We’ve been here twice and love the selection and the frequent freebies! The service is friendly, and we didn’t feel rushed to make our choices… so many good ones to choose from! The doughnuts we had were blueberry and chocolate glazed and they were so fresh and so delicious and pretty large, too. Not skimpy. We will definitely be back!

Yum yum! Samoa donut is my favorite. My husband & I stopped in for a treat after our run. Ha! I had the Samoa of course & my husband had the chocolate glaze with walnut topping. We also got the key lime with toasted coconut to go. Yummy! Lots of choices, fresh donuts & coffee. Staff is very friendly & helpful!

One of these days maybe I’ll find something I don’t like, but it hasn’t happened yet. Glazed and cinnamon bun-type donuts are my favorite. Wife loves their chocolate covered, carmel drizzle with crushed peanuts donut. Fredericksburg definitely got a winner with this place!

High quality, imaginative doughnuts and related pastries in an upscale cozy café setting. If you’re hankerin for a handcrafted specialty doughnut at a fair price, this place is for you. I bought some oreo encrusted, some cocoanut topped, some salt n caramel, a cinnamon swirl and a large apple fritter. I’m a vanilla frosting fan. They had one sprinkled with mini chocolate chips which delighted me. Reminds me of a similar double cake from Little Debbie, but far better. Next time i will photograph the goods before my crew devours them.

I fell in love with Sugar Shack while attending VCU and I’m so excited that they’ve opened up in Fredericksburg! My favorites are the Samoa and Strawberry with sprinkles(It has real strawberry bits?). I love that they don’t label their donuts and they always have something new and fresh on the shelves. Everyone there is friendly and patient. They have a dozen– donut limit per person so choosing just 12 is hard for me. There’s a huge blizzard coming in a few hours so I’m happy to have these donuts to myself until my parents wake up

I visited Sugar Shack after they opened. It was a cold rainy night, but the little shop was packed and a kind, smiling staff was happy to help with the donut selection process as they carefully placed them in the box. The donuts are thicker than you might expect, but we enjoyed the ones we tried. The prices seem a little high, but I would go again.

No two visits are ever the same when you go to Sugar Shack… what you see in the display case changes constantly… and trying to decide what sugar overdose you want to enjoy may be difficult… but whatever you get, you can be sure that it will be joyous. If you are someone who has difficulty making decisions, are indecisive then you may just have to close your eyes and do an eeny-meeny-mynie-moe…

I heard about this place on Facebook. Can’t show a box of awesome looking donuts online & expect this 9 month pregnant lady not to go. Lol. They were honestly so soft & delicious. We got ½ dozen plus 1 free one from Unilocal.I loved the Oreo donut & cinnamon sugar. Husband really enjoyed maple bacon. All in all will definitely be going back. It was a little pricey but you get what you pay for and I think it’s way worth it. I had some this morning & they tasted fresh even though we bought them yesterday. Very happy.

Wasn’t impressed at all, maybe I came in right after a big rush! No Apple fitters, no lemon fill . My great nieces said it was good, they’re 10 and love sugar!!!

Passing through town visiting relatives and we were excited to learn that a gourmet donut shop was right around the corner. We stopped in for a half dozen and some coffee — and were not disappointed. They offer a good but not overwhelming number of options, from regular glazed and chocolate covered to more exotic types like the one I had topped with chopped up Butterfingers. One thing I liked about these are the height of he donuts themselves — their thickness provides a nice balance with the rich toppings. Although donuts are the star of the show, I like that their coffee menu lists coffee, red eye, and black eye as options. I needed the red eye to help with the sugar coma the donuts themselves induced.

I have eaten donuts all across America– these are good quality donuts! I would put these in the top tier of donuts. I like special favors just like most donut lovers BUT the basic glazed tells the tale of the tape. The basic glazed donut is light and airy and really really good. You can smell the donut smell in the parking lot. Go buy some you will not be disappointed.

Yep I am jumping on this band wagon and eating some tasty yeast donuts with amazing iced tops like pineapple, marshmallow, and lemon berry. What are you waiting for? Get yourself over there and have a donut. They rock! I will never buy from the chain place with this joint open. Long live Sugar Shack! The staff are always helpful and the vibe is super casual. They serve coffee but I am strictly there for the donuts. To be fair, I would probably have a cup if I was able to linger and enjoy a seat outside. Also if you check in via Unilocal, you will receive a reward. So stop delaying. Go by and treat yourself. Enjoy!

Sugar Shack is the love child of Krispy Kreme and Dunkin while on a drug induced weekend bender of hallucinogenic baked goods. Roll up with an armored car of gold because you will need it as your eyes will be bigger than your wallet. This isn’t momma’s donut shop, this is the girl you met at a concert that left you twitching in a ball. Enjoy.

So glad they made one closer to me! There weren’t as much flavors as I hoped for but, these donuts were super good. Half a dozen starts off about $ 7.20, a lil more than most places but super good. The place is kinda small and it was a tad difficult to get in and out of the place, thankfully it is clean. Very friendly staff, they have something for everyone whether it’s just a simple glazed donut or the favorite Boston cream, or for the more adventurous upside pineapple cake. I’m guessing they have different flavors every day. It’s very busy here but great to take your friends, family and most definitely the little ones. Not much parking directly by it but there’s enough in the streets nearby. They have shirts and other things available. Coffee, lattes and all. Try it if you stop by Fredericksburg.

Well as much as I wanted to love this place. It just didn’t do anything for me. As another reviewer said the décor is cool, the inside of the shop is cute and smells good, but the flavor is not there. As I was chewing and took a few more bites I told my husband it reminded me of something I could buy at Wal-Mart. As he was holding a donut and took a another bite, he nodded & agreed. There is nothing special about these donuts. My husband and I tried the Sprinkles with Chocolate icing, Sprinkles with vanilla icing, Old Fashioned Cake donut, & Raspberry donut. The ones with the sprinkles were dry and very chewy. They have to much dough. I kid you not, as I chewed, chewed a little more, chewed some more. and a little more, my jaws started hurting. The cake donut was dry and a little crumbly. I’m very observant of my food, so I’m the type to bite into something and stare at the inside. Weird. yeah a little. So of course I did this with the donut and it was like the top part was a tad saturated with grease and the bottom was dry. Don’t ask how that happened, heck I just bought and bite into the donut. I didn’t make them. I instantly put that down and didn’t bother with it anymore. However, I give credit where credit is due. The raspberry icing on the raspberry donut was actually pretty good and made up for a little bit of the excess dough each donut has. I think if they actually glazed their donuts before putting the icing on them it might help. If you have a drier icing like the chocolate and vanilla on the sprinkles donuts and you already have a dry donut. It just doesn’t work. You need a little moisture somewhere. But don’t mind me that’s just my opinion. My husband also had a hot chocolate from there. He said it was ok, nothing special. Overall, I can’t say this please is worth a second visit or a reoccurring visit often as of now. At some point I will give them a second chance but if nothing has changed then I won’t be back for sure. I mean there are two other places to get donuts(Krispy Kreme & Pauls Bakery) so they will have to step their game up.
