Good food for a neighborhood takeout joint. Been in the area for 45 years and tried all the Chinese takeout around here and haven’t been very happy. Just tried Wong’s and was pleasently surprised. We’ll be back!

The place went downhill after the new owners took over, the food was undercooked, and when i called to add more food on my order the guy that answered hung up on me TWICE… I do not recommend this place and THEYDONTSPEAKENGLISH!!!

The restaurant is now called Paquino as was previously mentioned. I happened to be in the area and stopped in. The restaurant is bigger than it appears from the outside, with a lot more seating than I expected. The place was cleaner than I would have thought, as well. The only person there was a Hispanic fellow. I almost turned around and left, then asked myself why. Most asian restaurants are almost all Hispanics in the kitchen anyway. Why would seeing one interacting with customers bother me? It shouldn’t, so I stayed and ordered. I ordered a lunch special of shrimp egg foo yung, which came with chicken fried rice, a choice of egg roll or 2 crab rangoon, and a can of soda for $ 5.95. That’s a really good deal. The presentation was surprising. Instead of the usual cheap plating, the meal came on a rectangular dish. Not expensive or anything, but a refreshing change of pace. The egg roll was mostly cabbage, but I didn’t expect anything more. It was good for what it was. The fried rice was exactly like you’d expect from this kind of place. I like that style, so it suited me well. I was expecting a serving the size of a small ice cream scoop, but I got a good sized ramekin’s worth inverted on the plate, a pleasant surprise. The egg foo yung(two patties) was nicely fried, and featured larger shrimp than I expected.(If there were a suitable synonym for expect that fit, I would have used it. Sorry!) They were still small, but they weren’t the microscopic version I usually get at places like this. The only problem I had with my meal was the gravy. I don’t know how, but it smelled salty, and definitely tasted that way. Cut the salt content by at least half, and you’ve got a pretty good dish. This isn’t food you go out of your way to get, but it’s an excellent choice if you’re in the area. To sum it up, this place exceeded my expectations.(What did you think I was going to say?!)

First off — This place is no longer called Wong’s, it has changed ownership. The sign outside now says Paquino Second — Horrible customer service. The person who answered the phone didn’t understand English. Took over 15 minutes to complete the order as we spelled out Everything. Ordered by numbers. Then it took over an hour for it to be delivered. It’s two blocks away! When it did arrive, it was the wrong food. Driver had already left, so we called the store. No answer for ½ and hour. Driver had called to get directions, so we called him back. He also did not answer. Drove to the store to return food and get money back. When I walked in, the two people at the front… Just. Walked. Away. When neither of them responded to me when I repeatedly said«Excuse me?», someone came out of the kitchen, who spoke perfect English(facepalm). Returned the food and explained how it was the worst delivery experience I had ever had. He was apologetic, but when I suggested that he should be the front of house guy since they couldn’t speak English, he just sighed and told me that the owners(the man and woman who walked off on me) wouldn’t let him answer the phone. He’s just the cook. So they can’t answer the phone but won’t let someone who can do it for them? Just stupid. Stupid, horrible, worst customer service. They will not receive one dime from me or anyone I speak to about this. Oh, and as I was leaving the store, I was almost run down by a car that zipped into the on-street parking in front of my car. Of course it was the delivery driver.

Used to be a great place for an authentic Chinese dinner when Johnny and Sunshine owned it. Now it SUCKS. The egg rolls are never cooked all the way and the food is terribly bland.

I wish I could give this place a better rating, but in all honesty I was unimpressed by my meal. The hot and sour soup was neither particularly hot nor particularly spicy. I ended up adding some white vinegar and some hot sauce to bring it up to the way I like it. My potstickers were huge, and fairly tasty, and they were done the way I like them with a good, dark crust on one side, but the egg foo yung was really disappointing. The price wasn’t disappointing, though. It’s close to home and the food was very fresh and cheap so it remains a possible alternative when times are a bit tough.

We love Wong’s. It is the only Chinese place I will eat at in the neighborhood. People rave about Guey Lon but they must have delivery because if you walk in the place it smells odd. Musty, old, funk — ick! I could never sit down and eat in there. This place is clean and smells clean. Has small seating area but enough to accomodate those who do eat there. About 8 – 10 booths. The staff is friendly as well. I give it 4 stars only because they are a little heavy handed on the heat. I order Kung Poa Chicken and I ask them for mild and not to make it to spicy. Well mild is still very spicey. We also have ordered several chicken dishes such as chicken/broccoli or pea pods and Chow Mein dishes. All very good. The crab ragoon, pot stickers and egg rolls are all delicious. I have never had something here I did not like. We are difficult customers too! I ask for low fat version, no MSG and no onions/scallions(allergic) they are always happy to accomodate my request. The portions are large and the prices are good. I am surprised that their are not more views.

I’m a sucker for some really good, hot and fresh chicken fried rice. What can I say I’m a simple man who loves simple dishes sometimes. Just throw a little soy on that and you’re all ready to go. The prices here are really good for the amount of food you get, I haven’t had a variety of things there but I definitely recommend the fried rice. :)

3.5 stars is much more accurate. When I first moved into this neighborhood I was delighted to see Wong’s just a mere block away. The first two or three times we tried Wong’s I was impressed. They say they can make everything with no MSG, lower fat or sodium, etc. The prices were reasonable, and the staff friendly, and more importantly the food was good. I’m not so sure about Wong’s anymore… The last time we ordered our food was dry, under sauced and overcooked. They raised their prices. They started being closed on Mondays(but only sometimes)… I might give them another chance here soon, but now that they’ve raised their prices-it’s almost worth it to go get really GOOD traditional Chinese food, even if it is farther away.

This is my local Chinese take-out place and fortunately, I love it. The food is consistently delicious and the portions are large and the egg rolls are fantastic! Like Mark S. has already mentioned, they’re really not breaking any new ground here. But who cares? When I’m in the mood for beef with broccoli or sweet and sour chicken, this place really hits the spot. It should also be noted that everyone who works here is super-friendly and delivery is really fast. Also, the last time I ordered, they gave me a deluxe 2007 calendar with their menu printed on the back. How convenient is that? 9÷27÷07EDIT — — — - I am knocking this down to a 3 star review. Why, you may ask? The last time I ordered from here(a couple weeks ago), I had a couple cans of diet Pepsi thrown in with my order.(Because what goes better with all that MSG than diet Pepsi?) So anyway, my food and soda arrives… I crack open the can of soda, take a huge swig, and spit it out in disgust because it tasted HORRIBLE. I hold the can up, only to find an expiration date of 2⁄2007 printed on the bottom. Do you know how long soda is good for? Like, three years. The fact that I was drinking a can that was 7 months past its ‘drink by’ date kind of grossed me out. Ugh.

Call this place up to order yummy Chinese food that’s fresh and hot and you know what you’ve done? That’s right– you called the Wong number! So no new culinary frontiers are being conquered here, but for normal basic Chinese carry-out this place is really good. I live super close bye and they always get me my food fast and hot– no excuses ever. Just make sure they put the mustard sauce in the bag if you want it– the tend to leave it out.
