The other La Cabana closed down and I had given them a 5 star review. Recently I was scrambling to get some late night Mexican food and I saw this location on Unilocal and quickly decided to make the trip. It was getting close to closing time and so I decided to call in the order, and a woman answered. Me: I’d like to place an order for pick up. Her: Um… were you aware that we close in like 10 minutes? Me: Yes, which is why I’m calling. I’m on my way right now. I just want an enchilada plate and a side of sour cream. Is that okay? Her: Well they’ve already started cleaning up. Let me check… Sorry but we can’t make any more food. They already put the food away. Me: Oh(disappointed). Let me ask you… what time do you normally close? Her: We close at 10:00. Me: Well what exactly does it mean to say that you close at 10:00 if someone can’t come in at 9:50 and order food? What does being open until 10:00 mean exactly? Her: Um. I don’t know. Me: I’ll tell you. It means you aren’t REALLY open until 10:00 and so you should change your posted hours because I’d be even more upset if I had driven down there and gotten turned away because you guys decided you want to get an early start on cleaning up and didn’t want to serve any more customers. Good day.(I hang up) This sort of thing really peeves me. If their hours are until ten, then all the way up until 10:00PM rolls around, the door is locked, and the drive thru sign is turned off, somebody should be able to show up and be served. I don’t care if it’s 10 seconds to closing. But it gets worse. I had to call around for an alternative and El Ranchito answered the bell for me. Even though they were just about to close, they made an exception for me and took my phone order, and so the day was saved. In an ironic twist, they happened to be located across the street from La Cabana. As I arrived the clock struck ten, and I noticed La Cabana still had their OPEN sign on, and there were three cars in the drive thru waiting to get their food. So in point of fact they WERE still making food. They just didn’t want to serve any more customers which is why I was turned away. Memo to La Cabana ownership: El Ranchito got money that night that should have been your money. And if you don’t want my money, there are PLENTY of other Mexican food establishments in the area who will be happy to take it… one on every corner. Maybe you’re doing well and aren’t going to lose any sleep over my business but then again the other location was recently closed down so maybe business could be better. Bottom line is I’m not happy with you guys and you can take my comments however you want.

This is my first time here and when I walked in it was pretty busy, a good sign. Well I was wrong. I had the Huevos Rancheros and was totally disappointed. Huevos Rancheros is about the sauce and there wasn’t any, they just added some celery, onions and tomatoes to the eggs. The refried beans were sub par also, how hard is it make refries? I won ‘t be back.

The first time I came here with some coworkers, I had one of the best burritos I had ever had-the La Cabana burrito, which has carne asada, shrimp, and this awesome chipotle cream sauce inside it. Couple it with the molcajete salsa and pickled carrots and jalapenos=food coma for me. It was only $ 4.99 which was reasonable. My coworkers were jumping on the bandwagon and it seemed as if the more burritos we ordered, the smaller they got. So I opted to try the chile verde burrito the next time-worst mistake ever. It had very tough, old, freezer-burned pieces of pork drenched in a weird sauce. I will never order it again. My friends continue to order the La Cabana burrito or rolled tacos. They have since raised the price of the burritos to $ 5.99 and the portions are inconsistent, there are days when it is mostly flour tortilla. I have tried the Al Pastor and Fish burritos-unremarkable. The customer service is hot and cold and they always give me a weird look when I ask for a plastic bag to put the carrots in for whatever reason. I would not return by choice. Mexican food restaurants are a dime a dozen especially in Hemet, so I will continue my quest.

Just ordered there and after receiving my items and driving away I realized that I had paid for a large drink and gotten a small. Then I went to eat the California burrito that I ordered and it was ice cold. Tortilla felt so cold like it had just come out if the freezer. It was smothered in sour cream, so much so that I literally couldn’t taste anything else! The burrito was so cold that the cheese wasn’t even melted inside. It’s annoying to pay 10 bucks for a meal when you’re super hungry and it turns out crappy. Not to mention the lady at the drive through hated her job or something. It used to be a good place but now it’s gross.
