Darn, another place to eat in Harrisonburg but we live in Staunton. Small grocery run by Iraqi family with food cooked over wood. Three tables, not much room but take it home if you have to. The kabob was great with unbelievable pita(maybe the best I have had outside of India or Turkey) and some salad on the side. My wife was moaning as she ate her felafel. The owners are really friendly. We will try to eat our way through their menu.

An unassuming restaurant startup by an Iraqi family offers kabobs, tikka, falafel, and shawarma for dine-in or take-out. I had the falafel sandwich(which comes with fries) and an order of dolmas — made well and quickly. I watched some satellite TV(playing a Bollywood film) while I waited. The beverage cooler included a number of middle eastern bottled drinks and yogurt drinks in addition to typical sodas. Desserts on offer include baklava, kanafeh, zalabia, and znoud el sit. I am glad to see this type of restaurant on the north side of town and hope this becomes another Harrisonburg ethnic restaurant success story.

Just went here for lunch yesterday. Friendly, quick service and delicious food! The restaurant has an interesting little hole-in-the-wall feel to it; it’s one room with a bunch of tables. You go up to the counter to order, very much like a typical chinese restaurant. They do eat-in and take-out; we got ours to go since it was such a nice day outside. If you choose eat in, there’s a little self-serve stand set up with tea, sauces, and mini hookahs. As for the food, we really enjoyed it! The tandoor bread that my meal came with was massive — more than enough for my chicken tikka! My friend(who lived in the Middle East for a few months) ordered the chicken shawarma sandwich and baklava. He said it tasted a little bit different(probably a regional difference), but still thought it was very good. I tried a bit of his baklava too… yum! Actually, we made a short and sweet video about our thoughts on the food. You can see it on our blog: . Their menu had a lot of variety. I would definitely like to go back here again to try something else!
