Something is going on with their hours. I’ve been back three times and they were closed. One of those times, I had friends with me whom I had just been raving how good this place was only to find it closed up tight on a Sunday evening. I went by early this evening and there was a sign that said that they were closing at 4. I really do love the food at Xenia’s but haven’t had a chance to eat here for awhile.

We went tonight, Sunday, and they were closed even thought the hours on Unilocal stated that they were open.

I go to various places in the Middle East and enjoy the food there thoroughly, so I love being able to get authentic, quality ME food right here in Harrisonburg

Not something you will expect, but they got delicious food! Great food, nice small place and good service. Xenia, always hit the spot.

I have had a single wonderful meal at Xenia. I have returned five or six times over the past three years but have repeatedly found them closed with a hand written sign on the front door giving no more explanation than«we will be closed». I think this is a big waste of customers’ time. At least tell when you will reopen, etc.

Traveling on 81? EATHERE. Take a break from drive thrus and enjoy the homemade pita. Chicken kebab with basmati and tzatziki is a fresh change from the usual road trip fare. delicious.

It took them 50 minutes to serve us when we were the only ones in the restaurant. When we walked in three workers were sitting at a table talking and looked up and judged us. Then they kept talking for minutes and then finally one came over and gave us menus. The wait was not worth the food. Terrible service.

Really on the fence with this one. Let’s start from the beginning. Found this place on Unilocal while traveling back to NOVA from WV. We were promptly greeted and told to sit wherever we would like. As usual I was dining with my 4 year old daughter. We ordered the Chicken Kabob Platter, a Sprite, and and a hot tea. I have never had hot tea that tasted like that before and I don’t mean that in a good way! First sight I thought it was black coffee. What really stands out and what obviously gives this place such great ratings is the food. The Chicken was moist and flavorful, albeit the extremely small 5 pieces we received. Literally the smallest portion I have ever seen for a Kabob Platter. Pita was cooked perfectly and the rice was awesome as well. The food was really good but the portion size wouldn’t allow me to even consider ever coming back. Too bad. Not to mention I discovered Children’s Menus on the way out even though we were given two adult menus. When I pointed out«Oh you have kid’s menus» the guy working apologized. Damage done! I could have just received the short end of the stick this time around. That being said, if you’re in the area and don’t want the usual Chipotle or Fast Food give this place a try.

I was not hungry but I wanted to try the No.1 restaurant around here. I ordered a sampler $ 16.99. I chose 2 kabob and 2 sides. It comes with hummus and baklava and 2 pita bread too. Taste: Great! Great marine. My husband thought they were overcooked. Fresh salad and hummus were simply tasty. Pita was fresh and warm. Baklava was just ok. As I always complain, no rosewater. Babaghannouj was sold out. Price: Good. $ 16.99 for 2 people. Some sides are under $ 2. Customer service: Good. Fast. Interior: Not great. Super casual. I ate outside. Two tables on a side walk. Parking: Free everywhere. Location: Great. In a big shopping area.

Found this place on Unilocal while we were traveling out of town. The food was excellent and well –priced, but the service was slow. There was only one server for all of the tables and although she tried her best, I think she needed a second person or food runner to help her. We got the hummus, it was delicious and my family devoured it. Our entrees were excellent as well. We would return if we found ourselves in the area again!

When they first opened several years ago, I tried Xenia. It was awhile ago, but my impression was good. This time around… Food was great. Friendly service. It was a good second first impression.

Everything about this food was good! I got my order to go and couldn’t have been happier with it. The chicken was tender, the sauces were delicious, the rice perfectly cooked. The hummus and pita were so good and it was affordable! Would definitely recommend and would definitely go back.

I called to order take out, but the phone number doesn’t work. I tried the website: non-existent. So I went in person and was happy to walk down to Barnes and Noble while I waited. I returned to find they had given my food away and I had to wait for them to remake it. I would have left and cancelled but I had already paid. No offer of a refund or discount next time. Just a quick sorry and all staff disappeared to the kitchen. Mistakes happen, sure. But they seemed very uninterested in keeping me as a customer. Despite the food being quite good, I can’t support a business with such poor service. A better location and some customer service training would go a long way. I won’t be back.

Delicious. Delicious. Delicious. Food is fresh, meat(lamb and chicken) was tender, falafel was moist, sauces were homemade and interesting. Creamy, garlic Babaghannouj. Prices were very reasonable. If I lived in this town, this place would be a staple. This was better than any Mediterranean fare in my hometown of Birmingham, Alabama. Food was served quickly and our waitress was friendly. So glad we stopped. Don’t let the strip mall atmosphere deter.

The food was good. The service was strange. We arrived with two kids and asked if we could sit outside. Our waitress came out with our menus and took our drink orders. She brought our drinks and took our food order. We ordered an appetizer to share, two gyros, fries, and three more appetizers plus a side to eat with dinner. I took the kids inside to wash their hands. When we came back out, our husband said another waitress tried to clear the table while he was sitting at it. He explained to her that we just ordered. The waitress said that explained why he had four drinks. My husband laughed about it. The first items to come out were the side we ordered for dinner and two of the appetizers we ordered for dinner. They were dips that included pita bread, but she only brought the dips. We drooled at them while we waited for the bread. Next came the pita for the dips and the appetizer we ordered to eat first. I noticed that one of the dips had a hair in it. I can’t say if it was there when it came out, or if it blew over while we she was waiting on the table next to us. It definitely wasn’t our hair. I picked it out and laughed it off. Everyone looked clean and the hair wasn’t curly, so I didn’t care. A few minutes passed, then a gyro came out. A few minutes later, another gyro arrived. Our waitress said the remaining appetizer(garlic pita) would be out soon. My husband asked if his fries were also coming, since they didn’t come with his meal. She said yes. I ordered another dip, because they are delicious. The dip came out, then we ran out of pita and waited. Finally, the other waitress brought out the garlic pita. We asked for the fries again. She went back for them. They were cold and hard, like they were forgotten in the kitchen. She asked if my husband wanted ketchup. He said yes, so she came back with it. Our waitress came back and asked if we wanted our drinks refilled. We said yes and asked for the check. She brought it out with mints. She apologized for the broken state of some of the mints. One of them was crumbled up. The waitresses really need training. I’ve never left a review under five stars before. If the waitresses had known what to do and when, I would have rated it five stars.

The kabobs were good and the hummus wasn’t too over the top garlicky. I also had the tomato cucumber salad which was just ok. Once I saw the green beans walk past me to another table I had some regrets since they looked delicious. A very small restaurant, but I was able to sit outside. Melina was the only waitress and was keeping a busy place moving and happy. Try it if you’re in H-burg.

Honestly, one of the BEST places to eat in Harrisonburg. Seriously, I love Xenia and you will too. They have a pretty wide selection on their menu, both meat and non-meat options. Both equally delicious. I’ve ordered the Madrid a few times, it is a really awesome twist on classic Mediterranean food. The chicken is very juicy, and the fresh pita is amazing. I’ve also ordered the veggie kabob plate which was packed with flavorful grilled veggies and was very filling. They have really wonderful hummus too, if you are looking for an appetizer or just have an obsession with hummus(like me) then you have to get it. Some other reviews speak to the hours, which I will say is certainly a downfall. I have tried to go before and the place was unexpectedly closed. Even so, the food is wonderful, and the staff are very friendly.

Stopped here instead of Qdoba because I haven’t had good kebab since I lived in the DC metro area. We ordered the sample platter with 2falafel, 2 kebab(steak and lamb), tomato salad, briyani rice and baklava. The kebabs were tender, and flavorful with the perfect amount of grill marks/char. The briyani and tomato salad were both well seasoned and delicious. We opted for the pineapple horseradish sauce which was sweeter than I expected but still balanced nicely with the meats. Service was quick and friendly. The attendant event watered my dog. Will definitely return next time I’m on the highway. The 4 stars instead of 5 is d/t small portion, although I admit I’m not sure if it’s because we got the sample platter. But at double the price of a regular platter and advertised as enough for two, I’d assume that this is standard portion. That being said, I could eat the 2-person sampler on my own and not be extremely full. Still good and will return, and by comparison to kebab shops in the DMV, price, quality and flavor are on par.
