Best gyros ever! Got a number 1 because I was hungry, first time eating souvlaki which is basically a kebab. French fries were okay, rice was better. There is also a very chill bar upstairs.

My advice is simple, if you wanna eat good gyros in downtown Detroit, you should try this restaurant, the taste is yummy and can’t tell how delicious were the meat slices with yogurt. The waitress was a very nice lady and treat us so friendly. Definitely gonna try it again.

I found this delicious gem on a whim. It’s the last mom and pop restaurant in Greektown and the original Greek restaurant on the street, which made it appealing. We had flaming saganaki, authentic chicken lemon rice soup, and the most tender lamb shank. The staff were friendly and attentive. They made you feel like you were at home in their Greek kitchen. Excellent spot, I would highly recommend it! We will definitely be back.

We are in town for a Packer game and found this little joint for dinner. We were very pleased with their service and our food. I would recommend checking this place out.

not as nearly as good as i remember. the two stars are strictly for the service. my boyfriend and i came here a few times a couple years ago and it was amazing! fresh meat, fresh veggies, soft and tasty pita. all of this has changed it seems, or maybe they were having a bad night. we visited on a Friday night and were seated immediately. our waitress was very nice and attentive, and made sure to keep our drinks refilled. we ordered flaming cheese for an appetizer, which was salty and delicious as always. it was served with their usual fresh bread which was the perfect combination. the bad part was the actual meal, i ordered a gyro and my boyfriend ordered a kabob and a gyro. the lamb was cold, and the pita was terrible. i could barely fold my gyro without the pita ripping into pieces. i ended up having to eat everything with a fork. the tzatziki sauce was runny and barely had any taste. my boyfriend’s chicken kabob was perfectly seasoned, however it was super dry. i almost choked trying to try a piece of it! i was highly disappointed by this meal, and i don’t think i will be back!

Ended up here after a concert at Ford Field a couple weeks ago. I ordered a Greek Salad with Gyro meat, and my friend ordered their Gyro. The lamb wasn’t cooked all the way… and that was enough to keep me away forever. There are much better restaurants in Greektown-no biggie.

This is my go to for a perfect euro sandwich and french fries. I have on occasion driven to Detroit just to pick one up for dinner and drive back to Dearborn. Best euro in Detroit in my opinion.

Have been going to the Golden Fleece since I was in 6th grade, now I bring my 6th grade son. Always love the service, they treat us like family! The food is simple Greek food, gyros, kabobs, rice, Greek salad and chicken. To be honest I only get the Gyro platter with rice, when it’s good why change it. The portions are also very generous. The price very inexpensive. Just had a family gathering here and enjoyed the upstairs, which has recently been re-done and it is beautiful.

The food? AMAZINGTODIEFOROMGGETMEMORENOW! We got the flaming cheese which actually had a nice lemon flavor, although I wish the portion size was a bit larger. The highlight was the gyro sandwich, fluffy pits bread that had a slight crisp on the outside. Inside was an EXORBITANT amount of lamb that was seasoned so incredibly well — a salty Mediterranean mixture that had my mouth salivating like a puppy in love. The sauce was just as it should be and plentiful, dripping out the bottom and making a beautiful mess. So why the 4 stars? Service was kinda crummy. We were seated quickly but had to wait a good 10 minutes before anyone came over to our table. It was clear we were there as we asked if we could be helped, but it was like the service was all arguing on who should help us. In the end, the food was to phenomenal to be ignored. I would wait a few hours if I needed to to taste that gyro again!

This place has more of a homey feel, is small and not high-end like other Greek restaurants in Greektown, and the menu is small, typed up and laminated. But the Gyro meat is out of this world! I’ve never had better fillings and meat in a Gyro. They also do have a full bar, you just have to ask for what you want. I dock one star because the pita bread is very dry and stiff(but NOT stale), it breaks when folded and wrapped around the fillings.

I met a friend here for dinner after work. The wait staff are very nice and made the experience pleasant. Unfortunately the food was not good at all. It wasent fresh and my stomach didn’t agree with the four bites of food before I gave up attempts to eat any more. The place is in need of a food thermometer, bucket of soapy water and good scrub down. The location is great, near a like themed casino and the staff are nice but I’ll have to pass on any more invites to eat or drink at this restaurant.

I’m only knocking it down a star because it gets so hot in here. The gyro sandwich is my go to. Good bread, meat, sauce and fresh onion and tomatoes. It’s also massive. The only downside is how messy it is. They just opened up a new outside seating which looks pretty awesome as well. Cheaply priced. If you are looking for a good gyro definitely check this place out.

The Gyros were nothing special. The octopus salad was bad. The octopus wasn’t tender, it was too soft. Kinda like when meat been left in acid too long.

This is the only«original» Greek restaurant in Greektown. It is reflected in the excellent food quality, but also in the fact the interior looks run-down and dumpy. I continuously come back to this restaurant because of the Gyros. Unlike many lower end Greek restaurants where the gyro meat is pre-packaged then fried up upon request, the Golden Fleece has large skewers of meat that are roasted all day. This allows for the fat of the meat to melt into the muscle, which results in a fuller flavor. When you order a gyro, they slice the meat fresh and warm off the spit, and serve it with pita, tzatiki, raw onions, and tomatoes. The hot sauce at the table is a must-have on the gyro. Service here is usually pretty bad. My pop was flat(basically sugar water), and the waitress took it back offering to change the tank and bring me a new one. When I asked her about it 10 minutes later, she said she was«too busy and didn’t have time». At least she comped it though. If you’re just coming here to eat, be sure to park in the casino garage parking structure. It’s free, well-lit, and safe. Also only a short 5 minute walk down the street. I give Golden Fleece 3.5÷5, good food, but the services and atmosphere does not reflect the price.

We wandered in here, hungry after a Tigers game. We were seated, ordered, and had food within ten minutes. We both had gyros, and they were delicious! They come deconstructed which threw us off for a minute, but you can assemble yours just the way you like it. The onions had a nice kick and the pita just a touch crispy. I had fries, which were amazing. Hot, crisp, and no grease! Boyfriend had rice– yum. What a treasure and the bonus is they’re open late.

The best gyro I’ve ever had in My Life! The meat was oh-so-very juicy and tender and full of flavor, and I was relieved to see it wasn’t too thinly sliced. It was a pretty sizeable gyro packed with plenty of lamb. Thinking about it induces a pavlovian response where my mouth starts to water. I want to get a lamb gyro here every time I am in Detroit. It’s a cute little establishment that’s not the most trendy looking, but it’s got history and I promise the lamb will be worth the visit.

I used to eat here three days a week in law school, and I started frequenting Exodus before it was a legitimate club. I graduated law school in 2009, and I have to say the quality at both establishments(here and Exodus, the club upstairs) has fallen dramatically. On the positive side, they FINALLY updated the interior a bit, got rid of that hideous hanging trellis, and the fake plastic, nasty, dusty greasy grapes. That said, I’d take the nasty décor if they would bring back the old food. Things have changed in terms of food quality, and it’s not a welcome change. The red sauce for their rice seems watered down now, their tziki sauce lacks flavor, and worse than that, their meat… Well, their soulvaki is not lamb, like they advertise. It is definitely pork. What bothered me most was, I asked for mine medium rare. Their food was always great, but occasionally you would get a dry shish that had been sitting around, so I always custom order mine cooked medium or medium rare. Instead of explaining to me that they no longer serve lamb, they just brought me pork shish kabob cooked medium(undercooked for pork, for sure) instead. I had many long dates with the toilet the following day. Another sad fate for a once great restaurant that will soon be resting on former glories as business dwindles, or a destination for uneducated patrons that flock here for mediocre fare. Sad. Makes me wonder if Yonne’s Dad knows of the changes, or it’s all coming from lower down the line. Looks like Rub Hub, and 5 Guys are my new go-to Greek Town food destinations. I’m not happy about that. How about they bring some of those great Cork Town restaurants to Greek town? Quality food in Greek Town is severely lacking.

We were out with some friends on a Saturday evening, and I had my eye on this place since forever. Though I might have been going out on a limb by trying this dive for the first time on a Saturday night, I took a chance anyway. I walked in and just went to the counter. My only intent this visit was to try their lamb gyro sandwich. I didn’t even bother grabbing a menu; I was determined to try this, since I love all things related to lamb. There was a couple in front of me paying their bill. The nice young gentleman asked me what I wanted, so I told him simply, «lamb please.» He nodded and the older gentleman next to him proceeded to slice the juicy meat off the spit. I was so excited! Shortly after that, the sweet young lady at the cash register processed payment, and the total came out to be $ 7.25. Holy moly, for the size, it is a bargain; enough for both Husband and myself. I walked out with my to-go box and plastic bag in hand, and tried a small piece of the meat. Juicy, tender, well seasoned, and the perfect thickness. It was a little greasier than what I’m accustomed to, but it was still so good. One of our friends sampled a piece, and we all agreed in unison that this was some delicious meat. We couldn’t wait to dig in more, but it would have to wait. The next day, we tried it after heating it briefly, and I have to say that it was just as good if not better as the previous evening. I agree with the rest of the Unilocalers in that there is enough meat to make two sandwiches out of it. Next time I’ll have to ask for an additional piece of bread. I am not in this area that frequently, but next time I am here, I will definitely spread my wings and try some of their other dishes. But man, that lamb meat… mmmm…I’m not sure if I can pass on that. The taste of it still lingers in my mind. :)

It’s old dingy and overcrowded. With that said, it’s one of the few old school Greek places left in Detroit’s lovely«Greek town» and it’s pretty awesome Solid 5 stars on service. These folks never screw around. Anyone available to help will offer. On my last visit, I was asked 3 times while sitting if I’d been helped. I’ve had to have been here over 100 times, starting when I was just starting to go to St. Andrews for concerts as a teen. I’ve had 3 things from the menu over the course of my visits: Gyro with rice and sauce Chicken Gyro with rice and sauce Greek Salad Other things look really good as they head to customer, but why mess around when these things are so good and so fast to get. The same guy has been slicing down juicy pieces of meat for as long as I remember. He’s friendly and wants to make sure you get your food fast. They must go through pounds and pounds of onions and tomatoes in a week because they are always fresh. It might be worth ordering a second piece of bread because there is so much meat and toppings that 2 nice size Gyros could be built from one order.
