Greektown in Detroit is sort of a Disneyland version of the Greek neighborhood that used to exist there. There aren’t any Greek people who live there anymore It seems that one of two restaurants persisted throughout the decline of the Motor City. This isn’t one of them. Nevertheless, this is a really solid Greek restaurant. They have all the classics, as well as a few more innovative dishes. I had a macaronada(Greek macaroni) in a really light tomato sauce with peppers, cheese, and loukaniko(Greek sausage). they also had very good loukoumades(Greek donuts). Oddly enough, they serve Greek coffee in a normal sized coffee cup. Needless to say, I was well-caffeinated for the rest of the day. They also have a few Greek micro-brews, which iare actually pretty good. The ambiance is very modern and the service was good. Would return.

Very touristy restaurant. I wouldn’t go out of my way to come back but if I was craving Greek food this is the better selection out of the other restaurants. Service was good and food came out the but drinks were average for the price.

Came here since I was craving Greek food. I would have to say, this was average to say the least. Nothing stood out and the meat was on the tough side. I’ve had way better at the Santorini in Chicago.

Overall this was a great meal, the flavors were great and the meats were tender. Additionally the prices were comparatively low for the location and quality of food. I must also say that all of the waiters were stereotypically friendly and hilarious Greeks who made the night a ton of fun. To start with we had the tzitki and hummus with bread. They were both pretty good but not great, the hummus almost seemed watery, and the bread was pretty bland and reminded me of the table type bread that every restaurant served in the 90’s. The entrees were much better. 3 of us had lamb, 1 had mousaka, and 1 had the arugula mint salad. The salad was a good portion and the smell was very captivating. The lamb was tender and fall off the bone as well as seasoned well. The sauce was good on the lamb but was a bit messy. The potatoes on the side had a great flavor.

Inside was very nice, service was also really nice. Now lets get to the food. Started with saganaki, cheese was a little harder to cut/or scoop up with the bread than usual. The bread seemed like it had been cut and sitting around for some time. Greek salad was good, but i expect more than one olive in it. The dressing seemed like an Italian mix of sorts, not enough Greek for me. Kids had the gyro and spanakopita. Gyro was so so, but the spanakopita was delicious. Wife had the oven roasted chicken and enjoyed it. I had the beef kabob with green beans, potatoes and a side of rice with red sauce. The beef kabob just wasn’t seasoned properly for me. This is a Greek restaurant but lacked Greek taste. The potatoes were to watery for me, i like mine a little drier and more Greek seasoning, and these lacked seasoning. Green beans and rice were both good. Over all it was good, i still prefer Pegasus anyday but to each his own.

I’d never been to Greek Town during my many visits to Detroit with my husband, who’s a native, so he finally took me on a tour. After walking around, we decided to go to Santorini for drinks. A sporting game has just let out so it was pretty crowded. We lucked out and found two seats at the bar. It took a while for a bartender to greet us and remove the drinks from the previous patrons. When we asked for a drink menu, he told us they didn’t have one and acted shocked that we asked. What restaurant doesn’t have a drink menu or at least a wine list?(Later I looked at their website, they do have a wine list) While I love Greek food and we only went for drinks, based off of this experience I don’t foresee returning the next time we’re in the area.

The place is convenient to the casino and Athenium hotel. My uncle says it has the best lamb chops in Detroit, but we only popped in for a drink. I loved the look of the place and was a bit bummed we wouldn’t have time for an appetizer at the bar. However, that is where my intrigue stopped. After the 4 of us sitting at the bar for 20mins, we were never greeted by any of the bartenders, asked what we’d like to drink etc. After a little while of being ignored(yes, they were busy, but were straight up ignoring us), we tried to get their attention as they helped people around us, but the bartenders wouldn’t even look at us. I’m not sure why they would ignore us, as we were all very nicely dressed, the men in suits & us ladies in dresses with nice jackets etc. It was the strangest thing ever. That said, I will not be back. When I go to an establishment, I expect to be served. Taking up 4 bar stools of a 30 seat bar, I don’t see how they would’ve missed us if not deliberate. Which is something I can’t fathom, as my husband & I are both very friendly, always smiling and had they served us, they’d known we also tip very well! It’s a shame this experience left such a bad taste in my mouth, as I would’ve loved to go back for the lamb chops someday. Oh well, New Parthenon is right there with the friendliest staff and delicious food, I’ll survive!

We visited for an early dinner, before heading to Ford Field on a Saturday night. The restaurant wasn’t too busy and we were seated in a nice booth by a window. We started with the spread sampler: Taramasalata, Hummus and Scordalia. The spread order came with a plate of fried but thick and soft pita chips. This should have been my dinner. It was more than I could have hoped for and then some! The Tara was a slightly pink cup of fluff, just as I remembered it should be. The hummus was mostly for my hubs, so he had a choice of something he recognized. Nice texture, not too creamy and definitely fresh. The Scordalia was the best! Spicy raw creamed garlic flavor — it has a strong bite on the tongue, and creamy texture. If you like strong garlic — and crave strong garlic — this is a must. Not for the passive garlic lover. Lemon chicken came highly recommended but we didn’t find is as big a home run as some of the reviews and our waiter suggested. It was fried, all white meat, nice sauce and large portion, just a matter of preference. I had the Arnaki Kokkinisto(Slow braised lamb in tomato sauce — bone in) Fattier piece of meat with great flavor, however, the larger piece of the two wasn’t as tender as I would have liked. It was a bit difficult to get off the bone but worth the work. I have the impression, that it isn’t always the case. Our waiter(John or Jeff) was exceptional. Very attentive, charming and knew the menu. I made my hubs promise me we could come back another time. I have to have that Scordalia again. The side of potatoes were nicely spiced but the green beans were blah. The peas might be better.

This is the corner Greek spot in Greektown Detroit that always looks too chic for sports fans or the common man walking the streets at midnight from bar to bar but this place was overly accommodating! We were promptly sat at a desirable table close to the bar and greeted as only the Greek do! Flaming cheese, prompt courteous service, and no matter what you wanted you were going to get it. Quickly served our drinks and appetizers which were excellent. I had the lemon chicken and even though it was near midnight the food was hot and flavorful. The price is a little steep but the ambiance more than makes up for it. It’s not your typical Greek Coney Island or restaurant. It’s nicely decorated, all wood floors, clean and well lit. Their main Windows also open to the busy greektown street outside as sports fans pass to and fro. I’m not a big Greek food guy but when I wanna eat Greek, I go here from now on. Also their house Greek salad is killer!

Came here due to friends flying in from Dubai and wanting something that reminded them of Greece. My wife did her research and ended up with this place. I have passed by this place in the summer and it looks like a nice place. We are greeted when we walk in and I ask for a booth got 4 which we got. The place looks like very awkward and awkward gambling degenerates, the sign on the door stating we take comps should have been a warning to stay away. We ordered the lamb shank, the trio, lamb burger, and gyro plate. I swear that Dennys would have done a better Greek themed menu than these guys. There was a problem with getting the lamb to medium and the trio looked microwaved. The lamb shank was grey and the gyro meat was stale. The fries were good though. Honestly wasn’t worth the 100 bucks and better off eating at Olgas. Avoid unless you get comps then you won’t feel bad about throwing away your money because you are used to it.

Only in Detroit for a few days, so picking the right Greek restaurant was important. Although Santorini Estiatorio is not the oldest or longest established Greek restaurant in Greek town, it delivered a fabulous dinner. We ate at the bar and received excellent service. Costa was the Manager on duty… clearly an authentic Greek entrepreneur. We loved the Saganaki«Opa» and the Arugula salad. The service was perfect. You will enjoy it.

I had a big family dinner here a few nights before my wedding, and would recommend it for anybody planning a special dinner, as we were very well looked after and enjoyed our meal. Be warned though, that the portions here are INSANE and you will have the most ridiculous amount of food ever. We had a group of about 15, and had a semi-private space in the back of the restaurant. Servers were warm, friendly, and funny. We started with saganaki for the table, I think we ordered three portions and he lit them all on fire at once, thought the whole restaurant would go up in flames! It was a very impressive display. The cheese was delicious on its own or spread on bread, and is a don’t-miss appetizer. We also shared a few spread samplers, and for our gluten free friend they brought a huge plate of vegetables instead of bread, which was very nice. You get to choose 3 from 6 spreads — we got hummus, an eggplant spread called melitzanosalata, and Tzatziki. All were great, I think the eggplant one was especially good. I was being healthy for my wedding and ordered a Village Salad(like a Greek salad — tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, olives, feta, etc) with salmon. Sounds like a light meal, but I couldn’t finish the huge bowl! Everything was fresh and the feta portion was definitely generous. Some of my other family members got shockingly large portions as well — the lamb chops, my goodness, you wouldn’t believe. A pile of chops stacked on the plate! Big slabs of moussaka… it was almost hilarious to watch our British relatives gape in awe at the American portions. But everything was very tasty, even though nobody could finish it! A great Greek restaurant in the heart of Greektown, I’d recommend it to anybody in the area with a big appetite!

This is Detroit Restaurant Week so I decided to try some of the local cuisines. As you can imagine, and event of this nature would showcase the local chefs, some of their existing recipes and possibly some new. In the case of Santorini, the offering was mediocre, at best. When we were seated, the wait staff greeted us promptly and provided water and bread. I was very surprised that this bread was quite stale. My dinning mates and I shared, the Lamb Santorini, Whitefish Thera and Chicken Frikase Avglomno. The chicken was so dry, it gave the impression it had been sitting out drying for a day with sauce added. The lamb had just enough seasoning to make it a step above boiled lamb. Their fish offering was moist with light seasonings. In all three plates, the vegetables were tasty. The location and venue of the restaurant is very nice. I’m reluctant to recommend this for dinning if they cannot showcase real talent during this premier week.

This place is great! The bartenders are top-notch, and the servers are excellent! I highly recommend the rosemary chicken & vegetables. Healthy, under $ 15.00, and a LOT of Food. Not to mention it’s delicious! Grab a seat near the window for some excellent people watching, especially on game nights!

My husband chose this restaurant for our wedding anniversary this week. We had gone to Santorini Island for our honeymoon so this was right up our alley for the occasion. And while it was decorated beautifully, there were plenty of patrons in Tigers gear and shorts while I was in a dress(and spanx) and heels… No matter… the point here is — come as you are and buckle in for an authentic Santorini meal. We were seated in an oval shaped booth with a full view of the restaurant — our waters were immediately filled and a chilled bottle left on our table… Our waiter immediately followed for our drink order and was ready with suggestions and options. Wine list was extensive and reasonably priced(we had a $ 38 Marlbourough SB). Now, the cuisine of Santorini is not the same as what you would expect to order at a traditional Greek restaurant(though these items are on the menu too). So when I say that the things we chose were OUTSTANDING — its because they were exactly as we had had them on the island… First up — chargrilled octopus was a singular tentacle as long as my arm. Cooked to perfection. Second up — the pan fried feta in filo with honey and sesame seeds. Also delicious. Third up — the village salad. The cucumber, tomato and red onion were crisp and perfect — the oregano was absolutely Mediterranean and it was perfectly dressed. I ordered the Shrimp Santorini — which was flavorful and filling. The husband had the Santorini Combo(2 lean lamb chops, 5 small grilled shrimp rice and green beans). The portions for both meals were perfect — and both entrees were under $ 25. Dessert was Fried Greek Donuts & tableside Crème Brule. Also fantastic. Bottle of wine, 1 beer, 3 apps, 2 entrees, 1 cappuccino &2 desserts = $ 140. We had exceptional service, were visited by the manager and a great time. 2 thumbs up and will def be back!

We walked in on a Saturday night when they were extremely busy and were seated in less five minutes. We tried the three spread sampler with tzatziki, taramasalata, skordalia, and it was amazing. We ordered a gyro and the makaronatha to share and the portions were quite large. We finished with the house made baklava– so delicious! Wait staff was attentive and friendly, can’t wait to go back!
