Someone got shot outside this place. Eventually it closed.

Very unpleasant crowd, very unpleasant staff, and completely out of place in this neighborhood. I’m not against variety, but just as plugged in toasters have no place in bathtubs, this establishment has no business being in this neighborhood. I look forward to when it closes, as I’m sure does everyone else who lives nearby.

Relaxed bar, really nice bartenders. Great and well-designed, space. There is the bar, a lounge, and then the mezzanine.

There is a monthly metal party at this place called DEVILUTION, first Friday of every month. it’s cheap to get in($ 5 last time) & they have $ 3 pints and good, local metal bands as well as cute gogo girls and metal DJs. I don’t know what it’s like on other nights but this place is awesome to see a metal show at, there’s even a great balcony that overlooks the stage area if you don’t want to be too close to the action. They also have food. I’m digging it!

I wish Unilocal had zero stars. The bright high def TV in the window somehow doesn’t fit the mood of the old school wood and bricks that have made Franklin Street so charming. I have never been in but have heard women be verbally assaulted by the clientele that pour onto the sidewalk. One customer screamed the words«that ass» down the street repeating himself 8 or 9 times to a friend of mine with a flattering but modest outfit on. I wanted to say something, but didn’t want to get shot in the head. To each their own, but don’t shoot me.

This place is absolutely terrible. I don’t even like hanging out in the good bars next to it because we sometimes get the overflow of ghettoness. A lot of you have been complaining about your comments being deleted.

In lieu of my last update being removed, I will now write about my most recent trip to this hellhole. The people waiting in line to get in were of the incredibly scary variety. I mean, «Shoot you in the head» kind of scary. The music being pumped out of this place was horrible and deafening. I waited in line long enough to realize I should not be there, and quickly made my way back to Van Gogh’s . I wish TPL would go away. It does not fit in at ALL on our charming Franklin Ave.

I was going to have my birthday party there usually a rowdy fun respectful group that would have made the bar some great local money and been good PR for them. But the thuggy crowd they cater to totally put me off. About 3 nights a week they promote parties there that invite in a totally uncool crowd.- So i want to be clear this isn’t a cool laid back music biz vibe — not a mellow fort greene joint — there is no peace and love here — it’s a rough, disrespectful crowd of folks, sadly. The owner and bartenders are happy to make their money and go home… where to i wonder??? the people going to this bar may not be disrespectful individuals but as a group hanging out on the side walk and occasionally shooting guns at each other goes to prove that they are not respecting themselves or the neighborhood — they do not care. SAD. the guy holding the lease who must have poured a lot of dough into this place, must really need to make his money back, and he should think about what to do when this crowd gets sick of his place and moves on as clubs always get tired and the crowd that once loved it leaves… where will he — Joe — make his money from then — he has alienated the locals — refused to put in soundproofing — and is generally spitting on this quiet little slice of heaven that used to be this corner of greenpoint — i hope he can make a go of it but he needs to vary his parties and reach out to the locals — it could be a cool space if he tries for a cool mixed eclectic crowd… to be continued.

The Production Lounge is a great addition to Greenpoint. It serves as a local music venue to a variety of genres throughout the week. Wednesday night’s jam session is certainly worth checking out. A friend of mine described a recent Wednesday night as «the best jam session [he’s] had since high school.» Thursday night is generally salsa night and is a fun way to celebrate the week coming to a close. Friday and Saturday vary, but recently Friday night has been dance club music and Saturday is usually the most packed night of the week featuring a variety of hip hop artists. The staff and management is absolutely amazing and the prices are very reasonable and comparable to surrounding bars. There is also great popcorn from an on-site machine. There are many options for seating, from production chairs at the bar, to lounge sofas in the back, to café-style seating on the balcony. The bathrooms are clean and coat check is offered during larger events. Overall, this venue combines a small studio with a lounge. It offers a great opportunity for artists to perform at their best, and without dragging their equipment along.
