Got my haircut at kennaland this week. I have to say its the best haircut i’ve ever gotten. I highly recommend you go to Davey. He’s very personable, attentive, and precise. He really knows how to make your hair style fit to your face.
Not even kidding, that night i got checked out by some nice looking ladies. It must have been my new haircut.

I hadn’t cut my hair in probably 8 – 10 months, so it had that straggly #pleaseyoulooklikeamop physique to it and I was finally ready to shell out the dough… Glad I did.
Davey has an eye for the shape of your face and he just said trust me, here’s what we’re going to do: and worked the magic.

I had been dying my hair red for over 15 years. I had been wanting to go back to my natural color for YEARS but knew it was going to be a long process (I’m naturally a dark blonde). I booked an appointment with Laura on a whim, and I am absolutely THRILLED with the result. Laura took the time to listen to what I wanted (and didn’t want) and then spent hours bleaching and toning to get a beautiful, multi-​dimensional blonde/​brown/​auburn mix. Two months later and I’m still getting compliments on my hair. The price was right and absolutely worth it to me. The salon was charming and quiet (on a weekend morning, no less). Thank you, Laura!

Do you need a color?! Are you feeling drab?! Is S.A.D. bringing you down?! Or are you reading this in like 6 months and its warm and you want to look beach ready?! GO TO LAURA! She is THE best colorist. I have followed her from shop to shop and could not recommend her highly enough. She took my boxed auburn-​red colored hair to a chocolate to blonde ombré that looked like she just lightly brought up my tips on my virgin hair, to this day I have no idea how she did this, but SHE DID and you could no longer tell I was trying to be a redhead.

Let Laura Estroff be henceforth be known as «the Alchemist» for her scrupulous colouring talents – dedicating close to 5 hrs of processing yesterday – to bring my natural level 3 roots with 3−4″ of regrowth to a surprisingly natural-​looking and multidimensional level 8 blonde. Not only does Kennaland exude an industrial/​reclaimed cool in its décor but the pricing structure is holistic (i.e. they don’t nickel ‘n’ dime you every step of the way, or because those extra 2 or 3 foils bumped up your service from a «partial» to a half): my whole/​full head ‘revamp’ included a single process base color to soften the regrowth, balayage of the mid-​shaft through the ends, partial face-​framing foils, and no fewer than 3 glazes/​toners. All for about the same, or less, than what most salons would charge for a full head of foils to start! Talk about bang for your buck! It’s certainly not ‘cheap’ but neither the quality nor the value of what you paid for would ever be questioned. The ladies there are absolute dolls – Shandy, the receptionist, went so far as to send me home with a travel sample of the hair product that I wanted to purchase, simply because they had run out of retail bottles to sell.
As for the color, the results speak for themselves: in the past 24 hours alone I’ve been complimented by a) a random strangler who flagged me down in line at the post office, and b) my persnickety mother who has never, in my 15+ years of dying my hair, expressed direct approval of my styling choices. There you have it, folks: GO see Laura. Today.

After much hard work and time on my stylist’s part, though my hair at first was not exactly as pictured, what speaks more to me about the studio and culture there is how positively it was resolved, with an offer to come in and have a complete re-​do. It’s obvious from the many five star reviews that Kennaland does not accept less than perfect work, and so their openness to ensuring that I was happy and confident with my hair was both refreshing and almost more important to me than my hair itself. It’s nice to know that there is a salon in NYC that values good business and good outcomes. Very happy now. Thanks Kennaland, and see you soon :)

I started to go to Kennaland about 6 month ago — and never been happier with a salon. It was smart move of taking my thin, and dull-​looking over bleached hair to the expert hands of Madison. She is a great colorist; I can always trust her judgment and expertise. Color after color, my hair has only gotten better and better. If you are looking for funky/​pastel colors she is the person to see!
I also started to cut my hair at Kennaland with Amy — she is really friendly and makes sure to ask what you want, while at the same time making sure you look good with your hair type. Her cuts always come out super clean and stylish — I am extremely happy!

Such a wonderful place! The ambiance is charming, the interior design is exquisite, the people are the sweetest and coolest, and the talent is immense. I’ve always been weary of getting my hair cut (separation anxiety) but LOVE the haircut I got today. I could tell both Alex and Kenna have a great great deal of stylistic wisdom and the skills to carry it out. I had a lovely afternoon at Kennaland and sincerely can’t wait to get my hair cut again there soon. Everyone, go :))))

I absolutely love the vibe at Kennaland. Super chill and personal. I heard about Alex from a friend and went to see him for a color correction. My blonde was all jacked up. Had bleached it myself. Alex and I joked about my busted blonde home-​job then he came up with a plan and meticulously bagan to fix me up step by step. He really was determined to make me a legit blonde. I had a great time talking and laughing with Alex while he taook great care correcting the mess I had created in my own hair. He knew exactly what to do and I left very happy, very blonde and very satisfied.
I have found a new salon and a new colorist. I am VERY happy I found Alex! WOO HOO!

Alex is an impeccable stylist with his finger on the pulse of trend and fashion. I received an expertly tight barber cut from this neighborhood salon and was very happy with the outcome. i’d trade my local barber’s bottom shelf brew for this top shelf experience any day! Alex is very skilled with men’s cuts and i say that it must be the same with women, judging by what i saw in his chair when i arrived.

I’ve had my color done by Alex for over a year. He’s amazing at what he does. I have long dark hair and I hate when highlights are brassy and cheap looking. I feel like Jennifer Lopez on her best day after my time with Alex every time!

Best salon in Brooklyn. Madison has done my highlights twice and its the best my hair has ever looked. Amy is great for cuts. I have long hair that i’m very attached to and Amy took off as little of the length as possible and created a great shape. Very friendly staff and a lovely space.

Lovely salon! The space is really nice and the have great hours. Amy is so personable and skilled. My hair looks healthier than it has in years. I couldn’t be happier.

Love, love, love Kennaland Brooklyn! Madison is great with color– I would recommend her to anyone. Kenna gives the best cuts. I have had trouble in the past finding a stylist that can tackle my hair, but Kenna always knows exactly what to do for my length and texture. Pay this studio a visit; the people are amazing and the space is beautiful.
