with there dish.

We ate breakfast here when they first changed to El Zarape. Extremely long wait for coffee AND food and waitress seemed uninterested.

I had the chile rellano and taco combo with beans and rice to go. The taco was pretty big and flavorful. The guacamole on the taco was really good. It was fresh and had big chunks of avocado. I would have liked some lime with it. The chile rellano was pretty tasty too. It was fresh and salsa on top was nice. The beans and rice would good too. The beans didn’t taste like they had a lot of lard (good or bad… up to you). The horchata was yummy and refreshing. The hostess was great and even gave us some chips and salsa while we waited for our food. I will be returning to eat «here». I’m sure it will be even better.

The hubby and I were in need of some great seafood and we came across this Resturant. Great Mariscos and Authentic Mexican food. It’s clean, nice and awesome. The food is good!
The waitress was really efficient and service was excellent. And they even have norteño music (live band) we were so excited that we finally found a place that has live entertainment. This is a must place to go if you need to go out of the ordinary.

This was a nice surprise. Very nice little place with tasty food and nice service.
They have a lot of food options. Their tacos are good and their chicken soup was really tasty.
I will be back for sure!

Great food, great service been to these restaurant about 5 times every time having a different plate and they are all amazing Carne asada tacos, shrimp salad, fajitas plate n I could keep on going but is just great fresh mexican food

Had dinner with the family here and I must say the service is fantastic, very clean, pleasant atmosphere and I did not feel pressured to eat and run. Definitely need more restaurants like this one in town! Taco Tuesday doesn’t mean you get half sized tacos, the chicken was very tender and so was the shredded beef. Will be going back for seconds soon.

This is THE BEST Mexican restaurant in Hemet
(I’ve been to the others).
It is possibly the best Mexican restaurant that I’ve been to, anywhere!
The reviewers that give it less than 5 stars have no taste. I think they’ve been to too many chain restaurants that use artificial flavor enhancing additives to «hype» otherwise tasteless and subpar food. This is not that kind of place. The food here is high quality and naturally flavorful. I’ve been back several times now (and tried several different dishes), and it is always excellent. The restaurant is very clean and tastefully decorated. The service is also excellent, and very friendly. One can easily tell that the owner is making a real effort to stand for quality.
It is so nice to have such a great restaurant on the east side of Hemet!

Wow. I’m not sure how this place gets good reviews unless they are not legit. Terrible carne asada!!! I went in last night & ordered a carne asada burrito to go. I wish I would have stayed because I would have demanded a refund on my $ 10. It was the worst carne asada I ever had. Only a few pieced of meat was edible & the rest was fat. It was so bad it actually ruined my appetite. 1^st & last time eating here.

If you like great Mexican food and great service give these local people a try. Completely satisfied and will return thanks. Left full and happy.

To keep my review short and concise.,
Can’t keep it short because it added it as a tip. But the California burrito was incredible. I added red sauce inside and it just made it pop. My wife went as far as saying best burrito ever. I had fajitas and they were really good.
Feedback for ownership: we came here looking for the place and couldn’t find it. Need more visible signs to bring people in.

Really great service, food is ok not my favorite in town but I’m glad I went to try it! It was completely empty inside I hope for them it’s not always like that. Very attentive staff and decorated nicely

The first time I came here it was newly opened
And it was on valentines day
The waitress would not stop bugging us. We kept thinking she must be new and not aware of how to be a good waitress.
She seemed so nervous and jittery and kept coming back to our table asking if everything is ok 20 times. And when i say 20 times i really mean 20 times (atleast) she would also forget things a lot i felt like she was there the whole time we ate. It was pretty uncomfortable. I felt like we had no privacy. And no time to ourselves to talk and enjoy the food without her by ourside. A few times would have been fine to make sure we are ok but that was way too much bugging. When you say your okay the first time that means we are okay until we need a refill or you see us looking for you for help or the check but to come back 2 mins later and ask the same question over and over again is ridiculous! She kept telling us her name like 10 times too even though we did not want it or ask for it. It would have been fine to tell us once at the beginning when we first sit down but multiple is was too annoying. Especially on valentines day I also think they should play some music because it was really quiet in there unless you just wanna hear the waitress by your side the whole time.
But the food is good. Lol
Id recommend the carnitas.
And yes They give chips and salsa while you wait for your food. The 2^nd time i went. I had a different better waitress.

This little place is tucked in the little shopping center. I love that they are close to me in East Hemet. Great price, taste, and family friendly environment. Very clean and my new favorite over the others down Florida Ave. Taste is more authentic! A must try. .I must say

5 stars !! Awesome food and friendly staff! We will def be coming back! I recommend camarones a la diabla! But be aware they’re spicy !!

Went to El Zarape Mexican Restaurant for the first time tonight with tha famly, we almost didn’t go in becasue it appeared to not have many people! Thank goodness we went in, if we had drove away we would have missed out on some amazing food!!! This is a MUST for anyone! Prices are great and we will be back as regulars!!! Finally a great restaurant on the East side of town!

What can I say? Not Ghetto yet, but will be if the cooks don’t add any flavor to the menu.
Take out order:
2 item combo: Chix enchilada and shredded (dreaded) taco, Carne Asada burro, and Mechacca burro. (will try Monday)
Beans, no flavor, might as well to use Rosarita. Rice is blah! Pink dyed white rice, again no flavor. Chix enchilada was pathetic and beef taco, well Jack in the Box serves better!
Carne burro was over powered by the fake avocado sauce flavor. Didn’t care for the fat gristle, must have been thrown in for extra weight? Taco shell was old, stale flavor.
Soggy shell too because packed in to-​go box with wet enchilada. Cheese looked and tasted fake rubber processed cheese food. Only one other couple in restaurant when we picked up on Sunday at 5pm… hmmmm get a clue…
So little turn over in food ingredients means you’ll get stale old flavorless meals.
Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere, Don’t waste your $$ here, unless you like crap.
But nice and friendly waitress, maybe she can get another job elsewhere when this place closes.

Excellent food, family friendly, really sweet attending waitress. i had the red wet burrito, very flavorful. My daughter had the California Burrito and she loved it. They offer kids choices for the little ones. Averaged priced and large portions. Fried Ice cream was excellent. kid approved! The other competitors def have some new competition. very pleased and will be back.
