Happened to meet the owner Spiro! So so welcoming. Fun vibe and sufficiently crowded but not so you can’t breathe. Music is top 40 but also some classics — a really nice mix. A really solid crew, so many interesting people to talk to. Would highly recommend!

Came in for a pregame meal on a Wednesday afternoon. Considering we had 5 hours until game time, we gave the place a good test. And it did not disappoint. First off, Celest was our bartender and did a great job. Friendly, attentive, and competent with the tv remote control. We were able to watch 3 afternoon ballgames on their massive flat screens. Music from the juke box was very good too. Draft beer selection was small, but included 5 craft brews. The Raggedy Ass IPA was excellent. Our meal started with saganki el flambé at our bar stool. Very impressive and tasty. My buddy had the gyro, which he said was very good. I had the PBC burger, peanut butter, bacon and cheddar. It sounds odd, but was excellent. The hamburger meat was fresh, not frozen, and the burger was prepared exactly as I asked: medium well. The fresh cut fries had a hint of garlic to them and were awesome. Not a thing here to complain about.

New owners are great. Good food and fun place to hang out. Menu has a variety of items to choose from. Good apps for when you want something quick with your drink. Fun place to watch a game with screens on every wall

We came in for a birthday party and we found the staff very helpful and fun. Our food came in a timely manner and the drink specials were great. We are planning the next bday bash there! Thanks for a great time Pappys!!!

We came here last night for dinner on a whim, and well, it was just okay. After finishing our meal, we chalked it up as a Coney Island in the heart of Greektown. Nothing fancy, standard fare menu, prices were okay. We went in because we didn’t feel like waiting in line to eat at the other places, and wanted to sit down quick. Plus, they had a sign out front with beer specials for like $ 2. YES! Sign us up! We reviewed the menu, and after having a few laughs at some of the things listed, decided to order. Before I go into that, here’s some of the funny descriptions on the menu: Greens and things sliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiders YES we have NACHOS(because at this point in the menu, someone at the table wants to know if they have NACHOS in capital letters!) We found this funny. Clearly someone with a sense of humor did this menu. NICE! Anyways, I digress. Where was I? Oh yes, ordering. Okay, so our waitress was clearly not thrilled about being there on a Saturday night. Maybe she got stiffed on her Christmas gifts this year. Or company bonus. Or both. Not sure, but clearly something was up. She eventually came over and took our order after I intently stared at her hard from across the restaurant. Eventually our food came out as we ordered, and I liked what we had, but as I stated earlier, nothing special, and it came out very Coney Island tasting. Oh, and they kept turning up the music and then turning it down. Clearly, this isn’t a club, or a dance hall so why the occasional blasting music? It was only for two songs, but we were dam near deaf when it was over. We eventually got our bill and it wasn’t half bad. Even with the cranky waitress, we still liked it here. No frills dining, good menu selection with fair prices and beer.

Waiter was nice but he was really bad! He may have been new but it’s a small place so it shouldn’t take so long to get drinks. The nachos and quesadillas were ok but nothing I’m running back there to get.

Bartender couldn’t remember orders! When she finally did get it right, it still took almost 45minutes and all we ended up getting was wings. At least the wings themselves had good size and flavor but all and all don’t waste the time or the money.

We liked Pappy’s. My husband and I went with the waitress’ recommendations. I had their specialty Peanut Butter Burger, which sound weird, but tasted great. My husband had the buffalo chicken strips with homemade hot sauce and chipolte sauce, which he loved. Our daughter had the Pepperoni pizza with gouda and mozzarella and loved it. Waffle fries were very good and beer was very cold. Lots of tvs for sports.

Used to be a great lunchtime spot that years ago I considered myself a regular. The lunchtime crowd was always pretty consistent and the place was usually very busy. Ever since they changed/limited their menu things seemed to have gone down hill. I thought«heck it had been awhile since I’d been» so I’d thought I’d give it a shot again today. I should’ve known better. Out of the maybe one or two things that looked appealing to me I chose the chicken fajita quesadillas-I was a little impressed with the presentation(some fancy sour cream drizzle, guacamole and scallion on top) however I’ll take good food over pretty food any day. Grilled seasoned chicken, grilled red and yellow peppers, cheese, sour cream and guacamole all in and on a rather strong tasting(what I was rather bluntly told was not a) tortilla. To much is rarely a good thing. I thought the taste and absurd amount of grease were rather overpowering so I asked our waitress what type of tortilla they used. She informed me in a very«you dumbass» kind of what that it wasn’t a tortilla it was a tomato basil wrap… well HELL that explained it… needless to say unless I’m in the mood for a cocktail, some fries or a burger, I’ll probably never go back

The service was good out waitress was patient with my friends messy children. The food was okay. I got a chicken gyro and the chicken was so dry I couldn’t eat it. But the waffle fries were pretty good and the saganaki was fine. My friends picked it bc it’s a sports bar. Overall it was okay but I probably wouldn’t come back on my own.

Was in there trying to pick something off their awful menu and was told that we «know we have to pick something.» Literally the rudest waitress I have ever had. The drinks aren’t that great and after that awful service I know I will never go back.

Good beer selection but I have to review the décor. It’s part of the experience after all. I like the décor, or rather I would if it were in almost any other town. They’ve taken all the history out! This is Greek Town, an area of Detroit with a specific and long history. Pappy’s could be anywhere, it would still have a good beer selection and easily viewed large televisions but it’s such a bummer that it’s in Greek Town and isn’t proud of it.

Decent place to go before or after a game but not my favorite — I would rather hit up red smoke. However, my sister had casino comps and we were craving their pretzel sticks which are delicious. Our service has been great, the prices are great, and the beer selection is good. Their menu is varying so everyone should be able to find something. The atmosphere is a little divey but ok.

If I could give this place zero stars I would. Horrible service, waitress was rude and uninterested to help our table of 6. Food was bland, the muffuletta has a «olive» topping but it’s jalapeños! Who does that? When we questioned it after we received our order the waitress said«yeah, that’s what we consider an olive topping» and didn’t seem to care that we were surprised and dissatisfied. I will NEVER come here again. Don’t waste your money or time.

We went here on casino comps and found it just ok. We actually planned on doing dinner here but decided to leave after appetizers and some beer. It was ghost town inside on a Saturday night and I thought the waitress wasn’t all that attentive for so few guest. Granted we were there to watch the Tigers game on the TV but we were drinking beer from their large selection. They have an assortment of different items on their menu from fajita wraps to peanut butter cheddar(PBC) burgers. About a year ago my wife did bring me home the fajita wrap and I thought it lacked flavor. I love spice and zest and this just fell flat. If I wanted a beer in the Greektown area with lot of space to spread out with friends I think this is a perfect place. If you are looking for a restaurant I’d go explore all the other great options available in the area.

We came her before work during tigers game. I hate going into restaurants and being the only table being served. I went there with a couple if friends. One which has been talking about this place ever since he tasted there product at the Burger brawl in eastern market last month. We go in and my buddy wanted the same burger they samples at the brawl and they didn’t have it on the day we went in. He was kinda upset. The server was awesome and took our order and drink in a acceptable amount of time for the place being empty. But it took for ever to get our food thought. There special sauce is great and so it the food. Only thing was they never gave me bacon on my burger and I didn’t say anything to the server as I didn’t want to complain in front of my friends. Come to find out none if our burgers had bacon on them. Overall the burger was good prolly much better with bacon. Lol. Inhad the poutine fries which were great. I would like to go back and try it out again.

The service is surly, and not in a charming Detroit kind of way but in a sucky stinky surly kind of way. And even after baseball games they aren’t super busy, so it isn’t like they have a reason to be short… The last time we were there the waitress handed us menus and, though we literally just ate, I wanted to peruse to see if there was anything else I may want. She came back a few moments later wanting to know if I was going to order and when I stammered(I hadn’t really looked it over yet) she grabbed the menu away from me. The menu is a placemat, totally disposable so it isn’t like she was short a menu for another table… It was as if she wanted to recycle it back into the menu pile before I got a drink ring on it. I don’t know, there just isn’t anything overly redeeming about the place. The food looks crappy — I don’t know if it actually is because I didn’t get to order. And the drinks are pricy. Oh and the patrons are either lost souls that couldn’t get in elsewhere or regulars that treat the place like a Cheers. I guess I’d prefer to go hang where the food is good and the service is excellent… so pretty much anywhere else in Greektown.

Another Greektown establishment conquered. Came in here on a Saturday night and the place was packed. Not to mention, it was 80’s night on the radio and while I love my hair bands loud, when Poison came on it went up to 100 in there and I was waiting for Bret Michaels to come busting out in his head band and wholly mammoth coat busting a move on the bar but he didn’t and my hair wasn’t nearly as high enough that night as it used to be back then… Oh yeah, so anyway. The place was packed with Bears fans. I guess they were trying to drink Detroit out of beer like they did in Nashville. Had some wings, they were ok, got a burger with some peanut butter on it. Decent food, great music playing. I just wasn’t in that party mood. Get a table by the window, its great for people watching!

The food is a mix of greek, a little mexican, and general standard american bar food. They do none of this particularly well. The thin crust pizza is pretty good, but nothing else is much worth mention. Not bad — just forgettable. Being in Greektown with a number of other spots that DO serve memorable food, I’ve never found Pappy’s to be particularly crowded anytime I’ve been in there. You’d think that is the time where you’d get waited on with utmost attention, but that hasn’t quite been my experience. Most recent time I was here was for lunch, I was eating alone, there was one waitress serving the 4 tables that were seated. From the start she acted like she had woke up on the wrong side of the bed, and her poor attitude and rushed service continued the entire visit. I left thinking to myself, «I really have to stop coming here,»
