Meh. The service was OK, but the sushi could have been better. I was served a combo set with tuna that looked less than fresh, if you catch my drift. Maybe I caught them at a bad time? The rest of the meal was average. I’ve had much better elsewhere in town.

I was a little leery of this hidden sushi spot in Harrisonburg, but we had a very nice lunch. Generous portions of sashimi served in an appealing manner. Service excellent, and other clientele were returnees. I would definitely return myself.

When I heard Sushi Jako was under new management, I decided to give it a try since it had been a while since I had last gone, and I’m so glad I did. The sushi is fantastic and the service was great. The wait staff was very knowledgable about the different rolls available and was able to make some great suggestions for an adventurous eater. The Golden Bridge roll is my current favorite, and by itself can fill you up. Compared to other sushi options in town, the portion sizes here are generous and I don’t find myself questioning the quality. And if you have a friend who isn’t into sushi, there are many other delicious looking options, but I can’t speak to them as I’ve never tried them. If you’re a fan of sushi, like a serious fan, you’ll appreciate the art on these plates.

My fiancé and I really love a good sushi experience. Lee and his staff offer that and more. The food is prepared expertly and the service has always been exceptional. There is definitely not a better sushi experience in Harrisonburg. With option for dine in and take out, we recommend sitting at the bar and chatting with Lee. He’s a super nice guy. If you like spicy, try the Bang Bang special roll with fresh jalapeños. Guaranteed to break a sweat. :) Their seaweed salad is amazing and the ginger dressing on the house salad is perfect. My fiancé loves the bibimbop. Overall, the food, atmosphere, and service are all top notch!

This is our favorite place in Harrisonburg. My family and I are regulars. We love everything about Sushi Jako. I must say their bulgogi is the best!

Sushi at Café Jako are the best sushi I’ve eaten in a while. I especially recommend Tuna Outlet roll — the fish was very fresh and the combination was just amazing. The service was good too. The place was clean and kid friendly. My husband and I are definitely planning on returning!

Wow! My wife is an avid sushi eater and she was amazed at the quality of the fish. If you are a fan of tuna, try tuna outlet.

Worst service ever. They weren’t busy and my friends and I waited for 5 mins to be seated… They just stared at us. Then we sat. And she only took my friends order and left everyone else empty handed. Then took five mins to give me hot tea. Which by the way is cold. I got soup(cold not surprised) and salad… I still don’t have my utensils… So I am writing this review. I’m so disappointed. My salad is so small a child wouldn’t be full. BASICALLY Don’t go here… I’m helping you by not wasting you time. It’s awful. Omg so bad. It took them 25 mins to bring me sushi… Its raw! And they are not busy. Wtf. I’m so pissed. All my friends are angry. I will never ever come back.

I’m not a sushi expert. Not even close! I walked in & only had a general idea of what I wanted. The man working was super helpful & even switched up the sushi to fit my liking. Most definately will be going back soon!

This is my second time here. You cannot beat the quality of food and service for the price of the meal. The sushi is prepared right before your eyes and is very fresh. I am from Pennsylvania via Washington D.C. and I appreciate quality sushi.

By far the best place in town for quality sushi and creative rolls. The new owner Lee is very kind and generous and delivers consistently delicious sushi at good prices with daily specials in addition. If you have a member in your group not interested in sushi have them try the Korean BBQ, it’s excellent. And don’t miss out on the extremely well priced lunch specials.

Sushi Jakob has a nice décor and the service was good. We had read good reviews about the sushi, but I opted for the shrimp tempura appetizer. If you enjoy the light, crispy batter of traditional tempura do not order it here. The shrimp is basically just regular deep fried shrimp. A different heavy batter was used on the vegetables… very disappointing. My husbands Yaki soba was just OK. It did not seem to have been stir fried in a traditional manner… more like boiled noodles and vegetables with the sauce added on top of everything after the fact. The salad and dressing were good. The miso soup tasted fine but would have been better with some scallions and bits of tofu. Maybe if you go, stick to the sushi.

New Owner has taken over and he makes for a very friendly atmosphere. It was quiet, so he offered us a treat from the sushi bar with lunch. I had the Sushi deluxe dish and you worry if a place offers you the egg or other cheap fillers. They did not. The Sushi was fresh and it was a nice selection of choices. We went there twice on a 1-week stay in the area. It was good food at a good price.

WARNING! New Owner, new ‘Cook’. Dirty deep fryer, you can get better rolls at a grocery store. Eat RAW food here at your Peril! Cooked fish rolls are likely made from old sushi bar fish past it’s prime. I’m so grossed out.

Pretty good sushi and Korean, the only thing that wasn’t that good was the shrimp teriyaki(small portion, and I’ve never seen breaded fried shrimp served like that). Good service, very friendly. Nothing special but not disappointing either.

Hands down the best place in Harrisonburg for sushi. The owners are really nice and come out and talk to you while you eat. The last two times I’ve been there they’ve brought me complimentary pieces of sashimi(one of conch and one of scallop). It’s definitely a small place, but they’ve got a good Japanese style menu with good tempura dishes in case you’re not in the mood for sushi.

Some of the freshest and most affordable sushi in the valley. Jako has great service and a huge selection of sushi and Korean food. Make sure to check the white board at the sushi bar for the current seasonal special. I highly recommend the spicy crunchy tuna rolls. The eel is also wonderful. It’s hard to find good eel, and they nail it with fresh(not fishy) eel that is cooked to perfection. Jako also has some really affordable lunch specials.
