The ambiance is nice & the waitress was nice. The food was a tad bit better this time .had been there before & it was auwfull & it is WAY over priced! For that type of money they really need to invest in newer & bigger tv’s for the outside seating.

3.5 stars. I was in Fresno last week and a couple of business associates wanted to to have sushi. I scoured Unilocal’s pictures and reviews and Wasabi was the best that I could come up with. Fresno is not known for a authentic and dynamic sushi scene. The restaurant is located in the Fig Garden Shopping Center and has a modern neon collage bar décor with an outside patio. The menu is extensive with many Japanese items. Even larger was their beer, sake and drink selection. We ordered the the following Appetizers Gyoza Basic Fried Calamari excellent large pieces Sashimi Dinner Basic fresh and presented well Lobster Roll the best of the evening. California Roll Basic. The bad thing about the rolls was the chefs feel a need to drench them in sauce. Check out all the pics of the food. All of the fish was fresh. Service was OK. Parking is plentiful in the evening in the shopping center.

Yummy! My favorite place for sushi. We always receive excellent service. Tonight we had the pleasure of having Ngan as our server. Very pleasant and attentive. 5 stars again!

A great place! I love their appetizers, especially the Chilean Sea Bass… it’s cooked to perfection. That, plus a bowl of Edamame makes a perfect lunch. The bartenders are so sweet and mix good drinks. I feel comfortable and at home here, for sure. Love it!

Im new to sushi, but I really liked this place. I had the crunch roll which I loved! I also had some delicious chocolate martinis from the bar. The waiters and hosts were very nice and prompt with everything. The atmosphere is fun, you just have a good time there.

My friend and I had a dinner. While my friend ordered a chicken teriyaki and I ordered Mojo sushi roll as entrée. Our main dishes looked good and tasted good. Very good for the price. It was good but not great. Here are some minor issues with our main dishes: My friend’s entrée came with a miso soup and a small salad bowl. There was a tiny amount of ingredient in the miso soup. And there was too much dressing in the salad; it was more like eating dressing than eating salad. We ordered a Gyoza(Japanese dumplings) and Cucumber salad as appetizer, but Gyoza was heated frozen product and Cucumber salad was just sliced fresh cucumber without any seasoning, accompanied by some seaweed and vinegared octopus. Both appetizers seemed overpriced, and I won’t order any appetizers again in this restaurant. They should improve the quality and quantity of their appetizers. For these reasons, I rated 3 stars.

I went to have lunch got the bill paid with card and the waitress lost my card after charging me. Didn’t offer anything for free didn’t call the manager to help her look for it. Called them three times through out the day to see if they found it each time they asked to take down my name and number. The waitress called after 5 hours saying she never found it. How do you lose a card within 5 minutes of walking to the register and back?

Tonight was my very first Sushi experience at 67 years young. And thanks to Austin and Maj our experience could not have been better. From the sake bomb and sushi rolls we ordered down to the Mochi dessert. I will never forget this first experience. We had the booty booty(I think) and a delicious Lobster roll. I highly recommend this restaurant. And not to mention the ambience. The lighting is so comfortable and inviting. Thanks Wassabi!

The 2 times that I have visited this establishment have been amazing! First time was to celebrate a birthday and the second was for happy hour on a Friday which is from 9-close(11). Me and my friend sat in the patio bar area where we were able to order without having to wait to be seated. I was patient with our server that night because there was such a crowd, I understand the wait. We ordered jolly rancher shots and a saporo. Then to eat we got gyoza and 2 rolls. Idk what my friend got but I got the booty booty tempura which was amazing! Everything was so tasty! The dj was playing the jams and everyone was having a good time. Th servers were quick for the situation they were in and we had a blast. Before closing they passed out free sake bombs and the whole patio did them together. It was a great way to end the meal. The sake was warm and slightly sweet. Thanks wasabi! You really are OFFTHAHOOK!!! will be back again for another girls night!

My friends and I stopped in here during the lunch hour, and we waited 10 minutes to be seated, which puzzled me because the place did not look busy. When the hostess came, she walked us to the back dining room and sat us in the far back in the corner. Other diners were all together towards the window and I felt like we were on a time out. Maybe because we were in our scrubs, she thought we were contaminated. I ordered a $ 10 lunch box with teriyaki salmon, chicken, miso soup, rice and salad. We also ordered some california sushi to share amongst ourselves. I did not care for the bland rice, but I absolutely loved the salmon; some of the best I have ever had. The miso soup was a hearty broth, but I wish there was more tofu cubes. Nice place, service could improve, the food was good, and I will be back.

Came here with a work party. The décor is great in there. I am not a sushi person so I ordered the teriyaki chicken bowl. It was excellent. Price was average and the service was very good. I would defiantly go back there and recommend to friends.

The sushi was great. The food is fresh and you can watch them make your rolls. What an art!!! The OMG is named correctly. The service was great. The atmosphere is kind of sport barish but good. Great place to bring a group of people and kids.

El Nino attempted to tarnish the hip-elegance and hip-sophistication of Wassabi… Off The Hook! Yet, his attempts were unsuccessful as we had a blast hanging out in the absolute darkness of zero electricity for about 20 minutes while the power went out last Saturday night. We were sitting enjoying our drinks, listening to the massive thunder claps and bright daylight flashes of lightening while celebrating a good friend’s birthday. When all of the sudden, the lights begin to dim, the satellite TV reception dies and after a few pulses of electricity the restaurant goes dark. People were in such good moods that instead of getting upset, we all began to sing happy birthday to the three or four groups celebrating that night. It was pretty fun, to say the least. Waitresses began to look around, having no clue what to do in this dark situation. The chefs stopped cooking and when I asked why, one brandished a sushi knife and said, «see this knife? It is super sharp. SUPER Sharp. See these?» as he wiggled his fingers at me, «eI need these to cook and you don’t want one in one of your rolls…» I died laughing. All in all, it took about 15 – 20 minutes for the power to come back on and everything resumed as normal. Even the TV reception came back. The AC began working again, it was still 90 outside and it had become really humid and stuffy inside as the exhaust fans in the kitchen are electrically driven. A few people were not allowed to leave because they didn’t have cash and the restaurant couldn’t charge their cards. That was awkward. As for the food and service: Food was fantastic. From the fried green beans to the beef teriyaki. Taste was top notch. Quality was top notch, but portion size lacked. Rice is cheap. Pennies. Some more rice on my plate would have made me happier. Service was definitely the area that has the most room for growth. They had one waiter serving our group of 15 and two other tables. Not fair to the guy. What also isn’t fair is that they automatically charge 18% gratuity for parties of 6 or more. Typically I would reserve this for when a waiter is only serving that group… Isn’t that why you’d pay more to that guy? Since he can’t earn tip at other tables??? My only suggestion would be to have a few more people on staff for parties like this so they can focus and earn their 18% per customer tip. We definitely had an interesting and fun experience here at Wassabi… Off The Hook! like no other. I doubt that the power goes out often here and we still were able to make the best of it! We will be back!

If someone says sushi I always say yes and I always go to Wassabi when I want good sushi. But I gotta say it’s been a let down the last few times I’ve been here. It’s not cheap by any means. Expect $ 50 for two people ordering a couple of rolls each and water for drinks. I always get the 2nd climax roll. Yes, the rolls have fun(ky) names like this. I know exactly what it tastes like and can tell you if something is off! Well the taste was defiantly off, again, this time. I fear this place is losing its consistency. My wife always gets the same thing too. Now she doesn’t eat raw so we always order her Orgasmic(yup that’s the name) deep fried. And because one roll is never enough we split the caterpillar roll. In my eyes this place used to be upscale but if you look around things are looking like they’re being run down. I wish I took a picture of what I mean instead of the food. I guess I was more excited about eating then Unilocaling at the time! Until my wife suggests a new place we’ll keep coming but I don’t think it will be as much as we have in the past. Sorry about this one. Happy eating

Good place, but just inconsistent with service. I’ve only been coming here recently to order their Salmon Katsu w/mango salsa, which I think is really delicious. Their teriyaki chicken seems a bit bland though, and not as tasty compared to what I am used to. I would avoid it. Place is pretty huge, and looks pretty modern and clean. Prices are about $ 2 higher here than the competition around town. The walk-in greeting here is annoying, and too cheesy. Sushi chefs need to do a better job w/attention to detail. My gf found a small piece of plastic in one of her rolls recently that’s pretty amateur of them.

Party of 30. Made reservations for a party of 26. Small mistake. It was an extra 4 people. We squeezed into the area we were given. It was not a big deal. All she had to do was give us some extra waters. Come on now. That’s four extra stomachs and MOREMONEY for the restaurant. However the waitress was rude & did not understand that all we wanted was to move on and order. Instead she lectured my sister(the birthday girl) on how she can NOT serve 29 people… If it was my birthday, I would have just gotten up and left. She was rude and the way she spoke to my sister was in such a condescending voice. So much that my sister broke down in tears about how upset she was with the way her evening was going. However, after I had finally settled in and had to explain the waitress several times there would not be 28 separate tabs & that people would be doubling up or in groups paying together. She lightened up. I could still hear a bit of rudeness in her voice but I didn’t want to make such a scene. We proceeded to order and after a while what can you do but try to enjoy the evening despite the service. Anymore complaining from anyone would have just upset my sister more. So we all tried to bare through the dinner. Food came. We ate. We blew out our cake. We left. Gratuity ! My tab was $ 158 including 18% gratuity … Which was $ 23. For service that made my sister cry on her 20th birthday. –_– Wtf. FOOD: Chicken salad $ 10, barely on wontons on top. Very sad. Rolls: they were all fine and ok. Chicken Katsu Bowls: very big bowl, small portions. $ 13 Wassabi, one waitress for such a large party is not the way to go & just a note, a pleasant approach to any difficult situation is always the way to go.
