Very good, well prepared, fresh food. Interior was attractive & casual. We were told it was originally a 7 – 11 convenience store. They did a good job remodeling it. Though you could see the Gulf, we had to look across the restaurant parking lot which was full of cars. The staff was very friendly & attentive. Our waiter was efficient and prompt. The wine list was just ok. We would definitely recommend BLVD to friends and would dine here again.

We picked this reasturant after reading reviews on Unilocal so i am writing this review to encourage other Unilocalers to check this place out. Brian, the server was wonderful! Everything we ordered was wonderful!

The restaurant was very clean. Even though I didn’t have a reservation, I was seated at the bar. I got a flat fish stack which had flounder fish, crab cake, risotto and green beans. The free beans were very fresh. Best crab cake I’ve ever had, it was very flavorful. The fish was a little bit dry, it might be overlooked a little bit. Moreover, there were a few fish bones remaining, so I would recommend to be careful when eating this. The risotto was very rich. Overall, I did enjoy the dish. However, I wish there was something citrus on the dish to cut the richness. The bartender was very nice. I would go back to this restaurant and recommend to my friends.

This place was really good but it was pretty pricey. $ 23 for pork cops covered in blackberry sauce, ouch! I mean it was really good, just not sure it was worth $ 23! If that kind of price doesn’t bother you then this place would be great. However, the pork chops was one of their cheaper meals. The special they were running that night was $ 40 and it was fish with grilled veggies. I just couldn’t understand why it was $ 40. My husband had the pork chops but I had the clam chowder. I’ve been in search for a decent clam chowder for a while, thinking I’d find it here but I was a bit disappointed. The chowder was over salted and it seemed to have everything in it but clams. I would think a place like this would be more conscious of over salting, considering its fresh fish. It was $ 14 for a bowl of chowder. The service was great and we felt well taken care of but that’s expected at a place where you spend $ 25+ a plate. The restaurant had a very pretty view of the ocean too. Honestly, even though the food was good(minus the clam chowder), the service was great and it was a nice restaurant, I’d rather go to Joe’s Crab Shack.

This place was Meh. When you drive up from the seawall, it’s somewhat behind the tiki and surf shops, in what looks to be an old strip center or gas station. When I walked inside, everything was re-done and very nice to my surprise. We were seated on the far side, with a glorious view of the parking lot. Bummer. The waiter recommended us order the campechana, which he described as a «cooked ceviche.» I was down, so we gave it a go; and it came out in a cute cocktail glass. First bite in, I discovered it was really more of shrimp, and fish, with a SMALL amount of avocado swimming in a cocktail sauce. Not really what I was going for. Really, I was looking for more of fresh tomatoes, and definitely more than 4 tiny pieces of avocado. For my entrée I ordered the clam chowder bowl, and my boyfriend ordered the filet-mignon with a side of bacon mac and cheese. The clam chowder was melt in your mouth good, and very creamy most likely very fattening. The filet mignon was cooked perfectly(medium rare, the only way to cook a good steak), and the bacon mac and cheese was the star of the night. Three stars give for price, in accordance to what you get, and the not so good appetizer suggested by the waiter.

Service was excellent, the manager came to our table twice to see if we were doing well, the food and desserts cannot be beat. I started with the calamari and moved to the Maceo salad. Excellent and fresh. Calamari tasted perfectly prepared– not too fried or heavy. My husband and I split the seafood sampler which was enough food for us — the fish of the day was redfish and it was super tasty. The BEST part of the meal was the bread pudding. Do not pass it up. I would have eaten it for breakfast if I could have. We will be back!!!

Little restaurant with a modern flare on gulf seafood. The seafood chowder was friggin delicious. Savory, rich, sweet and filled with fresh shrimp, clams, crab and white fish. We also enjoyed the crab cakes served on their take of creamed corn. Stay away from the mixed drinks, the bartender thanks being heavy handed is doing you a favor. The drinks are horrendous, I mean really bad. Loved the salad and calamari. I’d move that $$ to $$$. Most of the dinner entrees start at $ 27.

It has fresh fish but being right by the beach that’s a given. The rest is just not good. I don’t understand all the high rates it has … But at least do not try their gulf coast plate. The Sauce is bitter, the risotto is plain. And the lunch tacos are average…

This is an amazing place and you should definitely be going here if you have not before. A friend of mine got the blackberry pork chop, another the Caesar salad, and I got the jobber(gumbo). None of us were disappointed in our meal and everything was amazing! I have not had good gumbo in a while and this place hit the spot, a lot better than the other gumbo place on the seawall. I will be coming back here again and you should be making your way here!

Give this place a chance. The outside and inside décor need a lot of work. Actually thinking about it, maybe even just changing the lighting inside to be more intimate might do the trick. As for the food, the know their seafood. Amazing. I ordered the Gulf Grouper grilled and I inhaled that thing! My wife ordered the pecan wood salmon and she loved it also.

We enjoyed our meal there. They had decent happy hour selections and a comfortable ambiance. We had the crab cake which wasn’t so good. It had a bit too much filler and not enough crab and it came out kinda cold. The campechana had good flavor but the shrimps were tiny. The salmon crostini was dry and boring. The gumbo was decent. For our entrée we had the wild game special which was the ostrich for $ 40. It was enjoyable but definitely not the best ostrich I’ve had.

The food was good, the service was good too. However the Shrimp fry we took(my wife is great shrimp lover) one of the shrimp was not de-vined[the thin black line of sh**]. As we were hungry, not sure how many we ate without noticing. I called the waiter and told him about it. He told he would be right back and went for 10 minutes. Then another guy[probably Manager] walks to my table and asks what was the issue. I told him the Shrimp is not de-vined. He told me that they don’t de-vine the Shrimp and that is how they serve it to all its customers in a very rude and harsh manner. I was late so left without arguing. I am just wondering… how can people go there and pay so much to eat shrimp sh**?

Don’t judge a book by it’s cover. If you’re in town and looking for a joint to eat, make a stop by this gem by the water. It doesn’t look like much from the outside, but the inside is modern and delightful. I had the Canadian old fashion and it is the most delicious cocktail I’ve had in a long time. The raw oysters were on the smaller side, but presented well and tasted delicious. «The Chowder» is a hearty soup with an assortment of seafood, and is also very tasty. Service was very good at the bar. Will have to come back when I am in town next.

This is a place that I would call a hidden gem. To me, the outside of the restaurant doesn’t match the awesomeness that you’re going to get inside. We chose this place based on Unilocal reviews. As usual, all you awesome Unilocalers did not disappoint. The food was all top notch. It matched something you’d find at a really high end restaurant, but being on the beach — you have the option to wear more casual clothes. Service was awesome and the wait time wasn’t too bad. Me personally, I had the shrimp and grits. The shrimp size was larger than most restaurants and they were grilled to perfection. The grits includes sausage and a little spice — everything went together perfectly. So, if you’re on the beach and want a top-notch meal, but don’t feel like paying boardwalk prices — this is your place. Each time we go to the island, this will be one of our must-eat places! It is easy for me to give this place 5 stars — they earned each of them!

Here for a conference and had dinner and lunch here. The food is wonderful, the service is great, drinks were fantastic. Clean and airy — nice view! The only reason for 4 stars instead of five is price in comparison to serving portion. If I’m paying 27 dollars for a seafood platter, I expect it to be more than 2 small scallops, 4 shrimp and a small piece of redfish. The food is amazing — but the prices are out of balance.

Went to Galveston Island last weekend for a Christmas gift to SegCity tours(I have reviewed them as well). After the tour, we tried to go to Maceo spice shop, but unfortunately, it had closed early for Easter weekend. We walked up and down The Strand and got some delicious sweets from Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory(also reviewed). We eventually wanted to try some good seafood and Unilocal!reviews looked promising on BLVD which is very close to the Seawall and Beerfoot Brew Bar. We got to BLVD pretty late(around 9:30pm) and they seated us immediately. The service was very good. I asked for no ice in my water and when my water came, sure enough, plenty of ice. Once the waitress came by to take our order, she realized my glass had ice in it and she immediately took it back and brought a glass without ice. I ordered The Jobber(seafood gumbo), my girlfriend ordered The Chowder(New England clam style), and we shared an order of Crabby Crab Cakes and the Seafood Sampler. The gumbo and chowder were full of delicious seafood and not heavy and salty. The crab cakes were definitely not the best I have ever had, but still solid(especially for the area — I am used to fresh Maryland crab) and the seafood sampler was pretty delicious and filling. Again, even the green string beans were lightly seasoned and not painful to eat as some are incredibly butter and salt laced. I would definitely recommend, this is a solid place for seafood. At the price point, you may be expecting better, but considering it’s location, I think the prices are fair for the quality of food and service.

This is conveniently located by the seawall beaches so it’s a good spot to eat and hang by the pleasure pier and beaches. Loved the service here our server Taylor even took off an item because we hated it and didn’t even touch it. We started off with the calamari which lacked seasoning and was also a bit cold by the time it got to our table. From the lunch menu we tried Caribbean tacos which were supposed to have jerk shrimp but it tasted like plain blackened shrimp, it came with a mango salsa which was fresh, and a side of jalapeño coleslaw which tasted like your average run of the mill slaw no Jalapeños. The backyard bbq sliders were also ok, meat was cooked well and has an ok sauce. Also tried the campechana but it was so inedible, I couldn’t even swallow the bite I took, it was basically some seafood drowned in tangy tomato sauce.

Dined here for the first time on a Friday during lent(when we don’t eat meat) and the staff was very accommodating and even served the bacon Mac’n’cheese without bacon! The food was fresh, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. I’ll definitely be returning.

We were excited to try this place almost 5 stars. I order the grouper special, grilled grouper with bacon wrapped shrimp. For $ 40 I expected more than I received over cooked grouper and how can bacon wrapped shrimp be dry, it was. The savings grace was the bread pudding to die for. Skip the entrée and go for desert, your best bet.

My husband and I decided to spend the day in Galveston and we randomly decided that we’ll visit this restaurant for lunch. It looks a little run down on the outside, but don’t always judge a book by it’s cover. We had an enjoyable experience. Our waiter, Cory was very attentive, thorough, and checked on us frequently to see if everything was ok. He even showed us a booklet of photos and drawings about the history of Galveston(i love historical facts). We weren’t sure what to order, so Cory recommended the«Jobber» and a smoked salmon appetizer. My husband ordered the chef’s special(fish with a curry sauce over jasmine rice). The salmon appetizer had a beautiful presentation. It was flavorful and the sauce complemented the salmon pretty well. The Jobber was my favorite. It was a gumbo dish. The portion was huge. They were also generous with the seafood in this dish. I couldn’t finish it myself, so my husband helped. There was sausage, shrimp, crab meat, green onions, beans on a bed of rice. It was accompanied by a variety of crackers. The flavors were spectacular(I added hot sauce to it as well). Hands down, this is what I’ll order the next time I’m back. It’s the best gumbos I’ve had in Houston(best one I’ve ever had in my life is in New Orleans). The chef’s special tasted great, but I’m particularly picky when it comes to curry. The dishes are on the pricier side, but you get what you pay for — the quality! FYI — it’s near the boardwalk and most restaurants allow their patrons to wear whatever they’re wearing on the beach, but you need to dress appropriately if you would like to dine her. No bathing suits. Casual dress is ok.
