The service is phenomenal. However, the flagship item, the beef/lamb gyro, has a funny and weird aftertaste in my opinion. I went four or five times before writing this review just to be sure. I think I am going to give it one more shot and order a chicken gyro. The only reason I keep going back is convenience. The place is close to my job and quick. I am not a gyro connoisseur so we can agree to disagree.

i tried this place during lunch hour, after reading many good reviews! i decided to just go in and order versus calling, since i wasn’t sure what time i’d be picking it up. it’s a little confusing to find if you’re already inside the Penobscot building, however if you’re coming from outside you can enter the restaurant on w fort street, which is way easier. it was packed inside, however i ordered at the take out counter and my order was ready in less than 10 minutes, and you can see each order being made fresh to order behind the counter. one thing that i liked was that i ordered fries and they made sure to give me plenty of ketchup and other necessary condiments(fork and knife, etc) i ordered the lamb gyro with fries, and it was pretty amazing. the lamb is fresh and tender, and the pita bread is the best pita i have ever had on a gyro! i know they make them fresh and this is why i will come back here. the only thing i will say is that the gyro definitely needed more sauce than they put on it, so order an extra side of sauce! the workers are suuuper friendly too, everyone who walked by acknowledged me and said hello. you can’t beat the prices here, either. coney charges about the same or sometimes more than this place does for a gyro and coney does not even come close to the taste of this place. i will be back to try the chicken gyro!

Absolutely delicious gyros and souvlaki. Staff attentive and prices very reasonable. A nice pleasant surprise that we just stumbled upon.

Came here on a recommendation and wasn’t disappointed in the least. Their Pita bread is some of the best I’ve ever tasted. The gyro bowl that I had was excellent.

LOTS of meat and fresh baked pita… just needed a little more sauce and onions… also fries were cooling as I ate them… overall a good lunch and quick service!

Excellent gyro and baklava! I stopped in for a late lunch because of my hotel concierge’s recommendation. He was spot-on. The great food, coupled with friendly service, made for an enjoyable meal.(The pita bread is made daily, in-house.) The next visit to downtown Detroit will include this establishment!

Their fresh made pita it the best I’ve ever had. They have an appetizer with fried pita chips and a yogurt sauce. Mmmmm.

Not impressed. Had gyro. The meat wasn’t very meaty and it was WAY too greasy. Had a side of cheesesticks. They were bad too. Also, the owner/manager, a raven-haired woman who is likely Greek, acts haughty. Ditto for the servers – who appear to be overweight Greeks and Mexican illegal aliens. Decided immediately after my meal that I would never return. You can do better.

Best greek salad in Detroit period. Lots of meat, fresh salad fresh olives and all the Greek salad works. Amazing healthy home made dressing too.

Went during thier soft opening at the new downtown location, we were impressed mostly. Still so new that they didn’t have iced tea and a couple of other items but what we did try was fantastic! I had the gyro, best pita hands down! Loaded with meat and sauce, just great. My coworker had the greek salad with chicken and loved it. Prices are right in line with downtown and service was on point. Will be checking back as I understand the original is great as well.
